      @@hsy2448 that’s not true in a lot of cases, for example a 6’5 guy who plays futures could easily serve bigger then a 5’10 guy who is top 100. It really just depends on the player

      @@thegoatarslanrizvi1179 But on average 6’5/5’10 guys at challenger level serve better than 6’5/5’10 on futures level. That's what OP meant.

    oh the pain - that 7-7 shot. after you've replayed that in your head over and over, stop at 50. put the frustration in a box and pull it out and use it for motivation in the future. you guys were within 1 point.

      one takeaway i'd say having just watched this is that you need to become more of a disruption at the net when your partner is serving. you guard your alley well and you pick a few off. this works but not so much at challenger. you should discuss this with your partner if you agree.

      Yeah that 7-7 hurt…. And funny you mention in the second comment, something I’m working hard on right now, being a lot more aggressive out there- taking up more space!!

    Great match! As you said yourself, need to work on putting those volleys away. Your partner is doing a great job there, managing to put them very short cross.

    • @riosrios5466

      He has great hands indeed and almost no back swing on those volleys which allows him to hit balls in front of the body even at high speed.

    Aghh. So dead the tie-breaker 3rd sets, but even though you guys were definitely lower level wise compared to your usual, you almost got it. It's all good; you got into the challengers, and that in itself is a huge step.
    In my opinion, you guys were probably super nervous, which is totally understandable man.

    This might be a dumb question but I was wondering how come lobs aren't used more often in high level doubles tennis? I would think with the string technology and how much spin players are able to generate nowadays that it wouldn't be THAT difficult to hit some effective lobs in doubles when both players are at the net especially when a player has some time to set up. You see lobs used quite often in singles to win a point when one of the player comes forward but you almost never see this in doubles. Why is that?

    • @nikchow4791
      @nikchow4791 5 месяцев назад +1

      I think they are more than aware to use lobs in doubles, if you look at their last 25k matches, they could just been feeling tight or wasn't comfortable with hitting lobs indoors since they have been playing outside for a good awhile, but thats just my guess.

    • @matsknoeff2855
      @matsknoeff2855 5 месяцев назад +1

      Thing with lobs is as well its all or nothing, too short it gets smashed away and too long its out, sometimes its better to just hustle and play a normal shot at a net player

    Ah higher level tournament, rubbish camera. The wonders of challenger TV because 360p footage is really gonna work well to watch a very fast moving yellow ball. Even some cheap phone would do a much better job. Unlucky in the lost, you are definitely at the level just need a bit of confidence to put together a run.

    Kind of a shame tennis hasn't developed a fair play culture where players correct wrong decisions made by the umpire out of respect for the opponents. In this case the serve going through a hole in the net.

    • @mbr1254
      @mbr1254 5 месяцев назад

      One of the cultural points in tennis is the fact that the umpire often has to hold firm with their initial decision. Rarely, do they get to backtrack.
