- Hype for Godzilla x Kong is at an all time high, and as the 5th theatrical entry in the MonsterVerse on the 70th anniversary for Godzilla, it has a lot riding on its shoulders! Their marketing has been at full capacity, will billboards showing up across the world, and countless tv spots releasing to try and draw audiences in. But current projections have the film underperforming at the Box Office... But here is what we have to say about it.

The critics score is almost always pretty low, especially for these types of movies. Don’t listen to them. Watch it yourself. The audience is what really matters.

As long as the people reading and leaving comments see the movie in the theater it’s gonna do well. This is the biggest anticipation for a monsterverse movie so far.
Me and the family will be seeing this film at the cinema. Then I’ll buy it on 4K and buy it digitally off iTunes. So I’ll be contributing roughly $150 Australian dollars to the MonsterVerse for this film alone. All up, I’ve probably contributed $500 Australian dollars to the MonsterVerse.

The criticis have made a lot of complaints in the past in the monster verse movies.
In 2014, they said there wasn’t enough monster action , in the next movie they said there wasn’t enough human action.

That’s a strawman argument. No one said there wasn’t enough humans in KOTM, people complained that the human characters in KOTM were frickin’ TERRIBLE. Mind you that scenes with the human characters still made up roughly 75% of KOTM’s runtime. If 75% of your movie is filled with stock characters that are barely watchable, then it’s going to be hard to enjoy your movie as a whole. Yes, critics do get it wrong a lot of times, but their criticisms with each monsterverse films have been mostly justified. Not to mention MOST monsterverse movie actually got decent reviews from critics. The only one that didn’t was KOTM and for good reason. Stop being a blind fanboy.
@@windowsVD agreed 100%, did a marathon of the monsterverse to get ready for GxK and man KOTM was ROUGH after watching 2014. It's like the directors never got together to compare notes and keep a consistent tone throughout the series. It's like they each wanted to do their own thing per entry.

I don't go by whatever the critics have to say 90% of the time. I'm sure this will not only make its money back, but the Monsterverse will continue on in film AND TV. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a full-on Video Game adaptation.

It'll be good. BUT, When the budgets are so high, anything can be considered a flop. For example, Minus One was "successful" because, it only had a only 15 million dollar budget and made over 100 million.
GxK has like a 200 million dollar budget. So pulling in anything less than 400/500 million will be considered a flop by Hollywood's overzealous standards. They think spending all the money in the world on a movie will make people flock to the movies, but then scratch their heads in confusion if a big blockbuster "under performs". I compare it to big corporations who make it sound like they are "struggling" because, they made 5 billion last year and this year only.."lol ONLY" made 3 billion and Now, they are considered failing.
I agree. Then you have movies like "Get Out" or "Joker" that overperform and doesn't have mega budgets. When you need to throw 200 million on a movie for it to be distributed properly, there is a very big risk of anything being a flop.
Minus 1's budget is unknown, it's not specifically 15 million. Yamazaki already debunked that.
@@Kaiju-bm4ts I was being Generous. It's not unknown.. I saw it was actually estimated to be 10-12 million. Proving even more, that all the money in the world doesn't guarantee success and that you can make a good profitable movie even on a small budget.

Personal I think it will do well because the majority do the people who come to see this movie only come to see big monsters fight. Because of how much of the runtime the titans will be on screen for in this movie, I can see people talking about it which will encourage other people that also want more of the monster fights to go and see the movie. I’m hoping but also think that worldwide it will surpass $600M in the box office.
Whats funny is that these same critics praise movies like Last Jedi, giving it a 90% fresh score while movies like King of the Monsters have been bashed for not being deep and thought provoking. Then again, critics are paid to say whatever their supervisors say regardless if the critic enjoyed the film or not.
I’ve been to channels that cover topics like that and former employee’s have said that they are told to either give positive or negative reviews, anything that goes against the status quo is not seen for a long time. We’ve seen it time and time again which begs the question, what is the point of critics when they see something before you do? To them, its all about the cliques and early access. Sounds like the it crowd in high school.
I stopped listening to critics years ago. Why listen to someone say something about a piece of media when you can see said media and form your own opinion?
I’ve been saying it since seeing Godzilla Minus One. That movie has set some kind of precedent that every monster movie has to be deep with compelling characters. That is not the case. If it was, then the series would have died decades ago. New Empire is not trying to be Minus One, it’s main purpose is just like most movies: to entertain. It is escapism and Godzilla and Kong are some of the biggest characters to grace the silver screen and they are popular for a reason.
So will GxK flop? I doubt that. If it doesn’t make enough money from theaters, then the fans will buy a lot of the merchandise. That’s how KotM was able to bounce back.
Just forget what the critics say. I hate a lot of the films they praise and they hate a lot of the films that I love.
In other words, I’m not worried.

This happened back with GVK during 2020 of COVID 19 but Godzilla Vs. Kong still survived it's way to Cinema screens I beileve that GXK The New Empire will defentily save The Monsterverse plus it's not really up to fans that wants it to end it's really up to TOHO cause they own Godzilla and other kaiju

I work for the theatre and GxK is coming out what’s called a choke week which basically means it’s coming out along side other big names Ghostbusters and Kung Fu Panda this is what happened with the D&D movie a good movie flopping cause it was chocked out by the computation so it’s a chance but it might do well

Isn't kung fu panda out already? It'll be three weeks for that movie to die down and frozen empire will have a week for the general public to spread the word that it's a shit movie. So I think GxK will be fine.
The D&D movie also released barely a month after Dungeons and Dragons fans boycotted D&D over Hasbro/WoTC attempting to strong arm the entire 3rd party TTRPG market. (Boycott was a smashing success though)

It doesn’t matter if they say it’s too unrealistic or the comedy is forced, it’s still just an opinion and you shouldn’t take anything they say with a grain of salt because they might actually like it, but are just giving bad reviews for fun.
The Kaiju genre is a very small niche compared with comic book movies like Marvel. The Marvel fans and the normies go to the theater to see another superhero movie, they don't even know that the Monsterver exist so if the movie doesn't make enough money it's not necessarily because it's a bad movie.

Kaiju fighting is part of the Godzilla lore this is what we’ve been asking for, and about bloody time! Destroy all monsters was one of the first ones to pit all Kaiju against Ghidorah and it blew our minds, I just hope the critics can see a film can be fun as well as have a decent storyline

I told my gf about what critic reviews said on the new movie imaginary and she didn't listen. Halfway through the movie she called it bootleg and we were covering our mouths from laughing so hard at how horrible the acting was we left halfway through so it helps sometimes

@@Mr.Wetherilli no, but I’d at least take his word over some of the critics. Besides, Madame Webb was a movie that nobody wanted and the trailers didn’t make anybody excited for it. So even if Sam were to say that, I wouldn’t care either way.

This is the same thing that happened with king of the monsters. Critics reviews fuckin suck. King of the monsters turned out to be the most popular monsterverse movie.
Always look at the audience score and not the critics. Modern day critics want films to showcase a hidden message about society or some bs like that
I hate to say, but Minus One took all my investment from these movies. I only care for Toho films at this point. I love King of the Monsters but not a fan of the direction these movies have taken. I hope it succeeds for the fans here, but if Godzilla v Kong is any indication of the writing, it’s gonna be crap

That title scared the crap out of me, but at the same time so what if the movie flops they won’t stop making them with all the money the get for toy sells, marketing etc.
