  • My homemade vardo and my homemade campsite make me so happy! I got to live in her all summer while I worked on improving my land and harvested trees for my future log cabin. What a joy to return to my vardo every night and settle into the rhythm of life in the woods.

    1) Maysie daisy DA WOOF is JUST FINE! She's too old for adventures and traveling anymore so she lives a quiet life. She'll pop in videos once in a while but no more hard core adventures for her- to hard on her.
    2) I think it was a wasp that stung me. The effects lasted over a week and now I'm fine. I didn't have benedryl or calomine lotion in my first aid kit (such a fail), so I handled it the best I could.
    Thank you for watching!

If it iches, you are dealing with an alergy. BAKING SODA AND ICE IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU GET STUNG, that helps to pull the poison out.
Yes, you need to keep benadryl on hand from now on, since you had one allergic reaction, your body will do it again.

Brooke, next time you go in a store get some Adolph's Meat Tenderizer for stings. Venom from insects and plants are protein and Meat Tenderizer dissolves the protein in minutes. A wasp sting will stop stinging in minutes and disappear. Keep it in your first aid kit. Put some in your palm, add a few drops of water, and apply to the string. Works for bull nettle, and even helps mesquite thorn punctures. It saved me from a wasp attack once and about 20 stings disappeared in minutes. Everyone should know this. I'm glad you're over it now. Thanks for another great video! 👍😁

That's why campers should all have to sign a document to which site they were and ranger needs to tell them to FLOOD the spot after they had a fire! Campers SHOULD know this and they cause fires too. Alaskan trees have very shallow root system, it's why if you start cutting randomly, the other larger trees can fall over from wind and called a "widow maker". I've seen camp managers come in when they know you're leaving, look at the fire pit and will flood it even though you just did for an hour. You can't put too much water on the site especially if you allowed it to go out right before bed, it's gonna still be hot in the morning, after breakfast people think pouring a bottle of water puts it out. Nope. You need to add a BATH SIZED amount of water. Watch you'll see it bubble with heat.

The firepit advice is outstanding. Someone started a fire at the edge of a large woods in Michigan not knowing there was 12 foot deep peat muck soil underneath. The surface looked like normal everyday soil. The fire worked its way down into the muck. We spent a whole month fighting the fire. The only way to put out the fire was to dig a trench all around to below the muck and fill the trench with water. Thankfully, after keeping the water flow for a couple of days it rained very hard for a couple more days. The water, rain and working the fire area with long poles finally put the fire out. Even then most of the mass had to burn up to the trench before it finally stopped.

OMG Brook. My daughter had the same exact thing. A bee sting and it got worse and worse. Turned out to be blood poisoning. They told her she should have come in two days earlier. Please get it checked out it also looks like it could be an allergic reaction to histamines.

I love that picnic table you built. I tried camping in CA and the bees were just as bad when you try to cook or eat. They're so rude. At the time, I had an RV and they were banging into the screen trying to get in. After my dog got stung, we left. Couldn't go outside. I love your vardo. Good music, too.

Hi Brooke. I've been binge watching all your vlogs. I'm curious....why do you and Dave want so many cabins and properties? I can see a main home and a bug out location. I'm just in awe at how much you get done. I'm also hooked on your son's vlogs.
