    Great update Jay, the poor polyp extension on the hammer could be due to higher flow? Did it coincide with the install of the additional wavemaker or change in flow?

      That's a good shout. Not too sure what's upset it. I have gone down to 1 wavemaker at the moment, so I will see how it goes over the next few days. Would be absolutely gutted if it died! Thanks for taking the time to help me mate. Looking forward to your next update. 👍

    The flow on the torches is quite strong, not sure if that is the reason for some of the minor struggles.

    • @jaysrealreefuk

      Blenny is usually knocking around and the goby spends loads of time outside the rocks when I'm not in the room! As I've found out using the CCtV 🤣😂. Bloody hell 😂🤣😂 you don't want me reviewing the nitrate checker - it will take me over an hour. Hanna would block it for ruining sales 🤣. I've seen it to be fair, but my tanks runs between 2 and.4ppm, so I'm sticking with the ULR checker. I think they will sell alot of the new ones though. Thank you for watching and commenting. 👍

    Great update, I’m new to reef keeping also and I have been advised not to use carbon as it removes the trace elements, what’s your thoughts?

    • @jaysrealreefuk
      @jaysrealreefuk  3 года назад

      Welcome to reefing. That was me 8 months ago and I absolutely love it. Carbon splits opinion. I've always used a small amount from day one. In my opinion it can't be that bad, it comes with the Red Sea Max setup. Always go below the recommended amount and it will do a job, without creating issues. Carbon is great for water clarity and removing potential toxins in the water column. Also the sea is the largest store of carbon in earth and that's where the reefs are. I will always use in small amounts. Hope that helps mate. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    Why is the trachi in the cave? Too much light otherwise?
    How much money are you in for 8 months btw?

    • @jaysrealreefuk
      @jaysrealreefuk  3 года назад +1

      Good question. So my trachi doesn't like sitting on the sand bed, prefers being in the rock work. Thought I'd try it poking out of the cave and it seems to love it there. They are a low light coral anyway and I run the AB+ setting, so lots of light reflecting around the tank. Also my conch snails like to do laps of the tank, but with the Trachyphyllia at full extension it blocked their path! They hated it. 😂. Should never ask about money in this hobby! Everything you see is over 3.5k 😬 crazy really. But I have tended to go for the best and therefore more expensive stuff. Nano can be setup for sub 1k. Thank you for commenting and watching. 👍

      @@jaysrealreefuk a mixed reef is the hardest one to get right. You don't need tonnes and tonnes of flow because your not sps dominant with massive colonies. As long as you've polyp extension on your sps it's enough.
