    Random tip from a mech game player, dodging missiles tends to be easier if you dip in towards the enemy. So, basically, once the missiles start to maneuver, if you dodge forward inside their turn arc, they will have a lot more trouble catching you. Generally, in AC, missiles have a max turn rate that you can exploit.

Even the mobile Suits from gundam, if you need more speed your only choice is the boosters otherwise your running speed is kinda slow. I think of the few mechs series that have tremendous physical power are Zoids, most Zoids can achieve the boost speed of an AC on leg power alone and the boosters are there for extra speed.

    • @jgkitarel
      @jgkitarel 9 месяцев назад

      The issue to me is that Souls-Like has become a buzzword in some circles. I hate buzzwords due to the fact that they add no real meaning and actually cheapen what brought them about in the first place. AC6 has taken clear inspirations from some mechanics from From Software's better known games, but it does so in its own way, but it is NOT a Souls-Like. It's a mech game that has taken some influences from the Souls genre, and does those influences well from what I saw in this video, but does so in a way that fits the genre.

    • @ExarchGaming

    • @jgkitarel
      @jgkitarel 9 месяцев назад

      @@ExarchGaming The issue is that Soulslike is to refer to a genre of games, much like Rougelikes do. That doesn't preclude other genres from using such elements, video game genres take cues and inspirations from other genres and influence each other all the time.

    • @ExarchGaming
      @ExarchGaming 9 месяцев назад

      @@jgkitarel sure okay. But like the term roguelike and soulslike, they refer to a specific set of attributes that are all mostly similar between titles.
      But there are those games that experiment with the style or take inspiration from another genre of game, which is why the ****-lite genre was introduced. I'm just saying that games like AC6:FOR which clearly are taking some light elements from the souls games, a handy tag to find more games of that type could be soulslite.

    As someone that got hooked on the series when the original Armored Core launched on the original PlayStation back in 97, I'm pretty sure I shouted "HERESY!" at my screen when you said you were using an Xbox controller hah, it's refreshing to see the perspective from someone that's never played the series before.
    I know that Armored Core is not a game series for everyone but, watching this took me back to playing for the first time, after begging my mom to get the game for me after seeing the "awesome robot" on the cover and I remember being absolutely blown away by the Opening cutscenes, I sometimes still squeal with joy when I see it. Then getting my ass handed to me by the freaking tutorial level AC (they just threw you into the frying pan back then) since the controls are so very different from anything I had ever played before. Once I figured out those controls though oh man was I hooked, it became my favorite game to play, especially once my friend and I started doing the split screen versus mode, like seriously there's a comic that I think I first saw around 2013 that perfectly summed up our experience. I kept going for heavier armor with more firepower and he kept going for light and fast, we went back and forth for so long until eventually it was almost always a stalemate where we both ran out of ammo and were trying to moonlight each other to death (yes the moonlight greatsword's first appearance to me was as the LS-99-MOONLIGHT in Armored Core 1, though I found out later that it originated in King's Field)
    We spent so many hours customizing our ACs, probably more time customizing/testing than ever spent in missions, and Armored Core was the first game I ever remember having a system where you can create your own custom emblem in game to proudly display on your AC.
    It was still a brutal game until you found out what type builds worked for you, and often changing things up for different mission types. We didn't have any colossal enemies to fight but even then some of the Enemy Ravens were so damn annoying and took many tries to figure out what worked against them (@#!$ you Nine-Ball!), sometimes I like to think they took that punishing yet satisfying style and ended up making an industry redefining genre that are souls games from what they learned with Armored Core :)
    Alright now that I got that walk down memory lane out of my system, seeing the new mechanics I'm seeing and the absolutely MASSIVE mission maps (especially compared to the older games in the series, but even against most maps in AC5) have me even more excited for this game. I hope you go back and play at least Armored Core 5 to see just how big of a difference it is :)
    TL;DR: Great Video, Love seeing a fresh perspective on one of my favorite game series, "Good Times" nostalgia trip, Mechs are indeed very cool :)

    Honestly, I've been wanting a mech game with more customization for a while. It really feels like so many only give you one or two small options, or a few presets, so it feels like a missed opportunity. I havent finished this video yet, but I just wanted to say while I remember that I always really appreciate you going over the controls in these overview videos. Even as a viewer understanding the controls really helps keep track of what's going on and when we eventually get to play the game we have a useful reference already in the back of our minds.

    I really appreciate your approach here. It's nice to get the newcomer's perspective from you after getting a completionist's from VaatiVidya and WritingOnGames.
    I played AC3 when I was a kid, but never continued past that. Nothing has scratched that itch since. Very excited for AC6!

    I’m so happy armoured core is finally coming back. I only played 4 and 5 so I’m not the oldest fan but I have a huge soft spot for mech games (mech warrior was one of the first games I ever played, I used a joystick) I can’t say enough good things about this series. Hope you all have as much fun as I have :)

      If I were from soft I would do exactly zero promotion for any game anymore. We don't deserve them, and they know it. they are a generation ahead of all other devs, just put the money into more development.

    I feel like AC:6 will get more attention after the massive success of Elden Ring. FromSoft is now more so a household name for gamers everywhere. I feel like this game will do incredibly well! Also awesome video and breakdown. I’ve been a Soulsborne fan since the first Dark Souls and have been since. Sounds like this is worth a shot!

      Fromsoft has been a household name since DS. What ER got them was mainstream popularity even outside gaming. People who only know about video games as far as call of duty and FIFA have probably heared of elden ring.
      So yes, the pressure on this game is great, because it has an opportunity to capture a much larger audience.

      @@egoalter1276no lol, majority of people didn’t start talking about and playing from soft games till elden ring came out and became mainstream, and a lot of people lie about playing FS games before elden ring to try and fit in, when in reality it was only real gamers who played DS years ago

    Went from making very entertaining memes about Darksouls to getting flown to a centralized location for an early release of a game and interview with its director.
    Gods damn man, you've come pretty far! Loved your review of this game as I am one of the folks that is more familiar with the Soulsbourne series vs AC, which I have been looking forward to picking up for a long time, but never really got into Console play.
