I just swapped mine to brushless and WOW it’s exactly what it needed. It’s a great platform to start with for sure! There are a few squirks though

Where did you see 20-30kph Phil? I got very close to the 45kph on a 2S lipo and just under 60kph on a 3s in my video. Overall not a bad little truck. Converted mine to brushless
30 'odd' km/h (20 mph)... I've not seen over 40 with the stock battery. Decent truck

For the money it’s pretty good. It’s no speed machine, but we’ll balanced and decent suspension. My other one has survived a Brushless conversion, so drivetrain seems solid
Good review . I just ordered one the other day , They're still around the same price. They sell a brushless version too, but i opted for the brushed so I can upgrade it myself . I like the styling and light package they've done on this one .
You really don't want to use droop screws to set ride height. This basically eliminates down travel in the suspension and will lead to poor handling off-road. Those springs are already too long / stiff.

In my opinion,a HSP Wolverine is similar price is a real 1/10 scale and on Brushed can handle up to 3S before upgrading.
So perfect for kids to start and grow with it until go for a Brushless.
So personally I like the 12402A I think is a great car.
Please made a video upgrading this to brushless motor.

Its a nice looking truck, very colourful abit more effort from wltoys, i wouldnt be keen on the metal arms for bashing but i suppose they get rid of some of the flex stiffen it up abit. Worth the money though n i should imagine a decent brushless motor n the right gearing it will be rapid.

Buying an RC car from China is like buying a shirt or pants in Asia. They're always a size or 2 smaller. Lol but this time, it's a bit worse with the new wltoys truck.

Not bad for what it is but not great value when you compare it to the HobbyKing brushless Quanum Vandal (same as the £199 FTX Vantage) for £64. OK, it's ARR so you'll need radio gear,battery and charger but a steal if you alrewady own that
Why is there so much choice in the around £100 mark. I have no idea what one to buy now. Back when I was younger im sure the choice wasn't so hard haha. What to buy? haha. I was looking at FTX but now seeing this im not sure.

These are the prices from one of the reputable shops in Hong Kong, surprisingly it's cheaper here than online stores in China.
12482-B and 12482 = 48 pounds
12429 = 53 pounds
144001 = 56 pounds
104009= 61 pounds
124018=73 pounds
Which one would you recommend to buy in terms of built quality and speed. Is it worth the 20 pounds for 124018?

Good morning, where I live there is no asphalt, I need a strong and fast car, I'm between the destroyer and the wltoys 104009, Which one is the best?
This car has low gear quality, mine has broken diff gear, even though it still using stock motor.

I got 12402a. It is fun but front axles break like crazy and the front diff breaks a lot to. When it runs it runs hard but. We 'll see how it is in snow soon. Stay warm.

Lmao! Got mine today and instead of correcting the scale on the box they corrected it on the booklet. They just put a sticker with 1:10 on top of 1:12! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Would love to see a battle of the desert buggies. I'm torn between the ZD Racing DBX10 and now the FS Racing 53910. Both great prices. Late to the party on the FS Racing, reviews are from 3 or 4 years ago but it still looks very very good for the money! Very well spec'd brushed electrics and radio gear 👍

@@TomleyRC really liking the FS Racing 53910 as a good 1/10th desert buggy that seems pretty well spec'd and tough. FS Racing obviously make the FTX DR8 so definitely have some pedigree! Really cheap too. Mind brushless conversion and it could be a winner 🏆

@@philthyco1 The FS Racing is definitely top of my current wishlist for a 1/10 desert racer 👍. Just need to get a brushless system in, which will be easy with the current electrics not having 2 in 1 receiver/esc like some of the cheaper stuff

I've bought a wltoys crawler and every time I use it it breaks, gonna fix for one last time and get rid of it .

It does the job they always say it’s faster on the box but I like it aswell. A little brushless motor n esc combo 4 $30-40 and a few adjustments and you’ve a good little basher for not a lot of money. I was on the fence but may try one now? Good vid 👍

I still have the wltoys d7 (i forgot the name so im calling it d7) i made my d7 fpv and brushless and i can't find anny gears only body parts
I’m sure they share the gears with another model… might be worth asking on the WLtoys group of you are on Facebook
@@TomleyRC i kinda did that long time ago you will know if you live in the philippines the online shop it kinda good but they don't sale anny wltoys d7 gears there plastic and they kinda hard to find
i was looking for something to run mostly on sand. Should i get this or the Feiyue FY08 for $100? the other option is the new 124016 which is about 140$ at my place. Thank you 😊. great vid by the way.
I had the fy08... there plastic is brittle and there differentials are weak if you want something for the sand get a d7 it takes a bashing and is one of the cheapest wltoys
The D7 (12402-a) is really good. And it’s a 12 mm hex, so you could get some sand paddle tyres for it 👍
