    My doctors told me take botox for synkiness is it necessary to take or else ur stretching exercise will help me to cure it completely?😊

    • @ButheauPhysiotherapy
      @ButheauPhysiotherapy  2 месяца назад

      Facial rehab and botox are the conservative treatment for synkinesis. Botox will assist in decreasing activity of synkinetic muscles. Synkinesis is not 100% curable. IT can be greatly helped and decreased but since its origin is in nerve healing and rewiring, you cannot change that.

    Anyone else suffering from synkinesis- do you have stiffness on scalp, neck, shoulder...and the pain gets exaggerated after drinking coffee, being on the phone, or spouse nagging? i.e. stress? Just want to know if others have the same sensation and if it's normal.

    • @ButheauPhysiotherapy
      @ButheauPhysiotherapy  9 месяцев назад +1

      what you describe is not unusual. For exemple your platysma covers your neck, goes to shoulder and jaw...big area of potential stiffness/ tightness. Too much caffeine will tend to make face and affected muscles tighter. and definitely stress does.

    Hi. Your videos are so interesting. I have have facial palsy since April in 2022. And now I have Synkinesis. I am doing massages in my face but also exercises to improve the mouth movement. Do you think that I should continue with the facial exercises or just with the massages to improve the Synkinesis?

    • @ButheauPhysiotherapy
      @ButheauPhysiotherapy  Год назад +3

      If you have synkinesis, you are likely making things worse with the facial exercises. But you need help to figure out what to stretch and how to improve movement without reinforcing the synkinesis

    Doctor, I had a very delayed recovery from INFP or Facial Palsy after a major accident back in May 2023 in which I had a small hairline fracture on the left side of my skull. I saw no improvements for the first 5-6 months after the incident. But since September 2023, I started seeing major improvements till the current year i.e. 2024. However, the left eye of the side that had facial palsy is a bit bigger still and is kinda slow in blinking I do not know the exact .0 seconds or something but I can feel it. When someone carefully looks at me he can notice the asymmetrical eye of mine. It's not much but it's noticable at a focused glance. The eyebrow too is a bit lazy when raising or lowering. I also get tears when eating spicy food. Can you suggest me some exercises or stretching of the affected side of the eye? The ENT Doc has stopped any medications too.

      Yes, please look at videos on my channel on how to stretch eyelid. That is where I would start.

    Hello... I've been watching your videos, they are very helpful but I hopeless as I had bell's palsy when I was 10 years old and I am now 40. So 30 years synkinesis... Is there still hope for me?

    • @ButheauPhysiotherapy
      @ButheauPhysiotherapy  Год назад

      Hard for me to answer that question as I do not know your full medical history. What have you tried so far? And who have you worked with? Have you seen an otolaryngologist or have you seen a facial therapist and have you consult heard about possible surgical procedure?

    • @carmelrose6327
      @carmelrose6327 Год назад +2

      Yes... there is always hope. I have BP for 10 years and I just started watching this Doctor and with in a week I have noticed changes in my face. I feel like people with problems like us have been made to walk in the dark with no Hope. But now ww have hope with this wonderful and compassionate and intelligent Doctor. I wish you the best for your recovery.

      @@ButheauPhysiotherapy I was very young, I feel that it wasn't treated the way it should have been... I didn't know any better and I just lived with it. I did natural things like acupuncture facial massages and cupping when I got older and was more aware of it and how it affected my appearance, it started to affect me more mentally too. It really does knock my confidence. Ive spoken to Dr's here in the UK and they just brush it off and say there's nothing they can do and that im "not that bad" compared to others...
      When I laugh or smile hard, my left eye closes, my face looks crooked and my neck muscles pull. When i blink, the side of my mouth twitches and lifts up. My ear hurts me sometimes whenever I try to do facial exercises and the eye on the affected area, the vision is weaker than my other eye and doesnt fully shut when i go to sleep...tell me how is it not that bad? Lol
      Family and friends say they don't notice, but I just feel they are just used to me now because it's been so long and also, because they don't want to hurt my feelings.

      you need to work with a facial rehab specialist to have full face assessment and determine what to stretch and how to perform facial reeducation to minimize synkinesis. This is highly individualized care. There is not one exercise/stretch/techniques that work for everybody.

    Hey doctor, My face also feel stiff when I smile, what should I do? And my eyes twich also when I smile. My physiotherapist suggested me to take electric stimulation, should I continue? Help me please.. I recovered from bell's palsy, but this problems occurred.

    • @ButheauPhysiotherapy
      @ButheauPhysiotherapy  9 месяцев назад +1

      You might have synkinesis. "My face also feel stiff when I smile," this is not enough information for me to help you. All facial movement and possible synkinetic patterns need to be analyzed for facial therapy to be tailored to your exact problem. And you should definitely not use electrical stimulation as it might be contributing to the problem.
