Been out ripping my Maverick Quantum Flux R (what a mouthful) truck this weekend, couldn't recommend it more if you are after something to Hoon around a car park.
Thanks for looking out for us, priorities and all that. I had no idea how addicting the RC hobby is. Its ALMOST as expensive as the Marijuana hobby i had before it. 😂
I think this is one of your best videos ever. Especially, when you consider current inflation. It gives the viewers some choices in the current environment. I agree with your selection of the two Traxxas vehicles. They're great for kids because the esc's have a practice mode and in the states parts are available everywhere. I would love to have an MT10. Have you ever tested the MT10 in a rock quarry or on a crawling course? It's probably too big for a crawling course. Maybe you can invent a new class for monster truck crawlers. Thank you.
@@TomleyRC Because I am considering a Rustler, I rewatched this video and your video on the Rustler last year. You had a lot of very good things to say about it as you ran it around the skatepark. What struck me was how smooth it seemed and quiet.
Yeah budget rc drift car a saw the guy said 599 plus this and that about 200 dollars plus for new servo new radio and a better gyro so affordable for 700 bucks and has the gut to say yeah it's budget because some rc cars twice as expensive... :,D
2245 here in Arkansas USA!! Sorry Tomley I've been on vacation with the family down in Florida! Back home and got some vids to catch up on!! Thanks for the vids Tomley as always exquisitely done!
Have the ftx ravine, hbx 16889 brushed and pro brushless and flyhal fc610. Guess I am a budget guy but couldn't be happier with my choices. Cheap cars, cheap parts, cheap batteries and a lot of fun. Would love to add a small crawler and a buggy like vantage but brushless version. For a minimalist like me, this hobby is becoming maximalist!
I brought the Mt10 the middle of last year thanks to your videos on it. Don't regret it one bit! it's an absolute beast! Outshines all the other bashers I have from Traxxas and HPI. Haven't broken a thing on it yet, it's even gone full throttle into a tree stump, I also only run it on 3s and its been to multiple skate parks and BMX tracks. I have given it hell but it keeps coming back for more. Honestly it's the only basher I use now as I know it won't fail me. The rest i'm looking at selling on to afford my trail/crawler addiction.
mt10 is defo a beast.so glad I finally got one.its an little animal.and I I don't think anyone can go wrong with any of the ftx range you showed.great value for money in my opinion.ive got a £600 TRX 4 and a £200 ftx fury and to be honest they are quite close in performance.another great job Phil👍
I need a MT10 :) Was thinking of sand paddle tyres for mine and my sons slash 2wd. Instead we took the FTX Kanyon to the beach as a test. Long story short I wont be getting paddle tyres or take an RC to the beach again. It was a brand new car and rusted quickly before we got home a couple days later. Took a couple days scrubbing all parts after a full dismantle and still cant get rust off some bits. The bearing are knackered and need to buy new ones to put my sons car back together. :/
Yeah. Unfortunately, I have to live vicariously through these videos 😢 Got my son an r/c car and our charger was stolen from our car while at the park and still can’t afford a new one. Some people suck!

yeah had the same issue, rookie error, I found those wheel caps came off too and now don`t use them at all. Got some of those nice blue wheel nuts as replacements and look great.
Another great video Phil. You only need to look at my collection and watch a few of your videos to to know that my choices have been heavily influenced heavily by you and I have not been let down by any of the cars that you love. Thank you
Ftx vantage is BEAUTIFUL but handing-wise its sucks..it lucks character and i could not customize it to follow my driving style..but it is one of the most harmonic buggy shapes ever made..period (sold it miss the looks not the handling.)

Good advice in the beginning about paying your rent and so forth before spending money on rc cars. Just the other day I saw a homeless guy with an extensive, beautiful rc collection. I was just like, dude really? He was even using one of his bigger rc trucks to pull around his shopping cart
Great video buddy 😊 especially for some one like me who's not got a clue what is out their 😂 bet I'd be entertained looking at your shelfs for a few hours 😂 keep well pal 🙋♂️
Hi tomley, briefly met you today at tixover. Noticed you filmed my boy with his truck and just wanted to say you have my full permission to put him and his truck in your next video if that's what you was filming for 😃 he would love to see himself on RUclips. Nice to briefly meet you.
I have an FTX OUTLAW BRUSHLESS.. excellent machine! 2s 45mph (£200 RTR) My front diff broke early on so it became RWD... I expected the rear to follow soon after due to having 2x torque but it just didn't 😄 🤣 I took it drifting on every bit of dusty gravel all around my house lol toooo much fun! But finally I was doing a fat wheelie along my council estate 😄 🤣 it suddenly went left, I dropped the power to get the steering back but at about 30mph it hit the centre stand of a moped (luckily didn't mark it!) And died spectacularly 😄 🤣 I need a whole new front end
Great video Phil, I have 3 of those from your previous recommendations😂. My latest the MT10 I took out for its first run today at EAST, it lived up to its reputation 👍
Definitely like the MT10. It's great. The slash is also a great budget basher, the thing can take a beating. Especially if you get one used. Though, probably a bit less than the MT10.
Hey Tomley, Nice little vid this one, some great tips and realIy enjoy your content. Just wanted to say that was a nice sentiment about cost of living and spending on the important things first, can probably get out of hand spending on this brilliant hobby. Thanks for the radix 6 vid I say no more! I'm very tempted in adding a crawler to my collection so appreciate the tip on these. Big up to the MT10, awesome truck. I have to say with mine, as well as losing a wheel of first run, the motor mounts and pinion came loose (2nd or 3rd in a skate park) so all needed nipping up, luckily the spur was fine. Did you find that? Taking nothing away from the awesomeness of the truck though!
As a former full size land rover trials driver many years ago its a pity the gearing isn't to scale as well. Low ratio should be low. 5th gear flat out in low would be lucky to reach 30mph.
FTX have pretty much disenfranchised thier customer base with the price of the new 'Outback Tracker' though = 'RGT Rescuer' that was £275 in January 2022 via Aliexpress & Asiatee's. The FTX branded version is £499rrp! That is Traxxas 2021 TRX4 Bronco money £499 = no brainer.
Does anyone know of any actual shops in the UK that stock WL toys? I live on a narrowboat so getting deliveries is a PIA, and tbh I much prefer the buying experience in a real shop!
Great video and thoughtful disclaimer up front. It IS an addictive hobby. It’s got everything: running, building, fixing, collecting. Easy to dump a bunch of money in it. I’ve got the 2WD Rustler, brushed. On a 2S lipo, it’s good fun, easy to drive, handles a good mix of surfaces. Worth every penny, IMO. Out of my own “fleet” the Big Rock may be the best value when looking at cost vs. performance. Tough, fast, steers, jumps, and rides great.
great video.are you gonna try and get the rlaarlo xdkj 006 it has a 99 dollar promo on release date 200 after that.all carbon and brushless i think it is in between the wltoys 104010 and the lc racing buggy.
I think they are good. I think I ran slightly faster lap times with my stock Maverick Strada TC evo but i think it depends more on the driver and not the car.

Epic mate! Hehe, I must be a skinflint because I have three of those of which you spake! FTX Ravine was purchased completely unintentionally, obviously, as I was browsing around in Action Model Center, Torquay. 2 yrs ago it was £109 RTR! It just seemed rude not to buy it! And it's actually cheaper now in some places at £105!!! The Traxxas Rustler came used from Ebay £145 complete with 2 batteries IIRC, and Team Associated MT10 was new from Wheelspin Models £250. £289 now. All great value for money as the last two are tough and fast enough for me on 8.4v NIMH and the first was amazing for 109!
