I had knee pain about 25 years ago and doctor told me to take Glucosamine. I was doing all right, I had no pain. I took it about 20 years and I was doing good. My doctor died and I had to get new doctor. New doctor told me to stop. I stopped and my pain came back. I am walking with the help of cane. I changed the doctor. My third doctor said why you stopped if it was working. I just started this 2 months ago, feeling little better. I will try as you said 6 months. If I get better then I will continue. Your video was informative to me. Thank you.

I started taking Glucosamine containing Chondroitin and other ingredients, approx. 30 yrs ago when I became almost incapacitated with severe excruciating knee pain and, over time, Mirabile Dictu, the pain has eased and most of the time is nonexistent. I was also told by my surgeon that I would need surgery and to book the appointment because it would be one year before he could perform the surgery and then he spoken golden words, "if you don't feel pain by that time you can cancel the appointment." "Why would I not feel pain doc I'm dying here?" "Things shift" he said. AND I continued with the Glucosamine and happily cancelled the appointment. I've written to the company of the brand I use praising their product. I thought the company should know that as a human in pain that their product has a least helped one person.

I stopped the Glucosamine & Chondrotin twice for a month & the pain returned in my fingers. I'm glad it works for me. I'm 70 yo & was diagnosed at 48 yo with osteoarthritis. I was always careful about my weight and do at least 40 minutes of exercise Every Day. What is interesting is that my wife, the same age as me, has developed Arthritis. She had Never taken any G + C. Her exercise program was not the best. She is the main cook, and we are both careful about what we eat. Recently, I have also decided to take Tumeric Curcumin as another preventive supplement.

There are cheaper supplements such as turmeric that have proven to be more effective. With animals a product works or it doesn't , they are not conflicted with a placebo effect.

For 8 years I had severe back pain and was close to surgery when I decided to stop taking prescribed anti inflammatory drugs. I started taking glucosamine at 4x the recommended dose (after researching that it would have no ill side effects).
I noticed an almost immediate improvement.
2 weeks later I went back to the specialist and told them what I was doing and to take me off the surgical waiting list.
This was around 6 months ago.
I now only take 2 a day for about a week when I have a flare up of the old injury (I am a site welder and lift/shift 40kg plus on a regular basis).
I no longer take anti depressants as I no longer feel depressed about losing my ability to provide for my family.

So I started taking 1 Glucosamine-Chondroitin-MSM (500-400-400 mg) in the morning and 1 Glucosamine (750 mg) at night. It's been 3 months and my neck hasn't felt this good in years! I feel such relief that I can't believe the difference! My quality of life is noticeably better.

But, I’m glad you made this video because my pain in my knees use to be excruciating and the doctor wanted to give me a cortisone shot but that’s bad with the body which I opted out. I heard about taking these pills but wanted to go the homeopathic way so I began researching and found that nuts and seeds help in a big way. So, I got sesame seed which I use tahini to make my hummus. I use flaxseed in my baking and green veggie smoothies with no sugar. I use almonds and walnuts in my pancakes and waffles homemade with no sugar and it tastes awesome. I also use organic virgin olive oil for stir frying, like making tofu fried rice, lots of green vegetables and basmati rice. In using these items, my pain gradually disappeared, it took longer than 6 months but I was rewarded for a lifetime because now it’s once in awhile.
So, with your exercises and knee and hip joints I can improve even more, thank you for your videos!

I liked the way you compared the efficacy results of the different treatments, including the placebo control. Statistically, it is a very sound comparison. If the delta (efficacy) change between any of the treatments when compared with the placebo is less than 20%, then it may not be worth taking the medications, and the alternative is to use naturally occurring substances that would help lubricate the cartilage, such as virgin oil, etc. Thank you so much, Dr. Furlan. Okay. Going for longest YT comment.☺
Hi. I am 61 years old, and have taking glu for about 3 years. I have been fairly active as in playing tennis and walking. Although I have to had to more or less give up tennis because of shoulder problem. I have osteoarthritis, and have noticed it in back and hip area mostly. Sometimes in hands if writing too long. So when playing tennis, I was often playing through pain.
The way the condition has affected me is mild to moderate pain in bed. Same when out walking. . The average worse pain i had was when walking is having to sit down or lie down on grass if available if only for a short while. The same if standing too long.
I took glu, after reading a book called "how to get rid of arthritis" or something like that. I had tried other medications before. I can't recall which ones though. I took it without chondroitin. The sulphate kind. I can't remember the exact dose. But I think the book recommends between 800 to 1500. So it was somewhere within that range. I did consult my doctor first. He said it was fine to take it. But was dismissive of it's effectiveness.
You say you won't see immediate results. Well I guess I'm the exception. I had a result within 24 hours if not sooner. I couldn't believe how better I felt. When you have pain of a limited degree. Average arthritis, if you want to call it that, you get used to it. But when that pain is gone. you realise how much that pain had been affecting you. That first result of glu taking was a major miracle for me. The next time I played tennis. I believe I had no pain at all.
But That level of effectiveness only lasted for the one day.
exclusive (I have no idea how red txt turned that colour) benefits. When I'm out walking I don't need to sit/lie down because of pain. I think it has helped with stiffness more than anything else. But it doesn;t seem to have helped with hip pain. Who knows, maybe it has. But because back pain was my major issue, I notice it there more. I still get pain from standing too long though.
At first I was taking it every day. But now take it twice a week. This is because it has been suggested there are risks involved.

I sympathize with you. I'm 77 yrs old and no pain. Between the ages of 40 and 60 I suffered OA in most joints: back, hips, knees, ankles, fingers, shoulders, etc. I tried all known medicines but they all were "first aid" at best. I practiced specialized exercises for muscle stretching, strengthening, aligning, and retraining. At the same time I took 60,000 iu of Vitamin D per week. Now I'm completely pain free. I'm very active with all kinds of exercises: walking, dancing, weight lifting, rock climbing, etc. OA is only history in my life.........

Congratulations for the explanation, objective and not misleading, truly a serious professional. You have to experiment on yourself, very true, and finally evaluate if the benefits really exist; I personally believe that continuous physical activity is better, as far as possible, also because once the degenerative process has started it is difficult to stop it. A careful and non-inflammatory diet can help overcome moments of crisis, especially for those who are very sensitive to changes climatic conditions (excessive humidity, cold, storms, etc.). Congratulations indeed doctor.

Before my cure I was very stiff, could only walk stairs with great difficulty, bending and crouching out of question, walking slowly only. Now all these symptoms have vanished like ice on a sunny day. My rusty body engine has been re-oiled properly. In Austria thousands of patients are treated every year with great success.
