+Fernando JC Pereira That is a very good question Fernando. I actually have the pj710 and I used it for a long time . I think the 710 and 810 have similar sensors. The low light is actually a bit better on the pj710. I think it might have a bigger sensor. But the AX actually has really nice image quality. Noticeably better than the 710 all around. The first part of this video where im talking was shot on the 710. The AX53 is coming in March and its supposed to have larger pixels so we should seen even better image quality day and night. I'll be buying and review the AX53 so be sure to subscribe so you'll see my review as soon as it comes out.

+IlBoccaTV Yes it have mic in jack. I wouldn't buy it if it didn't. It also has head phones out jack as well.
I use an external flash with mine. It takes some amazing pics.

Thanks for the review. How would this compare to a Canon XF100? I was originally going to get this camera but went with the canon.. Being how I am not a professional I am starting to regret it as I get all kinds of noise without using the sun in my studio. Thinking this might be a better fit for my music tutorials. What are your thoughts?

Very nice. In the 1080P recording mode, do you think the AX33 would have sharper videos than the CS455? I think the sensor is a little bigger on the AX33, does sensor size make a difference. thanks.
Well done review ! Did you also use the additional digital zoom in your filming ? So does this have together with the digital zoom all in all 20x Zoom or how much ? It really has a great video quality ! Do you think it is the best camera in this price range, if you want to go for a 4K Camcorder ?

overunitydotcom Thanks Stefan, I didn't use the digital zoom in my sample video. In fact I don't think I have tried it at all yet. I think I'm going to make a quick followup video with some more samples so maybe I'll add the digital zoom there. And yes its a total of 20X.

Hi SomeCoolTech Excellent video, really helpful. Wonderful efforts. Thanks. I was just facing one problem....if you could help me I would really appreciate ! Thanks in advance... I am trying to use the Sony RMT-VPK1 remote control with my Sony FDR ax33 (I checked the compatibility and as per Sony they are supposed to compliment each other). I have connected the receiver to the multi plugin however the remote does not seem to function. The batteries in the remote are new and everything seems to be in place I have even changed and tried setting the same channels on both the receiver and the transmitter. Is there a setting I need to change in the camera or am I missing something else ? I have tried looking on the net but am unable to find anything about the Sony remote (except for some videos which have slides and they are just pictures of the remote with no voice, no instructions whatsoever) sane about the remote control. There is nothing mentioned in the user manual about troubleshooting. I tried contacting the technical Sony support team but they are unable to help. I know this video is about the Sony FDR ax-33 however, any info or help will highly appreciated.

i love the video watched both the review end to end and i think this is my pick for a camera. i will be fishing in the used market though.
one thing i was concerned about that no one touched on are the still shot quality. not needing 70d stills but ones i can proudly post on sites that will look better than ones on my iphone 6. do you think the camera picture is comparable say to a panasonic g7 or something of its caliber?
I have this camera. It's really nice but grainy in low light. I also have a hdr-ax1000 for shooting projects since it has a more cinematic vibe and bigger sensor for low light.

It does take memory sticks which are great. I wonder if you have tried ax1000, if its about the same but with bigger sensor

I had a quick question:
So i am looking between this camera and the sony Hdr CX 900, which is a higher end 1080p camera. Now this camera is cheaper, but i also dont have the need for 4K, since i can only edit 1080p due to my screen.
One of the big selling points for me is the night vision mode, which both cameras have. Would it be worth getting this camera over the other one, even though i cant really use the 4k functionality at the moment? I hope my question is a bit more thought out than i think it is, haha
I would love this for my rail channel! I think the trains would be crisp in 4K! Definitely would save my money up for! Looks very sharp!

Can you do a video on going from 4k to 1080p? I'm buying the TriCaster mini by NewTek. I like these camera but the Tricaster mini will only capture/broadcast in 1080p. Secondly, I need to know what kind of chip that I can record 4k continous for 3 to 4 hours.

I have a question - do they inbuilt mics as well as external mic sockets and could you theoretically record audio simultaneously from both sources on two audio channels?
It does have built in mics but you can't record audio from both built in mic and external at once.

You didn't used some stabilisator ? Only handed used ? Cause you're stabilisation is very well.
An camera expert told me that the build quality off the Sony AX33 and AX55 is the same but But the differen,t is the AX55 can zoom up to 20x and the other 10X

This bugs me so hard... I come from a 40x and found even that just barely sufficent for filming down from viewpoints.
On the flipside even it's minimal zoom showed an image too narrow to catch the entirity of things like monuments from closer up, the range it seems most impressive when you are there in person.
how is the picture quality? was looking at a6000 but ran into this. which 1 to get.....

+PHOTOTRISTAN UHD at 60fps is not coming to soon unfortunately. I was just at CES and I didn't see or hear about anything under $3000 with 4K 60fps. And yes it does have a tripod mount hole.
Excellent video, most impressive camera. Looks like transferring videos to PC is simple, with USB, correct? Visual and audio clarity also seem excellent. I'm looking for a high quality camcorder to first record HD video presentations by my elderly, terminally ill father, that can be easily transferred to family and friends. Also want the cam for travel and home based action activities on a farm. This was the first video I've seen on the Sony FDR AX 33 4 K camcorder. Would you recommend this for my stated purposes? Hi I realize you made this video years ago but I was hoping you could help me because I can’t find an answer anywhere. This camcorder has subpar low light performance. Made my recording of the Brooklyn Bridge at Dawn look straight out of the 2000s

+lacamaracofrade-apiedetrono The stablization will not wear out. I've used my for over a year and have had no problems. If you want better low light try the a6300 amzn.to/1S1Rs4e I have been testing it and the new AX53 and its got the best low light if you use a good lens. The AX53 is better that the AX33 in low light too.

Great review thnx! How did you make the short traveling shots that are in the beginning of the sequence with footage you shot. They go sideways from left to right or vice versa and look very smooth. Did you use some sort of dolly or skateboard??

I've had this camera for less than a year, and it hasn't been heavily used.
What I want to know, from someone who has used it for 5-years or so, does the mechanical image stabilization degrade over time?
I don't think it degrades over time. I don't have this camera anymore but I have the AX53 and its still the same as when I bought it years ago.
The colors look amazing. Sony always does a great job with that. XAVC looks nice.

Hi I have exactly this camera hopping to shoot with this smooth quality of video. I dont know what happenped. But always when Im shooting thw video has some kind of texture. And I m recording with 4k. :/
How long you record for? in need at least 30 minutes straight not intervals.

I just bough this camcorder and have to try it out. I clicked on the link to the battery you suggested and it is no longer available.
