This trailer feels like what a wealthy person from California thinks a regular person from literally anywhere in america is like.
NGL lie tho - there is a shitton of people with these types of stories in LA and SF. I've lived in both places. This isnt far off.
Basically Nicola
Like Ladybird
😂 right
Literally showed us the entire movie
A self-indulgent trailer is usually not a good sign, especially for a directorial debut.
Quit misusing the word literally.
Not literally
why do ppl use the word literally out of context soooo much now a days??? sooo weird
@esk8unity These are the same people who irreverently, sloppily use important words with very serious specific meanings as dirty pejoratives when locking horns with people whose politics they assume they both understand AND disagree with. It happened just before the Orange Man got into power and suddenly everybody was a fascist and phobic and everything else. Infuriating and disgraceful. Have these people actually seen how big a dictionary is, how many words are at their disposal if they just familiarised themselves with the old family thesaurus?! You can't call someone you dislike a Nazi, I mean jeeeeeesus christ.
this looks and feels like a movie coming str8 out of tiktok
yup. i think thats the maddison rae. dance for us!
🤣🤣🤣
YESS it does... omg.
Nicola Peltz is Jewish. Maybe she should've made this movie about a Hassidic girl. Strange how we never see movies like that...She passes because her mom is German-American.
Wow..... We, as Humans, have such a Capacity, to appreciate others...
It is just... breath-taking!!!
Till we do something ourselves, we will never know, what one puts into, when one is working on something...
"If possible, say good. If you cannot say good, then try to not say anything at all. You or your Word(s) will not lose Value."
This is one of these trailers where you don't have to see the movie no more
Look at it this way, if they're showing this much, then imagine what they didn't show.
Wasn't gonna see it anyways lol
I don't even understand the plot ?
@Ganbarizer more trans cringe probably
I feel like the majority of women nowadays are messed up because some mothers did messed up stuff in their past and they don’t lecture their daughters to not do what they did or have that heart to heart conversation. They take their anger out on their daughters when their daughters try to even enjoy life and that’s very toxic.
The irony of her playing this role. I swear.
She wrote and directed the movie also.
What's ironic about it? Something about her own life?
@DamienHurts Shes a nepo baby who never held a job in her life and used push her nannies off the stairs
so billionaires can't do movies?@andreanunez3750
@andreanunez3750 Does OP expect the cast director to find an actual deadbeat stripper whp made it out to lead? 🙄. Call it a project of empathy for her.
Some film trailers really be exposing the plot-twists left and right. Sometimes you can even guess how the film would end even from the trailer.
How does it end?
@TheTexasSkeptic The mother realises the error of her ways and redeems herself by letting the kids be trans/gay or whatever.
@Cyba_IT lmao of course
And yet, her mug is so perfect, she looks like she’s heading to a gala the whole trailer
well this screams "my billionaire daddy bought me a movie so I can imagine what it's like to be working class"
And your comment screams "I'm jealous that I don't have a billionaire daddy." Also what are the kids of rich people realistically supposed to do? Are they not allowed to have careers or goals just because they're from a rich family? Making movies is way better than her just sitting around and doing nothing with her life.
@Naaaee777 Ehh, having a billionaire daddy almost guaruntees he's a pos. You know what'd be refreshing? If once, just once someone in her position with her money and platform did something about poverty as opposed to making a vanity project about it. It's nice you're coming from a compassionate place but maybe extend that to the op in a climate when most of us are sick of all the bullshit. Celebrity, narcissim, phoniness, inequality, etc!
Assuming all criticism comes from jealousy is childish 💀
@binaryvoid0101 Often so as well as lazy and redundant.
SERIOUSLY!
I feel like this is the definition of not your story to tell
Oof, burn
? Are u serious? The guy who made parasite was born rich lmao
@rosie6 okay so add him to the list too.
Happy?
It’s been took from a girl I’m dating name Lola
Did someone on tik tok tell you to have this opinion?
All directors have money. Otherwise how are they going to finance a film and get it released in theaters. Do you want movies about poverty/struggle to end? Only movies/stories about the upper class are allowed now?
It's interesting how no one has this complain about other movies surrounding low income people, but maybe it's because those movies were made by men and older women
Gimme me a break. This is a vanity project only.
100%
They must've told her that she will get a nomination by doing this genre
Nepos love to cosplay poverty 💀
Is it any good
People so bitter because she is privileged. Why do humans find it hard to be happy for the happiness of others? No wonder ya’ll trapped in a “oh poor me” life situation. 🙄 she’s money, but she’s obviously more than just that.
glad people in the comments are calling out this hypocrisy
Can't even be poor any more, the rich go and be that instead of us now.
Great comment. They going to make "poor" trendy and stylish
It’s not that deep
Best comment! X
If you live in a house and had Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and/or Disney Channel growing up, you weren't poor. Real ones live in an apartment and grew up with PBS.
😂❤ right
Sometimes love just isn't enough. I grew up in a similar manner and chose not to have kids. No matter how much I would have loved them, I couldn't keep from passing on what I know of as love to them. I wish people would give more thought to having kids before they take that leap.
just adopt at 50. not that serious.
In states with outdated abortion laws, some people don't have the choice. Sad. USA is fucked in that regard.
this one hurts people all have their traumas abnd things that they have doesnt mean they shouldnt have kids, they dot know better they just have too breajk the gernerational pain the
Repent Today Don't Wait for Tomorrow by Sensus Fidelium.
90% of people don't plan to have kids. You probably weren't planned either. So its out of their hands. But as soon as the child is born you with all your flaws is all they have for now. You can't change or cover urself up. That is now going to be ur child's first exposure. As adults we look back and actually realize that shit makes us wiser and strong. My parents flaws and mistakes when i look back was their life and where they came from. Today I'm a new mother (planned) and who and whatever i am will be my baby's exposure. For now its all he has. If anything i wana be me more. Messed up me. Crazy me. And just accepting who i am me. My flaws dont break me. But then again. Once you know the 'secret to life' the world kinda becomes light. Like nothing is heavy. Your parents. Your parenting. Your job. Your marraige. It all becomes light. God is the my secret
hmmm wish my parents could buy me a career too but i live in the real world
hahaha right?? lol i wouldn't even consider this an indie movie like some sites consider it
her husband's daddy bought him a photography and chef career which both suck but it's quite entertaining seeing these nepo babies maneuver through this world.
Work...just work and earn you own fucking money and stop vomiting on rich people...jealousy don't buy anything but money does
Sucks to be you then
Why don't you buy yourself a career?
i feel like this is the aesthetic every rich white girl based their personality and the worst is if they are nepo babies, they will write, direct and star on movies about this type of struggle
100%
Agreed
what is your point
It's called "acting".
I didn't know she was a rich celeb
Now I get it the beckams were stuck on her to marry their son
Ugh this is tough, because it looks like it has the makings of a great story, but if Nicola really wants to be a respected "filmmaker", she should have stuck to directing and given the lead role to someone that can bring authenticity to role. Otherwise, it's hard to look past this as anything more of a vanity project in order to become a reputable and even more famous actress that just steals and takes advantage of the story of so many that are not lucky enough to be born into extreme wealth. She picked the wrong project.
Thank you, I'm going to piggy back off this comment. I do not know who she is at all (but now I'm going to look her up) and yet in watching the trailer, I could absolutely feel that this girl playing this character could have no understanding of what that life would feel like...at all. It just didn't resonate. All I felt was very pretty and privileged person vibes. Not in a bad way,....but you just can't fake the funk.
She can't help that she was born into money she deserves to pursue her dreams like anybody else
What would have been really cool is if she had done an independent film about opulence and growing up as a good person with all the privilege and power to be terrible person and get away with. She should write about what goes on in Billionaires row, and all the messed things that happens in her demographic. Thats not allowed though so its easier to exploit poor people's issues that she has no relations.
She comes off as a very very vain woman. She can't act to save her life, and she knows it so she uses her looks. It's gross. But if this makes her feel relevant, then more power to her. But it's going to be a very lonely slide down to the bottom of the box office list. I hope this is a pet project for her, kind of like a science experiment. Because none of this from the writing, to the directing, to the production to the acting is by her own merit. I agree that she should have chosen a different actress to play the role. Someone more down to earth. But again, she is a pick me, look at me girl.
This 💕
she still looks rich even while playing poor😭😭😭😭
Yes! I thought the same thing, its like she doesn't fit there
it's the surgery, I get that she wanted to star in it and it is her film, but she doesn't fit the part of a 19 year old struggling with poverty, she looks like a 30 year old rich woman, which she is@bettyanderson5292
yes also her face is not moving even though she is like 20 y.o
She's wearing full face of make up in every situation 😂
it's the perfect nose job and other corrections that make it look like that. no poor person can afford to look like that and it's also not a natural look.
Love when a billionaire nepo baby gets a passion project bankrolled where she gets to act like she knows anything about what it's like to be poor and in a rough family situation, but obviously gets to look super-hot doing it! No hate for the girlie, it's just very classique and a little bit boring xoxo
100%
Totally! For once, can't they look like utter shit (aka realistic for when your life is falling apart) and not glamorize being poor? Although this way she gets to live out a pauper fantasy of struggle, all while smoking like a "cool" girl, having perfect makeup, and twerking out the car like a "silly quirky sexy raunchy poor girl" LOL. She should watch a film like sometimes maybe always or the florida project for better depictions. Ugh
Female writer directors get trashed no matter what kind of work they make. If they make something that is representative of their own lives (like Lena Dunham became famous for doing - her first film was literally shot in her family's real apartment and starred her real family members as actors) they get trashed for that too. You can't win. Any of us who has actually put in the work to try to create something knows how much goes into it and it's not a matter of simply "cosplaying" as some of these comments are stating.
So what? She's lucky and you're not... get over it
Please shut up xoxo
This trailer just showed the whole movie. Why these movies trailers like that now?
because these trailers are for certain audience. Audience that so stupid they need exactly what this movie is about.
but we dont know the ending!
@PresenceofthePhoenix Don't we though? Haven't watched it but I fully believe she gets her and her brother out of their bad situation, has her baby, and lives happily ever after.
@Jorie921 Close. Her brother kicks the bucket after running away and getting hit by a car.
LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!!
Billionaires cosplaying as povvos is my favorite genre!
Acting. Thats what actors do
10 years after Bates Motel, she still playing a teenager😂
I don’t think she’s playing a teenager, maybe early-mid 20’s
@Winskl9010 they said she's 19
is that oxygen can lady?!
@hardtymz2517 no that's Olivia cooke, she's currently in House of the dragon
Ofc riverdale, all American, euphoria etc. If you look young regardless of your age you get casted in young roles lol
She can't even direct her facial muscles and now she direct the entire moviecrew and actors😂 apoclypse
A daughter of a billionaire writing, directing, and starring in a film about poor people. No wonder it feels so inauthentic.
Would you have made the same claim if you hadn't known her history?
@marlonmoncrieffe0728 yes, because the acting & writing speak for themselves. I knew nothing about her or the film prior to watching it, and it was insufferably bad. The way they chose to deal with topics such as sexual assault so irresponsibly. It's honestly horrid to watch.
Then it was a lousy movie but that has nothing to do with the filmmakers' upbringing and more their lack of research or talent, @auroratafuto7407 .
I think this trailer just showed the whole film...
Maybe she was inspired to make a movie after seeing Sean Baker's movies like The Florida Project 😂
my first thought as well
I thought to myself “she must love the movie ‘The Florida Project’ 😂 I live in Orlando and it helped me understand my maternal cousins as mothers. I’ve always had sympathy for them but it expanded after watching. I could’ve grown up to be just like them had my mother not married into my dad’s wealthy family. Not sure why I wrote this 😂 but def looking forward to seeing Nicola cosplay what she thinks of as a normal person!!
You're right, but I think it's probably more cynical than that
The Florida Project was my thought, as well! I am also from Orlando, Florida. 🖤
I made it ten seconds in before vomiting all over my keyboard..
😂
The opening line in this trailer:
"I am the person I am today, because of the people that helped me, and the people that hurt me".
Aren't we all?
Peace
Thanks seen the whole movie now
haha yay
This looks like a student film. A high school student.
Especially when shots of her character seem more interested in featuring her looks than her emotions. Like girl, you're supposed to be impoverished, not posing for a fashion editorial on poverty💀
broke and mad
this actress looks like she's never struggled a day in her life
She hasn', look her up.
One thing is for sure, she definitely wrote the dialogue…
Bro, She is director of this movie. Don you know?
@soesan2963it's a joke.
Ps guys she didn't credit her co-director.
go figure...but then again I never heard of co-directors.
@jms5752
The Matrix
Avengers: Endgame
City of God
Blair Witch Project
Dumb and Dumber
There are 5, very successful, very different from each other movies, all co-directed.
Every shot her makeup is perfect. Exactly like a poor person.
The makeup in my opinion is too heavy and not natural looking
right! i think of girl interrupted whenever someone brings up how unconvincing lola was especially when it came to appearances. the reason why angelina jolie worked as lisa rowe was because she was willing to look like a "mess"- dead bleach blonde hair, dark circles, dull skin and eyes, etc. on-point makeup and lola pouting for the camera in every other scene makes it feel so unsubstantial and just not real at all.
Exactly. So totally off
it's so interesting how the trailer shows only her favorite angle of her face
was literally looking for this comment
There are multiple movies called "Lola", so it took a while to find this one. This is the 2024 one.
This looks rough.....just string together 10 surface level "poor people" struggles add hot blonde with attitude and a black best girlfriend who cosigns her and BLAM what a great film.
You forgot the queer brother and religious mom trope.
I think they could have fit NICOLA PELTZ BECKHAM at least another 3 times on the credit frame. The current 3 occurrences is simply not enough to get the point across.
wtf is that?! terrible name also, hood shame on her parent for that one.
She looks like a walking instagram filter
I just came into the comments to ask if a filter is being used on her face because it looks like that's the case...
@haute03she naturally looks like that she looked the same way in bates motel
I like the aesthetic of it and all. I just wish she would’ve let someone else play that role
I mean she wrote the story, I feel like she purposfully wrote the part for herself, I would do the same thing
@aponimorpho do you mean she was poor in real life?
@jms5752 no, I said that she wrote a part FOR herself,
NOT inspired by herself
A lot of actors who write and direct do the same thing, just like Fleabag and Chewing gum, People can't separate actors from their roles
eminem.
Yeah
The trailer is better than the movie.
You pretty much just watched the entire movie via the trailer
Wait....I'm confused. Is this film eligible for the 2024 Razzie awards or will we have to wait until 2025 to see Nicola break all kinds of Razzie records? This movie finished shooting in April of 2021....it took Daddy so much money and so long to fix it.....but it will still win all the razzies Nicola! You are so special! LMAO
Hahahah yessss I hope so! I wanna see her break razzie records! Hahaha
Is there a Razzie award for "Movie Bankrolled by Daddy " because this will surely win 2024!
If the lead was literally anyone but Nicola, I would have maybe given this movie a chance
I really don't know why she thought this movie was a good idea
Is this the cosplay movie?
"Show business kids making movies of themselves"
Why do they always portray poor people with dark eye make up and bad dye jobs and unkempt hair? Most poor people don't dye their hair at all.
We were so poor my mother couldn't afford to. Seriously.
Poor people don't want to look poor. They make every effort to look well- groomed. Plenty of poor people are good looking and wear good clothes, while many financially well-off people look unkempt because they've got nothing to prove.
Honestly thought that was her sister halfway through the trailer
We'll always be together, together in Electric Dreams.
i feel like i just saw the entire movie already
her face is always the same exact angle from the camera why
Just enjoy the trailer it’s beautiful
Had NO CLUE that was Virginia Madsen until her name appeared!
pretty woman in pain? sign me tf out
Entire movie in this trailer. Why bother..
kinda gives me 2000s vibes which i love
what does someone like Nicola, the daughter of a billionaire, privileged since birth, know about a life like that? I will watch it but I just wonder...
It's almost seems a bit like cosplaying poverty for fun. And getting a salary from it
It's called acting. If everyone that acts in a movie had to live a life like their character, there wouldn't be any movies. Actors play all kinds of parts that they've never lived. How could there ever be any sci fi if only real aliens had to be cast?
So make your own fucking movie. You don’t have to be something to create a fictionalized version of things or make art. What an asinine question.
This might surprise you, but most movies are fictional.
People will say it's fiction, it's acting, but your critique is valid. Similar with Emerald Fennell's film Saltburn that came out in 2023. These stories only get made with money, and it's fascinating to me when the stories are usually 'cosplaying' wealth and class struggles that people in their position of privilege could NEVER understand. Nicola Peltz is not some regular industry nepo baby, she is literally the daughter of an octogenarian billionaire and his model wife. She would have to do some insane research and empathy to create a valuable story like this when you imagine what her childhood must have been like.
Again, we haven't seen the movie, but it's the valid critique on the state of how movies are able to get made, what stories get told, and who has the privilege to tell them.
LOL
she wrote this and acted in it so she can experience being a poor person
Welp I've seen the whole movie now haha
What kind of a trailer that’s 2.5 minute long 😂
THAT'S Virginia Madsen!? Time flies!
So...I'm a little apprehensive. I don't believe that writers necesarily have to write about/can only write well about subject matter related to their experiences or life, but Nicola Peltz's father is a freakin billionare, like she did not grow up in a financially unstable or broken family whatsoever. She comes from the richest of the rich, a world of socialites and Wall Street. I don't believe she, in the slightest, can ever fathom what it means to grow up in the America that she is trying to portray. I think this is gonna end up being more fetishistic/make being poor into an aesthetic then like, good.
💯
A lot of people thought it was good so 🤷♀️
Looks good. Hope to see it. Takes guts to make a movie like this.
Instagram face does not look good on the big screen lol
This perfect for happy people who want to spend a few hours getting really depressed!!!
this gets funding but Kristen Stewart’s movie doesn’t get funding????
This is nepotism funding though
her dad is a billionaire
Kristen Stewart doesn't have a billionaire father who needs a tax write-off.
Hey, it's got Virginia Madsen in it.... I'M IN!
im excited to see it! the aesthetic is amazing the emotions you get from this are so good. the storyline, cinematography, and Wardrobe are incredible.
U for real?
@merah989 yeah i am exited for it one of the directors is bria vinaite from the florida project and the production design is so good
@Dee-um3qtoh shit, now that you mention it that is completely her style. Wild how I almost missed the director lol, she’s freaking amazing- Florida Project killed me.
Literally it looks really intriguing! More movies like this pls
@merah989yep.. looks really good to me too.. but I had a effd up life with a little brother and a crap mum.. so I can kinda relate
I feel like I just saw the whole movie
Did her nose job fight back & kill the plastic surgeon during the procedure? Sheesh!
I've got to watch this. Life can be sad. 😢❤ It can also be wonderful.
This looks great. Very surprised to see that Nicola wrote directed and stars in this and actually looks like a well made project. Will definitely watch this.
oh course it was well made. her dad is a billionaire who funded the entire thing. It's backed by extraordinary people purely because she had the money and connections to get them.
@Myrtle5834 true... but she is talented. a pretty decent actress id say... and from this trailer - looks like this is going to be solid performance from her (probably her best). i am just wondering if she really wrote it tho?? directed it also..ha. Or if she had a ghost-writer/director...
Why we really need billionaires cosplaying poverty and laughing at us?
@codyferrell1031we don’t need billionaires cosplaying poverty and laughing at us. Don’t even give them the attention they crave.
@Arginne it’s called acting
I'm like 110% sure this will make me cry from beginning to end.
Trailer got me
Nicola's acting does that to people
Well you will if they chained you to the chair and put a matches to your eyes forcing you to watch this to the end.
If I dont get to see her boobies, I'm definitely gonna cry
So a daughter of a billionaire wrote AND directed a movie about a broke American woman trying hard to get by and then she stars herself to play that character. I hate rich people
could this film be a television series
i just wish it wasnt the tiktok song
the first line was heavy factssss
As a British person, I cannot wait to see this
sat up straight and gasped when i saw this was written and directed by her
why? if you have endless money you can literally fly to the moon silly
The trailer said way too much of the plot lmao
There are many actors born rich and they act great My only problem her smokey makup on eyes in every scene
Just team Selena here to support her friend
I'll watch it.I can tell this project is personal for her & regardless, I'm sure she's proud of it.
Personal? 😂😂😂
Hopefully, the trailer didn't spoil the post credits scene.
this just gave me goosebumps, she looks gorgeous
She's really beautiful
what does this have to do with the movie??? You are so ridiculous.
@jms5752 uh okay lol
She totally looks plastic surgery.
She really likes being photographed on her left side.
Nothing seems to get rich people richer like cos playing poor people 😅 oh how they love to do that. Good for her for trying to make something though, just quite sick of seeing “poverty po*n” made by wealthy people. Feels really low vibe and exploitative.
Very good movie!
Cinematography is so beautiful but doesn't make the movie look less shit
Quando sai no Brasil ?
Maybe drop the Beckham name for credibility
She is one of the most beautiful human beings out there
The music does NOTHING but make this more comical.
😂😂😂
bring it to brazil, prime video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SOO ready for this looks epic ❤❤
I wanna watch! Excellent ❤
It’s literally a movie about how rich people think where the poor people come from
i thought it was gonna be a vertical trailer as in literally positioned not horizontal
