Thank you Roger. I fish on the Gulf coast of Texas. I come from over 40 years of bass fishing including tournaments. I tried wade fishing and got caught in soft mud and sunk in the bay and got caught in rip tide in the surf. Both times i managed to save myself. (BTW, I’m 70 years old. Fishing by myself from a boat is stressful for an old man like me.) Watching yours and other beach fishing videos I am learning to stay safer, drier and still catch fish. Thank you for you great instructional videos. I am really enjoying this new to me style of fishing 👍
I have been fishing since I could walk, I'm by no means a great fisho so I like watching these videos. Out Of all the videos on RUclips that I have watched this was the best, you are clear, concise, and you are not trying to ram products down our throats. And you are not neglecting us old fashioned bait fishermen. Cheers, SUBSCRIBED!
I love how you show sensitivity to those who dont feel comfy with blood and guts or even butchering a fish. Part of the food chain, its all natural in nature. So much enjoying your videos and learning a heck of a lot from you. Thank you for your knowledge and sharing.
I’m a newbie to this great hobby or sport. Roger, I’ve learnt more from just 2 of your videos than wannabe Fishermen out there in the public, who give No advice but always ask “have you caught anything”.. Thank you Roger & all those others who share their knowledge..
I mean this when I say this... these are the best and most informative beach fishing guides! Well edited, well shot and explained perfectly. Congratulations and thank you for passing on your knowledge. Keep it up
My wife found your channel and forwarded it to me. I’m glad she did, your videos are so informative, educational, you speak so clearly and explain everything so simply. I’m going through all your videos one by one and I’m sure my fishing experiences will be a lot better. Thank you and keep up the good work. Happy fishing.
Thank you Roger for such a treasure trove of information. I'm a Sydney fisho who regularly visits the South Coast since childhood. My fishing targets seem quite similar to yours but although I've spent many hours on the rocks (and still do) beach fishing has been an occasional pastime of mine until recently. I couldn't believe it when I discovered your channel - so many of the questions I've had about rigs, bait, etc have been answered by your videos. The places I see you fish are familiar and I feel like I've gained a great deal from you in a relatively short space of time. Big thanks mate. Hopefully I'll see you one day on the beach and I can say thanks in person.
You made us wait for long Roger. But as always, loved the video, and your genuineness and passion. I usually hit the Like button within few seconds but mostly before even starting to play. And will continue doing so. Cheers mate..
This video and channel as a whole is probably the best beach fishing 101 course on RUclips! I have watched so many videos that were titled "how to catch ... on beach" but only turned out to be filming of one beach fishing session - or a hoax in Trump's words. Hats off to Roger for these informative and well-presented videos! Looking forward to the upcoming videos about other beach fishing gears!
Your videos make me feel like a kid again. Learnt to beach and estuary fish from my grandfather and father. Learnt to fish exactly like you, still fish mono mainlines, same rigs, 2/0 longshanks for whiting, locked clinch knot for everything etc. Nothing against the more modern techniques, but awesome job of documenting the highly effective old school Australian bait fishing methods.
Many Thanks for your time and tremendous efforts to share with us such type of strategic fishing techniques ...... Need to be explained the Best Fish Hook Knot Technique Really appreciate it
Thankyou so much Roger, your videos have inspired me. Took my surf rods out last weekend to kilcunda after using your tips on rigs for salmon and reeled in 2 of them. Keep up the great work cheers! 👍😊
I love your videos. I watch tens of other fishing channels. yours I found yesterday and its already my favorite one out of them all. such a chill, nice guy. plus your videos aren't too long and if they are a bit sometimes, they are full of educational content. Keep it up please I want to learn so much more from you.
This is essential viewing. i wish i had watched a video like rhis when i started fishing... would have saved a lot of time and caught a lot more fish in the beginning.
Thanks Roger! You’re awesome! I enjoy watching your videos. Have a great day on the beach. I’m in the USA. I hope to visit Australia soon and fish with you. Keep on fishing, mate! You’re the greatest!
I'm a super newbie fisherman and this is exactly the kind of series I need. Heaps of great info, and even little tips that tell me I've been baiting my mulies all wrong this whole time, and your quick demo helps heaps! 😁
As always, appreciate your insight and expertise.. I have a problem though.. I have a lot of work to do at home but now all I wana do is pack the kids up in the car and go fishing 😂
Hi Roger once again great video! It would be great if you could do a quick video on how you use the different types of reels. Some stay that that’s it’s an art form bringing in a big fish on a spinning reel. I have hooked a couple of times but never landed and would like to know what I’m doing wrong!
Mate, a terrific video. Plenty of great info. Just a little point for fishers. Try and carry a small sharpening stone in your pocket. Use this to keep the hook points razor sharp. They do get blunt after a while. Cheers.
Your videos are super helpful especially for people that don’t get out to fish as much as they’d like. Keep up the great videos! Any chance you could do one in your rod set ups? I have no idea what to use when it comes to beach fishing
Great video, I appreciate all the info and am looking forward to future content. By the way, when you hooked that mega mulloway what sort of setup were you using?
Your channel is by far the best! I'm a beginner and I am simply following your guidance. Really appreciate your kindness sharing your knowledge and experience. I was wondering if you could make a video about "when to fish", are those predictions based on solunar fishing times important or a myth?
Thanks Roger, really like your videos, can you do a video on what strength line for spinning real on 12 foot rod on the beach, chasing bream and whiting, also can you show best way to dispatch humanly and more importantly bleed fish, speciously tailor, keep up the good work, Hank, of Blacksmiths NSW
Hi. Great videos. Thank you. You mentioned in the write up that you haven't tried circle hooks. Personally I can recommend them for chunk bait. Great hookups and usually in the corner of the mouth. Give them a go sometime. Tight lines.
Absolutely a fantastic presentation, I’ve seen a few of your clips, spot on. I’ve been beach fishing for a few years now, and still found this very informative. Well done 10 points. Good on you for sharing knowledge. Keep up the good work. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I start with a big hook and go down in size if pickers keep stealing the bait... sure little hooks catch big fish but big fish swallow little hooks which makes catch & release more difficult. I tend to catch less fish than other people but the fish I catch are usually bigger and I'm happy with that. Not really fussy about hook type... doesn't need to be as technical as this makes it out to be and ganged hooks are an Aussie thing... we do just fine without them. Great videos not knocking them at all but a reality check now and then doesn't hurt. My goto hook size is 7/0 and if I need smaller than I start wondering if it is even worth the bother.
Excellent presentation and very informative and this compliment is coming from someone who has a cert 4 in training and assessement. Roger when can we expect the next in this series?
Hi Michael, thanks for your encouragement. I have filmed my "Sinker Specifics" video, just putting it together so should be ready in the next week or so :) Roger
Hi Roger...luv the vids...any tips for winter beach fishing?...Same rules apply all year round?? Targeting salmon..tailor...on my larger rod...whiting and bream on my medium lighter rod...cheers
Hi Roger, I'm a beginner and like to fishing, the video you show the bait and hook use for beach fishing, can I use it for river fishing. I used to fishing at the spit during winter time for tailor. Since the spit is closed, I've no choice but to fish at Narang river. What do you think?
Thank you for this great information I have a question I live in southern Arizona and fish in Mexico or California does it matter the temperature of water regarding Hooks and bait

Hi Hank, I use 15lb line for bream and Whiting with a flurocarbon leader. Best way is to cut the fishes throat, it bleeds out and dies quickly.
I’m excited 😛
Just found this guy . Love his vids and info..

Hook size n bait only matters for what species you are trying to catch mate
Hi Rafael, I don't think that the water temp matters, although the species of fish that you catch may vary, Roger.
Always soo helpful mate great job

Hi Anthony, I have quite a few videos that I would like to make. It will probably be a couple of months.
Can't wait to see rod and reel size for beach fishing :)
Interesting vid but no mention of the circle hook which os great for static beach fishing.
Absolutely informative material! Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge 👍👍
