The defense tried to raise the issue of their families being brought up, this judge brushed it off, and then the *second* they asked her how she would feel if it was her family being referenced she threw a fit and kicked that lawyer out of the courtroom.
She also frequently did not seem to know or understand proper procedure, and constantly asked other officers of the court and the prosecution what she should do.

If you’ll remember back to the guests that cbs had on their show about this case. The ruling that came was different than the one cbs wanted or rather that their so called experts wanted. So it makes sense that they would attack her and her character like this. Especially when you factor in that these ‘experts’ are just an extension of Michael and Sheri redstone (the owners of cbs) and some of the wealthiest people in the United States. Those defense lawyers are lucky that non of the family members jumped towards the defense lawyers like they usually do at the plaintiff's or Judges. How could you be laughing with your killer. I know, I know. Innocent until proven but when you act like that. Families will act upon their feelings. Flipping off the judge, really? This should be highly noted in their future cases. What is our courts coming to? Anyways, judge is hot 🔥 and I'm glad she acted her age and professional self.
The only other judge I've seen with the most greatest speech was that one with the plaintiff what acted as his own lawyer and tried to get every witness to get mad so he could try to throw the case out. Now that case was the craziest. Tried everything to be the most ignorant self representation 🙃 ever. The dude that ran over people in the parade all cuz he got in a argument with his gf. She did a terrible job, which is why she was removed from the bench in her other capital case by the FL Supreme Court, publicly reprimanded by the state bar, and essentially forced to resign. Specifically because of the extreme appearance of bias she allowed to fester. Literally *hugging* the prosecution team and victims' families. It is so beyond inappropriate it sounds made up, like an actual joke. Can you imagine being a defendant who is accused of something by the government, but presumed innocent, walking into that courtroom and hoping to get a fair trial? From the judge that's publicly _hugging_ the prosecution? Good luck! Judges like her get people like Cruz *let out* of prison -- because their convictions get vacated on appeal. Whether or not she was actually biased doesn't matter, the mere appearance of bias violates judicial standards and _the Sixth Amendment_ . The defense wasn’t giving the judge a choice but to react. Was her reaction perfect? No, but I have seen judges react to defense counsel in a similar way when they are “pulling stunts” to try to get a mistrial in a difficult case. I’ve seen a judge in my city snap on the defense who were doing less blatant acts of disrespect to the courtroom (in 2 murder cases). Judges and lawyers are imperfect people like the rest of us. Especially in a case where many children died, I think it was not possible for her to be impartial when this is one of the worst acts the world has ever seen committed by an individual. She might have been doing her best so I definitely understand the inability to be neutral even when it’s your job. Jobs are hard. I understand why the judge overreacted when the lawyer talked about her child. My first thought was the judge whose son was shot and killed at her home because someone was upset with her. She did not want that brought out in the air. At the same time, that lawyer was trying to get her to understand how he felt. It was still inappropriate. Add on, her daughter was the same age as the victims who died, which must have been traumatic for the judge.

He told the judge to imagine it was her child. The context is that the defense team is complaining that during victim impact statements some of the victims demeaned the defense's deplorable actions during the trial, and apparently made some comment about the defense attorneys' children, and in trying to explain the defense's position to these alleged derogatory comments to the judge he thinks bringing her own children into the discussion is applicable, which it is not, but he did not threaten her children in context, and she was reprimanded for this.

This was a very heated trial, and emotional. The defense did a lot of seedy things too and deserved to face some reprimands for sure. That being said, I've seen a lot of judges handle both emotional / heavy cases and handle problematic attorneys and there is just what I would call a "judicial temperament" that some have, that it's a level of patience that very few have. I think it's probably good for her own mental well-being that she stepped down because she was just a bit too easily set off. Judges are gonna have all kinds of emotional and horrible things in the courtroom, including disrespectful people, and they can't let it get under their skin like that or it will mean it's that much easier for others to set them off, so it's probably for the best that she stepped down. Also just for the integrity of the bench and the cases. If this had actually been a real trial with a verdict, her conduct could've led to an appellate issue for sure -- thankfully it ended up not mattering in this case.

Yep. And having to deal with a harsh judge on top of a very stressful and high stakes trial can be a very traumatizing experience. This was a very horrible case and I'm sure everyone's emotions were high having to deal with all of that vicarious trauma. So being snapped at and chastised by a dysregulated or impatient judge when you're trying to do your already very hard and traumatic job is a horrible feeling. Which is why judges need to be very mindful of their power and the tone they set in their courtroom so that they do not make an already very high-stress profession even worse. There's a reason lawyers burn out at such high rates.

But certainly she showed several instances where she could not contain her disdain for the defense .that last act of hugging, the prosecutors was was a queer sign that she could not control her emotions. People seem to forget that public defenders have to take their clients as they come to them. Everyone in that courtroom had a job to do and unfortunately, her lack of temperament made that trial all the more difficult. People should also look at where she's ended up. I love how the defense was so wrong but a Judge can be the same way during a trial of the attorneys start it🙄🤔 So wrong & absurd bc Judges are suppose to handl any type of situation & not respond out of anger or emotion & stay above situations & be able to handle it. Darrell Brooks trial is a prime example, that trial was 10 x's worse than the school shooting &'there were times aaI couldn't watch bc of how he was crazy, disrespectful & rude but Judge D kept it so professional & not once stooped to his level👍. That's why they are Judges & no matter how much a Judge hates the la yers or defendants they aren't suppose to show it.....your "well the defense attorneys started it" & even if that's was true....... a Judg doesn't & shouldn't get a pass to be equally disrespectful back. Oh & keep rewatching the child care mm not wasn't even close but I'm sure it's the best excuse to think of to why she said get out for threatening her child. 👎😞

I’ll never forget the defense team laughing with him at the table as the families of his victims sat there and watched. Horrible team. They’re the ones that should have to defend their character, not this woman that had to put up with them.

This was a highly emotional trial. I think all the lawyers were pushed to their limits. But, this judge lost her decorum on several occasions. Hugging the prosecution team at the end in full view of the public absolutely showed bias. No one watching those hugs could believe a Defendant could receive a fair trial. She should not be viewed as a martyr.

This judge was terrible beyond words can describe. She is unhinged and shouldn't ever have been appointed a judge. Compare this judge to Judge Jennifer Dorow who presided over the most difficult case I could imagine, the guy in Wisconsin who ran over dozens of people in a parade and killed 6 of them. The defendant was constantly disrupting the trial and she handled the chaos beautifully without losing her cool. Also Judge Scherer shouldn't have hugged the victims' families as it sends off a message of impartiality. This judge sucks in every way and so do you most of you in here for coming to her defense.

I don't think she was unhinged at all. She defended herself to obnoxious defense attorneys who didn't care one bit about anything about the trial, or what happened at the school, with the middle finger scene, and the killer laughing about it with her was extremely rude, disrespectful to everyone involved. We know that Cruz didn't care less what happened in court, he was not wanting to die. He didn't care one bit when the families were giving their last remarks about the impact of what he did. He gave expressions when the Guttenburgs were talking...Did anyone see the expression from his face, "Oh, really?" I certainly did. Judge Sherer, Please don't be hard on yourself, you did the best you could. You, drooshmaroosh8261, need a reality check and a stern talking to for your unnecessary comment.

@@cathyulbrich3481 I don't like your comment and find your presence in my YT chat stream somewhat disturbing. Please watch the series of videos of the Waukesha Christmas parade attack trial and you'll see what I mean about Judge Jennifer Dorow and the way a judge should compose herself.

@@drooshmaroosh8261I agree Judge Dorow has the patience of a saint, but she also received backlash for being "weak" and not controlling her courtroom. People with common sense knew Dorow did this to avoid the possibility of a mistrial. I agree Sherer hugging the victims parents was weird, but at the same time, Dorow spent quite a bit of time expressing her feelings to the victims families after the sentencing. It was exactly the same thing as what Sherer did, but with no physical contact.
