- Some may know Anna Kendrick for her more comedic roles in films like Drinking Buddies or the Pitch Perfect franchise. But in her latest movie, Alice, Darling, she demonstrates her range, depicting a woman stuck in an abusive relationship. She sat down with Tom Power at the TIFF to talk about the film.

She is so beautiful here....and Tom was a sensitive and thoughtful interviewer.
It is a get out of your comfort zone theme for Anna Kendrick, demonstrating that as an actor you genuinely have the ability to plunge into a larger and varied human's emotional condition and depth-character complicity. It's great fun to see Anna in a different story-setting mood, and she managed to get rid of the normal humorous and pitch-perfect themed girls in this film. Her performance on this is fantastic.
Well said!
Lookin forward to the sequel to A Simple Favor.
I’m SOBBING about that! I’m so excited
UEA IM SO EXITED TOO
Can listen to her for hours :)
The lighting for this podcast is so different than most. Almost looks like film instead of video.
I definitely was curious about the weird in between stance in Alice Darling so I’m glad she was able to explain what was going on there!
Great interview
Who could possibly treat this gift of a woman badly?
Anna has just directed her first film, and I can hardly wait to see it.
that was a fantastic interview, i loved how he went really deep and she went with him
I ❤ real conversation, not like the late night shows (which can be entertaining) but real interaction with the host and his guest exchanging ideas and discussing the other person as a human being doing projects. She's not the projects; she's an actress who's repotiore keeps evolving as she keeps working roles. Really enjoyed this!
I love "The Women" too. One of my favourite lines towards the end goes, "There's a name for women like you, but in polite society it's not uttered outside of kennels."
😂 great line... So glad they mentioned this movie!
They have amazing chemistry!
There's a book by Penelope Ward where the main character reminds me of Ms Kendrick; have the feeling if they ever make the book-to-movie transition, the author/director should really consider her for the main actor role. I think she's funny, quirky, intelligent and very interesting as a person.
She s sooo talented...and Quirky Beautiful
I love how she's a New Englander born in Portland Maine...besides that she's pretty as well...
This woman is a beast 😎💯🎉
I was in a emotionally abusive relationship. In company this girl was all innocent, butter wouldn't melt but behind closed doors it was all about emotional abuse and psychological torture. But it was Daniel Sloss' Jigsaw that helped me pull the pin. I am one of the thousands of people who's relationship was destroyed by that set, but I am one of comparatively few who cannot thank him enough. But Alice Darling was such a tough watch because it was so familiar. So if that's what they wanted, they did a bang up job.
Great chemistry in this interview!
She's very sweet 💯🌈🇨🇮
thanks for allowing me to exist around you. my grace
She’s my future wife I love her music and to be alone, even though I’m 25 And she’s 39
CJ & Sweet: dat was EZ.

Guess we'll have to wait for Ben R:s response/side of the story but it's probably smartest to just stay quiet and off of the radar...
I don’t believe she’s talking about Ben…
@@mahery3000 I read an interview and it was someone she dated for 6 years and broke up with shortly before filming. She dated Ben 2014-2020 so he's the one that fits.
This, is :one ,individual that I don’t like .Edward ,the :kidnapper ,from Clark - Summer State ,hospital’s.
Nice interview - but I'd really rather look at your guest than at a comically large microphone in front of your guest. What is it with male RUclipsrs and gigantic microphones?
“Male RUclipsrs” 😂 He is a host on CBC, the national public station of Canada. Anna is doing an interview for Canadian press, not just some RUclipsr/podcast.
something looks really off about her appearance and I can't figure it out.
Everyone else was toxic to her. It was never her, though
Typical.
At least watch the interview first before commenting. She was in a toxic relationship with a boyfriend who was gaslighting and cheating on her. 'Everyone' in this case isn't plural. She's only talking about one person.
Anna was in an emotional abusive relationship, please don’t post ignorant comments on content you know nothing about.
@@johnwalsh6061 No crew member on the sets, hotel worker, waitress has anything nice to say about her. She is a conceited monster and perpetual victim. Just like many of you vapid Zoomers who take your identities from brand names, all the while claiming to be anti-capitalist.
@@FallicIdol Not to burst her bubble but I met Anna like years ago and she was really nice to me and like to herself. I could tell she's like really a introverted person right now and like I believe her being like a Broadway project you just have to be so well self assured Because everything in that aspect is like a competition and you have to save the best. I don't know but maybe they ran into her and she had a bad day but you never know what people nowadays but just to inform you she's actually a nice person.
