Mine is setup as a drag car with the proline pinto body. It has drag slicks and a wheelie bar but mostly stock parts. You have to make sure the alignment is right and balanced tires help. With the 33/76 gearing and a 3s I ran it both ways on my road. It ran 71mph down and 73 back. It would go more with a little more pinion but when a bandit truly brakes 70mph it's out of control haha.
60 ain’t bad…and to keep the nose down at them speeds being 2 wheel drive ain’t bad? I luv my 2wheel drive buggies and always liked the look of the bandit, great bash 😎🙏
I get a rash every time I see a Traxxas and at the same time I laugh as Traxxas tries to highlight their electronics, which tend to be pretty messy with buzzwords like "VXL" "Velinon" when the ESC doesn't even mount a fan when supposed to work up to 3s... But Traxxas fans love to fill their mouths (and heads) with the word in question, you know, Velineon puwah, baby! Traxxas proprietary connectors, chargers and batteries are "the best in the world" also known as "the first thing the user changes and throws away". For the price of that Bandit, you can get, say, a Kyosho Inferno Neo 3.0 VE, which just makes the Bandit look like a toy, just to mention one of the infinitely better options you could get for the money. . But anyway... Traxxas is Traxxas and no one lies and cheats like Traxxas.
Mine went in the bin after the rear arms ripped the pin through the chassis, not heavy collisions, was being gentle on a smooth carpark too, was not happy considering it was the second time I pulled it out.
The Traxxas Bandit, one of my favourite three RC cars. The others being Traxxas Summit (my favourite, alongside its 1/16 counterpart), and the Traxxas X-Maxx. But the Bandit has one more thing going for it, it looks like a true buggy. Narrow in the front, wide in the back. Too bad there are few buggies in that style available now. I am curious how the Kyosho Javelin will hold up (my next build) being the closest looking rc car to a buggy, besides the Traxxas Bandit.
Nice one mate, It seems that thing runs smooth as silk, and take some bad landings and crashes at the same time, I already want to see what It can do with the bigger pinion!!
I think you should use Traxxas batteries on Traxxas models for have best performance, especially on 3s models. I saw some videos where they can't reach full speed without Traxxas batteries but with them they reached more than the speed on the box. Anyway you are right about the fact that they should put speed gearing in the box. And the worst thing is that they don't make the pinion and you have to go for an aftermarket one.
Not really; as long as voltage and current is the same it will be the same performance. Sure some super cheap no name sticker tuned China batteries may impair performance. Traxxas is an OK brand, had lots of their cars. Good value and great parts support.
What battery were you using for your test? If it is some cheaper brand then it wouldn't surprise me that you're not hitting the speeds stated on the box. Most battery manufacturers with the exception of companies like cnhl, tattoo, gnb lie about their c ratings.
Good vid once again. I considered getting one of these back around 06/7 when I was getting back into the hobby. From what I know of them, they are pretty good build quality, tough and you can get decent speed from them, like you just did. If a beginner had the money and asked me about these I'd say yeah they are a good bashing buggy. I still consider getting one for sh*ts and giggles.

And then to watch an industry of influencers push this garbage just means we are making it more and more difficult to get decent products at a decent price for the masses, instead of cheap prices for garbage for the masses. You should keep that in mind. I enjoy your content otherwise... :)
@@lburgguy I bought a 1/14th Reflex 14b and the 144001 at the same time. The Reflex, even though it is basically ALL plastic is a much, much, much more refined RC car. It is the one I am using.
@@DESOUSAB very cheap steel screws for sure do that.
I don’t know what the differences besides tire size but my new style rustler that I got yesterday went 72 miles an hour on 3S stock tires and all
Tom I like how you call out the worst part of RC ,the BS!I had a ad pop up a minute ago for a Vendetta and really would love to hear your thoughts on it out of the box! See if it lives up to the CORNY RAP SONG IN THAT AD
it does look nice and drives good to be fair bud, great video 👍🐿
Aren't 2s batteries 8.4v when charged? Like how a charged 12v lead battery is closer to 14v when charged
Yeah that are for a bit, then drop off. Hence why the speed on the 2s Lipo is the same as the 8.4v power pack
Very Nice video this Bandit look awesome
Yeah, feels nice and solid at 60…. gonna see if I can get the magic 70 at some point!
@@TomleyRC it would be good to see if the gear change gets you to 70mph? 🤔👍
To hold the front end down, most add weights. Then, with the added weight, does it hurt speed? That thing is not a real basher, is it?
Seems pretty planted with no weight
I miss the TRX-1 and 3. I ran them for almost 2 years when they were still trying to make quality buggys.
Nice buggy, looks great,200squid aint bad😀👍👍
Do you have a v5 6a typhoon?
No, had a V4 a while back
@@TomleyRC I will say if you get one the v5 6s get some spare tyres lol
It sounds so smooth, never heard quieter rc
That new Magnum transmission is sick
Mine went in the bin after the rear arms ripped the pin through the chassis, not heavy collisions, was being gentle on a smooth carpark too, was not happy considering it was the second time I pulled it out.
Run it one the grass hops with 3s,not to crazy, see what the weight diffrence with the battry makes!! Wonder if its to heavy Great vid bud!!
Nice little buggy, looked like it was moving pretty fast.
Yeah, nice and solid
I remember being 10 years old looking in the summit racing catalog seeing this, i wanted one so bad back then Lol
Yes, I really like the bandit (and 2wd Rustler). I also have a Summit. Decent stuff 👌
I got one for my birthday def needs the heavy duty drive shaft for 3s my stock ones broke in a day
so why don't you see more bandits in rc racing? the clay or carpet tracks?
Not bad for a Traxxas. My old Castle powered HPI Blitz still wins though.
I never new they updated the chassis on the rustler. I kinda want one now
When you taking it to the beach ? I reckon it'll love it ! 😀
Vxl bandit with a 3s battery was my first rc car got her a year ago and now she is a beast
Nice review. been looking at one of these for a while now. May be tempted.
You should have asked Traxxas what you needed to make it through 70
I wonder what they would have said 😅
Nice one mate, It seems that thing runs smooth as silk, and take some bad landings and crashes at the same time, I already want to see what It can do with the bigger pinion!!
Very impressive little buggy!
50 weight silicone oil for the shocks don't forget about the aluminum shock caps
Did you not review one last year woth some tamiya buggy? Just when you saidni named it bandi it rung a bell lol heard you saying that before!?
Traxxas blocked you! Love it 😂
I think you should use Traxxas batteries on Traxxas models for have best performance, especially on 3s models.
Gensace 6500mah 60c. A pair of them pushed my 'Stock' Infraction past 90mph with the speed pinion
@@TomleyRC oh okay that should have done the trick
I just started collecting traxxas models, so far I got a udr and a trx4 new bronco, next up is the 1/16 e-revo
Haha that backwards clip whare it bunny hopped like on your bike was cool lol 10.54
I can't be the only one replaying the intro blooper
Haha… nearly knocked my camera over!
I just got me another one 3 months ago I got the black and orange and white with a baby blue stripe on it
News to the channel but I love your honesty keep it up
Good vid once again.
