Thanks! This preview event was 100% of my Armored Core experience. Took about 45 minutes for the gameplay to "click", then I had it.

I put in my pre order today! AC1 was a childhood favorite of mine, so I'm VERY happy to see a return to form for the franchise!

Vets say some of the older ones are better, as far mechanics go. They really mad about that hard lock on but this looks epic. I still wanna play the old ones though.

Seems like they're the ones complaining about it not being tank controls and manual aim, gatekeeping, but the game looks kooky, either way. New AC is a good thing, so everyone should just be happy.
Dam amazing gameplay. Such a cinematic display of finesse and showcasing the many variations of weaponry and combination armored core 6 has to offer. I've watch many reviews but this particular video sold it for me. It gave me goosebumps on just how each interaction looks like art for me. From dodging when necessary, each weapon having a role to play (no mag dump all 4 weapons) and captures the "your the last one complete the mission" feeling.
Appreciate that! I like to do some "cinematic" stuff from time to time.

He did kick it but it also destroyed the enemy so that’s just the defeated animation playing out
Yeah, that does just look like a particularly well-timed death animation after watching it more. That totally SHOULD be a mechanic, though, similar to breaking a tail in Monster Hunter to disable certain attacks.

This video is the equivalent to the new Mortal Kombat trailers for this franchise haha, It's ALL the gameplay I wanted to see, zero narration, just action, explosions and insane movement/dodging attacks while laying the SMAKETH DOWN on even larger mechs! Quite a Spectacle indeed!

They have actually: FromSoft's done a few Gundam games before, including Gundam Unicorn, and the Another Century's Episode crossover series.
They did PS3 Gundam game called "Gundam Unicorn" it take place in space. Sadly it never get release in the west. Just like other good Gundam games.

The cinematic showcase reminds me a lot of the flashier moments in the Gundam and Macross entries.

Don’t get me wrong the souls games are fantastic in their own way, but this is the from software game for me. Fast fluid combat, juggling multiple weapons at once, linear missions that get right to the point, and deep but accessible customization. August 25th can’t come soon enough

As a bit of a mecha enthusiast, I've long wanted to get into the Armored Core games, but not just for the natural Rule of Cool that comes with piloting a giant robot with all manner of ass-kicking sci-fi weapons. It also appealed to me because it broke the norm I've come to expect with Fromsoft of making the player feel weak, powerless, and pathetic as some sort of narrative complement to the high difficulty. In most of their games, you typically start off in some beaten-down state like an Undead Asylum inmate or a half-dead disarmed ninja servant or what have you, and the rest of the game maintains that feeling of weakness on you pretty much throughout its runtime. I understand the methodology behind it - make the player feel constantly outclassed so that each battle won feels like a triumph over impossible odds - but something about that "weakness fantasy" per se never really clicked with me, personally.
Thankfully, I don't see that in AC6. I don't see the player's starter mech getting up from an unspecified ass-whooping with halved AP and naught but a knife to defend itself with. I see a rather basic but still dependable build that, at least in the early hours of the game, establishes you as a unit that can hold your own even when outnumbered, requiring something suitably meaty to truly threaten. It eschews the usual "make the player feel weak to make every victory a big deal" philosophy of your average Souls-like, and instead goes with "establish the player as a badass so that anything that stomps their face in feels badass by extension, and thus make them feel like even *more* of a badass when they finally take it down." It's trading the weakness fantasy for a more tried-and-true power fantasy, sure, but since Fromsoft is Fromsoft, I can expect a power fantasy that expects me to *live up to* those badass expectations, and isn't afraid to push me to my limits in the process. *That* is what made me like other hard action games like Devil May Cry and Vanquish, and having experienced that rush as a demon hunter and a DARPA spec-ops boi, I am 100% ready to get that rush as a stompy death machine.
Well said. Def love me a min max type game where I am all powerful and obliterate any foe. Never did the souls games appeal to me. Not a big fan of doing the same thing over and over bc im nerfed the whole game.
@@ST3PPA Eh, in all fairness, I've had plenty of experiences with being *too* powerful as well, and that can be about as boring as being too weak can be frustrating. If you're the one making the game, you don't want the player to say "wait, that's it?" on a boss fight unless you're about to catch them off-guard with a surprise second phase or such.
That's why I said I like the approach of first establishing the player as a badass so that everything that can actually take them in a fight feels badass too. It establishes this lovely feedback loop of "you are badass -> that thing kicked your ass, so it's also badass -> you kicked that thing's ass in return, so now you're even *more* badass -> repeat" that provides its own sense of progression, as well as the inherent thrill of growing stronger. Pair it up with a combat system as fact-paced and exciting as Armored Core's, and you're in for a fun time.
That is definitely the vibe they are going for. Most enemies are simply not on your level, so you are expected to confront them by the score. Only a few enemies even approach your weight class of power and they're still inferior. Other AC's are an equal weight enemy, everything you can do, they can do and vice versa. (if you have the parts.) Bosses are things so massive and powerful you legitimately understand why it can wreck your face in an instant. Juggernought is literally a fortress on treads the size of a building (oh hi Baneblade!) the PCA heavy combat helicopter is a gunship version of the things that transport AC's to and from the battlefield. The Baltaeus is basically an AC with a massive expansion pack and crazy high tech nonsense. Then you wreck them anyway and it feels great.

@@ST3PPA Found the D2 fan. Power fantasies are lame. The game is pointless when you can curb stomp everything. Power fantasies in video games are strange to me; you're an adult man fantasizing about optimizing your gear to crush virtual enemies - hmm. The fun is the constant threat and overcoming it. Like, challenge is the essence of video games. What's the challenge in point-click-dead? Just ultra lame. You repeat basic gameplay in virtually all games, what are you even playing? Souls has insane enemy diversity, settings, bosses and gear options. You're just inept, maybe?

I have experienced ac2 - ac4a, so the first time I heard bout ac6, I was thinking... Is this a dream?... But now... Ik it is reality.
It seems that some of the best aspects of previous evolutions of Armored Core have been put together.

I will never understand how people ALWAYS seem to somehow overlook/forget about armored core when its been around since 1997 and had over 15 games released. Then every single time a new one gets revealed along side outher AAA games its always.... ive never heard of armored core in my life.

Because many good games made in Japan back in the day seemed to never make it out of Japan because companies didn’t care enough.
While I'm sure the main story and playthrough will be very enjoyable, I'm really curious as to how PVP will hold up as that is going to be the bread and butter of the game that gets people playing long after they've completed the campaign.
In ACVD, I've seen players with hp lower than 1000, flying around the arena, and then bonked enemy players to death.
I think ACVI is much more "cleaner" than ACVD. You can clearly see where missiles are. And they STILL managed to keep the high pace chaos of mech battles. This is truly amazing!

Been playing armored core since I was young during the PS1 days all the way to PS2 PS3.
Really the only thing thats missing for me in this series is involving more human and showing human characters.
I want it to have a better story, politics, assassination, rebellion etc.

I'm not sure on which platform I should get this one because of the controls. I'm used to both a (PS4/5) controller and keyboard/mouse but this looks like it almost NEEDS to be done with the latter for the best experience

Go controller - fromsoft are famously bad at keyboard controls
AC games are traditionally controller centric
Consider the following: You can use a controller with your PC easily, how much work is it to setup mouse and keyboard for your console?
if you have a good pc it will support 120fps. after that just connect a xbox controller to it and youre golden. or ps4 controller with ds4 or steam input

That's not how From Software rolls. They don't make underperforming games. If it even does it's only due to EAC, which they will try to fix for sure.
