wow your LPS are looking great!
So many species of goni 🙌. Delightful update as these are my favourite corals. Great video Alex 👍
Finally caught the update!
I love the waterbox frag..... I purchased one when they stopped production thinking I made it in time, but the order fell through and missed out 😢
I had to go with a marine x 60 as an alternative.
I'm still gutted to this day.......
Great light combo, all looking great! 😎👌
Looking good! 👌💯✌️
. Those Goni's look fantastic! The one at the top of the tank looks amazing
Tang police 😂
Good work ! Thanks 👍
Just love lps👏
Most Excellent Alex, it's excellent to hear from you. Manganese is such a Manly additive 😂
Follow up post 8 months later - I have SOME Gonis that are doing great
And I've had 3-4 other smaller frags just crater no matter what I did with regards to placement or feeding etc.
Yep, similar to me! Lovely corals but still a finicky one!
Hi thanks for the update do you have the stls for the zoa plugs u have on the bottom! really love that idea
I'm going to be selling them so can't give the STL file away I'm afraid
@@ReefDork awwwe dang ok
thank you for sharing. may I ask what Manganese reagent you are dosing?
Reef Zlements
Quick question when cleaning scolly skeleton how do you grasp it most of time its to lil to really grasp i wanted to check for pest but cant
Hey man love the tank, did you create that aqua scape yourself or did you purchase it from someone? If purchased where from ?
Bought it from rraquascapes
I have always had trouble with Goni
Not any more!
@reef dork
do you do icp tests on the goni tank if so what are the readings and what does manganese look like ?
Last icp said 0.9 vs desired level of 2. But I think mn gets used up quickly, so I just make sure I have some in my tank every day - 1ml in the morning for when my corals start photosynthesising and 1ml at night for the chaeto.
What type of manganese do you dose?
Is that a fan on the left side of the tank? The white one? Tank is looking phenomenal!!
Yep, it's the new Tunze one
looking good mate, just wondered if you know anything about those Reefi uno 2.0 pro led's ? They are from the States but people seem realy impressed by these lights.
Don't know much about them, except that Telegram likes them which is usually a reliable measure.
On paper they make radion g6 look like 💩
Hi Alex how'd you manage to get such a deep angle with your Nero 5's on the back glass?,the cup magnet that connects to the pump itself aren't that deep on mine to permit such an angle, cheers
3D printed mount from reefparts.co.uk
Bit off topic but I was watching one of your old videos where did you get your regal angel from I can’t find any small ones near me 😊
Reefkeeper Moss End
Sweet thank you
What size tank is that in all your Nero’s working in the sink
24x24x16 yeah 2 opposite are in sync
Who makes the rails that you use for the kessil blade combo?
I DIY'd it
@@ReefDork I just ordered the same - Kessil a360x and two ai blades - so will need to do the mount on my own than :D
where did you get those frag plug domes?
Made them myself with a 3D printer
Any chance you could post the link to the bracket you have used to mount the blades to kessil? I'm going to be using the same combo but I'm struggling to find a way to mount them to the kessil.....
I made it myself - I used the end brackets from the Reefbrite quad mount but DIY'd everything else
@ReefDork ah thought that might be the case! I hoped there was just bracket you can buy...
Question, how do you maintain your sandbed?
On your big tank
I don't, I just leave it
Your LPS tank looks great!!!
My tank is 180x60x60 LPS . How do you manage to run 4 nero 5 without blasting your corals. I don’t get the right flow in my tank. To much or dead spots. How much is to much flow? I don’t know it’s possible to sendt pics of my tank for your opinion? Kind regards
I run them at 30% each - don't think I'd want much more flow than in this tank for LPS
@@ReefDork thank you for the info. You run them 30% in puls together or random?
Hi Alex, where did you get your pectinia from? Tank looks great!!
Signature frags
@@ReefDork I did wonder 🤑, Christian does do beautiful corals!
I have these candy cane corals and they were getting burned by my anemones anyways I put them in my 210g fowlr and my butterflyfish won’t even touch them haha I do feed them a lot tho
I’m new to the hobby, I’ve been doing a 10 percent water change a week, now that I see your doing a 20 percent weekly is my 10 percent enough? Or would 20 be better on my 50 gallon?
It's just easy for me to do 20% because I have a large water vat right next to the tank. And that gives me the comfort that I can get lazy and miss a week every now and then. I have 3 tanks so it's hard keeping up with maintenance sometimes so this helps with that. Most people do 10% per week - that's what I do on my main tank.
Reef factory roller , better than red sea one? , they got new one coming out small one the 250, I'm be interested,
Both very good, if I was buying one I'd probably just prefer the RF one, in no small part cos it's more compact.
@@ReefDork that's great thanks for the advice maybe the red sea 250 when it comes out
Hey Al, what kind of rockwork are you using in this tank? Looks kind of a BRS-TV negative scape selfbuilt structure?
It's made by a company called RR Aquascapes - it has loads of caves and hidey places for the fish too 🙂
@@ReefDork thanks, i appreciate the reply!
What bracket did you get to mount the ai blades?
I used the end brackets from the Reefbrite quad mount then DIY'd the rest with a bit of 3D printing
Thanks for the reply, also how did you figure out how much manganese to dose for your goni’s? Without sending off for icps I wouldn’t know.
Do you feed your corals in anyway please?
Not directly, I just let them catch any fish food. I occasionally feed reef energy ab+ but I don't like to do so often
Which brand of manganese do you use?
Reef Zlements because it's cheaper than Triton. Although if you buy the 1 litre bottle of Triton, it works out slightly cheaper still.
@@ReefDork Okay brilliant, thanks Alex!
Should be able to just top up calcium and magnesium once and a while and leave Kalk going. They might be low in the water change salt .
Have you considered doing just All for Reef with a tank this size? The BRS DIY package would be pretty cost effective.
Nah, expensive, no individual control and no pH benefits
dang 1-2 mL of Mg?! geez... My Mg dropped to about 1140 my gonis have closed up and I started dosing 100 mL a day and it only maintained the 1140. I've jumped up to 120 mL a day hoping I can start to slowly raise those levels.. I'm on a red sea 200.
Manganese, not magnesium...
Oh man I thought the video wasn’t going to have that annoying song but it slowly faded in lol. Love that you are talking normally in this video and not doing a fake excited voice. Thanks for the update!
Nah, I like an excited voice! If I’m going to blow 5G on reef gear it had better be exciting😂
How big is this tank ?
24x24x16 inches
@@ReefDork how many gallons?
Oi m8, hello from Massachusetts
Maybe put some encrusting corals on the bottom like cyphastrea or leptoseris?
That looks great at first but becomes a nightmare when it spreads!
Interesting, would it still be able to grow up the shaded feet of your rockwork?@@ReefDork
@@mrmud probably yeah - I find corals grow in the shade, they just don't show any real colour on those parts
Alex, please stop stealing my DeLorean. I know you like to time travel, but you aren't even filling up the gas tank when you give it back. And yes, I really do have a DeLorean.
In sync *
I have a Goniopora that has done well and honestly I don't know why.
I do regular water changes, that's about it. Probably just got lucky with the light placement.
I have other corals that just won't do well and I can't seem to figure it out. (acans)
Feed acans....they like to be fed ....try the fuana marin LPS pellets mixed with reef roids or benepets like foods and make sure they stay in relatively low light mid to low flow conditions
@@Sammy31Dee I think it’s a light issue
I don’t know what I used to keep the lights at when it was doing well but here lately it’s been at 120-140 par which is probably too much
Need more flow 😂 JK 😜
Why dont you use tropic marine all for reef, have manganese inside and also the powder dissolves 100%.Magnesium also,i loved. My corals love it
Kalkwasser is much cheaper and boosts pH which AFR doesn't
I dose Zlements PH+ during the night and AFR during day, Icp tests came back with only 4 trace elements on low side... a lot better than just dosing Zlements. I think Zlements doesnt have what AFR has and versa. My ph is more less no swing at all. Basically PH+ works same as Kalk but obviously is more expensive to run
