*Dave The Diver did get some publishing help from Nexon. Steam page didn't list that.* *All good! The passion is there, and it's still a phenomenal "Indie like"!* -BoomstickAlex
Calling it publishing help is an understatement, Mintrocket is just a codename. It's the same codename they were using for Dark and Darker's dev team. Kinda skeezy that they're hiding under it too, like it just links to the regular nexon page when you click it.
You missed a couple reasons why Indy's are doing better: 1. Price (this is the #1 reason for me) 2. They (usually) aren't sequels/remasters/reboots 3. Fresh game mechanics/takes on old mechanics 4. The developers aren't attached to years of shitty history (treatment of developers, SA, buggy releases, over monetization, etc) 5. They're full games... There's almost never a "shop" or space money. You can earn everything in the game by playing the game.
Please stop calling Dave The Diver (DTD) an indie game. I don't know who started this, but pixel graphics alone don't make a game an indie game. Mintrocket, the studio that created DTD has 30 team members, which makes them a AA studio. On top of that, they are a division of Nexon. Nexons is an $18 billion USD company! On top of that, the CEO of Mintrocket himself stated that they are not an indie studio. It’s unfair to all the other indie studios to call DTD an indie game. And don't get me wrong, I like DTD, nothing against the game or studio.v
Love your videos man, always just a fun, informative time. I'm buying Battlebit tonight and so is my friend so we can have some good times with it after your review.
Voidigo is Enter the Gungeon meets Nuclear Throne and its so good and Luck be a Landlord is my newest obsession its a deck builder roguelike but instead of cards its dials on a slot machine which you use to synergize with each other and combo together to make more and more money along with using abilities that do so as well all as the only means of paying your rent.
Brotato reminded me more of my playthrough of SNKRX, there are tons of parallels in the mechanics. Also, check out SNKRX people, you build a snake/train with different functions, class synergies, strategies.

5:52 Darkest Dungeon 2 somewhat failure in sales was not because they changed the game too much. It was because a lot of people didn't apreciate being an Epic exclusive for two years .. And also asking a full price when it eventualy release on Steam.
Nah, it's definitely more because of the changes. We've seen time and time again gamers don't follow through with this boycotting of epic games. Also, the game is just mediocre. A downgrade in every sense
I barely heard anybody say anything about FIST Forged in Shadow Torch or Asterigos Curse of the Stars or Astria Ascending or even Ruined King...all great games & better than a lot of AAA games.
I think we can all agree that indie games are 999% better than AAA games. Probably because indie games doesn't focus on selling and making money but only doing what they think is nice
Could be Darkest Dungeon suffered in sales because of Epic exclusivity. Now that it has come to Steam many people won't want to pay full price because it's no longer a new game.
I've been a supporter of indie games and I'm happy for their success. I think the lower price point with lesser or no bugs at launch, and their freedom to create a different and fresher ideas has intrigued a lot of gamers. Also no BS microtransactions.

indie graphics remind me of the evolution of app icons, at first they wanted to be the most detailed thing you could get until purpose became the norm and a simple design made more sense, people "care" for graphics as long as they make sense. indie games are also not afraid to do wacky ideas, things they would love and focus on that rather than the most marketable game with the most defined IP

I've loved Darkest dungeon 2. The perms death of the first always turned me off. The sequel is much more forgiving but still challenging, and the soundtrack and atmosphere is amazing!
I’m having a blast. About 20 hours in. Still have elements to the game I have an opened up yet. Elements that Alex doesn’t even show in his video. He’s kind of an anti-spoiler channel.

What's sad is sometimes, you feel the passion in a game, it's just buried under bullshit. Like Diablo 4, OW, or pretty much anything by Activision Blizzard.
It's kind of on indies to keep gaming going now developers are spending far too much time trying to reach unnecessary heights in graphical fidelity. It's their time to shine

I’ve enjoyed sone bigger titles like Diablo 4 and Monster Hunter Rise (for Xbox) but when I’ve got a half hour to an hour and just want the turn my brain off, games like Vampire Survivors or Neon Abyss are so satisfying
The issue with Darkest dungeon 2 is it's trying to be a roguelite, but runs are 3-4 hours long with half of that time being spent on the stagecoach doing nothing important. If your new game would not appeal to fans of the original, it should not be marketed as a sequel.

90% of my wishlist on steam is indie/double AA games and the rest is there just to get a deal with.
Double AA games AKA Quadruple A games. Budget almost the size of the US military's.

i found it almost too simplistic and a bit boring after a while. seems more like a game you sit with for about 15 minutes at a time.
I love Indie games. Especially ones that work on Steam Deck!
Just got a Steam deck this week!

Well, it launched out of early access this year on Steam. I don't qualify that as an old discounted game. But, it could be $29.99
I really really liked Trepang 2 like even more then Boltgun

Sons Of The Forest: saw some gameplay for the chain maybe at some point play at some point but not really that good at horror
Halls Of Torment: I don't think about playing the demo later aka the prelude
Crab Champions: oh yeah I remember sorry I was looking forward to this game and then kind of went on and off until finally got around releasing
Battlebit Remastered: time to play at some point but not really feeling like it right now ( hopefully this is more of competition than replacements maybe a second chance towards its rivals to keep us entertained and I don't want to deal with superiority on one of them)
Starship Troopers Extermination: have plans to play that game at some point
Brotato: had plans for that game at some point
Pizza Tower: maybe
Everspace 2: no current plans at the moment
Cassette Beasts: yeah I'm thinking about plans for that game as well
Warhammer 40k Boltgun: have plans to play that game at some point play Warhammer games have been a good recently ()
Darkest Dungeon 2: need to buy them and play the first one
Dredge: not really much into horror
but for now I have plans to pick up Starfield, payday 3 and Phantom Liberty DLC
