- Best for RUclips (for the money)? Full review of the Sony FDR-AX53 4K camcorder. I'll also compare it with the AX33 to see if it's worth the upgrade. And finally some sample videos from both camcorders.
Home made 5-hour battery for this camera: ruclips.net/video/xco8fiNd-Jo/видео.html
This is what a comparison video. Not like other ''bla bla" videos. Thank you. Good job.
Wow, great comparison between the two and great clips from this marvellous airshow!
Thanks for providing a very good comparison review. I learned more from this, than all the other reviews, combined.
Excellent video, thank you for all the information. I've had the AX33 for several years and have been very happy with it, but seeing your video made the decision for me to upgrade to the AX53 and keep the AX33 as a backup or use for recording from two different angles simultaneously. Thanks again, great video!
YOU ARE SOO AMAZING. THIS IS LITERALLY THE ONLY VIDEO WHERE SOMEONE IS STRAIGHT TO THE POINT. THANKS I JUST SUBSCRIBED!
Thanks for an incredible comparison and review video! Top notch.
Great comparison video, informative with entertaining clips at end.
really useful video - helped me choose which one to buy!
Awesome review..Very detailed 👍🏼
17:12 to see the quality test..
hello, i use sony axp55, you guide to install 4k video recording for quality, thank you
Exactly! Great review/comparison! Thank you.
Fantastic video. Extremely helpful, thank you so much!
Thank you. I am picking up an AX55 tomorrow, primarily based on your review. Thanks!
Same here. I have ordered a AX53 today (18-8-19) and am picking it up Friday, as they have run out of stock. I hope the camera gas Bluetooth to use with the mobile app and Wi-Fi for network use and wireless transfer of video. Just hope, unless you can tell me.
@@mickcarson8504 Video files are too big to transfer via wireless. You'd be better off using the USB cable.
Very informative video! Thank you very much for sharing so much valuable info!
When you compare these to the Panasonic FZ1000 which can also record 4K 100mbs 30fps are these better as official video cameras?
God this guy’s got a senses of humor. Love this guy!
I think they put the tripod mount behind the lens to protect the lens so it falls backwards instead of forwards.
Holy smokes I was not expecting the AX53 to cost $900 WOW! Another great video thanks for sharing.
$800, actually. Best video camcorder for the price.
The ax33 is $680 at best buy
Great review 👌🏼 but my question is can the 33 be operated by a app?
Thanks for the video. It was very informative.
Hi again, 1 more question please. Is the axp55 just the same as the ax53 except it has a projector and internal memory?
nope...ax33 not ax55...
I would not want to watch a funeral video of someone I loved.
Great posting.
On the subject of taking Photo's, you may have missed the tiny - and flush to the body - button which allows you to swap between the camcorder being a Movie or a Still-picture recorder; The default setting when you turn on is 'Movie', when this 'flush' button is first pressed you will see a 'Camera' icon in the display (which will alternate back to 'Movie' if you press it again), using the 'Photo' button you already described, whilst having selected the Camera icon, will allow a fairly comprehensive camera to be used without much in the way of a delay in taking quality still pictures.
This is the detail I needed. Getting ready to buy a camcorder. Thank you .
I record live music performances a lot and I think that the built-in mic is excellent. Also, the jack for inputting an external mic is VERY BADLY placed interfering with the right index finger which one uses to utilize the zoom and the photo button.
Excellent review/comparison, thanks. I went with the ax33 back in 2016, mainly because it is a bit more compact - I often sneak it into concerts and record songs (with an external mic of course). The 20x zoom would be nice to have at shows though.
I think the ax33 is a fantastic camera, I often use it as a B cam for professional work. The stabilization, as you say, is unique and unparalleled. The image is spectacular. I'm thinking of getting an ax53 too, before they are no longer available (obviously Sony thinks highly of them because they haven't come out with a new model).
*One small point* At 3:20 you mention that when you assign the manual ring to a particular function (such as "exposure" where I usually have it) the Intelligent Auto is off and "the stabilization will be off." That's not true, you're in manual mode and can turn on one of the stabilization options in the menu. I'm sure you realize this and simply misspoke. .
Great work and thanks!
Great comparison, man.
great review
Does the camcorder stay on if you close screen with the display facing out?
If I had to guess, the tripod mount is so far forward so that when you do a pan with a tripod there's less parallax since the rotation will be centered closer to the focal plane of the lens. But that seems like a really fiddly reason to compromise the balance of the camera as a whole.
You had me at 4K Funerals... Sub'd!
can we get buckey effect from this camcorder ?
Im deciding between the AX33 and the DJi Osmo Pocket... do you have any experience with the osmo pocket? Its quite handy and convenient to take during vacations (I will use it primarily to capture our family vacation footage only. Thanks.
does dji osmo pocket have zoom. if not, i'd go for ax33
Amazing video.
Muchísimas gracias amigo.
handheld or gimbal? the footage at the end as sample of both camera?
Thanks for your detail sharing. I like it very much.
to vuaeco. They put: what you call the "tripod mount" all the way forward. Because this camera is suppose to be used with a tripod with a "floating head". The quick release plates are generally rectangular.
nice video and great to see the comparison between the AX53 and AX33. i would not want the attached USB cable as this is something that will go wrong quickly, flexible cables brake internally and will need to be sent away to be fixed where as a micro USB cable is only pennies to get a new one or have two in your bag. Thanks for this video
Thanks for your presentation.
thanks. help me to decide .
does it stop recording after 30 minutes?
No it does not. It will do it until your battery or memory card is out.
I'm just wondering how can you use the viewfinder with the large battery, it looks like it would be in the way.
you can tilt the viewfinder up and it's out of the way.
@@vuaeco Hey, thanks for the quick reply, I find I need a bigger battery with my old Panasonic. My Panasonic has no viewfinder and I filmed an airshow at the weekend and the LCD screen was hopeless. I'm think I'm going to buy a new AX55 which I presume is a newer version of the 53?
Excellent review.
Not excellent at all..... Vuaeco tells AX53 has a larger sensor than AX33. --THAT IS ABSOLUTELY WRONG-- Ax33 has a 1/2.3'' sensor (7.76 mm) and AX53 has only 1/2.5'' sensor (7.2mm). Vuaeco doesn't know anything about movie cameras.
Hello, i have been looking a video where explains how does sony ax53 records slow motion, I have seen a bunch of video tests but they never explained. Thank you!!!. so the nice videos in slow motion is not because the camcorder record it that way, is because you can edit it to look that way??. I though you can set the camera and record it in a good quality slow motion. why everybody in their videos showing slow motion say that you can record a good quality slow motion videos?? . or maybe is it a way, I see they can set up to 120fps. I can not find out how.
Does it have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi?
On another video ,we are told the sensor is bigger in the 33. Any thoughts ?
It is! Ax-33 is 20.6 Mp, and Ax-53 is 16.6 Mp. This is borne out by photos on Amazon and specs.
The humor is on point. My ax33 has never overheated. Find a miniature umbrella and your good.
Good point. Now I know why they put a miniature umbrella on the Mai Tai drink so it'll keep the ice from melting!
Awesome review. I have a 33. Its a good camcorder.
Hi bro, thanx for your very nice revieuw...and..what about the AX700...?is it also choppy like the AX100 you think...better or not than the AX53?With this AX53...i would only use it forQuality HD recordings...for 4k quality recordings...I would use the AX700...(what do you think about that?)..thanx bro.
The AX700 would be a much better camcorder. But it's 2 to 3 times the price of the AX53. That would be my next upgrade though, when its price is going down low enough. :D
@@vuaeco exactly yes... ;)
I have AX33 and from yesterday AX53,too 👍
Then in 1080 doesnt overheats?
good review. Well, to be honest, I did not like charging via usb cable from the camera. in sony625 the cable broke constantly. I even then looked for a camera specifically without such a built-in usb cable. chamber 53 the fire still seems to me.
How are you able use sports mode I can’t
not interested in 4k, what is the most inexpensive model with Balanced Optical SteadyShot
try 5v usb 10000 mah fone battery,,, into usb port,,, can camera record this way,, w ext. battery or not,,, does the empty/no charge/ sony batt also have to be stuck into camera at all times,,, or can u take it off....
Is it true that the boss stabilization does not work when filming in 4k? Thxs in advance
No it is not true. The stabilization is always active (when it's on)
Great video. What is that small mic brand?
It's a Sony Tie Clip Microphone model number ECM-CS3
@@vuaeco Thanks so much. I like this camera. Already leaning toward it and your review sealed it for me.
Where could i find those extended batteries? I want it to last 4 hours.
I just made a 5-hour battery for it. Check this out: ruclips.net/video/xco8fiNd-Jo/видео.html
AX-53...I wanted to know if you have recorded clips of more than 15gb continuous in this camera in 4k ... I have a problem with this camera, because it happened to me that such a long clip does not show ... you have any experience.Thank you.
I have the AX53 and have recorded clips bigger than 60gb no problem. So it should work
Amazing how model numbers vary from country to country. AX30, AX45, AV55, AX60A, AX60B, it can get seriously confusing.
I'm currently looking for a brand new A53 here in Taiwan and it'll basically be used out on night paranormal investigations due to its nightshot ability, I'll be using other separate Ordo LN 3 IR units to compliment the AX53 IR capabilities.
Thank You A lot Dear Sir for your Video teaching for your practical professionnal experience , Best Regards , Respectfully Roland Tan
What's the awesome background music at 7:47
I think you have the sensor sizes backwards. You mention that the new AX-53 has a bigger sensor than the older model (ax-33). But according to the specs I can find on Sony's site, it's the other way around. The AX-33 has a 1/2,3" sensor and the AX-53 has a 1/2,5" sensor, which is smaller. Which means the AX-33 has an advantage imagewise!
Sony Ax33 how much is it? And 53 how much is it?
💓 QUESTION : Can we charge n record Ax53 Simultaneously?
yes you can have you camera plugged in to a mains and continue recording if you need to.
@@CHUKDEPHATTE Is it also possible with the AX33 ? I mean... it should be possible with any camera that is over 200 euros, but I prefer to ask...
I love my AX53.
I want to have one please tell me.
Where on Earth are 4K60 camcorders at the ~£600 mark?! I've been waiting for a 4K60 camcorder around this price range for about 8 years now. But every year all any of these companies seems to do is rebrand their 4K30 again!
The Sony AX-53 came out very late 2015 / early 2016, which in itself was a refresh of the AX-33. Are Sony really saying they have no better sensor and processor to make a new camcorder in 2020? So what do Sony do? They remove the EVF from the the AX-53, call it the AX-43 and then charge the same price as what you can already pick up the AX-53 for anyway!
Why is 4K60 taking so long to arrive at a non-pro price point? Phones and GoPros have been doing 4K60 for years and in many cases have even moved from this to 4K120 and 8K30. When are we going to see Panasonic or Sony bring this to ~£600 price point? HC-VX2 or AX-63? They wouldn't even need to spend that much money developing them either, they could keep the lens and OIS and body and everything else the same, just update the sensor and processors to give us 4K60 using H.265.There is no technical reason they can't, heat has nothing to do with it as I said phones and action cameras have done it for years and have a much tighter power/heat envelope to work within.
What annoys me most is all these companies keep crying out that 'phones are stealing all their customers' but then they are so slow to give us new features such as 4K60. Phones come out every single year and move things on significantly every single year, so is it really a surprise customers forget amount them?
For my use-case which is filming low league football, handheld, pitch side you do need a proper dedicated camcorder because the image stabilisation is much better on these than it is on a larger sensor mirrorless camera plus the fast electric zooming and super fast focusing is very much needed too. I just wish someone brought out 60fps version because I often need to slow down clips for goals or fouls, a 4K60 version of the AX43 or HC-VX1 would be a perfect camcorder.
I can tell you why the tripod mount is all the way to the front. I hoped it would be actually. The reason for this is the possibility for changing batteries when the camera is on a tripod. On some cameras you have to remove it from the tripod to be able to change batteries because the release button for the batteri us underneath the camera. Sometimes even the placement for the memorycard is underneath, that is just as bad.
That's a good point. But most tripod/mounts aren't big enough to cover the battery. Mine still has plenty of room. So it only applies to certain people, not the majority.
@@vuaeco They don't cover the battery but the release button that releases the battery. I've been thinking about buying the camera but it's a problem that this button is underneath it. One of my cameras has the button underneath like this. I have a lot of things connected to the camera, like extra 7inch screen, microphones etc. If I need to remove the battery I have to take it all of because the tripod covers the release button. This button should always be on the side of the camera. Same goes for the placement of the memory-card.
By the way, thanks for a fine review.
hello, can show us wich video you have make with Ax 53 ..? Thank you.
All of my recent videos from 2019 until now are made from AX 53
@@vuaeco One more question please, I have seen many videos who people complain about the 4k videos, has problem with 24 fps. If i understand, you are make all your videos at 1080p ( for this, they are smooth on the moving from frame to frame ) ...... HOW MANY frames, are you making your footage 30 - 60 fps or there is something else ...??? Thank you so much for your time and your answer.
I have the 33. Where can I buy an extended battery
Try ebay.
Thank you, bic boi.
You sound like black panther. Wakanda forever 🤚😋
Is still worth to buy ? And which one?
Did you watch this video? :D
@@vuaeco I watched 3 times but I still dont now the answer. You have 2 old camcorders, which you cannot compare to panasonic colors... What is your answer ?
Great
You know how to do a comparison video, man.
I like to do timelapse. But, the extremely limited (rudimentary) timelapse capability of the AX53 would rarely, if ever, be used by me. So, not a deal breaker on the AX33.
All else taken into account, yes the choice IS clear. AX33 wins the day.
At 14:03 you say that the ax53 has a bigger sensor size. But that is incorrect. The ax53 has a smaller sensor size (1/25'') as compared to ax33 (1/23'). However the pixel size in ax53 is larger.
I think the same.Good Job Boy :D
i wish the ax33 did timelapse
I have them both and I think the ax33 is better in colors :)
and more wide angle? 24 mm vs 26,5 mm?
I'll admit it, I'm not a fan of the floating lens, but mostly because my camera is on a tripod and I spend more time trying to stabilize the lens when I adjust the tripod.
To better illustrate this:
1. Adjust the tripod.
2. Sight in the place where I want to film.
3. Wait for the floating lens to settle.
4. Adjust again because it has moved from the point I wanted it to be in.
5. Wait for it to settle.
6. Micro adjust it slightly.
With an action shot, I could totally see a purpose to it, but if it's always on a tripod, I don't think there's any net benefit with it.
metamech Go into the menu settings. You can turn stabilisation off on the AX53
New sub thanks
love the way you say button

Which one is better? Ax33 and Ax53 the zoom which one is furter.
8:57 Christ, I couldn't even read half that in that time.
click that pause button!
Lol
I'm disappointed my ax33 doesn't do time lapse...
I disagree about the quality of still photos. I find them to be very, very good.
Please explain it correctly. The sensor is small 1 / 2.5 inches. Lentil sensor. the video camera is shooting poor quality. You will want to sell it in a few years.
