I watched this yesterday. The trailer gives it more of an ‘action’ movie vibe than it is. It is by far the most accurate depiction of how insidious emotional abuse is. I watched my best friend BE Alice in our early 20s. If you have ever been touched by emotional abuse, this movie may actually be too hard to sit through. Be warned. I couldn’t drink my soda because my throat was so tight and anxious. It’s an incredible film - but it’s not a blockbuster. I do hope you go see it.
Can I ask did u see it in the theater? I can't find another way to watch it. I just left my abusive husband after 15 years all of my 20s and into my 30s. Your friend is blesses to have you.
Have you seen the new version of The Invisible Man? The girl from the Handmaids tale is in it and its incredible. It's a metaphor for gaslighting and emotional abuse among others.
@@nataliejune84 it’s in theaters now, in my area it is a limited release so there is only one theater with showings. And thank you, I feel very blessed to have her too. ♥️
My best friend was married to a guy like this. She couldn’t see it. Then she got pregnant and was trapped in this. She died mysteriously and he’s a Dr. If you recognize yourself in this comment or this film clip please get out. Make a plan and go before he kills you.
The trailer gave a thriller feel but it ain’t. It’s an emotional film, trigger warning as well if you have suffered from emotional abuse/trauma. Exceptional acting by Anna as always!
Heard Anna’s interview on Armchair Expert, and now I’m so hyped for this movie! She’s my favorite actress, and I can’t wait to watch it. The trailer had me feeling so nervous. Love a thriller ❤
That is the only answer that matters!!! Because if you were whole and emotionally secure, you wouldn't have been there in the first place. You can only reclaim your power, once you realize you were a volunteer, not a victim. You always had the power to walk away.
@@ineedhoez the only person who should ask that question is trained trauma professional in therapy. Nowhere else. The brain damage that occurs in domestic violence is serious and pervasive. They didn’t leave bc they thought they deserved it. That doesn’t take a genius to figure out. The breakdown that question can cause has led to suicide. If you are not trained in what you should be saying after asking you are endangering the person and can trigger suicidality, flashbacks, disassociation, heart attack and death.
Seriously. This is triggering af. Good for her for bringing her life experiences into this. I’m sure it must have been difficult. Idk if I can even watch.
Why she stay with him.. she could just ended it and move on with someone else and someone hopefully better... Like seriously females are dmb most of the times.
I’m glad that this movie actually shows an abusive relationship in a bad light, as it should because it seems like people these days like to romanticize abusive relationships and make it look like a good thing (Looking RIGHT at you, After series) Lionsgate, you’ve done it again!😁🤩 And it’s great seeing Anna again in something
If you're saying that because he's abusive or you think he is, do not do that. You couldn't even fathom the pain and suffering you'd put your sister through by making her watch it alone much less with her abuser. And if she were to put this movie on and have him watch it with her... He will instantly think she's accusing him and it will lead to more and worse abuse. Don't ever put someone in that situation. There are many ways to get your point across, this isn't one of them.
So I’m halfway through it and I’m still trying to figure out what the fuck Andrea has to do with Alice and her crazy relationship. I hope there is a resolution between Tess Sophie and Alice also. At this point in the movie I don’t realize what their friendship was even built on. It seems so superficial.
It's a side story; it serves as a parallelism of physical violence, to emotional violence that the main character is going through. All in all, it's watchable, but still a boring movie, at least to me 🤷♀️
I was showing sings of pica and the strangest dreams and paranoid ideations just a few months my abusive narcissist fiancé collapsed and killed himself, it’s so difficult to see the damage and horror you’ve been dragged in until it’s too late.
I totally get what this story is about and it's important to show what people in abusive relationships go through but you guys actually think this was a good movie? It was so boring and the metaphors were so corny. And my wife was the one to point them all out while it was happening. I totally would've missed them if it wasn't for her because I'm a guy and we're not that intuitive.
NOT one of those movies that’s 90 minutes of sadists’ delight (a woman getting pounded on) and 10 minutes of “domestic violence is bad so we made this pro-female film”. And Anna Kendricks was great in a dramatic role.
If you think Anna Kendrick was great in a dramatic role, go watch "a simple favor". She plays a somewhat dramatic role in that as well & its by far one of my favorite Anna Kendrick Movies.
Can they now make a movie where the woman is coercing the man to stop talking with all his friends and family and using the anti men custody laws to do it.
And Alice literally picking “lipstick” that could have been evidence, in an abandoned house that looked like a potential crime scene.. what was the point?
I swear movies make more people crazy than the boring reality it really is, and should be. It's the same story with the same outcome, a dysfunctional relationship about 2 people who don't know they are at the end of the relationship so they become toxic to each other. They always like to emphasize on one but it's honestly both. Crazy attracts crazy. It's true.
Do you think there's life after death? God loves the world, He gave His Son Jesus (unto death for our sins), whoever believes will not die but have everlasting life. John3:16 Repent/belive, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8
I just watched... Fkn terrible movie. Lots of build up over nothing. It's not a thriller, it's a drama based around one character. Story line is intriguing, but goes nowhere. Massive disappointment!!! Half star out of 5

That actually got scarier the further it went. Definitely gonna keep an eye out.
Don't waste your time. It was disappointing. Just another example of a film they could have done so much with, but didn't
You can tell by the comments the people who have been through something like this and the ones who haven't.
