"Alice, Darling" is such an incredible film. I love those women. Many of us have been in an abusive relationship. In my example, it was a woman. No one should ever allow anyone to abuse them as Alice's boyfriend abused her. Emotional abuse is still very much physical abuse. Everyone should see this film. Anna Kendrick was brilliant, as were the two women who portrayed her friends. Her directorial debut of "Woman of the Hour" is equally brilliant.
I was in an emotionally abusive relationship, and yes men can be victims as well, but the thing that made me pull the drag chute was Daniel Sloss' comedy special Jigsaw because that led me to the conclusion that my relationship was properly unhealthy and that I deserved better. And after that, my best friend took me to a support group for survivors of emotional abuse, and that's when I realised as bad as my experience was, as worthless as I was made to feel. I was one of the lucky ones. Some of the people at this group were barely able to function. And this one guy I latched onto was this guy Hamish, who went through what I did to a more extreme degree. And where is Hamish now? Married to an angel, with four kids and I was best man at his wedding.
Agreed, this movie was far superior. Blake Lively basically used "It Ends With Us" to promote her brand and sold the movie like a fun movie to go watch with your girlies. Anna Kendrick empathizes with her character more

I really loved how there was never any over the top abuse for shock factor. Emotional abuse leaves scars that last far longer than any physical scar.
The humiliation/shame scars deeper than the lash!
I used to pray that my ex spouse would hit me so that I would have a "valid" reason to leave. Emotional/psychological abuse is some insidious fu*kery.
