- This is my review of the Microsoft Surface Duo 2. At first I wasn't sure I was going to keep the Duo 2 but after using it for a few weeks I've fallen in love and Im keeping it. This phone amazing for multitasking and the wide aspect ratio dual screens are awesome.

Duo 2 rocks. I prefer multitasking on dual displays. Gaming in Nintendo DS mode is everything. The fold just wasn’t for me. Great vid ✌️.
Thanks Izzy. Pinned your comment!
Finally someone speaking truth!!!
What did you find that this did better for you than the fold?
@@gormauslander The ease of just having multitasking ready on the fly without having to resize windows etc... I work a lot with Office, calendar and emails and the way they are integrated is efficient.
@@aka_izzy does Samsung not do this? That seems like a big fail on their part considering the target market
Ever since using the Surface Duo I don't think I could go back to single screen and (ugh) wide-screen aspect ratio on phones. I was even able to sketch quick concept arts on the duo that eventually got submitted to a last minute pitch meeting and sealed the job. It's a productivity beast
My impression so far is that the Duo 2 will be an excellent business multitasking phone. I've been using it a lot and I just love it too.
The Duo caters to people like you. Consumers don't do productivity. They consume media.
@@Somecooltech1 yeah..but it's not just for business that makes this thing great....
Great review. You really brought out all of the Surface Duo 2. I use for both business as a productivity device and a personal device for fun. The two screens matches my desk setup ... so I can my desk setup with me in my pocket!! Thanks for the great review!
Im stoked that another Duo owner found this video already. Glad you like it. I like this phone a lot. I have the iPhone 13 pro too but this thing has a few big advantages.
Thank you for making this video. A very honest review with lots of practical use cases demonstrated.
Loving my original Surface Duo since day 1
Nice. Is it still getting software updates? I originally ordered it but canceled after hearing about the bugs. It was the phone that got away.
@@Somecooltech1 Sure does will for at least two more years/ Likely to get A12L soonish
Great review! I'm holding out and waiting for MS to deliver on their promise of android 11 on the Duo first gen before I decide to upgrade. I love the form factor and the dual screens over the zfold 2!
@ 1:35 thank you for doing that zoom. The video showing the attempted zoom that would not work was driving me crazy. the zoom at 1:35 saved the day.
Fascinated by this Device. I for one would welcome continuing in-depth reviews as your usage endures. I'd especially like to hear your arguments for swapping out from (say) a Samsung S10>S22 Ultra come February delivery release, from the viewpoint of a heavy Windows user too.
Great review 👏
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it!
FINALLY, people who actually can use this beast! appreciate the honest opinion, I'll consider getting it.
Very good content. I've been on the fence with "should I upgrade from the Duo 1 to the Duo 2", and now I think I'm dead set on getting the Duo 2, however, do you actually think it'll drop in price anytime soon?
Excellent review. Thank you.
Excellent review! Thank you. 😎👍
Regular updates would be appreciated - I'll be watching. Do you use the gboard keyboard or installed Microsoft? I've heard using gboard adds more functionality when using the pen.
Dec and Jan updates fixed the bugs that were there. It's even more solid now
Thanks I will get one for myself.
How would a kindle book look on the duo?
Nice overview 👍
Probably the best multitasking phone on the market.
Just subscribed ...YAY!!! 👌🙌👍
Thank you!!
I really wanted to like this phone, but that camera bump is a deal breaker.
I waited on the original Duo to see what the Duo 2 would offer. Needless to say, I was not too impressed. I suppose it was worth waiting though, because the original Duo is now like $500, so I guess I'll spring for that one instead.
Good review 🧏🏾♂️
i don´t understand the hate on this device it´s awesome
I am 100% with you. I love it. It saves so much time with multi tasking 2 apps at once.
It's Microsoft.
The software is still a buggy mess
...part of it was the original audience wasn't for the general masses who are ease of use and social media/arts heavy. Your average cell user in the US just wants to take pictures/message people/and go on social media and wants it in the most simplest form factor. Duo devices are forward thinking and take some time getting used to and cumbersome compared to the basic slab type of phones. I've been using the Duo as my main since oct of 2020 and I like it, just waiting until the updates run out so I can get the Duo 2 at a cut rate price. I'm on a budget so I'll always be running a little behind but hey works for me.
Great video. Is it dual SIM?
Thanks, no this one hust has got one SIM card slot. Sometimes the version in Asian countries have dual SIM slots though. We should keep an eye out for that version.
@@Somecooltech1 my UK model has dual sims.
Hi! What screen protector are you using on your Duo 2? Does it impact its ability to close properly? Thank you so much!
116 missed calls?
When you use one screen when folded, does it turn off on standby or does the
Display turn on 24 hr
I think it always stays off unless you move he folding mechanism at all. I'll check tonight.
Okay, I checked it over night. If you don't unfold it and just wake it up it will stay on how you left it with the same side active. So you cold definitely use it as an alarm clock.
Nice 🙂
Example of android auto and car mount video would be great.
duo1 is awesome now.. and the price is Amazing.
where is the microsoft triple1? it will look just like a regular phone when folded.
it begins with a duo1 folded with both screens outwards..the 3rd screen is added with screen facing middle screen in closed position with camera bump facing outward. the triple1 unfolds to 3 front facing screens with a camera bump on the outside of the right most panel. it folds up with the left screen on the front like any other candy bar / brick phone and the camera bump on the back like any other phone. where is it and when is it?
the ms logo has room to be place on the panel with the camera bump because the front will actually be a screen/display when device is folded
i want it
Good thing I waited. just bought the Duo 2 for $999
liked and subscribed ty
How's the full screen mode? What's it like answering calls and responding to notifications? Do you have to open it and then tap the screen that you want or is it automatic?
Cool clock and wallpaper... Where can I get them?
Thanks so much, I made the wallpaper myself with two apps. Fluid and Mosaic Art Lab. I made the clock in KWGT. If you PM me on Twitter I'll send you the wallpaper. twitter.com/somecooltech
@@Somecooltech1Thanks. I don't have twitter yet but I can send dm on IG, if thats ok
really good video thanks for sharing..
anyone know if the charging port cracking is gone on the duo2? i have the duo1 and it cracked where the charging cable goes in so i had to get a charging port cable to hopefully prevent any further damage
Great video. One feature I loved about my old Windows Phone was Continuum... does this have a desktop experience? Can I simply plug into a dock and have KB/mouse/monitor and maybe use the device as a second screen for it. I love quirky devices like this. The AMOLED screens look nice.
Im working on a video about what happens when you plug the Duo 2 into a monitor. By the way Im a huge fan of your phone becomeing your desktop PC too. Ive done a video on Samsungs DEX and its awesome as well.
What type of screen protector do you use?
I am using a flexible plastic screen protector. I think that is best because it has to be thin so the phone closes normally. They intended it to go around the curved edge of the screen but mine was not soft enough stay on the glass over the curve so it was flipped up. Luckily mine had several sets so the second one I cut about 3mm off the edge and the problem was solved. I'm going to do a video about the screen protector and accessors. I'll show my screen protector there. I also included a link to mine in the video notes. amzn.to/3BPJyZe
Can this do two split screens? With these wider aspect ratios, and small font, i feel like this would be a multitasking beast
Duhhhh
@@OneSelfActualized I meant, quadrants sort of like windows, so 2 programs on each screen
Not that I know of yet! Think it’s just the two apps at a time. Hopefully Android 12L will implement that!
I think android limits dual screen phones to only splitting what it considers the main screen. So you can do 3 apps at once. At least that's how it works on my LG and what I've seen on other devices.
@@ruxcooking Thanks for the update, i am so tempted if i can get 4 things running at once
Where can I download the Amazon app store?
I think you should be able to do a google search on an android phone for "amazon apple store download" and download it. You may have to go to settings>apps & notifications> advanced>special app access>install unknown apps>and choose your browser to install the app from a browser like Chrome.
best thing, u dont open your phone most of time . only when necessary.
What screen protector are you using? Does it account for the curved screen on the Duo 2?
Tech Connect
I used a plastic screen protector. This one amzn.to/3BPJyZe . If you look closely in the video its lifting off over the curved edge. Luckily there were two sets with this one. The second one I used a ruler and sliced off about 2-3mm of the inside edge. Now it works great with no lifting! Im going to make a video about it.
Tbh I'm happy they all aren't adding bricks. I don't need 500 of them.
Mm.. Watching from my lgv60
If it you look at like it's 2 phones in one, it's $750 a piece
Well that's a neat way of putting it
That's a stretch. Okay 2 phones but only one of them comes with the snapdragon 888 lol
@@droo3010 good point lol, ok so 1 1/2 phones
No SD slot and starts at $1,500. Holy f###!!!
No SD card slot is a deal BREAKER FOR ME! I will stick with my LG V60 which is still relevant and is still receiving updates as LG promised. Plus my LG can take up to a 2TB sd card. Yeah I am keeping this phone forever lol
😢no wirless charging the love story is over 😢
Copy Cat of LG dual screen.
the duo 2 is a great tablet not great phone and it's nowhere near what the fold phone is and thr Amazon app launches the same on the fold with no problem to use the phone regardless you have to open it up and then it looks bad when you need to make a call and you have to hold the phone with both screens on each side. I'm happy you like the phone the duo is for like 100 people out of 2 million 🤣😂
Do you own a Duo 2 or the OG Duo? So why are you talking about something you know nothing about? As for looking bad during a call, are you still in HS and care about what other people think?
@@RK-um9tu umm hell no and I would never wanna own a duo 2 or a duo 5 it's not great as a phone but a tablet yes and if you look at how you would have to use it to make a call its very bad to have to open it all the way and have both screen open . you eyes can tell you if you will like a product or not just like my nose if something smells like I won't like then I won't eat it just that simple but everyone is different
@@raifordkenneth15 you don't make a call with both sides open 🤣 you obviously have never even used a duo. You fold it around and have it single screen 🤦♂️
Correct. The duo 2 is for the people who use their phones to get things done, a small percentage of people indeed
Weirdest looking phone lol. Great tablet yes. But using it as a phone looks stupid. Fold 3 kills it at that part and just looks so much more premium and sleek
good video, u speak 'and' far too many times in my opinion
Thanks for the heads up.
Nice concept. Wrong operating system. I can't see this Microsoft phone lasting long-term. I will wait for an Apple foldable phone.
I hope it does well but I'd love to see apple do a folding phone too.
Do you own a Duo 2 or the OG Duo? Of course, not. So why are you talking about something you know nothing about? Apple can't even make touchscreen laptops or desktops with pen support. So what makes you think they can make a folding phone...lol
iOS is trash. Apple's SoCs but iOS is its bottleneck. Can even set a ringtone of my own songs unless I use GarageBand. So many steps just to install emulators and ROMs. No torrent apps. No call blacklist apps. No file manager.
Apple is so overhyped.....I just can't really understand it personally...but to each their own I guess.....
@@RK-um9tu Yeah MKBHD SAID this phone is trash 🗑 for a second year in a row 🙄

Rivers, what is the battery life like?
@@JEC11718 I'd say its average but considering it has two screens its pretty good. I have the Galaxy S20 too and I'd say the Duo 2s battery time is about 80-85% that of the S20 but with two screens.
