I love when Chris and Brad are on!! I get more out of them than the Doctor and my own Pharmacist. Thanks guys!
Great information! My mom is currently experiencing knee pain, will try this. Love this channel!
I had stubborn Achilles tendonitis that was resistant to treatment for months that made it difficult to walk even a mile. Voltaren gel got it under control and got me back on the trails. It also helps my arthritic knees. I swear by the stuff.
I had that for a while (like over a year) - a real problem. I ended up lifting weights and that really eliminated the pain, swelling, soreness over six months of diligent training. I can't recommend a trainer and a weight lifting routine highly enough. It hasn't returned, I've dropped some weight over the last year, and everything is stronger. I think I'd like to try Voltaren gel for my arthritic knee.
My husband has this terrible on one foot. Will try it.
@@lexwaldezwhat are side effects from the gel
How long did u use it and how often pls tell me thank you
@@readwithrahma I followed the dosing instructions, but I consistently used the maximum and most frequent dosing for 2 -3 weeks. I think that's the key. I don't think just using it intermittently would have worked.
Tart Cherry Juice is a great Anti-inflammatory for Arthritis pain and sleep.
Extremely informative video. Thank you! ❤
Thanks for the knowledge ✅
I'm sold. I'm going to give Voltaren a try. Thank you!
Great info! Just discovered this recently..it works
My second use helped my sciatica nerve pain
You guys are great I’ll try it, also the nose product for high blood pressure going to try that too thanks
Thank you for the information
Chris the pharmacist is great! 👍
This has been available over the counter for many years in the UK. I find it very effective. Several years ago I overstretched a knee tendon and this gel both relieved the pain and allowed me to keep moving.
In the mid 2000's the UK wanted it pulled from the market.
This is SO helpful! A rheumatologist prescribed this for my arthritic hand several years ago - but never once mentioned that it is cumulative! So when I felt no relief after a day, I just thought it was a big waste of money! (She also didn’t mention that it’s just meant to use a week at a time.). I stopped going to her and stuck to Tylenol - but now I think I should go buy a tube. Thank you!!!
My doctor didn't tell me either. But it's very clear on the directions inside the box.
I’ve been having ankle pain off and on for months and finally got this product tonight. Watching this was very informative and I feel comfortable using it now that I have some info. Hopefully my pain will subside if not go away all together!
Love the channel - Get well Bob! I purchased the empty 'roll-on' bottles at target and filled them with Voltaren so I could administer without goo-ing up my hands and I can get to hard-to-reach areas. I am 3 months post-ACDF surgery- the surgeon suggested voltaren as I build and work the Rhomboids and Trap muscles after surgery.
Thanks! Great channel!
Definitely works , I had terrible rib pain from a boxing injury, I used the gel and it kept the pain down , brilliant 👍
I did not find it takes repeated doses to feel pain relief. It worked right away, and I save it for when pain gets really bad in one area (rarely). This stuff is good to have just in case when joint pain becomes intolerable.
VERY helpful and Chris, I’m glad to see that you recognize that Bob and Brad are world famous. 💕
I have kidney disease and knee pain. My nephrologist approves of Voltaren gel . NSAIDS can harm kidneys, but very little topical gels will penetrate the blood stream. Great product! I love it!
Same here. Kidney disease keeps me from taking ibuprofen which was my go-to for pain. Voltaren has been very effective for my arthritic knees.
At 2:20 explain how the hip doesn’t work with it
Use medical cannabis oil
@@leemcneely4964great stuff, extremely expensive though
Thank you doc
I have has success with Voltaren , but often break into a rash and skin peels a few days later.
Very helpful.
So what would you suggest to use for hip flexor pain?
I have Crohns disease and cannot take motrin/ibuprofen without abdominal pain, bleeding and or ulcers. My pain management MD just recommended this for my arthritis and Crohns related joint inflammation. I can’t wait to try this because BioFreeze isn’t working for me anymore.
As a cert Pharm tech I was counting diclofenac sodium since 1998. When I worked at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle every pain management Pharmacist I worked with said that the cream was not as effective as the pills because of absorption.
Both the oral voltaren and the gel work wonders for inflammation.
I've been taking Ibuprofen and Tylenol arthritis for lower back pain. Just started the lidocaine patch because I was worried about the side affects from the oral meds. This looks like a good option to try. At least I may be able to cut back significantly on the oral meds. Thanks!
I have had back pain for decades. I have also broken my back in four places. I started on line physical therapy. I wear two sensors and follow on line for about twenty minutes a few times a week. It’s been a game changer and I would say I am about 90 percent better. Good luck
I’ve love an update as to what you guys think of Volteran after trying it. I just started using it 3 days ago for Achilles tendinitis, and just this evening it appears to be feeling a little better.
THIS STUFF WORKS!!!! It’s seriously the only pain reliever I’ve ever used that gives nearly instant relief. I use it for knee and lower back pain.
I thought you couldn't use it on your back? Pls reply I have a tube of this and haven t tried because of that btw I have chronic back pain. Ty
Great on skin for sun allergy.
Excellent information, I'm going to try it. #FeedTheAlgorithm
Sadly, this has been prescribed to me for my hip revision pain and I even questioned how it could get to the joint (or, lack of a joint). I do use it on a sore shoulder and it works great.
Not a doctor, but for inner hip (socket) pain and inflammation, diclofenac isn't Rx'ed. But I believe outer tissue inflammation and pain for things like hip (G-Trochanter) bursitis, I-T band etc does get relief in many, like me.
As you probably know, Bob & Brad have done some great P-T videos on that injury and treatment. Would Chris (or B & B) specifically address the diclofenac topical 1% specifically for outer hip injuries like hip bursitis, I-T band inflammation etc - need to find whether my relief was placebo?
Works super great on both of my shoulders. It is the only thing that works
Great you answered my question above
Aspirin upsets the stomach of some, and mild bleeding. The other NSAIDS avoid this, however, are extremely detrimental to our microbiome. So follow up with pre and probiotics.
I'm a soccer player and I used voltaren for as long as I remember, it was a bummer to find out it's prescription only when I moved to the states, glad they decided to make it otc
My doctor (I'm in the US) recommenced I order the 3% Voltaren from Amazon Canada. I tried for a couple days didn't feel a difference so think I'll try again.
I have two rods in my right thigh. I also have nerve damage. I can't take the medicine for nerve damage. Will this help
Hi! Thanks guys! I have a skin condition called Bullae Pemphigoid. (Is it called Blister disease in English?) Well, I've had this condition now for over 7 months, and the itching drives me nuts sometimes! I get redish patches and bumps and lumps, and the skin has become thinner. I often scratch untill i bleed. Well , Today, for the first time I tried Voltaren on the itchy parts. Just to try something new. And I do think it works!? It's a little to soon to tell, but the feeling I've got after 2-3 hours is OK. The medicated creme i got from the doctor is called ECZORIA. That also works, but i've heard, with side effects...!
I would like to try Volatren but read online it can cause heart attacks or strokes....what is your take on this?
Already 4 year back ,a have and accident on motorcycle with broken tibia fibula and have surgery with rod inside already removed the rod,but I have pain in that leg so my question is I can use this product,???
Is Voltaren safe for ischemic stroke patients? I take blood thinners. My hubby says it's not safe because it can cause a stroke but the neurologists say it's safe in moderation. I have severe arthritis in my hands.
Can you use on Jaw for TMJ pain??
Can I use this on both knees at the same time.
What bout the side effcts like heart attack or stroke or liver problems?
Does it work for foot nerve pain?
I use it when I have flareups. On my hands and my feet. I don’t use it all the time. Just for the seven days, and it calms things down for weeks or months. I have used a generic brand distributed by Perrigo that works just as well.
You referring to the gel?
I heard it takes a little time, as in a couple days, for it to become effective? It’s not immediate?
I’ve been using it for years!! I have nerve damage and get severe headaches and the gel works much better for me!
Will this help for me. I broke my leg and have two rods in it. I also have nerve damage, I can't take the medicine for it, Will this help
@@ritabrandow1318 Please ask your doctor! Don't rely on advice you get from unknown people!!!
Do you use it for headaches too
How do you use it for headaches and neck pain?
The last joint (near the fingernail) on my left hand has a problem. I bought some generic equivalent to Volaren but I am confused about the dosing chart which seems to call for a dose of the whole hand. Is that right? Can I just put a dab on the joint that is bothering me? AND: what do you think of Blue-Emu?
I have the world’s greatest pharmacist. With multiple pain issues and prescriptions from different doctors, she has had to step in and change meds, dosage and correct the use of over the counter medication. Never once had a doctor correct her suggestions, meds are their profession. They need to be more respected. Hint: find one and develop a relationship similar to that of a doctor.
,
So every time you use it… do you wash the spot where you applied or you don’t???🤔🤔
i use voltaren (forte, its more potent gel than regular) and kneebraces to survive regular work days. for me, this gel works nicely.
Are there any side effects?
1) Both of my knees have osteoarthritis. Do I put 4 on each knee, or 2 grams on each?
2) It says to discontinue use after 21 days. Then what? The pain comes back, and I'm not supposed to use anymore?
Can I use Voltaren with mobic?
Can you guys comment on the methyl salicylate gels and creams? I have gotten very positive results with those.
Definitely contraindicated for those with nsaid allergy, but I was given some under doctor's care back when it was prescription because of my nsaid allergy and I have not had an issue with Voltaren.
i find the dosage to be a little high for my knee, says 4 inches but i only need like half of that
This is also used internally just like ibuprofen.
A coach showed me DMSO when I was a teenager, and that stuff was like wizardry. Strange side effects, but as far as joint and ligament pain.... had to be magic. Is there a reason people don't more widely use it as a topical?
This did not work for me, neither does Ibuprofen or tylenol (for a very specific pain). Cortisone shots have been iffy. I haven't found relief in physical therapy either (3 years now) but the doctors keep pushing that on me too!
Voltaran gave me an itchy, pitted rash. Once it I got it my IV at hospital and went nuts with the itching.
Can you compare this product to products like bio freeze?
For beginning hip p. I apply otc hormone 1% and helps for months. Doc said it would not be strong enough. Oh well. Worked for me.
OTC hormones? Please elaborate 🙂
@@maryg.7790 over the counter cortisone 1% for allergies.
I am new to this site .i see items that you push more than others . Most have side effects that you talk about. I have not seen you talk about DMSO . I have used it , works fast ,other than taste ,not had side effects..can you talk about
I hurt all over my body and was told not to use so much because only so much can go into your system so no matter what , I'll be in pain. It works a little.
You sound like you have fibromyalgia. The problem with using a lot is that it starts putting strain on your liver.
@@annwilliams6438 Going to see a doctor soon to see if I do have fibromyalgia because before all the pain in my whole body. The doctors told me I have Osteoarthritis.
Will this work for muscle knots and inflammation? You talked mostly about joints, but briefly said muscle pain. Thanks so much!!
The package says it's for joint pain only. But I have used it on my muscles too.
I used it on my Tendinitis and it helped!
I have really bad back problems (herniated disc and sciatica) and as I am slowly getting better and no longer need Naproxene as often but still need something here in there, Voltaren is what was recommended to me. It helps my muscles soreness as I am trying to strengthen them in my back and for the inflammation. It gives my stomach a break from all the medication I've had to take in the last 8 months as well.
@@melissaforget8831 Thank you for the reply! I hope and pray you start to feel better soon .
I use this for muscle cramps
What do you think of Arnica and Arnica gel? I use it if needed, but a lot of my aches and pains have gone away now eating a plant based diet.
Giving up sugar & flour has really helped my autoimmune. Diet is really important.
I love the voltaren gel. I’ve been using it for over a month, and can actually tell a difference.
I get no result from that medication.
I have been using it for years as a prescription and then OTC. It's fantastic on my knees and feet. Even my shoulder.
@@soldiermom7352 how long did you use it?
@@Jen-oo8ss I tried on my hip at first but ended up with total hip replacement so thought maybe my problem was too severe for it to help. Next I tried for at least a month on my left knee. No relief. I have degenerative joint disease so maybe the pain I feel is different. I now have pretty much accepted that pain is always going to be present in my joints so use hot baths and Aspirin. Enteric coated only.
@@soldiermom7352maybe. Both of my knees need replacement, and it helps me. Waiting until the last possible moment because I am young, and hopefully will have them done at Walter Reed in the next few years.
I developed stomach/digestion issues from it- suddenly, after a few weeks of using it (and after I was told that it wouldn't enter my bloodstream).
Same here. It was worse than any oral medication I used. However that said, antacids have helped and I use the gel only at night so I can sleep.
@@trishayamada807so it does go to your blood stream
Isn’t this safer than using ibuprofen or Tylenol?
What about DMSO?
Has anyone had luck with this for plantar fasciitis?
I hear the topical gel can cause ulcers
My doc prescribed me the D Gel… oooo weee does it work
Unfortunately this did nothing for my knee OA pain but I only tried it for 3 days and the pain and stiffness was unbearable.
What about groin muscle all the way to thigh?
Other countries are asking that it be pulled because of heart risks
It has been over the counter here in Italy forever, however those amounts are way over the top in my opinion.
Can it be used on shoulder's? Especially after a shoulder surgery. I had SLAP/bicep tendonitis surgery in Feb. and hate taking oral medication.
Yes it works on shoulders
I just had rotator cuff surgery i bought it today and as soln as i put it on no later than a hour i had no pain the entire day
WHAT? We had that over the counter for years here in Canada. Also 4 inches is a freaking lot! Your knee would be drenched lol and it would take more than an hour to dry.
That's because we test it on you Canadians and Brits first. 😂
As of 2024 according to the Voltaren website it is not for use on your back, hip or shoulder because it has not been studied for use on these body parts
We will have to do a redo on this video if new things just came out. Thank you for letting us know!
Does this help for back spasms?
Chiropractic adjustments helped me with back spasms in the past. Have you tried that? I know how awful it is. 😟
I'm experiencing sciatica or piriformis type pain that sends excruciating pain down my leg. While I feel it in my lower back, the pain seems to originate in the piriformis between the hip and the sacrum. Would Voltaren penetrate to the area of that muscle for possible relief?
I have the same problem and would also like to know this.
Try and see
If you have severe pain, this isn’t for you. See your PCM.
@@beerman1957 I purchased a 3.56 oz. tube at my local grocer. It was a store brand (Top Care) that had the same listed contents and strength as the Voltaren on the shelf. Before tax, I paid $18.
My general pain pattern is to struggle with the worst of it for the first 1-2 hours of the morning after getting out of bed. It's a real struggle getting my granddaughter to school. I find that the pain lessens and even completely disappears (except for some lite ache in my lower back) after that, and as long as I stay on my feet doing chores and errands, I avoid most pain. But, if I sit for any length of time or take a nap, when I get up I'm back to fighting the bad leg pain. I find I don't usually get a second recovery like I did mid-morning.
I'm having some afternoon achiness today after sitting for several hours -- not severe, but certainly cramping my style. I rubbed some of the gel onto my left piriformis area and I am experiencing relief. I didn't have the sense the application in this one spot was improving the pain further down the leg -- I had hoped, assuming this is nerve pain, that dulling it at the source would take care of the whole problem -- so I applied a bit to my left calf and also at my hip. I can definitely say I feel relief. Still some stiffness in the hip but not the sharp pain I was getting a few minutes ago. Hoping this lasts a while.
My plan is to apply this tomorrow morning when the alarm goes off and before I get out of bed to see if I can skip some of the 1-2 hours of pain I've been starting my day with. I'll update when I get a chance.
I had an MRI weeks ago and my primary physician sent a referral over to a spinal-treatment group. I finally received an appointment date after making several calls -- not until May 26. I'm hoping this Voltaren clone fills the gap for the next month.
@@JonJaeden I have been suffering with the same pain as you. How are you doing since this post? I have bee using ALA alpha lipoic acid for the nerve pain. Was taking Aleve for over a year which concerned me. Last three nights days I have been using MagniLife leg and back which surprisingly provided me with relief.. I have been using CBD salve morning and before bed. If you are not yet, also add stretching to the cream application. I hope you are doing well.
Voltaren has a list of side effects not mentioned here
Doesn’t video voltaren have a black box warning on it???
No warning on diclofenac gel.
This vs DMSO?
Applying Fireball on the skin works too, sounds crazy I know

“Voltaren Gel should not used in people at risk for heart attack or stroke or who have had recent heart surgery. The drug should be used with caution in people in people with certain health issues such as kidney or liver disease.” Right from the website. Maybe your pharmacist should brush up on his side effect info.
That's why it should be used under the direction of a physician if one has risk factors. That information is stated on the packaging as well. Unfortunately many people don't bother to read it.
Tried it for pain in my hands for a couple of weeks but it really didn’t do much if anything. I take 800mg of ibuprofen and feel like I’m in my 20s again…
I'm having snapping or clicking on the elbow whenever i do pushing movements like push ups, bench press and dips but it's not there when i do any kind of pulling movements can you guide me for what could be the issue and how to fix it.
Consult a dr , usually this is the begining of a problem in a joint .

When the guys online are better than the guys you pay. I just feel like I should make a donation every time I watch a video. I'd rather give my co pay to Bob and Brad. And it made since to me that something is prescribed to limit our ability to get our hands on it. Imagine if people could just walkin and get opioids. The current epidemic of that is bad enough. God forbid it was next to Tylenol and Advil on the shelf.
I tried voltaren gel and unfortunately it didn't do anything for me. It was for my rhomboid.
To feel the effect, u need to use it 4 times a day for a week at least

Why does the Wallgreens version of this say not for use on shoulders, can I use on my shoulder anyway?
I used it for my shoulder pain that I had for weeks I notice the relief that day but each day I use it it feels better and better .It didn't harm me at all
We have a few boxes of this well my parents do they don't like it .but it definitely works for me so maybe depending on the person
🥺 So what can someone who takes Eliquis, and is allergic to Tylenol, take for pain?
You need to consult your doctor, that is out of their scope of practice
I take xarelto 20 mg and my doctor asked me to use this instead of Advil that works better for me. Not sure yet if this expensive gel is working or I'm just healing normally as I was told this works after a week or so. Applying it for my tennis elbow. Ice massage seems to help better
Does this have any scent?!? Like those "menthol rubs" old people seem to smear all over that it penetrates the walls?!?
Also can this be used under a wrap/bandage to "make it penetrate faster"?!?
