APD Issues. I've had them on my X Class setup. It *Should* be able to handle 8s no problem, but the ripple current from active breaking causes issues... all that current being filtered by the little legs on those caps... POOOF! Also could have been a limiter kicking it, throttling down an ESC at high throttle, which at high throttle... loosing power on an arm causes that kicking. Watching this video was like watching someone fall into the same pitfalls haha. Much love :D Great content, keep it up!
Zoe FPV thanks for the kind words and feedback, much appreciated! I’ve got quite the list of things that I’m checking and changing in hopes of getting this all sorted out.
I’ve got a Cannonball 800 frame on the way along with another set of APD electronics. I hope this doesn’t prove to be an issue there too.
I just went back to the bench and started to inspect each ESC very closely and it does appear that the cap on the right rear ESC 'may' be damaged. I'm going to replace all of them for good measure. Thank you again for the tip.
Bay Area FPV Knowledge is power!!!
It's not APD issues... Come on. Don't be so quick to point fingers. It's not about handling 8S either which they do fine. It's about drawing way too much current because of the heavy MAS 13x12 props. If you watch Tony's latest video he shows how running 485kv motors on 6S draws 350+ amps (per motor) as the prop spins up then the amp draw levels out. So with 545kv on 8S the initial amp draw could be even higher. Try a light weight carbon prop and see if you have better results @Bay Area FPV.
Fair enough. I’m never opposed to hearing and trying different setups. The ultimate end goal is to rip this Beast as fast as I can without turning it into a fireball...
Seeing as how the Graupner 14x8L E-props are pretty much impossible to get ahold of I’ll order some Aeronaut CAM props.
Can you turn the music down? Its really distracting.
Thank you for the feedback. I will keep that in mind for future videos and make certain to not have background music while speaking.
@@BayAreaFPV that would be great thanks
and make the intro a bit shorter not too much in your face, aside from that great vid was interesting to actually be there for the fault, I wasn't expecting it
Zac Johnson thank you for the feedback, much appreciated and heard. 😀
@@BayAreaFPV Agreed; get rid of the music. It's annoying generic crap that we hear on dozens/hundreds of other videos where creators don't want to pay for original music.
Also, agreed with the other user, cut the intro by about 13-14 seconds. We don't need to see your logo dancing to the music and zooming in and out and swirling around to yet more generic trap music. Show the name, move on and start the video. :)
Gonna start with how i love your content. But before I click any of your videos I always lower my vol. lol. that intro is loud. 🤙🏼
Less music or none at all would be better
Noted and thank you.
Best vid I have seen for ages.. and what a rig.... ... neat as...... especially liked the way you didnt edit out your mistakes..... and it was great to see you added the conclusion in with all the steps you took like disassembling the motors etc.... 10 points...... hope to see the flight that you expect to get out of this thing..... keep up the excellent work..... cheers from down under.
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I've received nearly all of the parts I was waiting on for the Hildabeast, so the next flight will happen this weekend! Stay tuned for the vid. 😎
Excellent drone here man, nice to see people like you advancing the Drone Community with your talent and skills! Tremendous thing your doing here man Great Job! Your an inspirator!!!
Thank you for the kind words.
This is what x class should be. 800mm with this prop size is too big and looks proportional to a 5in quad with 3in props. This looks really good and proportional to a 5in quad. Nice work!
Thank you! It does look pretty sweet!
It's so they have more stability and can provide fresh air to the props instead of disturbed are
@@jordanbass3210 this is a common misconception that longer arms are more stable and create less disturbed air so I doubt that's the reason. It's more likely because they want it to be bigger overall, however there isn't a racing spec motor and prop available to properly fit the size of 800mm arms. That's why I like this frame because the arm length is appropriate for the size of the props.
@@billster7100 yes that was the idea when designing the frame , exactly true , also it had to have a certain atmosphere design wise , that sticks in the mind .This is a rare beast , only 12 made so far , now V3 version 2 produced
That thing is a monster! And that sound... ooh my lordy I miss the beautiful hum of 10-11" props when compared to the shrill screech of smaller quads. Something so much more graceful about a big 500mm class quad.
Badass quad bro
I just subscribed
And can’t wait to see more 8s action
Thank you! There's definitely a lot more to come. 😎
The tip on the battery straps was much appreciated, I have been struggling with that, thanks heaps. That machine is a beast, I love it!
Glad it was able to help you find some solid straps.
I’m curious on this ripple current issue.. would , 2- 1000uf 50V capacitors in series on each esc help as a voltage shock absorber? ..then 2 on batt side? Also , if the legs on capacitors are popping.. tin the whole length of the legs with solder. Or wrap small copper wire around each leg to help w current. Just my 2c.. I want to see this thing gooooo!!!! Awesome!. It’s a BEAST!
Thank you! I’ll be taking it out again this weekend and hoping that things go better. Video to follow either way. ;)
Beautiful brother!
Thank you!
such a cute tail :D i love quads with tails!
Nice! That made me laugh ;)
I see you use solid solder I think? Is it better than rosin core the same diameter with flux? Thanks!
That thing is super cool. Wow!
Thank you! I’m determined to push this thing to the limits! 😈😈
I saw the current draw jump spike suddenly right before you lost control. Im thinking some sort of overcurrent protection kicked in. I dont think this was an issue with the antenna or rx. The rx didnt failsafe when you lost control. The osd also immediately responded to you disarming which means it was talking to the fc. Id be really cautious the next couple flights as i get the feeling this issue isnt resolved.
I dont know if your fc supports blackbox but if you can set it up it might not be a bad idea.
Thank you for the input and suggestion on the blackbox. The flight controller does have a blackbox option, so I’ll definitely be using it from now on. The next couple of flights will likely be very cautious and thoroughly documented.
Omg this is a gorgeous drone. 🤫 don't tell the wife I said that
Most beautiful quad I've seen yet great vid..subbed ya!!
Thank you VERY much! There’s a lot more to come! 😉
Sick flight!
Thank you!
Hi, I'm also building a Hildabeast and looking for the STL for the Motor Guards ... where did you get this from? Great video! Hope I have no problems with the ESC's ;-)
Replied to the thread on FB with the link just a min ago, but here it is again just in case. facebook.com/3dmatisse/
man that was a DESYNC. ***THROTTLE**** waring indicates lots of things but i say set your min_check higher... and give this beast more initial RPM :)
Thank you for the input. Do you mean min_throttle? Or in the case of DShot / ProShot digital_idle_percent?
I found this and I am thinking that it is VERY likely a desync and caused by too low of a base idle percent. It was set to 7 when this and the previous desync occurred. Based on the AUW of the Hildabeast (9lbs 12oz), my research has shown that the base idle speed will likely need to be higher. I have it set to 10 now.
Also, I found this and feel it too re-enforces what you and others have said regarding the desync.
"in 3.1.2 and up so now digital_idle_percent Only sets the Dshot idle speed. Be aware that Dshot ESCs can run motors at much slower speeds but if the idle speed is too low the motor may Stall in flight during hard maneuvers and you get a 'death roll'. If this happens, increase the value of digital_idle_percent."
github.com/betaflight/betaflight/wiki/DSHOT-ESC-Protocol
That thing looks awesome and at the same time scary
That thing is a beast!!!!
Thanks! Just wait until I get these last couple issues sorted out and can actually open it up... 😈
Love your Hildabeast videos man! Follow along this awesome journey. How did you get the AMP reading out of the APD ESCs. Over the Telemetry wire of each ESC bundled together to the PDB and than into an UART Rx port to the FC. With BF 4.3 the AMP reading is limited to 63,5A per Motor. so how did you get this working? Did you bild something special with a Shunt or so?
Awesome drone. Greeting from your new friend 🙏❤️👍🍺🍺
Thank you!!!
Looking forward to the next flight.
Likely going to happen this weekend. She's all prepped and ready.
I totally refuse to believe that this quad is actually heavier that my heaviest MaX-8 (8 Feet + flying wing) now I'm thinking about getting my hands on one! This is a really awesome video!!!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video! There’s more to come...
What a BEAST 👁🤘
Thanks!
4:56 😂 👊😎 nice video man!
Maven FPV thank you! More on the way.
Interesting choice for straps! My go-to have been Voile straps, meant for strapping skis to the car. Nice thick rubber straps with aluminium buckles.
I can clearly see this pull 300A on a full throttle from the esc’s/batteries, that’s is crazy when I used to pull 100 on 5 inch build, keep the good work!
Thanks! Got more on the way.
Great job! Love the quad rips for bleeps! Hey was that my logo?👍🏁🏁🏁 TS✌️
DD Yodaman Thank you for helping make this video possible.
what do you get, 8minutes air time?
Yes! Micro X class 🤘
Why not, right! 😈🌶️
It's definitely a beast!
Thank you
13kw beast! definitely looked like a desync of some kind in the air and is often a result of a dodgy wire too or from the esc
Looking into both as a possibility. Thanks for the tip.
Sorry about the crash but it sounds like you've got it all sorted and you'll be ready to try again when the new props come in. Best of luck!
mountaindewdude76 Thank you, I’ll get it all sorted and when I do... ;)
@@BayAreaFPV keep sharing your videos. Im following along with your experiences
great video!!!!...got the hildagard because of your build video!!! loving these monster builds
Thank you for the kind words. There’s some proper X-Class 12S action (including a build video) in the near future.
that's exactly what happened to mine, full throttle and lost power to the drone at 75 feet alt, broke camera but propellers were ok. I'm still wondering what really happened. Nice quad by the way. Where is this area were you're flying? I live in Santa Clara close to Kaiser and only had flown in a park behind my house.
Sorry to hear about your crash. The place in the video is Baylands Park in Sunnyvale. Stop by sometime. There’s always people flying something there.
@@BayAreaFPV Thank you, usually you go on weekends? Would love to see you flying your baby, to feel the adrenaline. I couldn't fly a quad, too fast for me. I have Parkinson's and is as it is very hard to manage the control of my drone.
@@BayAreaFPV I saw on their website Balloons and kites not allowed I guess because of birds, but quads or drones are ok? hum, do I have to ask for permission? here I asked San Jose Towers and was told I'm ok to fly at Earl Carmichael park. But being so close to Moffett field no problem there?
RC in general have be allowed at Baylands park for many years. Everything except gas or turbine. People fly jets, planes, helis, drones, homemade thingama-what-the-heck-was-that’s and everything in between. 😁 no permission needed. I do typically go there on weekends. Not sure about this coming weekend though. Checkout the Bayareafpv Facebook group I post in there when and where it’ll be flown. There’s lots of others there too...

@@BayAreaFPV Ok will see you then and hopefully can take a few photos and video with you guys.
Hey im a veteran and heard racing drones are good therapy for ptsd I love racing drones havnt been able to purchase one wish I could they are really interesting to me unfortunately unable to afford at the time having a hard time getting my benefits but maybe one day
It's the batteries. I had 2 Lumineer 4s 1300mah that did the same thing....punched out and they dropped voltage to like 10v in seconds and my quad dropped out of the sky.
I’ll keep that in mind for the flight this weekend. Thanks for the tip.
Glad to see I'm not the only one that checks CG on a quadcopter
I figure any little bit that I can do manually to lessen what the flight controller has to compensate for, can’t be a bad thing. 😎
I check mine! When it's in the air and I'm flying. :D
Whatever works ;)
The confusing bit for me is where people say the cg is. Some go by the middle of the frame and some make the fc the cg. it will fly better if the middle of the frame is the cg so I just do that. What do you think ?
I think that the more balancing that you can do in the building of the quad the better it will fly overall and the less the fc will have to compensate for a poorly balanced machine. ;)
Incredible machine, will be better next time 👍
Whatkind of harnes do you use for your transmitter looks awsome and practical
The harness is great! I love not having it around my neck. Here’s the link to the harness. alofthobbies.com/revoc-trans-double-harness.html
@@BayAreaFPV thanks man and i still love that huge big ass machine just awsome
I’m curious where ur getting ur speed readings from? Fc? With barometer or gps?. I’d like to do same.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME
It’s actually coming from the GoPro. Here’s an article about how it is accomplished. Hope this helps.
gopro.com/help/articles/Block/How-to-Use-Gauges-in-Quik-for-Desktop
Very good.. thanks for reply!
Just FYI the gopro speedometer is inaccurate asf like its not even close to what your real speed is. U could go 165mph & it would simply say 65 like no shit they are terribly off
The highest amp draw I saw was 318 Amps. Maybe it over amped and cut throttle?
Ikr
I can’t be the only one think, could it have been the wiring you cobbled together because of the connector ends? That’s all I got. Nice quad can’t wait to see it bust 100.
Keep em comming.
Great video man!
Thank you
Love the video and the detailed info. Found myself turning the volume down trying to turn down the music so I could hear your voice, lol. Definitely a mistake in audio mixing when dishing out that info we want so much. Music for flying, clarity for instruction. I live in Emeryville and just started FPV this past year. Been building 5inch, 6inch, and whoops like crazy lately. Would love to meet up with some other fpv addicts and see some new flying spots.
What mah is your 4s lipos that you link in series?
5200
@@BayAreaFPV Crap, I bought 2200 Mah, do you think I could get like 3 mins of flight with 2200 mah?
Thanks Good luck on the next flight you will get it done
Good luck with your quad !
Video starts at 7:23
Vertical orientation is best to get away from the carbon. Also it would help if your TX antenna was matching polarity with the RX antenna. You simply shouldn't be getting anything less than 99% LQ that close.
I’ve got a couple of the new Crossfire Nano diversity RX’s on order. I plan to run one Immortal T (where it is currently) and then also a Dipole mounted vertically as high as I can get it. That and a few other minor revisions and she should be all set... hopefully ;)
Is it the first time flying that beast? or is it the first time you have put that much power to the props? Because it is quite possible that the props broke from that amount of power causing the crash. It has happen to me with 6 inch props with 4s
Uhm i think those batt doesn't suppose to drop voltage to significant on throttle.... I only observe those when the battery can't handle the load or it is bad overall.....
Epic!!!
Where did you get your goggle wrapped from. I can't see the design but it looks sweet can you send us a link
I did them myself. Here’s the video... ruclips.net/video/2SFGJcancQc/видео.html
Is it possible your props let go? I don't know those props or what they are made of but usually props bend. Those were missing blades intirely like the exploded.
Been using Kevlar battery straps for almost 2 years I'm not sure why anyone would use anything else they even have seatbelt material ones
How did you make that HUD? I fly the same FC and would like to set OSD up the same way.
It actually an overlay that is done in the GoPro Software. As long as you have a Hero 5,6, or 7 then you should be able to do it. GoPro has a great tutorial on it. Just google GoPro gauges
TY :-)
So cool man i love the bigger quads, i bet once you fix it up maybe change a few things that would be a killer freestyle quad. but as it sits thats amazing good job, im subscribed please do more stuff like this video. the big quads are so cool. And please no more music save that for the youtube vloggers, you are super informative i want to hear what you have to say.
Nick Covington thank you for the kind words and the feedback on the video. I appreciate it.
Nice Video
Thank you
No sé pero me encanta este quad gigantes 💯🤤
Gracias. Me alegra que hayas disfrutado el video.
Are you sure there isn't a single fet short?
My first set caught on fire and blew the caps off on 31 seconds in to the maiden. My second set blew on the bench while i was on tech support with adp.
First failure was too high of back voltage during braking and the caps just couldn't keep it down. Second failure was unknown, they're on the way back to adp.
My setup is 12s, t10 330kv, 14x8.5, 4 470uf per esc.
I will double check the ESC’s again. But they all seem to be in excellent condition at all of the solder joints and also do not have any visible damage.
I’m going to be using the blackbox on the Radix from now on, so if this does happen again hopefully it’ll be easier to diagnose.
Another problem you may have is slew rate lagging into the next command towards the end of the flight. I had to switch back to an analog protocol with my f1000/dys 70a to keep it from dropping an arm. Easy to check with blheli but that apd proprietary firmware....
Lot of kv for 8s and those props. I'll do 3kw on my t10's but not so much on f1000's.
Good luck. Big quads are hell.
Brian Koch I have actually been considering swapping out the motors for lower KV. I might just order some T10’s and be done with it. Thanks for the suggestion.
Fat windings and the pre-loadable annular lower bearings. Cheaper than f1000's too.
I’m looking at the T10 Pros 330kv
directvoltage.com/shop/dronesuav/drone-quadcopter-motors/brotherhobby-tornado-5215-t10-pro-x-class-330kv/
I might be wrong here. But it didnt look like a failsafe RSSI looked good until you hit the ground. All though crossfire antenna placement is important especially when going a couple hundred yards or long range. When i first started using crossfire i was lazy and didnt care much about where the crossfire antenna was mounted? Against the carbon arms etc..anywhere i could zip tie it. I still use the TPU exstention off the standoffs and never had a failsafe unless there was a wire or antenna broke! Beautiful Beast Build you got there. Hopefully you get it sorted. Love the content..Subbed😀
What antennas are u running on raido and goggles?
Termite43 VAS Diamond on the Crossfire TX. Mad Mushroom and Pepperbox on the goggles. Hope that helps you.
Great looking rig!
Wouldn’t you get a osd failsafe warning? Rssi looked good even when tumbling?
I thought the same thing. But when I dig into the crash the only thing that seems to add up is a failsafe. ALL of the components are still functioning correctly and without issue. I was just chatting with Charles (the creator of the Hildabeast) and he mentioned that he is using special antennas for his due to the sheer amount of carbon in play here. I am going to try out these magical antennas, as well as likely swap the Crossfire Nano for one of the new Crossfire Nano Diversity RX's
Love the journey of this beast so far!! I need more!! Only thing that would make the video better would be quieter music during the talking. Can't wait for this missile to be locked in and screaming 100+ mph!!
Angelo Faraday Thank you for the kind words and the feedback on the audio. You’re not the only one to mention that. The next video will have no music during the talking parts. I’ve herd you guys loud and clear. ;)
@@BayAreaFPV Mike Stevens has a video on how he makes taller antennas. for the long antennas I use 400mm frsky ufl antenna from aloft hobbies - just cut down to size with 78mm of active antenna to where I solder the ground wire onto the mesh casing. super easy. I'm trying to get a TPU mount for my beast build currently. I can let you know how it works if you want. ruclips.net/video/-ux0TSUU2hc/видео.html
What an AWESOME QUAD! EXCELLENT JOB! The highest amp draw I could see was 285.51 @ 10:38 into the video. I'm not sure what the Hildabeast's limit is but that seems crazy high, however, considering you didn't mention anything about it I'm guessing it wasn't an issue? Just an FYI: In addition to the hefty straps you use, I highly recommend you get some heavy duty velcro with 3M sticky backing to put on your batteries and battery tray. Put the soft side of the velcro on your batteries and the rigid side on your drone/battery tray. This way you can secure your batteries directly onto your drone using the velcro, then additionally cinch them down using the hefty straps (don't cinch them down too tight though, not necessary when also using velcro on the batts & drone, just pull them nice and snug, I think you kinda over did it in the video, which may have contributed to them braking, but I digress). This is what I did on my T-Rex 450 Helicopter after having the crappy, cheap straps fail. After I did this I never, EVER had an issue with my batteries coming loose again.
Excellent point, thank you!
@@BayAreaFPV You're very welcome. So what was the peak amp drawl that occurred during this flight and was is the cause of the malfunction?
At 10:41 when I disarm the quad you can see that the peak amp draw reached 407A ☠️☠️
I believe that it was most likely an ESC desync. Unfortunately I didn’t have any blackbox data for this flight, so it best guess really. But I’ve made several changes that have been recommended here in the comments in preparation for the next flight this weekend.
@@BayAreaFPV 407 AMP's, WOW! Considering that the biggest RC Heli I've ever built and flown was only a T-Rex 450, that seems CRAZY HIGH, however I know very little about quads/multi-copters, especially large X-Class models like this. So what is the maximum safe amp limit of Hildabeast? Also, what ESC's and Motors do you need for her (what amp rating for the ESC's and size/KV for the motors)? This is probably a dumb question, but are you familiar with the brand Kontronik? If not, just FYI: They manufacturer some of THE BEST quality Motors & ESC's on the planet, NO JOKE! They're NOT cheap components by any means, however, their build quality, durability/longevity and performance are practically second to none. So if you're building a special project or flagship drone, where cost isn't a big concern, then I highly, HIGHLY recommend you check out their line of Motors and ESC's. When I built my T-Rex 450 Helicopter I went through two ESC's that failed (I tried to build it on a tight budget at first, but quickly realized that you get what you pay for). The first ESC I got was a cheap Hobby King that was DOA on arrival, the 2nd one was a Castle Creations ICE, which I was told are great ESC's, but unfortunately mine almost caught on fire during its 2nd flight. I then did a LOT of research on what are the best brands of ESC's. During that research, one brand in particular stood out with excellent/rave reviews, and an almost cult like following, some claiming it to be the end all be all of Speed Controllers. At this point I'm sure its no surprise that brand was in fact, KONTRONIK! So I pulled the trigger on a Kontronik Jazz-40 (this was back in 2010, the JAZZ line has since been discontinued/replaced with their newer KOBY line) and NEVER LOOKED BACK! It performed SO MUCH BETTER than the other brands I was amazed, it truly was THAT GOOD! So if you have the cash to spend, just humor me and check out Kontronik. Without knowing what specs your drone requires I can't really suggest a particular model, however, their newer KOSMIK line of ESC's, as well as their PYRO & SPIDER-X line of motors are LEGENDARY! Almost 100% of people who have owned & used Kontronik say they won't settle for anything less on special projects or flagship builds. www.kontronik.com/en/?content=1
+1👍 mega-build: check, pushing limits: check, crash-tastic test: check. lol, glad you've got some fantastic feedback here.
i absolutely love "hacking" things with odd parts like plastic spoons! ;)
nice video
Thank you!
Hi.. May I know which area this was ?
Baylands Park in Sunnyvale CA
That sounded like an ESC desync to me. Big azz motors like these need some adjustments in Blheli settings and/or you might want to try Multishot.
Matthew Labonte Thanks for the tip. I am looking into that too as a possibility. I just hope that the fact that the ESC’s and motors are top of the line, and I am running ProShot1000 that I wouldn’t have issues with de-syncing...
@@BayAreaFPV de-sycing is just an odd word for many causes.... check your cycle time stability, and do black box if possible :)
@@BayAreaFPV I tried ProShot 1000 for a week and had the same thing happen regularly in spite of the solid programming behind proshot. Switched back to Dshot (for 5") and the issue has been gone ever since (approx 1 year). Beautiful build!
Thanks for the input. What esc's were you using Proshot on that were giving you issues?
@@BayAreaFPV On 5" i was (and still am) using the holybro tekko 32 4in1 on 6s, 1650kv motors. Currently using dshot1200.
Did you design this?
Whats the top speed??
ShureLock So far 95mph but we’re going to break 100 very soon or turn this thing into a fireball trying. 😁🔥
Thats awesome!
Too me it looks like your fc reset mid flight as you were drawing over 300amps. Voltage sag from batteries, not enough power to esc, therefore bec shut down. I reccomend separate power supply for fc. Can be very small
Do you gps on it I notice the compass was acting up before take off going north south and lagging when flyn. Also I have had problems before with GoPro position can sometimes cause signal problems also just check you numbers to see when it's on what you get then off. would like I hear if anyone else has notice this problem? . I 1st notice it when my phantom 3 gimbal went down I put a go pro on it cause major signal problems
great
Thank you
just like share subscribe and tap bell icon i need to grow my channel i am uploading a video of a full tutorial of making a drone with apm 2.8 with setup using mission planner
amazing quad!!!!those battery straps look just like fixed freestyle pedal straps like the holdfast straps.
LycanFPV Thank you! And yes, the straps are ridiculous. :)
All up weight of my 900mm y6 with 8000mah 6s is only 7lb 12.3 oz. Crazy that thing weighs more than that.
I too was a little shocked at how heavy the Hildabeast is. But... I’ll gladly take the extra weight in exchange for durability. You’ve seen the couple crashes that have occurred... The only damage has been broken props. 😎
@@BayAreaFPV it is a beast that's for sure. My y6 is using rctimer x5 400kv motors, sinmonk 40a esc and 15x5.5 props. Wonder if I could I run the slightly smaller 13inch 3 blade props without to much strain on my electronics. As is it's way overpowered and hovers at 35% throttle.
It might be possible. One thing that you want to take into consideration is that these MAS 13X12X3 props are heavy, which will also add to the load.
@@BayAreaFPV awesome I'll take that into consideration. Thanks for taking time to reply. Subbed and belled looking forward to seeing more.
How can you made the drone like that since you dont know how to conect bateries
Nicht schlecht👍
No more music please, it ruins the video.
I'd really recommend checking every power path. Passthrough is fine on smaller quads, but 13000 Watts through a PCB trace? That's more than twice as much required to trip a 16A fuse on 400V three-phase-power. Have you seen the cables used for this? Maybe the problem is something entirely different (haven't watched all of your recent vids), but I'd directly power the ESCs with thick wire.
Blacky372 holy moly you know your stuff, if I have questions on my drone setting up everything as it’s all new equipment and I’m not too knowledgeable at any of this, but really want to learn.
I’m not an xclass guy, but have run some high power edf jets in the past...to me that power lead looks way too long, I know it’s probably cleaner and easier to run out the back. But it looks 12” long. Why not run a much shorter 4-5” pigtail right out the side, and avoid all the voltage drop that that cable is definitely giving you at 400 amps
100% agree and made those very changes. Check out the newest video for all of the improvements.

‘Tis a beast
Indeed 😉😎
Would recommend as a tech my self I would add all the wattage draw of if equipment used and add the proper discharge voltage and a should be higher of the total equipment draw and also love the video I also like my large drone builds
Wow! 🤩
to me that absolutly looks like a esc desync (flip of death) i used to have this when my min throttle (idle) was to low and/or the blhelis settings doesnt fit to a powerhorse setup
Where can I find those props that u have used in this build
Mohammed Fahad, master airscrew, he says so closer to the end of the video.
Sorry bout the double comment but it’s probably a dumb question weight issueand all but why not cover the c.f. In non conducting coating like a dip? Pros cons seems weird electronics carbon fibre and the whole no better durable material.
you have plenty of room on that beast to mount the crossfire antenna properly.. vertical. Just a thought..
holy crap
try the diversity receiver from TBS and put your immortal Ts off the back arms (check how Joshua Bardwell does it). That'll keep them out of the way when you crash.
Thanks for the tip. I’ve got some of the new Crossfire Nano diversity receivers on the way. I’ll look into the mounting options.
at 10:38 -> 31 volt * 318 Amps are 9858 watts... wow. I Think thats too much Amps... try 12S
Going to 12S but need to swap out the motors first.
but very clean and nice setup - i love it!
Looks like a desync to me... drew much more amps when you punched up high... had a similar problem before and after tryibg every setting in blheli different motors it was the escs..
Thank you for the input. I too am thinking that it must be a desync based on what evidence I have available. Hopefully it doesn't happen again, but if it does, I will at least have all of the blackbox data.
@@BayAreaFPV yup blackbox will help for sure i think its back left esc causes motor to fail.. interested to see the results... its a beastly frame for sure im going for 8inch frame so will follow you're journey !
ESC signal wires maybe better if twisted around the esc signal-ground wire
a diversity nano receiver may be a good idea in the future, with a tall homemade antenna and an immortal T on an arm = zero null areas anywhere. Not sure it was your receiver though with a minimum RSSI of 82. could be a number of things, including motor timing parameters within your ESCs. good luck trouble shooting! waiting to see what happens with the next flight.
macejc101 Thank you for the advice. I have the CRSF Nano diversity receivers on order and hope to have them within a week or so. I’m also looking into timing. I’m running ProShot1000 and these ESC’s are supposed to be the best. So paired with the T-Motor F1000 545kv’s I really hope that things aren’t de-syncing
@@BayAreaFPV building a 570 'beast now with a diversity receiver myself. bardwell just had a good series of videos on motor timing with blheli. lower KV motors have some different considerations for sure in terms of needing a mid to lower frequency. finding information about it though can be challenging. any chance a motor was damaged on the first crash from a few weeks ago?
+macejc101 The motors all seem to be in great shape still and all have been thouroughly inspected. I’m going to be using the blackbox moving forward, in addition to a couple very cautious flights to really try and get this sorted out.
The frame is put of stock and they don't list a price.I would like the price plz. Thanks for the videos!
The frames are custom cut to order. Here’s a link to the Facebook page. I would recommend sending a message to Stefan with any purchase inquiries. m.facebook.com/groups/standinquaddesign/?ref=group_header
@@BayAreaFPV thanks bro!
They are "bad people" best rant on UUUU--Tube. ;-)
I have thought that a few ultracaps (the high current type) would be a good idea. That little electrolytic cap looks like a straight up bodge to me. It might also be worth the weight to put some snubber caps between the motor lines. The ultracaps should probably be right at the power inputs for the esc's.
