  • The Surface Duo 2 has been built with a focus on using a pen, so how does it go doing that? Can it work as a digital pocketbook?

    Currently using the Surface Duo ONE as my daily driver and I will never go back until they create another phone with the same form factor. Best phone i've ever used hands down.

    Pocket Book: Really enjoyed the discussion. Thank you. I think you're on to something with the Pocket Book pursuit. If a Police Force somewhere could adopt the Duo (keep in a leg pocket), the Sales could increase very substantially and solidify the product as increasingly credible in the consumer's vision. I am about to replace an ageing S10 and am torn between the S22 Ultra and the Duo. But I have agonised over MS just 'toying' with the Duo until it gets bored and then eventually dropping it like the Lumia. Please do more videos like this, teaching us increasingly more about fusion with OneNote, OneDrive and expanded synching.

    Great video!! Looking at Surface Duo 2 to replace my Note 10+.
    Two features I would love to see in OneNote for Android.
    1) Ability to flag or create a task to show in ToDo
    2) Add meeting details

    This was excellent and informative. I do wish the pen had more functionality baked in like the Note S-Pen does. I've used the pen so many times to smart select and extract text. It's just an awesome feature I wish Microsoft would add to the Duo and the Surface Pen.

    Excellent video. Informative, real-world scenarios addressed and utilization of applications to improve business performance were easily understood. Much appreciated. I'll revisit this particular post when I get my surface duo bundle. *Unfortunately for the type of work this device will be used for I'll have to learn to enjoy the surface v1 first as it does not have the camera bump.

    Using it on my note20 ultra and my surface pro X.. I just love that it doesn't matter we're I am and what device I use. One note just work perfectly. Sticky note I think socks. I can see other people can have a use for it, but not me

    Thx for this eye opening session. Do you happen to have more info on making and using templates in OneNote for the Duo ? And a question about the slim pen 2: if I want to use it, I need to manually connect it everytime with my Duo, which even takes some shots before it connects. On my Surface pro I never need to do this. Do you have any tips on this ?

      I've never had that problem. The pen worked, when I first got it, even though I hadn't paired it with the SD2. I'm not sure why this is the case, but the only reason I paired it was to see how much battery I had left on the pen. I don't have to have Bluetooth on, either.

    I am interested to know if the SD2 is a better option that an iPad Mini6, and why. I know size closed is smaller, but honestly my iPhone Mini is OK for a quick dictated note or idea. OneNote itegration and syncing is magical.

    • @ericsands1997
      @ericsands1997 2 года назад +1

      Just depends on your use. If you are just needing it for note taking the mini will work fine. Or for any one task at a time. If you are a multitasker there is no better device than a surface duo.

    There was a recent software update for the Duo 2 - is that correct? Did that update really improve the software experience or is the Duo 2 still buggy? I love your videos and am considering this device, but what I've read about the software worries me.

      @@jaytalkingtech8429 Lots of glitches with switching input between displays. Apps won't launch from the shortcut bar at times. Bluetooth call handling is buggy. You don't have to look too hard. None of them are show stoppers, but the software experience still needs s lot of polish.

      @@oztabletpc Thanks for the response. I’ve only had Duo 2 for two weeks (today 😊) and I find it a phenomenal device.
      I held off on Duo one, due to the expense and bugginess and delayed Duo 2 due to initial bug reports. I have the latest updates and my experience for anyone considering this device, who understands what it is categorically as a “pocket PC”, and can deal with the cost is, go for it. As you say, there are no show stopper bugs, and for me the experience is rather polished and smooth.
      I used to write for Windows Central (site name/author/Jason-Ward) and I wrote a lot about this device, and the concept, before it materialized. As a pocket PC for work. I’m a business owner working with at risk youth and record observation via one note in the field), a pastor who uses app pairs (bible and One Note) when studying or preparing for teaching and preaching, art for brief sketches, media consumption watching RUclips, etc, Zoom.

      It’s truly amazing.

    Hum, I wonder how using OneNote on Galaxy Fold 3 is compared to Surface Duo 2. Main reason for my thought is the Fold 3 is much less expensive than the Surface Duo 2. My EDC is a Note 20.

    • @oztabletpc
      @oztabletpc  Год назад +1

      OneNote is better on the fold. It runs in the tablet style, whereas on the Duo it only runs like it does on your Note.

    It seems to me that there is no clear objective to standardize screen sizes. IMHO Microsoft should consider setting standards strongly based on ISO paper sizes. This is not to say that the screens should match exactly the ISO paper sizes but to size them so that the Surface Pro can display the full area of written text of an A4 which would include the American letter size because the latter has bigger borders than the Europeans A4 and then introduce another smaller tablet size based on the A5. When editing documents or drawings where a lot of tools are exposed around the page, then the tablet needs to be turned to landscape mode and work on the top half of the page separately form the bottom half. And both should run some form of Windows OS to keep consistency. I'm presently in a dilemma where I might have to move to Apple as their tablets have screens that are close to what I'm referring to although they don't run MacOS but they communicate easily between tablet and laptop. I would prefer to stay in the Microsoft world but ....
