Yo one of the best video explanation 👏 about surf fishing. I've watched tons of video and could never figure out how 🤔 the were reading the surf. Thanks man. Went out labor day weekend and got skunked but it was low tide 🙃
Love the honesty and sincerity of this guy. I love the way he shows the reality of fishing. Some days you catch fish and other days you don't even get a bite. Awesome fishing channel.
I laugh at alot of people who comment "when so and so posts I stop everything and go watch" Jun I can honestly say I love your positive up beat personality and I have become one of those guys brother. More than fishing is the top of my list.
I subscribed because you show honestly how it is when you go fishing, where at times even if you cast on an area that can harbor alot of fish. Sometimes they are not there and you go home empty handed and do the walk of shame. Btw I have fishing days where the bites are so slow that the moment I hook on to a fish, it feels like I won the lottery then I finesse the fish as best as I can so I dont lose it.
Jun, I/we appreciate you very much. Your down to earth, unpretentious, humble, funny, no frills no fancy, educational, not try to be cool videos are very helpful to my fishing game and are very informal and enjoyable to watch. Thank you so much! I maybe out your way this Tuesday.
I believe that bird was a young ”common murre.” They are diving birds and can dive up to 60 meters. After they moult they become flightless for a period of time. It was perfectly fine, it’s common for people to think they are injured.
Pare, always fun and educational watching your videos, even the entrance was entertaining. Good that you didn't get hurt, and no damage to your gear. Keep it up, and still waiting to see you get out there in a kayak
Thank you for the advice. Your video really help me become a better all around angler. I felt for you when you got cut. you really earned that striped bass. I learn lots from you. thank you
What temperature would you recommend for best surf fishing? it’s been so sunny in the 80’s and 90’s here in Maine and i’m afraid the big ones would want to be further out.
Thanks for letting the bass go, I myself will never keep one, I took way to many, from 1965to 1990s, been letting go for 30 years now,we got to keep there numbers up,some of you may not know, but in the 60s a bass keeper was 16inches,with 3 the limit
Stripers eat millions of salmon and endangered steelhead. I kill all of them due to this fact. As of today Cal's salmon and steelhead are literally on the brink of extinction.
@@Machster10 that's why we have to save the stripers that's all we have, the writing been on the wall for years the salmon don't have long too go,most people don't have a boat for salmon away and that B.S salmon fishing from shore in the Sacramento river with 200 fisherman sucks ,striper fishing in the bay been going on for 100 years I don't know anyone that caught a bass with a baby salmon in side, but I caught a 34 pound catfish with 3 inside
Pardon me for not following, but how did reversing that hook change anything? Still a 50/50 chance of landing on one side or the other, like a coin toss
They both pretty much the same, the only difference is the Dark Matter has shorter arm, it measures 12” from butt to reel seat. Dialuna has 15” I believe 🤔
Hi Jun; can you say what beach that is? I been trying to fish close to LA because I live in Lancaster in the desert but I don`t know where to try and coming from so far at least I want to have a chance to have some fun not to just skunk and waste all that gas and time, can you help? Thanks
Hey Jun, thanks for showing the stripers are out there. Yes, go when low tide to scout the area. Sometimes it's hard to go whenever the right tide when time permits. That was a big fish you caught. How big?? BTW, how you figure the hook was wrong side on the mickey jig?
I would’ve broken the end of my ride off the first minute doing that. I break so many roads I had to buy my own rod repair kits fiberglass resin materials rod grinder and I’m able to salvage some of my polls. I take three poles with me wherever I go because two of them get broken.
@@MoreThanFishing I second that - it's really simple, really effective, and let's me cast farther than I otherwise could. it also means that there's no bandage on your finger making it easier to tie things. Thanks for the vid!
Hi just wondering, do I need a glow in the dark lire if I am fishing for striped bass in the early morning? Or is a ghost anchovy color ok? Any info would be appreciated thanks guys.
Recently moved to the peninsula and have just started fishing this beach (have also fallen a few times in that same spot). Do you fish this beach often? Is it any good for striper?
Hey Jun, I have a question on perch. I know you like to use 2/0 hook for most fish but I never catch surf perch with that size. #2 or #4 seems to work the best for me. Have you had much success for perch using a 2/0 hook?
It depends upon the beach and the height of the high tide. Many sandy beaches in Norcal can fish better during the low tide only because you can reach the trough. If the the tide is not of a great enough height to fill in the beach slope and create slack, fish will not swim up on the beach slope. You'll just end up fishing unproductive and shallow backwash where fish do not hold. The better question is are fish more active during high tides and high tidal coefficients? The answer is yes.
Just bought one for my next trip. Using braid for the first time, so I just wrapped the pointer finger like jun does with athletic tape. But the cannon look like good value for under $20! Tight lines! 🎣
Legit as always Jun. I leave for Cali in the morning to visit family. Love being in the surf and have never caught a strip bass or barred surf perch. Hope to ad these fish to my catch and post on my channel Country2CoastAdventures
Remember when you wade out to sand bars on a low surf beach like you did, the hole /channel behind will fill when the tide turns, be very careful about that, be aware of the state of the tide. Still great video.
M. T. F. What a hard day you know it's going to be rough when the first thing to do is fall down glad you didn't get hurt though. Then no fish but at least you save that bird that's cool it's because of your videos I got me back into fishing after 40 years hope to see you out there someday go Giants
There are some monstrous stripers working the surf and chowing on jack smelt. Its that time of year again where the 30 and 40 lbers are making some amazing shows as anglers tossing big top water plugs connect. Saw a 48 inch on 8-1. Also hooked a small smooth hound shark during the day and it got eaten by a White shark right in the surf. did not see anyone go into the water after the incident. lol!!!
Hi nice video and very informative. Where do you live in California. I use to surf fish in Pacifica way back in the days. I live in San Diego now but no strippers down here.
Hey! Are you in Washington state bro? I’ve only ever caught surf perch in wa state ocean shores area. I’m actually renting a home there right now! Any other species than perch for shore fishing in Washington state Jun?
Wats up Jun? Wow nice video bro!!! Your human and knows how to feel how to grind lol you would have caught a fish sooner if your wife called or yell “POWER” 🤪
Awe man I love your channel and your content. My kids and I have been chasing stripers in the Sacramento River like crazy. Cant seem to catch ANY......i run into your channel and feel like there is more of a chance to catch one surf fishing. So we went today august 16th and got skunked. I would love to schedule a day to fish with you if you dont mind. Are you on fish brain app?

Nice work Jun. Thanks for showing us fishing is much easier than catching fish. Even for a very experienced angler like yourself. Keep it up!

You got a new sub my brother. What you did for that bird was amazing and much much appreciated for info on sandbar breaks. Many thanks and cheers.

Wow 16” with 3 to keep that’s crazy 😮
That's insane 😲
Here in Jersey 28 inch and your second one has to be 43 inch for a keeper

Pardon me for not following, but how did reversing that hook change anything? Still a 50/50 chance of landing on one side or the other, like a coin toss
I forgot to explain in the video that the lure was designed to swim where the rough side is upwards.
What kind of reel is that?
Van Staal VR50
Another great informational video! Keep up the great content! It's not just explaining, it's more than explaining! Lol! 👍

Tbh I don’t really know I just grab that in the tackle shop lol
Hey where are you fishing at
hi jun what rod do you like better. the dark matter ob 10' mh or the shimano dialuna 10' mh ?
They both pretty much the same, the only difference is the Dark Matter has shorter arm, it measures 12” from butt to reel seat. Dialuna has 15” I believe 🤔
What rod and reel were you using?? the link you left has way too much stuff.
subscribed after I saw the release, great fish!
We’re is this place June?

Kind hearted he is saved a bird today.. Is that a vs 175 reel??
It’s a vr 50. Thank you for watching!
It would be nice to know where this fishing is happening. Not the exact spot but more like East Coast, West Coast, Florida or Oregon!
4hours of plugging for one big bass isn't bad I threw small plastics for 4 hours for one crappie a few weeks ago!🤣🤣😂🐟 great vid!👍😄

Given my finger a slice or two before. I got a breakaway cannon. No more finger damage. And can cast a lot further with it.
