These guys are legit amazing human beings and quite frankly best content makers of physiotherapy material. So much knowledge is pushed into their videos, and literally if people followed at least 25% of what Bob and Brad suggests - they would extremely likely walk pain free. Like in this podcast, they called this pharmacists guest to essentially highlight that physiotherapy is the best way to live pain free and not to push medication use without a good reason. I really appreciate this type of honest work.

There’s a difference between acute muscle pain and chronic pain; and between specific pain from an injured muscle like a pulled muscle or overall condition like Fibromyalgia. The relaxers are used for different purposes and therapy as well as chiropractic may or may not help for the medical issue. For my Fibro/IC I need the relaxer so I don’t have to use pain relievers very often. I also use massage therapy, chiropractic and therapy to help my body and mind. So yes, I’m a “lifer” with great doctors.

What's fun is when you're on these meds for so long the side effects no longer affect you, but the meds still do what they are supposed to. With my MS, chronic sciatica, and herniated disc (L5/S1), I've been on Baclofen for close to 18 years and Zanaflex for at least 10 years. I'm also on a plethora of other meds that are supposed to make you sleepy, but because I've been on them for so long, I no longer get that particular side effect. What I take on a daily basis would probably knock a "normal" person out for days, if not half kill them. Ahhh, the "beauty" of being chronically ill...

Wish I had this information when I herniated 3 lumbar discs and began having muscle spasms in 1992 and could have actually healed. Been through years of PT, acupuncture, TENS, ice, heat, prescriptions, microsurgery, nothing able to get pain below a 5 in 20 years, (and most days is 8) still have muscle spasms and have just accepted that I will always be in pain and will never be whole or functional again.

I cant even believe that they even try us on those TENS machines. I went crazy at them trying to tell me that a tens machine isnt a glorified muscle contractor. People use them as the lazy way to get mostly abs so the electric makes the muscles contact rather than you do it in the gym. Thats all a tens machine is. Ibtold them they may as well spat in my face giving me that shite for even a try when the thing islts self isnt even actully proved to do anything for pain. And when i say pain i mean real chronic pain. Wste if time and money and horrible for the patient making them wait to try real thingd that work.
Im bow waitng on baclofen. I have damaged discs in my backz dehydrated ones in my neck. Steriod injections work great because steroids work. But medcial companys wouldnt make money of we got better 1st go.

I took 5 mgs once for a buzz, because I'm a user of alcohol and opioids (AKA I like downers), and it was the worst idea I ever made. you feel like shit for the entire next day after and even that's still not nearly as bad as how you feel while on it. it's like a shitty benadryl buzz mixed In with a low dose of Dextromethorphan (over the counter drugs that I abused as a teen), I will stick with my alcohol and opioids...they ruin me but at least I feel good while they ruin me. This cyclobenzaprine stuff seems like it not only has the potential to totally ruin a person but you won't even enjoy being on it. so much better ideas for muscle relaxation.

I was prescribed muscle relaxants for fibromyalgia caused by the trauma of a c-section. I hated them. I was so sleepy. Being half asleep all day doesn't work with 4 kids!
I went to a chiropractor and he helped realign my neck and back. Then an occupational therapist who helped me with myofacial release. I started an exercise program with stretching geared toward fibromyalgia.
21 years later I still have fibro. I still have pain. But I am able to go through life without muscle relaxants, or prescription pain meds (so far).
My advice is always to try all the other modalities and therapies before the pills. No shame in using them, but they just come with their own problems.

As someone with fibromyalgia, I can not say thank you enough. Today, you validated what is going on with me and that I am on the right track. It might sound silly, but there's freedom in being told that it's ok if I have to be on muscle relaxers long term, yet to know that sometimes physical therapy is what helps me and I feel guilty asking for the scripts. I won't anymore. I feel like I understand more of what I need during different types of pain and getting over the hump. Most of my daily pain can be managed with physical activity and a combination of cbd/thc edibles. I have had the best recovery with RSO (Rick Simpson oil). When sciatica flares up, I need the help from muscle relaxers for a few days. The way you described what happens with muscles and lactic acid build up made my pain cycles make sense. I feel like I can better understand when I am able to handle it and not to be afraid to reach out for help. Thanks, guys

Ideally, physical therapy SHOULD be the go to method for relief from muscle spasms and injury but our fast paced society does not allow a person to take the time need to allow the body to repair. Therefore the quick fix pharmaceutical is employed to facilitate a person to keep moving and productions. It’s a conundrum. Unfortunately perpetuation of quick fix drugs (that aren’t a real fix) is profitable for several industries. End result? An entire population of walking wounded.

My legs are jacked like an Olympic runner to the point it probably impedes my sleep. when I take the house pills, because that’s what they’re called to anybody that’s been around them for a long time and I have been around these since I was a child. I have just recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia a very awakening diagnosis for my family, my father probably most likely has it with out diagnosis now I have it and my son‘s probably got it so I’m pretty scared right now and dealing with a flare up.last time I had a flare up I was probably 13 just a few years after beating leukaemia. Now I’m 40. Anyways, forget all of that when I take flexor I sleep like a baby but the next day my legs hurt and I’m very short tempered every time I take it, but it does loosen me up ,sauna work well too. I get tingling up my neck which depending on how I move my head, makes me a little light headed. I do have tight muscles along my upper shoulders. Also a knot (like a ball), in my left shoulder that when I move my head at a upward angle from left , there's a shooting sharp stabbing pain that travels from the knot, up my neck , to my forehead giving me a 20 sec head rush or migraine. This is all due to my job which is repetitive motion and I'm in one spot all day. It's cause I don't move that much so my muscle tighten up. Couple of times I moved too soon and I hear a crunch noise. Kinda like I released the tightness in my neck. I do feel a little bit better afterwards that's how I know that's the problem.

I agree , it seems as though they made the muscles in more pain, I haven’t felt comfortable ever since the injection of Toradol, I’m being waken up out my sleep early morning trying to massage the pain away but it doesn’t help at all. It’s going on two weeks now. I believe I just only need a strong pain medication

Muscle relaxers especially Cyclobenzaprine, are great for lower back spasms and will make them go away but they cause drowsiness. 600mg Ibuprofen is equal to 200mg celecoxib for swelling and pain but celecoxib has less stomach upset. Rx Tramadol or OTC Kratom for severe pain. Kratom especially Meng da is awesome for pain but causes nausea if you take too much which is good as you don't abuse it. Love you all! God bless and remember that, "pain is in the brain!" But still take your meds as prescribed. ❤❤❤❤

I know you said it spasms as a over protection from an injury, but for instance I'm not sure I hurt myself. Maybe I just over did it.. with fibromyalgia sometimes it doesn't take much.

Are there any situations where a chiropractor should be consulted before a physical therapist?

    • @SweetStuffOnMonarchLane
      @SweetStuffOnMonarchLane 3 года назад

I love my chiropractor! A chiropractor can get you back in alignment when/if your back "goes out" and a physical therapist can teach you stretching and muscle strengthening to KEEP you in alignment. You could have weak abdominal muscles, for example, that could be stressing your back muscles. The important thing I tell people is to find a "straight" chiropractor, in other words, one that doesn't twist your back to align it... that is hard on the discs.
