Debe hacer una banda para el con mejores talentos como Satriani. Thomas a la audición y encontró luego su espacio, Virgil ya tenía el suyo con Steve Vai. Por lo tanto Mangini debe armar el suyo con buenos talentos.
There was never any doubt it was gonna be Mangini. Just look how excited they are to be playing with him. None of the other guys got to them like that.
No creas.
Incredible would be an understatement. Petrucci scares me when he solos... there's a depth to it and a mastery that is honestly terrifying in the best way possible. All around freak talented band.
Thank You Fikri, for posting this excerpt! I have watched the initial audition and was impressed with Mike's performance and was happy to learn they brought him onboard to the team-now almost ten years later. But this bit here was not on the audition and it's stunning to see how Mike interacts and contributes or ad-libs to anything they throw at him in this dynamic interaction. It is so cool to witness. This is a great test and testament to Mike's inspiring and creative genius to work with these incredible musicians and make it seem like Mike is or has always played with them. I am in complete awe at his delicacy and tasteful interpretations. While the Dream Theater are busy and looking down at their own instruments, Mike is gauging and watching them and fulfils a what seems like an impossibility to many to master the pocket-all on the Fly. They don't even flinch at his nuances. Amazing.
I would for sure pay good money for an album with this kind of music in it. I don't know.... say DT members' side project.... maybe call it "Watery Stress Experimentation"
I understand that people feel compelled to compare musicians to one another, especially since they're both involved in the same music projects/bands. To me, it's still like comparing apples to oranges... each brings his particular 'flavor' of drumming, each affects the other members of the band differently (thus affecting the overall feel of the music), each has strengths and weaknesses (although it's REALLY hard to spot any weakness in either drummer). Let's all agree to disagree and say 'this band just flat out kicks ass'... right?
Good point, i prefer mangini but i get why people prefer portnoy, i prefer mangini because i started listening to them after mangini joined so i got used to him being in the band.

mike mangine one of the best drummer in the world. he plays drum with different way with portnoy. Mangini and portnoy are make a rock music to be feel more luxury... thank for one decades plus with DT Mangini.
We will miss you mike. Thank you for your 13 years of DT.
This was an audition. Most bands would be lucky to call this a music video.
I wish from the bottom of my heart that Mike finds space again in a place as magical as the one he found all these years with Dream Theater

Just dropping by here after hearing the news of MP's return. I wish them all the best

Omfg... He s perfect drummer for this band.
Dream Theatre are the only band that I can listen to where the percussion can be listened to as a lead instrument rather than a time keeper
I would say anything with Gavin Harrison on drums as well
Hahaha agreed man
might i tell you, casiopea also all round band.try listen conjunction by casiopea
Mastodon
When I first saw him with extreme in 1995 he was that good...perfect drummer for that band. MIke's like a musical trapeze artist.
I did not know he was in Extreme.
Incredible would be an understatement. Petrucci scares me when he solos... there's a depth to it and a mastery that is honestly terrifying in the best way possible. All around freak talented band.
I came here looking to see if I'd like the new drummer enough to see them live if john was gonna be on guitar.... I might have to get a ticket!
That audition was a f***ing nightmare. Mangini is way too good.
I love how he can take whatever Jordan threw at him.
I can literally watch this chemistry for hours and years, always randomly come back here
Me too. 2022 and im here again 🤣
2023
Came for the drumming, stayed for the guitar. Incredible musicians
He has GREAT taste and dynamics, something to be appreciated in metal band appart from purely technical skills

Loved the other guys, but I'm so glad they got Mike Mangini!
Mangini brings an honesty to the drums that is extremely rare, just listen!
I would for sure pay good money for an album with this kind of music in it.

Hahahaha
then you are in for a surprise, specially in 2020
I know I am pretty off topic but does anyone know a good website to stream new series online ?
@Keaton Felipe Flixportal :)
@Anders Kaiden Thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :) I appreciate it!!
Great improv . this is by far his best Drum Sounding Stuff with DT so Far !!!
Thomas Lang is the anime villain. Mike Magini is the protagonist. 😝

Pretty damn good improv. This was probably a huge part of what sold them on Mike M.
thats the ultimate test
Virgil improvisaba más y no fue elegido
You'll be missed, MM... so sad to hear the news recently. But the spirit must carries on... welcome MP
Rudess and Petrucci trying to blind a drummer with meaningless jams in E, but they failed. Well done Mangini
What does it mean jams in E?

He ate all of it for breakfast.
@@thomasflores7817 Ruedess and Petrucci thought they could get away with it😅
Scale means nothing to an improv jam from a drummers perspective lol
So this is how they've been making songs. Interesting. John said most of dream theater's songs are from improvisation.
Magnini absolutely killed this audition
I'm glad Mike hired them.
I will miss mangini!! Was a great era but can’t wait to see what portnoy’s new era!!

2023 MIKE MANGINE LEAVES THE DREAM THEATER FOR RETURN THE MIKE PORTNOY
Mereceu o posto!!!
toca muito esse cara!!!
I love slow part of JP so much. It's beautiful ❤

This. I need all of this.
Mike mangini has a great personality anyone would love to work with someone like him it's not just about talent and technique
Mike is a beast.
Witch one of Mike's?
I miss Portnoy , isnt the same music without him , Mangini overacting faces and trying to feels Portnoy doesnt go away , isnt the same music 👎

these jams are much better than some of the recent tracks they recorded...
Aw man, don’t be mean to em! Can’t have a 10/10 every time, ya know
08:13 - 13:09 reminds me the epic song, A Change of Seasons..
Mike.. you are super genius👍
Even just in their jamming session I will pay good money just to watch them
thanks for share it! :D
Monstro demais!!!
Legend and will always be a part of DT
No wonder Mangini got the Job!
Ada yg kesini setelah info mike portnoy balik lagi??
BTW, Mangini sebenernya ngundurin diri apa gimana sih?
DT is song sung long.Problem does not come from drums. He comes from lack of new ideas.
He is used to playing aiong side great guitarists.
Yeah ,maybe he was a best guitarist in the wold ... Subscribe me on ruclips.net/user/Fikrirogers , Thanks
11:40 That intense finalé lead!!
So cold, John Myung was playing🥶
the solo at 8:42 is just beautiful
The chord progression is doing the trick
Is there a song name to John's solo
Jazz metal fusion I like it
master... :)
Rocks!
Thank the forces that be that this band chose Mangini for their drummer instead of Lars Ulrich!!!!
lars ulrich didn't audition for this lol
Spoodermen Produktionz
He's trolling...hopefully...
@@jordanphillips3593 ok boomer
Actually, when Liquid Tension Experiment was formed, Portnoy's main option was to hire Lars as the band's drummer

I am a Portnoy lover. The fuck... Mangini is... God!!!!
DT鼓手面试終将载入史册,我看Mangini通过面试的时刻都哭了
Encaixe perfeito
Around 5:00 and 6:30 is insane
John Petrucci is always at his Best when he improvises.
impressive
Mangini looks like a young kid but he's around 40 in this vid.
ikr and if I had been in such a situation I'll be nervous and wouldn't be able to play
Keren kali
Nice Joe Satrianisound.

Mike should play with slipknot
This sounds like a liquid tension drum audition lol
When the masters "jam" lol
8:40 Petrucci haciendome erizar la piel
Mike Mangini kind of reminds me of the second American Ninja…Not Michael Dudikoff but David Bradley.
I love Portnoy and Dream Theater...Mangini is the better drummer.
