" WLW could literally , rain locust on our community and we would still buy it ! " Actually laughing hysterically at that one . My wife is giving me the , what's wrong with you face ....
One of my favorite vids lately from you guys ! 🥃
Cheers!
I looked for this comment me too 😂😂
@@BourbonJunkieswhat about $37 in Oklahoma with tax
Appreciate you guys doing your part to decrease demand for W12. If more YT channels keep this trend going I might actually be able to find a bottle next year.
It's a 12 year BT product. It's going to continue to be hard to get unfortunately. That being said. I crushed a bottle of W12 earlier this year and it lacks character IMO. Sweet and smooth. A great daily drinker with a much too high price tag.
I agree. It's a good whiskey. No way is it worse than Special Reserve in the Bottle. I'd say it's worse than Full Proof and 107 obviously, and comparable (though slightly worse) than CYPB. It would be great for MSRP and if it were available since it's a good 12-year, easy drinking bourbon. But it does lack character complexity, likely due in part to being 90 proof. I've never tried/seen Single Barrel though.
Just saw one at a small store in Claymont, DE... Think it was $150 or $200. They also had Blantons $135, WHTay $200 and a couple other allocated bottles. Surprising little finds right off the highway. Ridge liquors. Owners were real chill and helpful.
I busted out laughing when Dan flipped that bottle into the ceiling. Then he caught it…Savant stuff right there.
Weller 12 is my favorite of the Weller line outside of WLW. I also beats out Lot B for me.
The people that disliked this video probably bought special reserve for $100 lol
A flight to Ohio is cheaper
Just got a bottle for $32 at the distillary
I go to the distilleriey for a trip... im buying 1 of every bottle, im not leaving without 3 or 4 cases
I spent $50 (based on hype) and would never pay over $30 a bottle again. Nice, but nothing special
Paid 45 today
Thank you for continuing this series, I was hoping you would.
Big fan of the tier series. I can’t wait for O.F!
Either them or WT next
Took me a second to realize you were talking about Old Forester (I hope).
@@MrRossman2 we are 😎
Old Forester for my vote
Beam. The good Beams....the ones that don't say Jim Beam on them.
Once again guys, another great episode!!! Not shocked with how you graded these was surprised on just a couple but after your explanations I totally agree. Great job.
I miss being able to get Pappy 15. My all time favorite. My dad and I used to be able to each get a bottle or 2 per year in the 70-90 $ range. Haven't been able to get one for about 4 years now.
I have a bottle of WLW that I inherited from my father in law when he passed. Been waiting to open until my brothers in law are with me.
Love this series! Def different idea. Puts everything into perspective (my word for the night 🧐)
Gotta give you guys credit on these tiered rating videos again. I really liked the early ones, but this one with the "digital" board is a huge improvement. Great job!
Much appreciated! Little more work on our side, but so much cleaner
I enjoy this format and agree with your rankings in this case!
The W12 is hands down an A….. also pretty easy to get down here in the southern states.
Up here in the Midwest it’s at least $300 plus for a bottle. Not worth it. I will take Antique 107 all day long in the Weller line up. Also one of my all time favorite whiskeys.
If I could find it for retail I would be pleased.
I opened my WLW for my birthday last week. I had 3 pours, it was so good. My new favorite of all time. I will be sad when it is gone, which at this rate, will be soon. I guess I should hold out until NYE for my last pour of it.
That's how we feel about it too
I like both your attitudes towards these hyped up bottles.
Anyone else notice Dan almost knock the Warehouse C off the shelf when he put Lot B back.. Gave me a heart attack
Seeing as I've only had 107 and none of the others, this was fun to watch. Especially considering the insanity of secondary and the local PA chasers.
You could do a Beam tier list, even though Dan would crap on all of them as too nutty.
Just picked myself up a store pick Full Proof! This is now the first Weller I’ve ever owned.
Great series and fun video. Cheers 🇺🇸🥃
I love 107. With a plate of brisket, it elevated to something magical in a glass. Totally agree about 12.
There's a bottle of Weller single Barrell orange label at my local LQ store here in MD. They want $999 for it. It's still sitting there, been there about a month.
I got an 1.5oz pour for $14... it's good, not great. Like Kosher Rye Recipe with less spice.
Special reserve is a great daily drinker for the price. Last few bottles purchased. 750ml for $18.99 on 11/02/21, 1.75ml for $38 in September 2021. Wouldn’t go much over retail
Swap c.y.p.b and small batch. Antique is currently one of my favs. 🥃
Edit: the thumbnail though…. Great work guys
Had a poor of Old Rip Van Winkle with my son in New Orleans at the Sazerac bar for $30. It was definitely special. I hope to try the others. Cheers
Just realized you guys put the special reserve as S on the thumbnail probably to mess with us lol, great video as always guys, cheers!
Nicely done, I found this to be pretty similar to my rankings as well (although I never tried Pappy 20 or 23). My only beef is you guys held the price of Weller 12 against it, but seemed to ignore that with the Pappy lineup. The 12 is damn good IMO, if you get it for a fair price
100% agree with this ranking. Great video homies.
This has been one of my favorite videos in a minute y’all had me crying 😭😂 but for the most part agree with this tier list always value your opinions got a Redwood Empire Bourbon and Rocket top rye based on your video review the others day! 🙌🏻
Great show guys
One of my favorite things you’ve done. Would love to see it mashed up with a blind flight. Obviously that would have been tough with BT, but would be cool for Old Forester or Wild Turkey/Russell’s.
Having had bottles of all of the Pappys and for which I completely agree with your digital rankings, but none of the others, I must think I would agree, if I have any of the others in the future.
Love your ranking
Pappy15 is incredible. the 20 and 23 to me, are too oaky. and the Weller 107 is def A material. Great video! love these comparisons!
Dan's out here trying to cancel antique
I am having a heart attack at how close the 4 grain bottle is to the edge....
She's fiiiiiiine
Like how you are breaking down the distillery by mash bill
Switch 107 and Lot B and I would co-sign every last one of these grades.
WSB above 107 all day!!!! It’s fantastic! Agree that it’s frustrating that not all bottles are released every year.
You should do a video ranking your favorite bottles/shapes and also do a game where one of you is blindfolded, handed a bottle and have to identify what it is
OWA is an A... everything else is pretty spot on to my taste
Great jacket, Dan
Looking forward to the Turkey, Beam, 4 roses, Heaven Hill, and OF vids!
oh love the tier list thing. haven't seen one of your tier list videos before. But this was definitely a good one to watch. Now I haven't tried all of them but have had my share. Now I do like Weller 12 and enjoy it, but I know a lot of people don't. I think the Van Winkle 12 year is better than a C, but maybe it is batch to batch. I have a bottle of WLW but have not opened it yet. But now excited to open that one soon. thanks again and cheers.
Great grading, only one I’d change is PVW20 I’d put up with 15 as they are both great, but different.
I haven't watched the video yet, but I already liked it because Dan caught that bottle!
Great video, wondering what you guys would pay (or not pay) to get each of these bourbons.
Not sure your taste buds still work there boys. The Weller 12 is a solid B, the 107 is B+, but the lone single barrel I had was on par with Special Reserve. I've never had Pappy 20 or 23, but the Old Rip was a solid A, as is the Full Proof.
have to disagree on W12, bourbon is amazing
May have been the low bottle that had been opened who-knows-how-long when I got a sample from it, but Antique 107 was superior to the Rip 10 when I did a shoot out..
Rip10 is really not that good. I'd still buy it if I saw it because I have no shame.
I found a bottle of W12 in 2017 and would completely rate it an E. It was flat, oaky, not much too it. I recently found a 2021 bottle and it has been a different experience. It is much better, with more complexity. I still prefer OWA, but the newer bottle restored my “faith” in the expression… so you know, when I find it again in 5 years I don’t pass on it.
Weller special reserve is $80ish a bottle where I am (aus) and I’ll happily buy it
On the mention of Poor Man's Pappy, yall should make it.
We have a decanter with it
I have a bottle of van winkle 12 lot b and while I would rate it one tier higher than what you have here, it's definitely let down by the lack of proof. Pappy 15 remains the best bourbon I've ever tried, just really suits my pallet. Perfect amount of age/oak and that sweet soft wheat balance it out just about perfectly. I find aged higher rye bourbons to be a bit much personally, between the oak and the rye spice, it's just a lot.
First of yours I’ve seen. You guys get right to it. Nice
I get that the rankings were based on the standard bottlings, but just wanted to note that store picks definitely add a +/- 1 rank factor. I've definitely had a few OWA picks belong in A rank and a few WFP picks belong in B rank.
It's all impossible to find around here so I'll take your word for it.
I let a bottle of Weller 12 get fairly oxidized and the char pretty much faded away. Tasted very similar to the lot B. Not as rich and no coconut (which is my strongest memory of lot b), but damn good. Didn't like it until it oxidized though. In fact, that's how it became so oxidized, I really didn't want to drink it.
Weller market is ridic right now. SR is ~$70. Antique ~$125 at my two local SE Michigan shops. Both have some 12 year too but the price is not sensible lol. If I could actually get SR for MSRP it’s tough to beat imo
Dan has never been more wrong about a bottle placement than 107
You’re right, it should have been lower. I’ve had it multiple times and it’s good, but not worth over 40. On top of that, it’s not worth the effort of going to multiple stores and trying to track it down. It gets way to much hype for what it is
@@DaWAFFLES1 ......kinda like 90% of Buffalo Trace's lineup. Flava told us to don't believe the hype.
107 is highly over rated in my opinion
@@dronepocket325 Blanton’s would like a word
@@dronepocket325 blantons isnt bad, it just isnt special.
Only weller I’ve has is CYPB and it was great
Great video as always. I wonder if any bottle would be above an E at secondary prices lol
Probably not
The Weller SR is only good as a mixer IMO. I wasted 25 bucks for it, but buying a 1.75L BT for 42 bucks was a steal. Love good old BT.
I haven't tried any Weller's apart from W12 and WSR, and I can get on board with where WSR is, but the 2021 release of W12 last month I thought was absolutely delicious. Definitely agree that it's terribly hard to find
The only thing I disagree with is the fact on the price in which you say to buy the bottles. Some of us only see the bottles at SP and will never be able to try them if we never pay that. I live in a city that is huge in bourbon and it is hard not to pay for these and many more amazing bottles at SP. As always fellas keep up the awesome videos, enjoy watching you both argue between each other on whos more right. Love you all's channel.
My first and only bottle of Weller that I’ve found is Weller 12. Wasn’t a big fan. Only paid 57 for it. At least I have that going for me.
Pappy 15 is exceptional. I’m not a fan of the 23 though - overwhelming finish of vanilla. I actually like the weller special reserve for the price. Antique 107 was okay but didn’t stand out. Only other one on this list I’ve tried was the weller full proof and it seemed really flat for a lack of a better word. Smooth for the proof but not a lot of flavor and zero finish at all.
Weller SR belongs in E. It does the rest of the line a huge injustice. I think weller SR might be better than one of the benchmarks at best
Shawn, we have the same palette. Pappy 15, Weller 107, full proof below it... would put the green and black labels at the bottom, as well..... I can bet you love Larceny BP..... and Early Times BIB?
I liked the old early times bib more than the current version
What happened to Weller 12, I clearly missed something,However I agree I wouldn’t pay over retail for any of these.I leave them on the shelf,There are to many other reasonably price bourbons out there to try or buy !
Agree to Disagree....only on some of them...I haven't had most......Of the ones Dan shit on...I love them all....remember he lost twice to Greeze.
About to use my Weller special reserve as target practice.
It’s such a waste of time. Not even a good mixer…
Can you guys reverse the color gradient for the scores? Green for good, red for pour it out lol. Great video!
Great video
Would love to see a double blind for ranking.
I still have yet to see anything on this list other than the special reserve in person. It's a $hit show down here in Houston trying to get any of this.
Pappy 20 is fantastic and deserves an S. 23 is like liking a burnt stick of tree.
Love the rankings. What cocktail is Dan drinking there at the end??
We both had rum cocktails
You guys nailed this one... agree on almost every single rate... well done junkies
Apropos of nothing, I did my first blind tonight with the Buffalo Trace products I had on hand: Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Elmer T Lee, and Blanton’s and it shook out thusly:
1- Buffalo Trace
2- Blanton’s
3- Elmer T Lee
4- Eagle Rare
Which shocked me mostly because I thought I really liked Eagle Rare and I wasn’t particularly impressed with Blanton’s. (FWIW Buffalo Trace and Blanton’s were a close call.)
Overall, it was a fun exercise. I see why people like blinds. It shakes up your universe
Blinds are so much fun when it doesn't go the way you think.
I was at the BT distillery today and told the tour guide I though Blanton's Original and Buffalo Trace are basically interchangeable. Not sure if he misspoke but he said BT is aged about 8 years (which would be roughly the same as Blanton's).
I think Eagle Rare has the most going on but it isn't the easiest sipper of the bunch.
ETL is a solid F
W12 is my favorite of the BT bottles I’ve tried. It’s so smooth. I can’t find it cheaper than $200 and that’s so messed up. I get stores need to make a profit but GD!
Nailed it.
WHERE'S DIS BOTTLE!?
I really like the energy of this video.
Love these videos. 107 is an A though!
I paid 80 each for 2 bottles of antique... major regret... actually many of my BT purchases are regretable...
It happens to almost everyone at some point
All is could see was Dan’s helium head looking like it was floating in mid-air. Pro tip, don’t wear camo coats, we can’t see you! 😬
LMAO!
lmao - this is EXACTLY how i feel about 12yr... im so happy i tasted it at a restaurant first lol. Luckily i got Weller FP, so i'll stick with it :D
Now to magically find a WLW lol
Been trying to magically find one for 5 years
@@BourbonJunkies I doubt I ever will. But I mean... we can dream 😜
In 2013 I won a van winkle lot B 12 year at a raffle at a bevmo liquor store. I haven’t opened it to this day.
2013-12 = barreled in 2001
Buffalo trace bought Van Winkle in 2002.
A)Do I have stitzel weller juice or no?
B)Sell it or drink it?
Not sure, drink it!!!
@@BourbonJunkies 😭 fine
Where would you guys put the rye? Assuming you have had it
Weller single barrel is D or F... I scored one recently for $50.. And its honestly not bad esp at that price, probably would pick makers 46 over just from taste alone. Its not worth the hunt, i scored a special reserve today so going to compare it to that at some point. I imagine a special reserve store pick single barrel has to be better
100% agree
Great video. Have yall tried sam houston 15. And if so is it as good as the 14.
It's good, it has way more cherry oak in it. We both compared it to WT master's keep 17 year BiB
@@BourbonJunkies thank you. I just bought it for 128.00 dollars. Cant wait to try it. The 14 year is amazing.
I use special reserve for my old fashioned drinks
Weller 12 would be a great daily drinker if it was on the shelf at $30-$40. As If!!!!!
Good video - i cant get special reserve or 107 for normal prices around here
Ohio and Texas are about the only place that get that
Must be nice to be able to acquire all those bottles
100% agree weller reserve and weller 12 is not good at all. Think never finish mine.
I don't know how often you look at comments but I wanted to let you know that the Weller blue label was at a liquor store in NY in the fancy case for..........$500... I LOL'd pretty hard at that but somewhere there will be someone who will pay that...
Quite often we look at them, and yea for some reason the full proofs are always mega marked up
Gotta agree, the Weller SB was so bad and Antique 107 is just below a Weller FP for me.
Special Reserve is $22 in Ohio June 22. And attainable. Nothing else on this list is available at the moment. Makes it a winner in my book 🤣🤣🤣
funny they mention the price on the wellers when discussing their place on the list but not with the Pappy's.
