    You make a great video mate, I never thought of using the dangle like that, I only thought the bait went on the dangle. I'll be trying this method one day, thanks for sharing.

    • @anglinguntangled
      @anglinguntangled  2 года назад +1

      Thank you mate! Yeah I haven’t seen it elsewhere but it works really well with the gangs. I forgot to mention it in the video but it your bottom hook has enough gape showing you can clip it straight onto it, as well as I’ve messed around with crimping a smaller hook onto the bottom one to hang below the tail and attach into the release clip, which turns the dangle into just an extra hook

      Cheers mate! At the time of this video I was getting them online from Mo Tackle. I still do get the odd batch online but for my 6oz sinkers I’ve switched to Cobalt Blue grapling sinkers. Most tackle shops can get them in however they’ve downgraded the wire in the last batch I got and don’t hold as good, but still a very good sinker

    Cool video, have you ever tried using this rig for jewfish? If so what weight sinker would u use

    • @anglinguntangled
      @anglinguntangled  2 года назад +1

      I’ve been playing around with it for a while with some success but also a few frustrations. I took a rig I’ve designed myself for a test drive the other night and got an 80cm Jew and had no issues with the rig fishing over a couple of hours, so will hopefully show it off soon if it keeps producing the goods. Sinker weight just depends on the amount of water movement but usually around a 5-6oz does the trick 👍🏼

    Great content mate! curious about that rod, as in the cast weight is supposed to be 85g. you're throwing approx. 150g plus pilchard? The prevail heavy model is rated to throw 250g or something but the 6 to 12 kg your using is only rated at 85g. So in short if the 6 to 12 kg rod will actually throw the weight you're using and not explode i will buy the medium like yours over the heavy 12ft version. Hope that makes sense.... Cheers Mate.. looking forward to your new content...

    • @anglinguntangled
      @anglinguntangled  Год назад

      Cheers mate, appreciated! My prevail is from the previous series which were rated differently to the prevail 2’s, so It’s a 8-12kg 30-120g rod. So I’m still casting over the recommended weight by a bit but I don’t give it everything I’ve got either. Mind you the one I’ve got is a very tough rod and I’ve no doubt the prevail 2’s are the same. But out of the current lineup the 13ft 8-20kg would be the pick for this type of fishing as well as throwing bigger baits for mulloway (the Penn site has the cast weight wrong and I think it’s actually rated upto 200g when I checked motackle). You could go the 12ft 6-12kg if you think you can get away with using smaller sinker weights and It would be a more sporting rod for tailor salmon, even drummer, and would be a lot better for throwing metals around too

    Nice video. This the UK style of beach fishing? They use imp clips, Gemini clips, and pulley rigs. I think they use a dongle, or loop, to cast dead baits because the hook is buried in the bait. I bought some pulleys and clips on eBay, and I hope to have a go this summer.
    Thanks from David.

    • @anglinguntangled

      Yeah I know the Europeans are into this kind of thing but I picked up the techniques from the South African guys. Seems the Aussie tactics of beach fishing are very simple compared to a lot of the world

    • @anglinguntangled

      Just by connecting with some swivels and then crushing g the eye on those swivels to stop the hooks coming off. Pre made ganged hooks do just fine but mate

    Great video mate. I am a beginner in fishing.Just wanna ask when do you strike to set the hook. Do you let the fish run with the bait or strike after a few nibbles.
    Or is it that different fish bite differently.

    • @anglinguntangled
      @anglinguntangled  2 года назад +2

      Thanks mate! Well but off a difficult question to answer and many factors at play, but for this rig I wouldn’t be striking at small bites but wait for a bite that loads the rod up decently, or actually makes your line go complete lately slack. My other video chasing beach bream might illuminate it a little more. But I’m short I don’t wait for a run but I’m not striking small bites either 👍🏼

A lot of ppl have different views.At the moment i am only targeting bream flathead whiting and travelly.I am not good at long cast😁but hopefully will get there with more practice.

    • @anglinguntangled
      @anglinguntangled  2 года назад +1

      With those species I’d prefer a 1-3ft surf (~1-2m on the weather forecasts). But basically you’ll need swell big enough for some kind of breaking wave action that is getting a bit of white water over a gutter. As the swell gets bigger the fish will likely still be there but the sweep (sideways current) will be difficult to deal with on light gear. The beauty of those species is that you generally won’t need to cast very far for them and I’d actually prefer closer skinnier gutters than deep wide ones. Trevally are a pretty uncommon catch of the beach though for me anyways 👍🏼
