Kendrick's directing changes the game. When true crime focuses on the gory killing of victims, while it's terrifying, it almost allows viewers to disconnect, as it is so outrageous we can't imagine ourselves in the position - likely a subconscious safety net. Kendrick's talent shines light on the universal experience of all women. that split second when the energy shifts, when alarm bells start screaming in our mind, primal instinct of danger. The wrong word that gives a man away, that certain glare where theirs eyes change, the slight touch, the pace of a man walking behind you. Our sensory systems a flooded. Quickening breath, high alert, increase pace, can I scream, can I run. Which will get me Killed, slow and quiet or fast and loud. We have all been there.
Anna is a genuine, kind, intelligent woman. I admire her tenacity to stick out hollywood. I can only imagine how difficult it is to be in that kind of environment when you're on the more senstive, self aware end of the scale. She seems to have started as a real supporting actress and has worked her way up to being a director. That's admirable! I hope she is enjoying this moment of success. She deserves it.
Oh, same here are we sure this is not some syndrome or something? Like how come I noticed it when she said it? When she was talking with her hands the whole time.
"if it's that important to you guys, i'm not sure if i can make that movie" is such a professional way of saying "i am the director and i am that bitch so let's do it my way" 👏👏
You know, I heard a lot about Ann Kendrick. People saying how terrible she was but she's obviously not. She's a woman with a backbone who fights for herself and other women. The media is messed up. Thanks to Kelly for having her on the show so we can see more of what she's actually like!
Dang. Anna tering up when Autumn speak those amazing words shows how much love she's got inside her. I'm so glad that those past trauamas didn't steal that light. The world is such a better place because of it
so.. I don't know if I'm blind or not or what, but in the movie I never noticed autumn had a disability, I was just absolutely taken with the way her face was emoting... I noticed it now bc she pointed it out. more power to you girl, whoever doesn't cast you cause of your disability, is just an idiot
I watched the movie and didn't notice Autumn's hand difference at all! I was blown away by her performance in this movie. She's a brilliant actress and I hope she's cast in many more films to come!
The Cup Song is iconic! I remember making a RUclips cover when I was 15 (didn't upload it though haha) singing that song + doing the cup thing as well 😂 what an era!
Yeah... think her huge rise with that 1 song is a sign... she should also been a singer too "God willed it" sorta thing on top of all the other things she's done, quite bit is also rather hard an impressive to do
when I heard this was anna's directorial debut, I was a bit confused. because I thought she had already directed a movie haha she just gave me the vibe of someone who would make a good director!
Anna Kendrick's fantastic movie deserves to win her an Oscar (even though it won't because it won't run in theaters) or an Emmy- but there was no reason to portray Jim Lange like that. Tony Hale even dressed up like him but even though the name was changed to Ed Burke, it still made no sense. I knew about the Rodney Alcala story, so watching the portrayal was interesting. I would've asked why she fictionalized so much of the story.
*SPOILER: I noticed the actress's hand in the movie scene when she realized she was tied. I thought, "Oh no, did he break or mutilate her hand?" But it wasn't a focal point, and she wasn't impeded, so I didn't think about it again. She was terrific in the movie, and her character was so brilliant!
That’s what I can’t watch her show unless there’s an interview I really want to see. She talks over everybody. Same reason I can’t watch The Late Show. The best interviewers allow room for their guests to finish a thought.
I know this isn’t the right spot for this comment. But Kelly, can you reach out to Andre 3000? He is so talented and the world misses him! I still don’t know what happened or why he disappeared from the spotlight. I just tried to find out and all the sources I’ve found are contradictory. This man needs to be interviewed! He inspired so much music, and the movie Idlewild, like where did he go? Did Diddy do something? Like can we all agree that Andre is extremely talented? Because he just is! He had a voice for his music but now he’s not talking or doing music? What happened?
Why am I asking you about this you might ask? Well first of all Celine Dion knows your name (haha nice video btw ❤) and second of all, you are a force in the music industry, and I feel like you are contributing to its evolution. So….period! Love you Kelly! ❤
I thought it was really well done from a technical standpoint. What I didn't like was how it deviated quite a bit from the true story in some important ways. My understanding is that it was a male executive producer who actually didn't want to bring Rodney Alcala on the show but a woman advocated for him because he was so good-looking, but then she eventually came around to seeing how creepy he was. So it sounds like lots of people on the show realized he was a creep and when Cheryl backed out, it was not a shock. Also, it was lenient laws that kept putting Rodney Alcala back on the street, despite the cops' wishes. And it sounds like they fictionalized the host and basically made him a caricature. He may represent different people Anna Kendrick has met, but he doesn't represent the actual host of The Dating Game. So the movie bends the true story quite a bit to fit its feminist narrative, which is kind of ironic, if you think about it. They had to bend the truth and turn it into essentially a complete lie to make it feel relatable to people. I don't deny that there is a lot of ugliness out there. But you also can't deny that it's the ugliness that is often being reflected back to us in the media that we consume, and that's what we sometimes focus on. And sometimes the voices in our heads are not much of a help either. There is a lot of heroism in this story, and I think if people watch the documentary Dating Death and look at it with an open mind, they might see that society is not against them. Men are not against women. Some men are. But I think people tend to believe the lies that they are told. Also, I really did not like the fact that the movie omitted so many of the victims' stories. For example, Robin Samsoe was reduced to a little footnote at the end. She was referred to as a "12 year old girl" he killed, and that's it. And I know it's a difficult thing making a movie and including all the facts of the case and wanting to be sensitive to the real people, etc. But for the past several years, I have really found myself wanting to hear the victims' stories, not the killers' stories, not the detectives' stories, not the story of how some random woman who once lived next to the killer tried to get the police to check him out but was ignored, etc. Not all the juicy gossip. I just want to hear the human stories of these victims and focus on who they were, not what was done to them. And I think this movie tried to do that and did it a little bit but ultimately went back to making them faceless anonymous women, with the exception of maybe Sarah who was the one I really found myself feeling the most for. I thought Autumn Best did a great job too, but the movie set her up to be the one to bring Rodney Alcala down, and she was not. Robin Samsoe's death was the reason he was ultimately locked up for good. I also hated, hated, hated the Laura subplot because it was so contrived, and it made no sense, and it felt just so disingenuous to me. This woman doesn't even know for sure if it's actually him, and if it is, she doesn't know for sure that he's guilty, but she has a hunch, and if the police weren't able to get evidence on him, then there's nothing they can do about the fact that she has a hunch anyway, and why didn't she spend her time waiting to warn Sheryl after the show instead? That would have been time better spent. And her character was complete fiction, but more than that, totally twists the reality of the case to fit a very simplistic, pessimistic narrative about men. If Anna Kendrick or the other people involved in making this movie wanted to tell a story that felt true to them, they should have made a fictional story or based it on their own experiences instead of manipulating the facts of a true case to tell a story that never happened. But that was my takeaway from this. I don't speak for others. I read at least one of his victims didn't like what the movie did with the facts, but I don't know about the others.
It’s a nice film but a little too powder puff considering the topic. I would have preferred if the casting of the three Dating Game candidates looked more like the original people.
First off, did Kelly get on Ozempic or w.e like all the other celebrities have done? Because she looks much different than I remember. Secondly, Anna Kendrick is Perfect!! I could die a happy man just meeting her tbh 😊

PERFECTLY said. I was trying to find the words to describe this.
Thank you so much for posting the full interview and not hacking it up into segments. 👍☺
They do both. It's bc it gives them more content
I literally said to myself after watching the movie, wow how well directed it is and only then saw Anna directed it!! Amazing work 👏🏻
As someone who works for Hilton…. Go put the review on line rotten tomatoes…. None of us understand the importance of reviews…. Until you need them.
Same!

I didnt notice her hand until she said something, my goodness such a wise woman at 20 amazing to be under Anna's wing for this movie
Oh, same here are we sure this is not some syndrome or something? Like how come I noticed it when she said it? When she was talking with her hands the whole time.
I didn’t either
Same. I still forget that she has a disability because of how iconic her performance was in the movie
Same. And I love that. It doesn't have to be the center of every story!
She was amazing and literally stole the whole movie under everybody else
I honestly did not notice her hand in the movie. She gave a terrific performance playing a very lucky survivor. Good film!
I think she was even smarter than she was luckier, the way she handled him in such moment of stress, my jaw dropped.
i truly did not notice the girl's hand until I got to the part where she mentions it.
Same!! And I watched the whole movie without noticing either!
Anna Kendrick is the best!
"if it's that important to you guys, i'm not sure if i can make that movie" is such a professional way of saying "i am the director and i am that bitch so let's do it my way" 👏👏

People hate successful women. They always try to tear them down.
Dang. Anna tering up when Autumn speak those amazing words shows how much love she's got inside her. I'm so glad that those past trauamas didn't steal that light. The world is such a better place because of it
And that's a whole comedian. Not a clown. So much wisdom.
She did AMAZING as a director!!!...hope to see more!
so.. I don't know if I'm blind or not or what, but in the movie I never noticed autumn had a disability, I was just absolutely taken with the way her face was emoting... Fun fact: That indie movie she was filming was called Drinking Buddies. Very underrated film!
Woman who was nominated for a Tony at 12 years old can’t fathom how she has a platinum record… also absolutely watching this movie, been on my list.
Autumn Best was awesome in 4400 and it is great to see her getting more recognition.
Must admit, I love the message in the cup song.
amazing interview
When I tell you, I only realised she had one hand right after she mentionned it
same girl
same
Literally same!
I came here for this. I was like “a limb diff…what?”
i like her.she s cute.
I loved this movie
ANNA IS AMAZING!
Interesting interview queen Kelly!❤❤❤❤
LOVE LOVE LOVE BOTH THESE WOMEN!
She’s the cutest!! So fun! 🤩
The Cup Song is iconic! I remember making a RUclips cover when I was 15 (didn't upload it though haha) singing that song + doing the cup thing as well 😂 what an era!
She's always beautiful ❤
14:50 not me just noticing she only had one hand and patting myself on the back for that lol
Me too! It kinda threw me off a little bit when she started talking about disability, like what disability?? 😅
Me too !! It was all I could look at after, but only because I was so shocked that I didn't even notice it
I only noticed after seeing this comment! haha
This was one of the best movies I’ve seen in a decade.
Love Anna.
Those movies were so good
Yeah... think her huge rise with that 1 song is a sign... she should also been a singer too "God willed it" sorta thing on top of all the other things she's done, quite bit is also rather hard an impressive to do
when I heard this was anna's directorial debut, I was a bit confused. because I thought she had already directed a movie haha she just gave me the vibe of someone who would make a good director!
I’m pretty sure she produced Alice, Darling and that’s why so many people have been surprised.
Anna is my Woman of the Hour.
Anna Kendrick's fantastic movie deserves to win her an Oscar (even though it won't because it won't run in theaters) or an Emmy- but there was no reason to portray Jim Lange like that. She didn’t write the screenplay. That would be a question for that person.
I like the earrings on the girl at the end of the couch.
Watched the movie and then showed it to my bf later that night. He mentioned she only had one hand and 🤯. I never even noticed
Kelly, let the guest speak MORE than you.
That’s what I can’t watch her show unless there’s an interview I really want to see. She talks over everybody. Same reason I can’t watch The Late Show. The best interviewers allow room for their guests to finish a thought.
"My brother was my first bully" 😂 I can totally relate as someone who has an older brother lol
I still can’t eat boston cream donuts because my sister told me they were snot when we were younger
Autumn Best looks like that actress from that movie..Ronnie and Julie! Hahaa you rem that?? Her eyes..❤
Anna Kendrick & 'Woman of the Hour' Full Interview | Kelly Clarkson Show

American talk show tv is something I will never be able to explain.
I know we say this about a lot of people, but SHE DOES NOT AGE. How was Pitch Perfect a decade ago??
OMG my twin brother did the same!!! Thank you for making me feel normal. Boys 🤢🤮
Damn Kelly looks good.
She’s a genius

Melissa McCarthy is the cutest 😆🤣😂
It would be nice if you could watch the movie from canada :/
Wtf I didn’t even see in the movie that she has one hand, and even in this interview I only noticed when the conversation was send to the topic
5:33
y’all don’t know autumn best like ik autumn best.
Ryan murphy should learn from Anna
It’s a nice film but a little too powder puff considering the topic. I would have preferred if the casting of the three Dating Game candidates looked more like the original people.
Bring on Kesha pleeease!! Duet!!
This interview felt way too rushed
Why didn’t they let the other girl talk
I saw all three of them talking in this interview.
Constructive criticism: the interrupting and talking over is very distracting
Kathryn Gallagher looks like Demi Lovato 😮
First off, did Kelly get on Ozempic or w.e like all the other celebrities have done? Because she looks much different than I remember.
