Written by a genius, sang by an angel, covered by a legend.
Mark, perfect way to describe this version.
@@wayneburchell1362 if there was a sure-fire way of making an song an absolute timeless masterpiece, that's the formula.
Well said sir
Prince wrote it, Sinead made it popular, chris owns it
Never seen a truer statement.
I don't get emotional when musicians or celebrities die. But right now this 40 year old man is crying like a baby listening to this song. Words can't express the talent this man possessed. The world lost a great one that will never be replaced. Love you man and thanks for the music! R.I.P. Chris....for people who don't understand why others mourn the death of artists, you need to understand that these people have been a shoulder to cry on. A rock. They've been family, friends, leaders, teachers and roll models. Many have taught us what we need to know and what to do when times get rough. They've helped us move on. They've pushed us out of bed. They've helped us live when nobody else had time to. Artist have inspired us in endless ways and have been with us through stages in our lives. We've made memories with them. So when they die a part of us dies.
Exact same here. First note he sang and I became an instant mess. Gone way too soon. Thank you, Chris, for the inspiration, the beauty, the heightened energy, and for combining brilliant words I could never think of to explain me better than I could myself. RIP
ForestCityFunk same here man, 38 and crying like a kid with a skinned knee
ForestCityFunk been crying all day, my heart actually hurts right now!! RIP Chris Cornell!
Same I am absolutely crushed :(
ForestCityFunk Youre not alone bro. Part of our youth is gone. Badmotorfinger, Louder Than Love, and all his early stuff... how it shaped our teens. RIP Chris.
This man had one of, if not _the_ , greatest voices in the history of music.
THE BEST! ❤️🩹
Hello Mother Father of all creation are here in physical flesh playing this song to reach out to you listening. Phone home today we luv u!
Actually the greatest male singing voice as I'm perfect tone perfect pitch was the former front man for the band Journey, Steve Perry. But I agree Chris has a beautiful voice miss it
Amen to that. He's truly missed... Such an amazing voice.....
@@craigward348Steve Perry had a fragile voice tho if he sang one big note live he couldn’t sing another
My late husband and I loved Chris Cornell music and this song. I listened to this song everyday after he passed for months. It still hurts my heart
Mine too! Love to you sister ❤
Always a lump in my throat and tear in my eye… listening to this.
Love you
Sorry for your loss! 😢❤
De verdad mi más sentido pésame que la música nos ayude a seguir adelante ánimo
Prince wrote it, Sinead sang it to the world, Chris covered it like only he could. Nothing compares 2 you 3. Sing in peace.
Prince wrote and performed it. Then let Sinead cover it.
Well said :)
And all three are gone 😢
Perfect.
:(
I don't always listen to Chris Cornell, but when I do, so do my neighbors
I don't know why, but I legitimately laughed out loud. Thanks
@@andrewjenkins1343 Because Andrew, that comment was as real as "By God American Pie!"
You're very welcome
And rightly so
Best comment lol

Prince wrote it, Sinead released it, Chris covered it and all died far too young. That's some bad mojo tied to a great tune...
2024 who's listening?? ❤

Here we are ……
still
I know who isn't.....
Surely miss him, wondered what we could have today otherwise...
Rip Chris cornell. Who knows what this man could’ve been today.
This is literally one of the best acoustic covers possible by an artist of all time. Nothing compares to this..
i see what you did there LOL good one ;-)
Amazing
Ahhhhh, except maybe Sinead O'Connor who took a corpse from Prince and made it a global hit.
I see what you did there . . .
Absolutely 🤘🏻
My wife passed away in my arms on New Year's Day. This was one of her favorite songs. She would play it all the time and it would make her cry everytime. It even came to mind while I was saying my final goodbyes to her. She was such a kind and gentle person... This hits so hard now. She gave me and the kid 11 wonderful years. She won't get to see our kid grow up... but at least she isn't hurting anymore. Thank you for being in our lifes, HunnyBunny. We love you, we miss you.

This rendition of this song will never not give me goosebumps 😔
For sure
I don't have a single friend, I'm failing school, I'm so lonely and unsuccesful my heart hurts. This song makes me feel a bit better.
Jesus Christ is the only one you need, tell him to be your Lord in your life, accept him, it will be the best decision you make in your life.😇😇😇😇
Decide what you want 5 years from now and write it down, write down what steps are necessary to reach your goal and do this in great detail and follow through. Life is tough and I am happy now because of how difficult my childhood and early adulthood was as I am 51 and successful and have been for almost 2 decades. Focus and dedicate yourself
Learn a skill that could bring you income, trust me once you determine your destiny the people will come. All you need is yourself man people come and go.
It will all better soon bro I promise you!!
Brotha.. I love you... Please continue the mundane .. not for yourself but for us all that will miss you... It will be ok... Thank you for reminding me to keep going as well ❤️🩹
Chris and Sinead are somewhere singing this together. RIP to two amazing artists the likes of which we'll never see again.
Didn't realise it was originally a Prince song, just assumed Sinead wrote it... Both her version and Chris's are beautiful. RIP

BET...
Of all the saddest coincidences....I had an 18 year old son that passed away in my living room, died in his sleep, brain aneurysm,he played the guitar beautifully,he looked just like Chris Cornell, the way they dressed, the hair, the dimples, even his muscle structure,so many similarities that I could not even watch him for a long time without breaking,so needless to say the man was such a great performer and singer, and the fact he reminded me of Garrett so much,he inveribly become my favorite. My son taught my younger son to play when he was 8yrs old and he is absolutely amazing to watch,he is 14 now and can play anything, and do it perfectly, just for Garrett and his legacy. So the day I found out that Chris Cornell had passed away I broke down,my son died all over again, there went the only man that kept him alive for me.....no one can imagine the loss of a child, unless you know, and I don't know why I'm saying any of this,I'm just so baffled by the way someone I never met or knew,I seemed to know so well....it hurt almost the same,so to my son Garrett Randal McBride, and to Chris Cornell...I hope y'all meet on the other side, someday I will see them again, may you both rest in peace, the hurt and sadness I've seen in both of your eyes is over, that's all.
Brandy Williams sad story, sorry to hear about your son, hope you're doing ok
So sorry for your loss, life can be so cruel sometimes...

Brandy Williams I am truly and deeply sorry for your tremendous loss.
I just looked up the word "Silky" in the dictionary and when i turned to the correct page, chris cornell's voice just appeared as if it were coming down from the heavens.
It is unfathomable to think that all 3 of the the people that made this masterpiece, what it was..... are no longer with us. 😔

So true!!!
He is and always will be my favorite, and he kills this song, just gets me in my feelings, he is so amazing. From Temple Of The Dog, Sound Garden, and Audio Slave!!! I just love his voice, and the feeling behind any song he plays💛
Cello often feels like the ultimate orchestral instrument...until some lunatic decides to bring in the French horns 🤣
"Since you took your love away.."

I cry every single time I hear this song…. I lost my first love to car wreck… she died on Christmas Eve …she was hit head on by a telephone repair truck when he crossed traffic… this was her favorite song…. It’s been over 30 years… I have married and have kids… but I still think of her every single Christmas Eve and tell her merry Christmas….Somehow this is even more beautiful…but makes me cry even more…
Cheers bud 🖤
I’m sorry to hear that.
So sorry to hear this. Strength to you, George.
😭
Damn my brother, I'll toast to yinz this coming christmas eve.
I don’t regret many things in my life, but one thing I do regret is not seeing Chris Cornell perform live while he was still with us.
Me too brother.
Man had great talent
Man I had the honer of seeing him twice back to back Jacksonville and Ft Myers two weeks before he passed I couldn’t believe it
Me too. When the tribute concert happened, I said, I'm going no matter what cost. It was life changing.
I was in grade 9 . Making the Alberta boy transition from liking my parents music (country, Elvis , Beatles etc.) And my buddy says yo Im going to audioslave in Edmonton. Parents can get a spare ticket for you. I was like sure , whoever the fuck audioslave is. Part of me wished I was an earlier learner in good music and I showed up knowing their tunes, but part of me was glad I was introduced that day and forever changed.
This man had so much talent. RIP Chris
Happy Birthday, Trish. I'll never be able to listen to this song without thinking about how many times we listened to it together and remembering what it meant to us both. It will always be our song. I will always love you. Rest in Peace.
Speechless. Cornell was one of the best vocalists in history.

I know the Creator of this channel may never read this but I just want to say thank you! Mr. Morgan this has always been an incredible and comforting song! I lost my mother to cancer two weeks after my 15th birthday, it was tough but my big sis was there for me!
Then 3 years later the Universe/God decided to take her away as well, she was 25 years young..... A rare type of stomach cancer.
2 years after Sis was taken, dad was killed in his work truck..... He was a HVAC technician......
One day I woke up and realized I was the only one left....... Music helps with the loneliness..... Thank you again
I’m so sorry for your loss. 😢
Keep hanging on Daniel.
I’m so sorry. Keep hanging in there, you got this! ❤
You are not alone Daniel. The love you shared with your sister and family will always be there. Please reach out for some local companionship (meetups or something) once you are ready. You are not alone!
I've never taken the death of a star as hard as Chris Cornell. The talent, the love, the deep thinker.... I can't believe he's gone. "Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling.."😢
And the circumstances behind his death are just as troubling/sorrowful.
RIP Brother Chris… you will never be forgotten!!🤘
Wanna know the head of the human trafficking rings that slayed Chris, Chester Bennington and Robin Williams who were all speaking out against the global abduction ring... Learn about Klaus Schwab, he's the orchestrater of the Neo Silk Road, where terrorists ship war captures to China, each capture is 1 million dollars a head and they do hundreds of thousands a year... if s3x slaves don't work, labor slaves will, and barring that they just harvest organs for high paying organ transplant recipients...
Learn about WEF and Klaus Schwab while we still have any freedom or culture at all, he wants to bring us to the dark ages, of 1940 Germany and eliminate historic records and culture. The war is won not by guns, just by knowledge... Learn and tell others.
I’m 70 and I have been listening to all sorts of music since I was around seven. Patsy, Dino, Elvis, Whitney, Gaga, Miley, Frank, John and Paul, mick and this is one of the best performances
@tommcgann2432 Tom, beside the fact that you are 70 and know music from Chris Cornell, which in and of itself is so amazing! But when you said it is one of the best performances, and you obviously know music, is such a compliment to this wonderful man.

Chris wouldn't allow you to see the pain in his eyes so he made you hear it in his voice. RIP My friend 🙏
Awesome words
@Protocol you are absolutely right. I saw him with Sound Garden in an old rustic hockey arena. I grabbed my girlfriend at the time and told her their was no way we were sitting in padded seat when Chris was down on the floor. We left our friends and fancy seats and headed directly to the stage. I literally fought us through the mosh pit and anyone between Chris and us. She was in front of me and I held onto the steel barricades all night listening to the best lead singers of my generation. I would probably still be holding on to that barricade if I had a choice. Long live the goat!!!

Nobody knows how he died....they say suicide, because it "fits" for the people who are in power.
@@Braddaddyx after seeing and hearing some of his covers and renditions he was working on before he passed, it's not hard for me to believe suicide, intentional or not. After being dangerously suicidal for the better part of 7 years, it's easy to see now that he's gone, as sad as it is. He did a cover, "you never really knew my mind" that I think sums it all up perfectly. When you are in that state of mind, there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that people don't see
@@jndvs95 so true
RIP Chairs Cornell :(
Tragic ..... still hurts like the day
His voice can not be compared. There will never be another Chris Cornell! EVER
HELL YES!
I mean, He's not Roy Orbison or anything. Calm down. Nice cover tho.

If you're fighting depression, you're not alone. Keep fighting. The world is a colder place for this loss. I'm so sad.

34 still counting but he is truly gifted.
Unfortunately one cannot have such a hauntingly beautiful voice without being haunted themselves it would seem. Perfect.
Great talent is often paired with great pain. It is a sad and beautiful tragedy. My deepest sorrow and respect go to Chris and his family. We are lucky to have shared his experience.
So so true
Larry Punter rigjt on
He's had a lot of pain and almost overdosed himself.
Our good performers are under an immense amount of stress to please their fans. I can't imagine the tremendous pressure they are under when performing on an almost daily basis. I will miss Chris and Chad forever.
His death is very sad and inexplicable. Such a beautiful and talented man, a gem on this planet. Missing your light. ❤
Seems like I've never heard a bad version of this song. Maybe its just so beautiful it is impossible to spoil it. Chris really nailed it.
