Totally agree. I did the same thing; turning off the gesture navigation made a WORLD of difference to me. I tried the gesture navigation (twice) but found out quickly after switching to the three button navigation, that all of my issues I had with the device were related to how I was interacting with the UI. I totally love this deice, two screens is the way to go (and I get plenty of comments and questions in public also) .

Thank You BOTH for this video.
This no glitzy real world video is so amazing that your description of how wonderful the Duo2 is that Microsoft may keep the Prices too high. It is GREAT that Without the distraction of the comparisons to the fruit brand, your (solely) focus on how awesome this Device can be. Simply I was torn between Samsung Galaxy Ultra 22 with pen and Duo2. The 2 or 3 major firmware update from the previous software version made this device into a beast, and my next phone, ah PC, ah tablet, ah multimedia display device.

After I installed the updates that came out after the Duo 2, the gestors have worked very well now. I believe that different ways of using gestors may not be preferred by some, but all in all, I have not had issues with the gestors for my use. You might say that it was worth using them to adapt to motions they require. Also, by them providing an option for it to choose the right screen for using in phone mode, it has alleviated it accidently going to the other screen when folded in to phone mode. Between the update and the right screen by default options, I find it quite usable for me. Maybe I am just biased by my really liking the phone. :)

What great timing for your video. I've been using the Duo 2 since December and OH, I SO want to LOVE this phone more. Over the past few weeks, I've had increasing "missed touch" issues where it just doesn't want to register my touch when trying to get to my apps and sometimes won't swipe left to right. I also been having issues where, when I have it folded using the right screen, the left screen wants to take over or it just goes to blank screens on both and I have to close and reopen. And while I know the camera isn't meant to be top of the line, it is so inconsistent and forget taking a shot of the night sky. I've also had some Bluetooth issues where it stutters a lot more than before and the range, when using Surface Earbuds, is very small.
Also I can confirm the phone not charging. I had it plugged in yesterday during my "Sunday Nap" and woke up about 90 minutes later and it didn't charge...I rebooted and it began charging again. I am using the official Duo 2 charger.
I have a similar setup as you physically...D-Brand skins and the Charging Cover. I wish the charging cover didn't scuff so much when the pen moves around when in pocket.
I have an S22 Ultra coming tomorrow and I might move to that as my "daily driver." I love the Duo 2 but I need a lot more consistency.

I think this video from February 2022 is overly negative. I have seen, in the past, some of the issues you mention, rarely, on occasion. When they occur, they occur for a moment and are fixed by closing and opening the book. Never have I expected perfection, nor have I ever found perfection in any computer (or phone) I have owned. Do I want it to be perfect, yes. Do I think the existing Duo 2 has problems worth abandoning it, no, don't be ridiculous. It is an amazing useful device for me. The battery life is better than any phone I have had, the screens are beautiful, the build quality is elegant. It is a productivity work horse for me. So very useful.
That all said, I appreciate the comments in the video, just not the great weight you gave the comments. It is always good to know other peoples experiences and opinions. I trust you will return the favor and allow for my opinions.
By the way, there have been updates to the Duo OS since the date of this video in February and also Microsoft recently announced a reorganization that focuses a department on Android. I would think this is a step toward improving the future of Duo.
    Best Wishes,

As you can see from our weekly videos, we are interested in far more than the problems. This is just one element of the Duo 2 that must be considered. Watch some more of our videos and take in some context. We are actually involved in the launch of this product in Australia for Microsoft. I'm a huge advocate for the product, however I would never recommend it to anyone without giving them awareness of the issues.

Great Videos. People who bought the Duo 2 and don't like it shouldn't have got it in the first place. They are expecting a dual screen galaxy 22 experience. This ain't It Chief. If you need real Mobile Multitasking this is the best option. If you want a Keyboard and better Windows Performance, buy a Laptop. If you want to work truly mobile and minimalist, this is the best device. I work in Sales, and the ability to group Apps (Email/Catalog, Phone/Notes, Teams/Notes, etc...) has made the Dtuo 2 my Daily Driver and favorite phone. Not to mention how awesome email and Blueprints look on these screens. Love It. Need a better case than that Otterbox embarrassment, something rugged.

@@DaleRossNET No, but having pursued every iteration of Productivity Device prior to Duo looking for This, I know what I need in a Case. Perhaps My Words were harsh, calling the Otterbox Design an Embarrassment, so I will simply say I was speaking from what I need in a Case and the Design of the Otterbox would not satisfy Those. I feel Otterbox failed as Mainstream Reviewers did on The Duo 2. It's like Shopping for Accessories for a Rolls Royce.

      @@rocktauber I own a case. I am working on a deesign to 3D print a case.
You mentioned protect the back more. The back is protected from a drop; and yet he device can still fold fully open. I'm interested in hearing how more pritection can be added, without loss of function. So please share your thoughts on what makes it more protective.
While I'm not a fan of the screen protectors, they do their jobs. My design will be without, mainly because I could not match what they've done. The screen protectors help hold things in place, and provide a level of protection.
Their riveter part is pretty sweet, as it took is part of the drop protection and helps hold the device together. If you have ideas how to achieve something similar, I'd like to hear about it. I've been struggling with that part of the design.

My experience with the Duo 2 was sketchy. It wasn't to the point of not being able to use it, but annoying, at times. The January helped a lot, but the February update seems to have ironed out those touch gestures bugs. So far, no issues with touch sensitivity, accuracy or the screen freezing. Although, I believe the main issue was with the MS Launcher. When I tried a different Launcher, it worked just fine.

  • @Padders82
    @Padders82 2 года назад

Touch gesture work fine for me.. I find that typing a lot starts getting laggy and sometimes it stops detecting touches if my left hand is slightly touching the left curve of the screen. Nfc also isn't great on this phone.. I use the golf tags on old phone perfectly with nfc and now it refuses to register my club.. So frustrating! Otherwise I love the phone.

I wish that were true, but it's just not. There are a lot of bugs and clunkiness in both launcher and Android that need to be addressed. 12L should bring good progress. In the meantime, we'll keep using it and pushing the boundaries of what a phone can do despite the hiccups.

That's great that you can overlook the problems, but Microsoft need to continue to work on this. They won't give up because it's not perfect. They are doing to do something that has not been done before and personally I'm happy that they don't wait until everything is perfect. The perfectionist approach holds back and stifles innovation.

“I want one of those” when random people see it, that is until they actually try it! But isn’t that the same with anything new and shiny? It’s success is not whether it looks cool, it is whether it works and gives added value?Nobody not affiliated to MS will deny that the Duo was a dumpster and although the Duo2 is much improved, there remains the questions? These include, is there a future with dual display devices like this? Is Android the best OS for the Duo? How is such a device to be marketed as so far MS has been more interested in PR than marketing and promoting the Duo?
To me, MS has done something because they can, not something that many people want. It is very niche as I would never do anything productive on such a small device with no detachable keyboard. This is clearly designed for use out and about and mainly office stuff, so it fails for me at the first hurdle, that keyboard omission! For $1500, I can get a great W11 laptop that now supports Android (US) that can be a 2-in-1 if so desired, together with something like a Pixel 6 and not have to pay that much extra if at all!
We have heard that there will not be a Duo 3 this year and we may see MS quietly withdraw the Duo from its portfolio in response to the apathy and restrictive potential.
