    • @OldCaliboy
      @OldCaliboy 2 года назад +1

      @@wakkaflakkadown I'm still getting use to this large quad. It's the PID's thats getting to me. My quad would lift off and hover around and do a few punch outs. After a few moment it would get into a strong oscillating wobble causing it to flip and crash. It would take me long at all if it was a full kit that was properly tuned. Get someone who can tuned your quad and it should be much easier to manage.

    • @wakkaflakkadown
      @wakkaflakkadown 2 года назад +2

      @@OldCaliboy Sounds like you built yours yourself? There are clearly advantages to that with the parts being expensive and all, and it’s got to be rewarding. I’m looking at one built by Catalyst Works. Hopefully buying the pre-built X Class quad will keep me from wondering if it’s me or the quadcopter making it misbehave. It seems like smaller Pid errors would really show up in a big quad, but that doesn’t necessarily make them easier to eliminate I’m guessing! 😳🙂

    Nice video. I get the whole x-class is bigger to be seen at events and you can get the same setup on a smaller frame which is beast-class but still can't help wonder looking at it if we are really looking at an x-class light configuration. When you look at it, it looks scaled like a 5" quad with 3" props on. To really kit out this form factor you could add the max allowable propeller size plus lower kv motors and a 16s battery. Tune it to get the top speed up at 150mph+. 😆

    Back in 2005 or 6 I purchased one of the first RC drones available. I cannot remember much about it other than it cost a lot and I crashed it on day one, damaging it irreparably. It looked similar to one that came out a few years back called the "Parrot". That was before there was all the gadgets that helped it fly with ease. I thought that I'd be able to fly it because I flew airplane pretty good. But it was a totally different beast. I have been hesitant about trying again because they are expensive and I am cheap.

    I just felt my first 8S drone. Just a quick question. If I tell the flight controller, it's an 8s battery. Will that be enough for the tune? I'm not even sure if I'm asking the right question

    Try an infrared Thermo gun to monitor battery and prop temp.

    reminds me of the time I was back on full consensus and I went there to play with drones. What was that, 5, 6 years ago? Maybe Destin remembers..
