This version is from the Rain King LP released in the UK in 1994. The actual title on the LP is "Round Here (BBC Radio 1-FM Recording)". I hope this helps people find it and archive it, this is easily my favorite version. Brings a lot of emotions to the surface!
Absolutely. It’s one of the very few albums I would say is objectively perfect. I don’t say that lightly. It’s criminally under-appreciated. It’s lack of consensus standing in the pantheon of greatest albums of all time is due in large part to the inherent 90s bias that oddly exists in the industry. It’s almost like anything made after 1990 doesn’t count. Achtung Baby by U2 is another example of this.
It all ended here for me with the Counting Crows. I listened to them for the next two albums and DGC Rarities. But it always came back to the three songs from this performance ( Anna and Murder of One). This was the perfect manifestation of the Counting Crows in every way. The songs emanated for what they are and there they stand as timeless edifices of an ideal. Adam outdid himself here and set the bar beyond this world thereon. Other than that Im nearly speechless... just listen to the songs
This is the absolute best version i've heard of this song. Thanks for posting. I absolutely love the emotion Adam puts into the song, it makes it so much better.
this forever will make my heart sing. ive replayed this a million times and somehow each and everytime it makes me feel something different. i dont know what too say other than the fact, i have struggled with life for most of my life. i am a survivor ( although saying that makes me feel unworthy and pathetic and a waste) of 12 suicide attempts. and i think it is important , that after each and every single time i woke up full of shame that i still am breathing and tangible and real, this song is what i played. this song reminds me of the best and worst days. the lyrics make my mind riot and my hear sing. this song is so important too me. and i want to thank counting crows for being their through the worst and through the best, yet somehow always reminding me of seeing when there is no sight, and breathing when there seems to be no air.
One thing is clear and it’s that you don’t want to die so stop fucking around. Create a dialogue in your head with God like you’re talking to a person you can count on. Go there every time you need to get whatever is bothering you off your chest, get honest, say it like you would to your most trusted friend. Ask for grace every time you remember to. Ask to be humble and thankful for your blessings. Ask for strength. Ask for forgiveness. Ask for guidance. Learn about how complex and miraculous the human body is. It will change your perspective on life and you may find out you can be happy with yourself. Take care and don’t do anything stupid like taking your life or flirting with the idea of it.
I've had a copy of this version on my computer for well over a decade, but the copy I have has the ending cut off, so thank you for uploading a version which isn't cut off.
As this music enters my ears his words and the voice he sings it in enters my veins and creep up into my soul....I sit frozen letting it take me over and in this moment is when I begin to daydream and open doorways in my mind that have been dimly lit for far too long
Absolutely haunting, and oh so sweet and beautiful. This one. This is the one that says it all. Opens every door in my lonely highway wondering mind. Those that are well lit, as well as the ones that are always so hard to find. Collecting the webs of arachnids with each note the ancient , dark hinges creak ever so slowly open. This one. This is the one that will always say it all.
Still here in 2020, after having heard it for the first time in 2007, when I was still 16. Goosebumps everytime I listen to it, it links me to the deepest core of myself. Awesome. Live is 10 times better than the original (which is just beautiful anyway).
I heard this entire album performed live, acoustically, on WNEW- FM Radio Show Called "Idiot's Delight" , Hosted by Vince Scelsa. I went all over the place for two mths. trying to find Counting Crows Debut Album "August & Everything Else". WNEW -FM was New York's premier Progressive Rock Stations, going back to 1968. It introduced he Album form of song's, that is now known as Classic Rock. This album was a masterpiece, and still is: But this is the way I heard it for the first time, acoustically. Still kicks ass that way. Thanks for the upload Tankbait. Peace
holy shit this is amazing so glad i stumbled upon it it's alot better than the studio version so much more emotion to it didn't think it was possible lol

En el 2005 fue la canción de cuna de mi primer hijo, se la cantaba arrullandolo bajo la luz de la luna. Que entraba por mi ventana y recuerdo claramente ese.... Go to slepp My little angel
