Credit where it's due, this is a shockingly *alright* looking car appearance wise, sure it's just a baby X-maxx but I think it comes out quite nice
While you were running I was thinking, that's a cute little thing. Right after I thought it you said it. If I was a kid, would be excited to have that. Can remember my first RC, was a Tyko buggy. Ran on 8AA batteries. Me and my dog had some good times. Thanks for the memories 😁.
Aluminium arms on a basher is a no go, for every reason you said. Learnt this the hard way. I put aluminium arms, knuckles and hinge pin holders on the mt4, accidentally hit a pole… ripped the entire front end of the car including bulk head and twisted the chassis. It even damaged the actual front end diff as well.
Perfect car for a small kid with the speed control limit, looks the part with LED and wheels and seems to handle nicely. I checked the price point and it stays within the budget for a Xmas present for most people. Thanks for being so sensible in the review, too easy to fall into the YT trap of slamming it or getting hyper-excited. I’ve seen a few kids with brush-motor WLToys at my local track and the cars perform all right. Keep inspiring!
these go good with 2200mah 50c lipo and fits inside tray..not a basher though, good backyarder for 15min runs on lipo.. gotta grease the metal diffs out of box.
has alloy arms as old model the plastic would snap from the smallest of impacts( i once dropped the car on the ground and 1 crack). i went through loads then bought the alloy not bent or broke a arm since.

Looks like that's a five wire servo. If you want to upgrade it you're going to have to upgrade basically everything.

For the speed do you think you need to run it on 3s cuz what I've noticed is with ALL Wltoys they always lie on the box the speed is actually achieved from a 3s lipo and not the 2s that it comes with not sure if this can handle 3s though
the cover of the 124008 manual still says 1/12 climbing car. I guess at some point they had a 1/12 climbing car?
Most likely just a bad translation, no calls any car a "climbing car". LoL. It's probably meant to say "off-road" or something. Or maybe even a "crawler"? 🤷♂️
@@AussieRCPlayground i'd guess a direct translation of crawler, which is probably an American term? I know the aussie term ute doesn't translate into American where everything is a truck.
I think its funny that wltoys change the picture but not the english text though, the manual contents are absolutely fine, it shows a "good enough" attitude which I like

@@Top-Jimmy at 100aud it'd be great if kmart stocked them, or any of the other super budget RC cars, at that price i wouldn't expect much, but you can upgrade shocks/motor/esc/receiver/servo. But once you'd done that you'd have spent more money than if you'd just bought something good. Now they have the plastic 1/12 chassis, I hope they come out with a decent budget monster truck, the 124008 buggy is a lot of car for the 150aud

Haha, it’s just the Wltoys 12402-A with a different shell.. they must’ve had a heap laying around and thought they would sell if they had a Maxx body on them..

Very Controversial comment. For the money, in my opinion they’re great. Yes, steering isn’t precise, but for a cheap quick and pretty sturdy RC with plenty of cheap parts available, I don’t think you can go far wrong!
