The paddles are awesome. My dream is to get out in some soft "dry" desert sand and run my cars around. The beach is kind of a drive from where I live and it always has people everywhere. I need plenty of room when I drive an RC.
Thank you for all the videos! Buying a 124016 and paddles for my boys, also ordering oversized paddles for the Hoss... Which I fully expect will break first as it likes too lol.
However- in looking for paddles, I'm trying to avoid too much rotating mass, so I'm running a lighter narrower paddle! Can you do a tire showdown? Standard, crawler bead locks, belted, paddle, maybe some different widths and surfaces? I know it'd he a lot of filming, but I believe you have the inventory to do it without hunting too much.
A WL brushless would be a great platform, as would a Hoss since it's sorta the edge of 1/10th. Would love to see crawler tires on it too! Maybe with the ol fishing line trick haha.
Another thing that'd be cool to see is locking up rear and center diffs in sand, and on jumps. Did the ol silicone ear plug to the hoss center diff. Way more controllable, doesn't kill front tires, seems to not do backflips so easily off of trees and such which is a weird change.
I'm ordering paddle tires from aliexpress soon for my slash, they are the same ones you put on the other wltoys and went to the beach.
I remember when name brand RC's didn't have that much power. You had to buy power. Sharp little truck.
I was fairly impressed with the performance and durability of it out of the box, for what it is. Just ordered a 3300kv Spektrum brushless system for it as well. Now the electronics are worth more than the truck, but it should be fun.

I think I need one!!!! the motor went out of my 1/14, it had the same electronics as this but I went brushless and it's just too much for that little thing but would be fun in this!!!! Thanks for sharing 👍
Does seem like quite a lot of fun for a budget vehicle and tire. Would have loved to have something like this when I was a kid. Don't be teasing me now with the Rustler... I look forward to seeing that rip on the beach too! 🙂

they over-gear them trying to impress with top speed numbers, is rough on the motor and the ESC section of their boards. if 32p 2-3 tooth smaller pinion, if 48p go 4-5 tooth smaller pinion. only loses a little off the top speed but acceleration is improved, also nicer to the motor+ESC.

I think this is worth buying specifically to take on holiday to the beach.
It's always interesting to me to see where different manufacturers choose to splash out and where they econimise - I'd probably have gone for a 3 wire servo instead of all those lights if I'd been speccing this truck out, but I guess most punters would rather have lights, and WL Toys know that.
Its pretty quick for just brushed i only have one brushless and i run it on NIMH packs, too scared to go lipo i have a bad habbit of running pack after pack through it with no rest times

first pack the LVC kicked in.. if it has one. running sand does pull more current than harder dirt of course. WLtoys does have a rep for over-gearing trying to impress with top speed numbers, they usually do better with 2-3 tooth smaller pinion gear. sand.. if ya can, stretch a bit of women's nylons over the motor vents to keep it out of the motor, and possibly the gearbox too through the motor. it ran pretty good tho!

Running this brushed would be ideal for someone younger, just getting started. Then upgrading when they get the hang of it. Both sets of sand paddles you've run are awesome! I just need to find a car to put some on?! 🤔😂

I I have the 12402-A as well that is the same truck and mine cuts out also. I think its the crap electronics. This model is much better quality though... both bodies are interchangeable

This or the WLToys from a few weeks ago? I've only ever had "Argos Specials" RC cars, so not really sure what to go for as a cheap starter car. The suzuki jimny you reviewed looks good too, but reckon I'll trash it in no time...

It would have been good to see a comparison run with the stock wheels then the sand paddles to show the difference.
Slap a cheap 40-50$ brushless combo in it and it will fly , the combo i ordered for my 124018 ( Surpass Hobby 3650 3100KV or 3900KV with a 60amp esc combo ~45$ ).

Luv you Tomley. But please never take brushed cars to sand. I can tell you from sad experience that brushed motors have holes that let sand in and kill the motor. Brushless only at the beach

bang for the buck, yeah WLtoys because parts are pretty well available.
you can have fun right away, upgrade the electronics later, slap the stock electronics into a scratch built boat or air-boat after waterproofing.

I have to say it's the most disappointing WLtoys so far for me. Even on stock electronics I kept breaking hub carriers and cvd's with light to moderate bashing. Brushless will break your chassis for sure. I think it's a bit of a lemon to be fair.
I’ve already got one Brushless. It’s the older body style, but the same chassis. Runs well 👌

If wl toys would sell stuff with no electronics for cheaper it be a lot better. People seem to have some stupid idea that brushless is only to make cars faster. Running a good brushless can save a lot of energy and give lot longer run time. This entire obsession with over gearing and speed is Bad for the hobby.
