tiberiius Oh he didn't say anything in particular, people in the comments just tend to get their knickers in a twist over him going "hah," "mmhmm," "that's right," etc. in the background. Thoroughly non-offensive stuff but also arguably not adding to the show. I don't particularly mind either way tbh.
Is anyone familiar with a guy named Paul Shaffer? Having a dynamic bandleader who has chemistry with the host and is also talented enough to add to a guest is invaluable.
My mom saw me watching this and she went "Isn't that girl from Twilight?" My brain literally lagged for a good minute before remembering the horror. How did someone as talented as her end up as a side piece in a movie adaptation of a low grade YA novel. But man, she has such an amazing personality.
+ARIC TING Theory: Anna probably would have had the Kristin Stewart role but she wasn't willing to sleep with people in that franchise. She gets hired for her true talent and attitude. I feel like she and Emma Watson need to hang out and be amazing. Just saying
+Jesse Are you suggesting that Kristen Stewart, who was underage at the time, slept with one of the casting directors (both women and at least twice her age) to score a part in (what was at the time) a relatively small budget film? Yeah, right. I like Anna Kendrick, too, but there's no need to bring down Kristen Stewart to make your point. She screwed up a few years back, sure, but she's still a damn fine actress. The woman even won a damn César, I think we can safely say she gets her parts purely because of her talent.
Not really just a theory based on the business. And alluding to her cheating with a married man in the past while filming. Just that I don't think Anna would do something like that hypothetically.
+Outamyhead Calm down. What are you? 12? They are just playing a skit. I was a big Colbert fan but he is making a big fool of himself in a desperate attempt to get ratings.

Melissa Ngai they can't. John Oliver can't, Jon Stewart couldn't, Letterman and Leno certainly couldn't, Fallon can IMPERSONATE a few singers... really Colbert is the only one who can actually do it.
"Pippin didn't do anything" I am so disappointed in you Stephen, it was Pippin's idea to guide Treebeard to the area of Fangorn that had been cut down by Saruman, leading to the last march of the ents and the fall of Isengard. NOT TO MENTION he was instrumental in saving the life of Faramir from his insane father.
Suddenly I don't feel so bad about pausing and saying "Hey, wait a minute Stephen..." when it came to Lord of the Rings. Though I'll admit he could likely... well, not school me, but it would be a spirited match. :P

tatsuo71 I'm not surprised look at her!
She has more talent in her little finger, than the entire Twilight cast...
thedys70 but.... shes part of the twillighr cast... so is she more talented than... herself?
Lol; perhaps I should have stated "the REST of the entire Twilight cast..."
thedys70 haha okay. I do like some of the cats but I feel like anna's talent is kind of underrated. She's quite modest about her talents. She's overall just awesome
She is the hottest geek on the planet.
Dude... Yes
Aw, how sweet. Steven Colbert sings like a dad.
Anna Kendrick singing voice is so beautiful 🥰
I love how you could see Anna's nervousness drop away when she was singing, and you could see her heart, soul, and true self just shining through her eyes
Whatever folks say about Jon's comments during the show, there's no denying he's a top class musician.
+Dima Vasilev what did he say?
tiberiius Oh he didn't say anything in particular, people in the comments just tend to get their knickers in a twist over him going "hah," "mmhmm," "that's right," etc. in the background. Thoroughly non-offensive stuff but also arguably not adding to the show. I don't particularly mind either way tbh.
okay thanks, i didn't catch him saying much or anything. he seems like a great musician and a good guy.
+Dima Vasilev I didn't mind it at first, but it gets annoying. Though he seems like a great guy, and damn can he play.
Is anyone familiar with a guy named Paul Shaffer? Having a dynamic bandleader who has chemistry with the host and is also talented enough to add to a guest is invaluable.
Their singing duet together is wonderful, thank you!
My mom saw me watching this and she went "Isn't that girl from Twilight?" My brain literally lagged for a good minute before remembering the horror. How did someone as talented as her end up as a side piece in a movie adaptation of a low grade YA novel. But man, she has such an amazing personality.
Everyone has to start somewhere
Jesse I really need a movie with Anna Kendrick and Emma Watson now
Anna Kendrick definitely has that nerd beauty. 💕 Love her.
7:22 because I will forever come back to watch them singing 🥺
Mrs Colbert gets the bed to herself again tonight!
lol
+da96103 Strike three, he's out...Of the bed.
+Outamyhead you actually made me think something happened again.
+clue104 Well there was Helen Mirren, Sally Fields, and now Anna Kendrick...Might not have been a kiss, but you can see the chemistry.
+Outamyhead Calm down. What are you? 12? They are just playing a skit. I was a big Colbert fan but he is making a big fool of himself in a desperate attempt to get ratings.
Yay! Another Anna who loves Lord of the Rings!
eyyy
I'm a hANNAh does that count lol
Gladiator in a Suit Close enough! lol
Ayyyy!
I mean h is silent in French so
AS A HUGE ANNA KENDRICK FAN its so good to hear her sing again, PITCH PERFECT 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anna Kendrick is such a professional. She starts singing and jumps straight into that character voice.
They both have wonderful voices and well paired together; thank you for that Anna and Stephen. That was like a trip in a time machine back to the middle of last century!
WHY DOES EVERY LATE NIGHT SHOW HOST HAPPEN TO BE ABLE TO SING? MAKES ME FEEL EVEN MORE UNTALENTED HAHA
Melissa Ngai they can't. John Oliver can't, Jon Stewart couldn't, Letterman and Leno certainly couldn't, Fallon can IMPERSONATE a few singers... really Colbert is the only one who can actually do it.
I guess that it is a part of their education; I know a lot of actors learn a bit of singing as voice training..
What about James Corden?
@@MatsThyWit James Corden has a tony
isn’t it just james corden and colbert?
pause at 7:53 the greatest smile in the history of man kind
Dude she's 30, she could pass for 22 what the hell!!!
Good genes & avoids sunlight. Probably good diet too.
when they started talking about Stephen Sondheim... and just read that he passed. Awwww. Rest in
Peace a musical legend.
Her voice is so beautiful i literally teared up ♥️
"Pippin didn't do anything" I am so disappointed in you Stephen, it was Pippin's idea to guide Treebeard to the area of Fangorn that had been cut down by Saruman, leading to the last march of the ents and the fall of Isengard.
ezzerby LOTR4LYFE. U r so right. Pip is my 3rd fav character in the series, both books and movies.
WoW, so many people who don’t realize that was a Joke...
He’s about the books over the movie does that hold up in the books?
He also killed the general of the trolls in the final battle, admittedly he fell on pip right after but he still got em
I bet inside Stephen was thinking, "You've only watched the movies! You are no Tolkien nerd!"
definitely!!
+BattyDana totally. appalling. jk (kind of serious tho)
+BattyDana she has read them, i'm sure
I bet Stephen is less of a dick than that and is happy that someone else also enjoys the magic that is LotR in any form.
+BattyDana Or, maybe he is happy that she has found her way to the franchise and it doesn't matter how you get there, it's what you do once you get swept up in the story. She saw the movies first, so what?
Mad crushing on Anna Kendrick now.
I still can't believe that I once thought Anna was just some side character from the Twilight movies. Had no idea just how super talented she was until I saw her on stage singing with Kristin Chenoweth and hanging with her note for note.
She is so classic and witty. I love it. And all you boys commenting your disgusting thoughts about her shame on you. She is where she is because of her effort, hard work and nobody gives a damn what you think about her body.
wow, they have really great voices, especially together.
Holy shit, she can sing
ANGRYmuffin9000 you didn't know that?!?!?!?
That's what shes all about :D
Did you not hear them talking about her starting on Broadway when she was 12?
*no dip sherlock*
Watch the cup song
Tina Fey + Anna Kendrick = Mother/Daughter fantasy
Come on vivid make it happen
Jamie Ambrosius YESSSSSSS
You can tell she is a genuine person, so sweet and the talent is off the charts!! Love her!!!
“Oh, ok I lost everybody.”
I’m here, Anna. I’m with ya.
