Have a ongoing video project and use three of these running simultaneously. They work great. Note, I shot with them plugged in and it works but I suggest you keep a battery hooked up anyway as if you don't and it gets unplugged it corrupts the file. With a battery it just keeps on working if it gets unplugged. I learned this the hard way.

Hi i have the ax33 and love it and use it for my channel. its cheaper too with similar quality and features. One thing i would like to point out is you forgot to mention the best feature of the camera which is there in both ax33 and ax53 is Balanced optical steady shot which makes these cameras better than the rest. Great video otherwise.
I also use the AX33 on my channel and love it. The AX-53 also gives you tru 16;9 recording within the lens and sensor. That's probably the biggest different between the AX33 and AX53

AX53 is a great camera. The auto zoom is a little slow. A couple of seconds to adjust.

I own an AX100 and two AX53 for the last couple of years so I have a lot of comparison experience. The AX100 is the more enjoyable camera to use for its manual controls but it needs better light than the AX53. In dim light the AX53 has less noise despite the smaller sensor. Given enough light, however, the AX100 has greater detail and looks better. The AX53 works better on an electronic gimbal due to weight and size but the AX100 is perfect for the Steadicam. Handheld, the AX53 is superior because of BOSS but the on board IBIS stabilization of the AX100 is surprisingly good. On a tripod the AX100 is clearly the superior camera due to detail in the image so I use it as Bcam to my bigger Panny DVX200, and use the AX53’s for mobile footage. Each camera has advantages in different areas so they complement each other perfectly.

Will the sound going into the camera either by the internal mic or a rhode, go out the hdmi plug to outside sources?
I have this camcorder and it's good for videos. I don't like how the camcorder turn on every time i open the screen, Sony need to make a firmware update to change that. The mic sound good for a camcorder
Compare to the AX33... Are there huge differences ? I'm undecided which one to get. I'm not a professional just a regular guy want to film family events and including backpacking...

The ax53 is better in low light , but the ax700 has autofocus tracking

If you still havren't tried it, you can use the Play Memories app. It's not perfect, but it's a great option to use without buying more gear. I have it on an iPad and iPhone. It's great so far.
If the camera comes with a Bluetooth you can use the mobile app to control the camera, or Wi-Fi to view your video in your network if you have one. Setting a home network is really very easy.

How does this cam perform in dark rooms? I'm doing aviation reports and looking for a camera that performs well during night flights with low light. Currently using my Dji osmo action and my galaxy S21 phone. Thinking Ali getting a Sony zv-e10 camera. But maybe this camcorder or the ax43 would be better.....?

What the hell ?!! A RUclips Caméra ? Are you serious, man ? The FDR AX53 is more than a simple camera toy to do videos for RUclips ! This is a semi-pro one ! With this baby on your arms, you can do absolutely everything include RUclips videos. But for that, you can also buy the fdr ax 33, which is cheaper than the 53.
Semi pro? LOL. You have to pay another 500$/euros for a semi-pro AX100. That is a real semipro variant.
Agree-this fool is using a semi pro camera for youtube? This is a capable camera that can record in 4k and is great for outdoors, motion, movies and even films as an amateur.Not youtube games-Its $1000, get a 100 dollar camera for youtube games

I have this camera and my one beef is that in any kind of outdoor daylight setting you cannot see the image when wanting to take photos. You have to guess what is in the frame in the handheld position. But I mainly use the camera for videos as a kind of citizen journalist; I have the camera with me at all times and when I see a situation unfolding this camera allows me to record excellent videos in just a few moments.
This camera not designed Photography. Motion pictures camera. You can't see in the dark and buy a light accessory

I recently updated my family home video camera to the Sony XA53. Just got it yesterday and it seems good. Before this, I was archiving years of mini-DV tapes and labeling them properly for storage. My question to you is- what system of archiving and managing non-tape video files is best? I'm tempted to put all these new files into folders on an external hard drive, separated into yearly folders and maybe events. But am I missing some great application or product that will help me organize, backup and play these? What do serious home video makers do? Is there an app or system that will automatically import only the new shots and label them by date? Sony has a system called 'PlayMemories'- is it just a goofy proprietary spinoff? If I take some home videos on my iPhone (all my hardware is Mac), can I mix the different video formats chronologically and play them through on a master timeline? Is there a future proof system in case I change or mix camera formats or companies? Thanks!
Danny Nowak I'd say be diligent with folders Year/month/day with brief description. This has worked for me. And back up everything on a separate external drive so you have it all on two drives at all times.

With my mini-DV tapes, I would often gather the family and watch an hour long tape of my boys growing up- Do you know of an application or system where I could just pick a bunch of clips (ie Bozo's Birthday') and play them smoothly and consecutively? Basic home movie watching. I've tried VLC, iMovie, iTunes and MacMediaPlayer but they all add a wee glitch or freeze frame between shots. Annoying.
