In the taut thriller ALICE, DARLING, Oscar® nominee Anna Kendrick (Best Supporting Actress, Up in the Air, 2009) stars as a woman pushed to the breaking point by her psychologically abusive boyfriend, Simon. While on vacation with two close girlfriends, Alice rediscovers the essence of herself and gains some much-needed perspective. Slowly, she starts to fray the cords of codependency that bind her. But Simon’s vengeance is as inevitable as it is shattering - and, once unleashed, it tests Alice’s strength, her courage, and the bonds of her deep-rooted friendships.
Lionsgate presents, a Babe Nation Films / Elevation Pictures production, produced with the participation of Ontario Creates, in association with Castelletto Films.

Those words I remember coming from my ex abusive boyfriend that I had, when I was 25. It was terrible. I had to see a psychologist, to help me get out of that relationship. Thank God I did. He told me those exact words. He knew how to hurt me. But as I grew stronger, I could learn how not to listen to his attacks. He tried to damage me in the worst ways possible. When he forced me to sleep with him, when I didn't want him to touch me, I knew I had to get out of there inmediately. I was the one who left him, despite of everything he said to me, he even thread my dogs, my family, everyone I love. Leaving him was hard for me. I remember waking up terrified and crying, from my nightmares, because he was there. I can talk about these things now, thank god that's all in the past. I hope nobody has to go through what I Lived. And If it happens to another woman, know for sure that you can always get out of those relationships, get help from your family, friends and a therapist if you need one too.

It really does show the anxiety of being in an abusive relationship. How they control, take away friendships and family, and how feeling like leaving is impossible. This is going to be such a good film. I am happy that I am at a place and point in my life, where I can watch this and not be to triggered by it. I hope no one else is triggered by this as well. 🙏🏼🫶🏼 Abuse takes a lifetime of unlearning and of healing. 💗💗

I got out by the grace of God. As many have said many don't usually get out of a relationship like this. I was fortunate enough to have remarried a truly wonderful man and today is our 32nd wedding Anniversary. I did not get out unscathed. Was definitely damaged goods and had a baby girl. There is light at the end of the tunnel for anyone trying to get out. If it's safe please get a plan in place and leave. There is nothing like getting your life back and experiencing freedom. This is going to be so triggering for countless women who have had a relationship like this and found their way out. They really portray the mind games of it all so well. Including how your own mind will turn on you and make you crazy because the person telling you they love you more than anything and they are all you have is simultaneously destroying you. I will say that every woman in this situation MUST have strong friends, family, etc., to be there for her no matter what. No yelling at her how this is crazy, and she is blind, etc. Stable support and help to get a way out. Even if it takes 500 tries. One of the 500 can save her life and give her a chance against permanent CPTSD.

I am a man, and this ALSO TRIGGARING to ME, Because as the other commenter politely corrected before, "People" instead of just men or women is accurte as victims are not a gender? Its a title one gets when something horrible happens THEY DIDNT WANT. It IS silencing us when you say because it's from a woman character in a movie that now men whom have suffered abuse have no say or should not be included in the support and awareness to victims of sexual abuse, when THEY ARE victims as well. And many have experienced the SAME THING. But they are men. Abuse is sadly genderless. Just so you know.

I m very glad they finally broke up, but i think she was the one who got bored. So now he is back in our lives and even bought a house next to ours. And the funniest thing he told me why nobody warned me that she was controlling and abusive and took advantage of me. So obviously something happens with those people’s brains like they stop working. @@Rriuiu Just because the main character is a woman doesn't mean it's just about women. It's actually just about the dangers of being in a very toxic, abusive, relationship with someone who is a complete narcissist that tricks you into believing that is what love is and if you're not careful you can wind up trapped in it or even worse dead.
Just because you are trying to make it all about women doesn't make it so and you should try and be more understanding and considerate about everyone's feelings and the full weight of the concept of this movie. Like it or not, there are just as many men (gay or straight, myself included as a gay male) that experience this exact same nightmare and abuse every single day. I think that the fact that it isn't talked about as nearly as much as needed and is almost always portrayed as a woman going through this, makes it even harder for guys like myself to speak up about what is happening. Makes us feel more ashamed and embarrassed because the thought of a man who is supposed to be the tough one, going through this almost sounds ridiculous but it's far from it. I am so grateful that I was finally able to escape my unbelievably awful, toxic, insanely abusive relationship. My ex was a real narcissist, psychopath and so good at it that by the end of it all I was willing to do anything to keep him and the abuse around because I believed I deserved it. I actually told him, it was OK if he cheated on me as long as he wrapped up and made sure to come back home to me. Just admitting that right now makes me hate myself that much more sigh. I cried daily almost all the time, tried to kill myself every chance I got because I loved that piece of crap with everything I had and gave 10 years of my life to him only to find out, he came into the relationship creating, wasn't a day he had been faithful. Slept with more guys in those 10 years then my brain can even comprehend, still till this day (including my little brother, all my "friends", my old boss and anyone I thought was close to me). Made nice little homemade videos too, in my own bed at that for me to find one day. By then, he had me so wound up in his narcissistic web of bullshit and lies that I couldn't bare the thought of life without him. It actually made me feel like my heart was truly breaking and was so unbearable I tried to kill myself many more times. It's been 4 years since we ended and when I tell you, I still am dealing with depression and anxiety and days where I just break down and cry because of him it's so unreal. I honestly don't think I'll ever be myself again and that alone kills me. The fact that I allowed someone like that into my life and then allowed all that abuse and pain just hurts me to the core because I was always so strong. I tell you all of this because just as much as this hits home to women and is so many of your worst nightmares, there are so many men like myself feeling the same way. This trailer was a major trigger and I pray I can get to a point where things like this don't affect me the way this did. I congratulate all you women that have gone through this and finally made it to where this doesn't bother you. God how freaking amazing that must feel. It truly gives me hope to know that feeling is achievable and things will get better with time. I'm so sorry anyone has to go through this complete nightmare and hell because the damage it does is deadly and brings lifelong scars. So please just know that the concept of this movie is so real and relevant to all of us. Thanks

My wife and I divorced 7 years ago but it was done amicably and respectfully. She and I just drifted apart the final couple years of the 16 we were together and was just more sad than anything else. We had some wonderful years and times together and although divorce is a very difficult thing couples can do it respectfully and be on good terms afterwards. Very much looking forward to seeing this; Anna Kendrick is such a great up and coming actress........

This is what I’m talking about! Despite being a great actress she’s gotten no serious award attention since her breakout in Up In the Air (one of my favorites, watch it if you haven’t), so hopefully this movie changes that! I'm fond of the movie where she played an irresponsible sister sleeping in her married brothers basement. Anna has a diverse body of works all adding to make her the standout actress she is . She don't need my help or yours to get where she wants to be. Surprise. Oscar is not everybody's end game.

I am simultaneously so glad and so terrified of this movie. Relationships like this NEED exposure. Period. AND... I can just hear my narcissistic ex telling everyone that this was his experience with me... except he will skew it. And tecnically he won't be wrong. Yes, i screamed and cried .... cause he didnt talk to me for two weeks after i got a job i loved that he was jealous of, but manipulated it so i felt i couldn't go out or talk to anyone else either. Yes, i threw a glass against the wall... after he told me he wasnt moving in with me but was moving back to his hometown with his friends after i signed a lease and paid deposits. Yes, I said I wanted to die ...when he broke up with me (one of our many break ups) after i took a month off work and helped him recover from a major surgery. Yes, i snooped through his phone (barely lol)... cause I was desperately confused, knew he wasnt and wouldn't tell me the truth, was on the verge of breaking, and needed some answers, some clarity. Just remember... when someone is saying "oh how horrible was my ex, thank god theyre gone..." that there's always more sides to that story. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

I felt the pain she was going through. Why are some men like this to women? I just don't get it. I was with someone for a year and a half who had been with a psychologically abusive narcissist and was still battling for custody of her daughter..it was the most tormenting experience for her and I often felt helpless. In the end the trauma was too much for my own emotions to cope with. I hope she's okay..I think about her a lot and wished I knew how to cope with it better, but sometimes the scars are just too deep.. ❤

Abuse doesn't have to be physical. My mother was in a marriage like this once. It's brutal how she was the one working, raising her kids, juggling a million things while my father made her believe that she is lucky to be with someone like my father. He thought he was handsome, of royal decent (no less than 1/20 actually), had a respected father, etc. Even call himself "the king of the house" Truthfully, my father was just an unemployed, daydreaming loser. He wouldn't let my mother meet her friends, calling her slut for working hard to feed her children because he won't help her, downplayed her feelings, constantly calling and texting her to get report of her whereabout and activity, calling her work, even suspecting she had an affair with her cardiologist when she only meet him once every 6 months for a check up at the hospital.
