The goniopora i got from tidal gardens 3 years back is the most hardy coral in my tank.. it thrived in different locations within the tank, a tank upgrade and a tank move when we relocated.. it trippled in size and became a giant in the tank.. its one of our favorite coral in our tank along with torch ..
Revisiting an old video and just wanted to say thank you for the details. I love it when you're specific while others might just generally say, make sure to feed your gonis.
Very helpful Video. It looks like it saved my Goni. After feeding directly, the polyps came out about 1mm (the first time for about a Month). After feeding 2h later again, they are about 5-7mm out, got a bit more colorful/fleshy (on the skeleton). It looks like thats the solution for me. Seems that the coral needs many food and direkt feeding. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. 👍
I picked up a goniopora at the store and it was doing well for a couple weeks and closed up and I waited 3 days and it still wasn't opening. I normally feed my corals every other day sometimes every day. So this goni isn't opening, and I decide to just squirt the amino soaked reef roids all over the coral and I have been doing that every day for 4 days and it is starting to open and extend tentacles again even though I can't tell it's eating anything at all. So great advice
Really informative video. I have a small Goni frag that has been in my aquarium just short of 6 months. I do supply aminos and a powder feed. Lovely corals. I was wary about buying the coral initially knowing the history of the coral.
I have a red and green goni, about the same size as this big red one in this video. They are 8 years old and continue to grow :) I feed them about 5 times a year! They are my prize corals and house my clowns. I put down their success to hosting clowns and that I’ve always run NSW, I keep my tank at NSW parameters. They must be getting manganese through water changes. I did however run Julian sprungs sand for a year that has manganese in it, but ... my SPS didn’t agree so much, not sure how true it is or the link. They grow best under plasma light for some reason. Hands down one of the most beautiful LPS in my opinion. Tip! Let them have their space in the tank, no touching anything, they even hate rocks and too much flow. But strangely they put up with the clowns. I think they hate jaggy things as they are delicate.
Thank you for these vids guys. Perfect timing I have a small goni i have been struggling with for awhile. I will start feeding reef chili or the like a 2-3 times a week and see if that helps
I live in Champaign county here in Ohio. I would love to take a tour in the future, if you do tours that is. I have a green Goniopora. I have had it for about for about 4 months. It looks like it has grown a little. We shall see.....
I bought two Gonioporas 2.5 years ago. One disappointingly died after a year but the other is thriving spectacularly even though I have not looked after my tank very well for about a 4 month period. I have fed it reef-roids only once or twice.
Hi Than, a question if I may? It mentions on this video and your Goni info page that lower lighting should be favoured until you see the coral demand more, what should I look for? I lowered my AI Primes to 40% blues and some white, they responded well to this after not opening at around 80%, but I wouldn’t say fully extended maybe 3/4, are they wanting more light do you thing, seem to be feeding well and parameters stable at 9dkh, 420 calcium, 0.04 phosphate, nitrate 5-10
Looking for better polyp extention out of my goniopora corals. Looking to start dosing iron & manganese does anyone have a good recomendation on a product?
I use a mix of powdered foods so I can't speak to that product alone, but I've seen some other people's videos where they fed it exclusively and liked the results.
Here’s the correct role of Magnesium in a reef tank. Magnesium makes calcium carbonate less attractive to calcium and carbonate ions; thus keeping the right level of calcium and alkalinity as well as limiting deposits of calcium carbonate in equipments.
Sorry for the re-upload. The messed up text overlay was bugging me too much!
As long as the almighty Than is happy, the world can continue to spin.
If I drive six hours can I come hangout for a day? :)
#FeelYa
I can confirm having the same experience with "'Goonys".
Low flow, low light, high on food.
Keep on going, love your stuff

This tank is so amazing, and ever-evolving. Perfect example of why it’s so worthwhile to aim for having a mature reef.
I'm just astounded by your approach in integrating video content and expertise advice I will continue to watch your videos

Gday from Sydney Australia! Thank you so much for this video. You’ve helped me so much! Keep them coming.
Another great video. Love how relaxing your care videos are

The initial commentary is exactly what happened to my first goni. It went from a conversation piece to non-reactive in 5 mos.

5 times a year?
What?
Just bought one over the weekend. Mine is absolutely beautiful! $16 and it expands unbelievably.
So helpful! I just came home from a coral show with my first goni, I couldn't remember even what I had...
May I ask, was there an ideal target range for the Mn levels in a Goni dominated system?
Love the content, much appreciated!

And did it helped ?
And did it helped ?
Love these vidoes! (and Goni's!)

Amazing video 👏👏👏👏

Awesome!
What are your mag, cal and kh levels?
THAT GLITTER BOMB FOOTAGE💣💣💥🤤🤤🤤
Can you feed reefroids to them?
You da man! Thx sir!
@tidalgardens What is the name of the Gonni at 6:01? Thanks!
Glitterbomb goni
Can a reef that is heavily stocked (fish) and fed be a substitute for direct feeding of the goni’s?
What was the goby in the first shot at the bottom?
mandarin dragonette
Looking for better polyp extention out of my goniopora corals. Looking to start dosing iron & manganese does anyone have a good recomendation on a product?
I have a one and it got stung and I don’t know what to do
Do they do well with reef roids?
Reef Roids was formulated with Goniopora in mind. I find them sorta tricky to feed.
Would Goni's benefit from Reef-Roids?. This is what I feed my other corals so just wanting to know If i'm wasting my time feeding them the same stuff.
I use a mix of powdered foods so I can't speak to that product alone, but I've seen some other people's videos where they fed it exclusively and liked the results.
question, can goniopora toxin can kill a human like zoa toxin?
Alk in natural sea water is not 8 to 9dkh. Its 6.5 to 7.5dkh
I feel this is one of those things that could vastly change based of location
I don’t want to jinx myself but I’ve had really good luck with my butterscotch Goni. Acros though....fml

He don’t miss 🤷🏽♂️
How do I know if the Goni I just spent $120 on is a glitter or special?
Not the field of weed I was thinking about
Field of wheat.
@@Trenton.D wheat doesn’t smoke as nice
Then I must comment again I dont know what I said last time I guess uh get some goniopora guys
I have one and it got stung and I don’t know what to do for it
