    Random tip from a mech game player, dodging missiles tends to be easier if you dip in towards the enemy. So, basically, once the missiles start to maneuver, if you dodge forward inside their turn arc, they will have a lot more trouble catching you. Generally, in AC, missiles have a max turn rate that you can exploit.

    • @raptros
      @raptros Год назад +4

      @@pixelboss4980e reason they do that is that most mechs try to stay grounded when it comes to movement, they glide/slide exactly because of their weight and size, running would put a ton of pressure on the joints and you need the legs for a lot more than just running. Even the mobile Suits from gundam, if you need more speed your only choice is the boosters otherwise your running speed is kinda slow. I think of the few mechs series that have tremendous physical power are Zoids, most Zoids can achieve the boost speed of an AC on leg power alone and the boosters are there for extra speed.

      They already did...that's Souls. And of all of them, DS2 kinda has the most of King's Field's DNA in it: giant monster waiting to kill you 3 feet from the starting point, the abundance of key item locked mechanisms that merely spring booby traps on you, rooms and passages hidden behind Doom-style pushwalls (instead of illusory walls fading out of existence)...and well, it literally has Seathe in it as the "Darklurker"

      The issue to me is that Souls-Like has become a buzzword in some circles. I hate buzzwords due to the fact that they add no real meaning and actually cheapen what brought them about in the first place. AC6 has taken clear inspirations from some mechanics from From Software's better known games, but it does so in its own way, but it is NOT a Souls-Like. It's a mech game that has taken some influences from the Souls genre, and does those influences well from what I saw in this video, but does so in a way that fits the genre.

    • @ExarchGaming

      @ExarchGaming Год назад

      @@jgkitarel sure okay. But like the term roguelike and soulslike, they refer to a specific set of attributes that are all mostly similar between titles.
      But there are those games that experiment with the style or take inspiration from another genre of game, which is why the ****-lite genre was introduced. I'm just saying that games like AC6:FOR which clearly are taking some light elements from the souls games, a handy tag to find more games of that type could be soulslite.

    As someone that got hooked on the series when the original Armored Core launched on the original PlayStation back in 97, I'm pretty sure I shouted "HERESY!" at my screen when you said you were using an Xbox controller hah, it's refreshing to see the perspective from someone that's never played the series before.
    I know that Armored Core is not a game series for everyone but, watching this took me back to playing for the first time, after begging my mom to get the game for me after seeing the "awesome robot" on the cover and I remember being absolutely blown away by the Opening cutscenes, I sometimes still squeal with joy when I see it. Then getting my ass handed to me by the freaking tutorial level AC (they just threw you into the frying pan back then) since the controls are so very different from anything I had ever played before. Once I figured out those controls though oh man was I hooked, it became my favorite game to play, especially once my friend and I started doing the split screen versus mode, like seriously there's a comic that I think I first saw around 2013 that perfectly summed up our experience. I kept going for heavier armor with more firepower and he kept going for light and fast, we went back and forth for so long until eventually it was almost always a stalemate where we both ran out of ammo and were trying to moonlight each other to death (yes the moonlight greatsword's first appearance to me was as the LS-99-MOONLIGHT in Armored Core 1, though I found out later that it originated in King's Field)
    We spent so many hours customizing our ACs, probably more time customizing/testing than ever spent in missions, and Armored Core was the first game I ever remember having a system where you can create your own custom emblem in game to proudly display on your AC.
    It was still a brutal game until you found out what type builds worked for you, and often changing things up for different mission types. We didn't have any colossal enemies to fight but even then some of the Enemy Ravens were so damn annoying and took many tries to figure out what worked against them (@#!$ you Nine-Ball!), sometimes I like to think they took that punishing yet satisfying style and ended up making an industry redefining genre that are souls games from what they learned with Armored Core :)
    Alright now that I got that walk down memory lane out of my system, seeing the new mechanics I'm seeing and the absolutely MASSIVE mission maps (especially compared to the older games in the series, but even against most maps in AC5) have me even more excited for this game. I hope you go back and play at least Armored Core 5 to see just how big of a difference it is :)
    TL;DR: Great Video, Love seeing a fresh perspective on one of my favorite game series, "Good Times" nostalgia trip, Mechs are indeed very cool :)

    something to keep in mind for some of the new players, while the levels may be linear in progression if AC 6 is anything like the old titles there will be gear hidden in some of the maps.

      Not sure if you might know. I don't know what mech game it was, probably was another AC game. Although, I don't think it was. It had more of a focus on arena gameplay, because I don't remember an actual story mode attached to it. The story was more focused on the arena and you were trying to climb the ranks. It had stull like emails from the NPCs and such. Pretty sure it dated back to the PS2 era.

    The trailers made it look like a wonky student project to me, but strangely, it plays a lot better than it looks. It feels like they already have the combat laid down well. Also, it's the first souls-like I played that not only has both dodging and deflecting, but somehow manages to make both viable. Map design was also a big strength with alternative routes to everything (for those who prefer a sneakier approach), and hidden items to pick up. Sneaking is satisfying, but OP, because enemies don't hear you backstabbing others. I hope they'll fix that (alongside with the performance).

    it truly is a blast seeing someone do good and end up rewarded for it. you shouldnt feel like your not worth his time or anything like that. you do your thing with passion and it shows.
    you deserve it all

    I just recently tried AC3 on ps2 and this new AC definitely still keeps a lot of the core progression and gameplay, but the controls have been VASTLY updated I’m glad to see. In AC3 I felt like I was learning dark souls controls for the first time again XD like for Instance, you used shoulder or trigger buttons to look up or down, idk if they had updated this already in following releases but either way I’m glad they’re different now 😂

    I had armored core in my hands long before I was fanagling with any souls, rings, or bloods or somesuches. And now we're back in the pilot seat in higher fidelity than ever. Feels good.
    Also the missions are not totally linear. There are multiple paths to explore, and hidden things to find, apparently.

    As someone who has only played one AC game (AC:4A) for the first time last year, I gotta say, I'm super stoked for this game. While AC6 doesn't seem as fast-paced & frenetic as AC:4A, it looks fast enough, and the modernized features are very welcome. For those who haven't played Armored Core games and ARE NOT fans of mech games, be aware that Armored Core isn't your typical mech franchise. AC mechs are insanely maneuverable & take a lot of skill to fully master. You aren't a sluggish "walking tank" in AC - you feel more like a fighter pilot, and can customize your mech to achieve supreme speed & maneuverability (if that's your thing).

    I’ve been waiting for a solid mech game since AC for answer and AC 5. The adrenaline from the non stop action while having to maintain control all around you as well as above and below you. There’s so much room for skill expression based on your understanding of your build and sooooo many different methods to your build to truly make it uniquely yours. Also the multiplayer in AC 5 was phenomenal. Grouping up in a clan and fighting for territory and defending made it feel like a true virtual war. Any dark souls fans I think will pretty easily ease into this series as there are many similarities albeit with some more complexity. If you’ve never played AC before, give it a shot. There’s so much to the series and by far the most rewarding series at least for me. See you all on the battlefield. Irrelephancy #1
