You can install a simple door seal on the bottom of the top half of the split door. Use barrel locks and lose the stop to give you a comfortable useful shelf on the bottom half. Nice build.
Shou Sugi Ban. It's a Japanese wood preservation technique where you burn the wood exterior. It helps to seal the wood and makes it unattractive to pests since they are instinctively not into fire and burned things.
I notice the metal roof has seams going perpendicular to the roof beams, do you use some kind of binding agent to fuse those panels together in that area? Or like a caulk? If so what do you use?
That's correct. There is a 6 inch overlap between the panels. I generally use silicone (liberally) in those overlap sections and and then additionally run a bead externally to the seam itself. Haven't had any issues with that thus far.
Well these are trailers and are typically insured by way of the tow vehicle. If you are referring to more of a full coverage vs. liability, that's definitely trickier (near impossible) since insurance companies can't really place a value on these since they tend to be custom one offs that are built in a myriad of different ways. The same holds true for most forms of tiny houses.
@TinyIndustrial I've been researching for awhile. Alot of insurance places want it to be Noah Certified. It cost alot more money to build. I ended up going with a 12k 16ft car hauler I added side extensions to. Yeah waaay more expensive but supposedly you can sell these Certified homes easier. It was $2500 for the membership and $4700 for the trailer with the mods. But estimated value by noah would be around $41k but I'm not greedy. Of course they do all your inspections etc. They have a long list of codes etc. I had to completely redesign 90% of it but I did keep your roof design because you are truly talented and an inspiration in alot of areas
I see your point. There are places though where an external container might be used to capture the grey water, in which case the trap would come in handy vs. not having one.
@@TinyIndustrial the problem is not durability. The problem is how smoking hot aluminium roofs get if you don't coat them with an elastomeric reflective coating.
I'm sorry that you apparently don't value your time or skills very highly. Why don't you copy my design, build one of these, and sell it for less? Hope you have a nice weekend.

Not sure I follow. Isn't that what I did? Thanks for the comment. Are you looking to build one of these or just curious?
@@TinyIndustrial Both, thanks.
@@michaelfickel I see. Well let me know if you have any additional questions or comments. Good luck with the build.
the secondary 'escape hatch' option with the front window is a smart design from a safety standpoint
Thanks. Safety is important. Are you planning on building one of these or simply curious?
I built mine inspired by your book! (Peek at my avatar to see, but it is very different too. :) Just now finishing interior)
That's so great! Good for you. Thanks for getting the book as well. Please let others know that you found it to be helpful. Much appreciated.
The back roofing beams has been "what"? I like all the windows in this build.

i realize it's pretty off topic but does anyone know a good site to watch new series online?
@Santiago Ezekiel Flixportal :)
@Malik Kaiser thank you, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it !!
@Santiago Ezekiel glad I could help xD

How do we insure these?

I see you have a trap on your sink drain. Gotta' watch out for sewer gas right?

That un-coated aluminium roof is a resounding NO! Otherwise OK.
Hmm. Ok, never really had any problems with them. It will tarnish and oxidize over time, but should be rather durable.

Oh yeah, they do get pretty hot. Got to have good insulation underneath. I like the Roxul stuff. Doesn't care how hot it gets.
This dude rips the hell out of the people on the prices..I'm a carpenter of 35 yrs..I would never charge a person that much! Thumbs down!

daninal should post his trailer build, or anything he has actually has done, before commenting.
Thanks!
