This makes him the most evil Kaiju we’ve seen so far, even more so than Ghidorah. All the other wvil kaijus were still acting on there instinct, they just didn’t care about how much damages they caused or who they injured. @@florians9949Ghidorah is also pretty malicious, he wanted to destroy the Earth so he could terraform it to his liking, and he also takes pleasure in killing humans, even when they’re not posing a threat to him. Skar King also has malice, but is more… *human* kind of malice; he derives pleasure of inflicting pain & suffering upon others, and is consciously making the decision to perform cruel deeds. Kinda wish we not only got to see more of skar king being a huge threat but wish they went with a concept where as a special ability to where he’s absorbed so much of the hollow earth energy he proved to be a threat to Godzilla.
That's kind of what I was practically hoping for as well since his eyes constantly glow light blue, which is something that happens to Godzilla whenever he powering up his Atomic Breath where his eyes light up the same way as his dorsal fins do since 2019.
Come on, this is an interesting concept as Skar uses his skill, tools, and weapons to fight his opponents. It doesn’t always have to be special powers to make one a capable threat
@@pedropaulocarvalho4554 yes, he has a special weapon which is enough. Along with his empire and special sadistic nature in enjoyment of the suffering of others.
It kind of makes you wonder what Skar King would've done with the humans had there been no one to stop him. Would he have just had humanity wiped off the face of the earth or would he have potentially tried to enslave them similarly to his own people, but for different purposes? Gosh, just imagining a Kaiju enslaving humans is bizarre, and yet, so interesting.
The novelitzation specifies he was about to bring a new Ice of Age using the power of Shimo, so we would've been likely wiped out. Doubt Skar would had much use for us anyway
if he got the ice age started it would have wiped out most of humanity and he would have probably used the kongs to root out anywhere the last humans holed up
@@ennieminymoo6675 Do you think he'd survive a couple nukes? I'm pretty sure only Godzilla or Shimo could take that. Godzilla, he'd just use it to power up. Shimo, idk how she'd react.
Not Scar King, humans would’ve killed him with nuclear weapons. Couldn’t do that with Godzilla cause of radiation but with him it is possible. Idk about the ice monster
Now that Kong is in charge, I hope moves his kind out of that awful cavern. Perhaps to the old Kong Temple in GvK (if it’s still standing). I can’t see why Skar King would ever choose to make that their home other than him wanting to make the other apes miserable and to occasionally push them into lava.
That's honestly probably exactly why he lived there. To keep those low on the totem pole demoralized and discourage a notion of rebellion. Plus, probably something to do with keeping Shimo locked up.
And in the end, he was stripped of everything that made him powerful. He was without his army on the surface and forced to fight Godzilla and Kong in a challenging 2v2 without some auto-win card. His whip was destroyed, depriving him of his weapon, and finally, his control over Shimo was destroyed. You could see how angry and desperate he was when Kong had him in an iron-grip before Shimo froze him. An incredibly satisfying death.
Skar King became one of my favorite Monsterverse villains right next to King Ghidorah. Personally, I would freeze Skar King and have him return in a future Monsterverse movie where he would team up with other kaiju villains.
When I saw this in the theatres, I never expected for my heart to break like this. This even made me want Skar King to die already. Especially when he brought out Shimo, I could see the pain and torture in her eyes. Like even at the end of the movie and she stares into the sky, you can tell that Shimo looked so happy.
Scar king may look weak cuz he relies on his army and shimo but there was that aura tha thing that made him like a psycho he is one of the most terrifying in both mv and toho
I loved this movie. My only gripe with GXK was I felt it should’ve been a KONG solo film. Don’t get me wrong the Godzilla scenes are amazing. The story just feels more catered towards KONG. The whole finding your species and another alpha is in the way of the thrown just felt perfect for KONG. Plus I wanted more scar king.
This is exactly why skar king is my favourite villain in overall kaiju history. He shows his personality of evilness. This analysis showed alot of this. I love this, keep tue amazing work up dangerville 👍🏾
I think it would've been interesting if Skar King became an Alpha Titan within the deeper layer of the Hollow Earth with many other Titans aiding him on his conquest for the surface. There could even be some additional stakes of Skar King unleashing an Alpha call if he reaches the surface, causing all the surface Titans to go on a rampage.
THIS would have made him actually terrifying!! Not just a bully that uses outside means (the whip, Shimo and any other way to demoralize others) to overpower others, but actually something of himself, a power within.
@@DigitalXAddictHonestly I'm kind of fine with him not being just a powerhouse for Godzilla and Kong. I would've liked if he had been smarter which I think he is smarter than how he was portrayed in the movie. I would love Skar to be a villain that relies on cunning intelligence and resources instead of just power
@@KingAshtray I mean, sure. I agree it would be interesting, but he was portrayed very dependend of his 2 power-tools, instead of being actually smart. I don't see him as a terifying character, I just see the situation that such an idiot/jerk of a character has access to such powerful means as terrifying. But Skar himself is a whimp in my eyes, atleast how he was portrayed in the movie. intended or not.
@@DigitalXAddict The whole POINT is that he's not that strong and has to use outside means. Why the heck would they do the whole "power within" thing for a VILLAIN?
@@AzureRoxe And what's your point right now? Because nobody questioned the reasoning for his behaviour. And your second question is pointless after King Ghidorah. We got multiple different takes on villains. Pure instinct-driven (Muto), dominating power (King Ghidorah), human corruption (Mecha G) and now a tool-dependend tyrant (Skar).
Another terrifying thing about the Scar King is the way he has a handful a number of mates turned into forced harem breed infants to possibly increase his army…. similar to how an ape lives in polygamous harem groups in real life.
I thought all the baby kongs in the thrown room had red fur. My sister pointed it out and said "Mayde its like lions, and he's the only one aloud to mate."
The more you think about it the more biblical themes appear, like Godzilla was the one who imprisoned Skar king in the hollow earth and god casted Satan into the deepest part of earth,I mean Godzilla/God these details here are excellent
@@rextho3656 In Shin Gojira they say it means "God Incarnate" one of the island the doctor who disappeared at the beginning of movie is from and I rather believe that than regular language pun. I know you are not incorrect but I rather take in lore explanation rather than real world explanation.
What makes Skar King so unique among previous Monsterverse villains is how rather than being a mere animal, a force of nature, or a quasi-deity of sorts, he's a dictator, a tyrant, a warmonger and a slave master. He is a very *human* kind of evil.
Skar King was awesome, and I'm glad they chose a new villain instead of bringing back a Toho classic monster. The creativity behind Skar King was amazing. Even though he was just another Kong like villain, he was a unique terrifying ruler who ruled with fear and intimidation.
I'm convinced Skar King was mutated, probably by the energy source where he got that crystal shard he uses to controle Shimo. It would explain his unique physique; his long limbs, his tusk teeth, his glowing blue eyes and his red fur. I'd even go as far as saying that's why the other apes are marked with red markings
There's actually a lot of biblical references in this films, Kong is shown to be this sort of Moses to the kongs, Kong as Moses sets off to free the Israelite Kongs from Skar the Pharoah with Suko being their trust in God and that one day, freedom will be theirs and no more pain and suffering.
I like the Skarr King for one, he's not some predatory reptilian animal who is simply living its nature. And two, he's just a villain because he's a tyrant and kills to maintain that power making him more human-like.
Finally Someone that gets it! I was amazed that there're people saying Skar king was a dissapointment. I was like "dude, did you watched the movie? That guy was terrifying".
A small thing, but I love how the apes are scrawny and smaller comparatively. Even scar king. Whereas Kong is this tall, standing rippling with muscle and battle scars hero
Not really I saw the direction they were headed for but they didn't do well with it. But maybe they can show more of what they were going for in a comic or show showing his backstory
I just wish I could see him as actually terrifying, rather than despicable. Nothing Skar did made me scared. There were no "oh no" moments, or pulse elevating scenes. Just acts that made me eager for his comeuppance. That being said, I can see why he would be a pretty scary guy to many.
@@calebprescott440 ya thinking maybe like... some multiverse-stuff? Since every IP seems to be going for that. Not knocking it, it's pretty interesting. I'd like to see him added to one of the kaiju video games in a villain lineup just so we can punch him in the face as Kong, heheh.
He was physically weak compared to Kong and Godzilla but was clever enough to control other monsters, cause chaos and was a lunatic. Encountering Godzilla threw him off completely and he got what he deserved.
That Goji heard the call, and his first decision was to eat a nuclear power plant, dethrone Tiamat and eat a fucking SOLAR RADIATION HOTSPOT sealed in ice, Get lean, and grow a Thagomizer, truly shows just how much of a threat Scar King was.
@@RamonSanchez-h7r That's not what G-man remembers from the war. Sure, individually he's not, but if he's leading AN ARMY of kongs? Even G-man would have some trouble in base form.
It's videos like this that make me love The New Empire more and more because there's so much detail put into these films that if you rewatch it or see well-made videos like this, you learn stuff you probably didn't catch onto during the first watch.
6:50 that looks like the 70s kong that got smack by another great ape that almost look like the Jackson kong, ironic since the team behind king kong 2005 also work on new empire
I like Skar King but i was a little underwhelmed by him and i think we needed more of him and maybe he should've been stronger, like had a power which is why he's lived for so long and why his eyes glowed and how he was able to fight Godzilla way back then.
This is my fave scene in the entire film. No annoying cut-aways, as the camera stays focused on what's happening with Kong, Suko, and Skar King. And Skar is magnificent as a villain.
@@brandonott6103 in some aspects maybe however Ghidorah wanted to destroy Skar wanted to conquer. wanting to destroy is more evil than wanting to conquer if you ask me.
@@Samurai-es5wh ghidorahs type of evil was more instinctive, presumably he was sent by his species on his home planet to terraform habitable planets, and in this case, it was earth. ghidorah wanted to destroy and rebuild the planet to his own liking by using the other titans to do his work. Skar king was....I dont even know the word for it but skars type of evil was on his own terms, it was raw. not on instinct, he did all he did because he wanted to. he enslaved shimo and the remaining part of kongs species, he put ape heads on pikes, starved and tortured all the apes, and he kept all the female apes to himself as sex slaves to build up his own army to take over the surface. ghidorah never tortured titans at all, he just commanded them to destroy anything while he watched. while Skar did all the evil things himself.
Kong definitely wasn't challenging Skar King to be the leader. He challenged him because he finally found his people, and they were abused and killed by a tyrannical leader. It's classic good vs. evil
Not gonna lie, seeing skar king nearly peeing himself and running helplessly in horror from godzilla brought a lot of satisfaction to me. It was the bully picking a fight with someone he could never beat in literally a million years
Scar king was originally supposed to be a major threat until toho added to their contract and told Adam not too make any other kaijus more powerful than tohos own kaijus
That hand drag and side look when we first fully see Skar King has to be the coolest thing in all monsterverse...and its one of my favourite scenes in the whole movie.
I would love to see more videos on Skar King’s lore, because it still echoes with mystery. There’s still so many questions about him and his character. Questions such like: How old is he? Is he really tens of thousands of years old? If so how did he live so long despite the ape titans having shorter lifespans than most other titans? Why do his eyes glow blue? Is it the result of his incredible old age and the majority of his life spent in darkness? Or is it because he tapped into some sort of energy which also prolonged his life? What is he? Is he a type of kong subspecies that’s more lanky with orange fur? (I know Adam Wingard said Skar King’s fur is actually painted on and not actually red as a symbol to intimidate the other apes. But he also stated his fur is MOSTLY painted meaning his actual fur could still be more orange in coloration like Suko, who is possibly his son along with other orange furred infants we see.) And if he is a subspecies, why is he the only one of his kind in the tribe? Are the rest of his kind extinct? Is he an outcast? Is that why he is leading a group of apes who aren’t his own species? How and when did he take control of Shimo? And what was he trying to have her do in Rio? Was his objective to start another Ice Age? And if so how would that benefit him? Apes can’t survive in extreme cold so was his plan to start an Ice Age, retreat back to Hollow Earth, then later have Shimo undo it after most life on the surface had died? Or was he simply blocking out the sun because it hurts his eyes? There’s just a lot of questions surrounding his character that still haven’t been answered so I’d love to see more videos on him!
Skar killed Sukos dad in the movie by throwing him into lava. But the rest of your comment is full of pretty valid questions. I think I can answer the question about the intention of starting another Ice Age. Simply the same reason why he forced the apes to live in the cave. Weakening the bodies of those surrounding him. He himself used tools and other means of destruction anyway. This was what he relied on. Strip away his tools and all his intimidation-tactics fall flat, especially when facing Kong or Godzilla (Skar would have lost the first fight, if he didn't use Shimo. Typical badguy who uses unfair outside-means, not his very own powers. He's a whimp, not really terrifying. He doesn't even deserve to be called False King, that title still only belongs to Kevin....eh I mean Ghidorah. )
@@DigitalXAddict That wasn’t Suko’s dad, it was his care giver. Both the novel and Adam Wingard said it was just an ape who saw Suko needed someone to look after him and took it upon himself to do so.
@@huntercool2232 Oh I didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know! He definitely had parental vibes, so I assumed it was his dad. In a way he still is tho, just not by blood. (And now it's Kong :D)
I wanted more out of him. Should have shown him winning some fights. We really only saw him fast and bring out shimu when he started losing. Wanted a better fighter.
Well when you're as weak as him being a coward is the best thing he could've done. He knew he couldn't beat Kong or Godzilla so he had to let shimo do the work while he tries to get his licks in then back off
He was NEVER a coward. Godzilla is the most cowardly titan ever since he ran away when Skar King beat his azz. He was being SMART by evading the pink Lizard's torchlight
When he comes out of his throne room and stands tall with his arms loose by his sides it gives me the shivers. His mannerisms say so much about him. Definitely one of the best villains in a long time just imo
I will never understand how people will say the monsters in this film are underutilizing. So many long sequences with just the kaiju alone. So much story and context given with no words spoken. Its truly great story telling with the monster scenes.
I honestly do love the "Small" amount of Screentime he had that other people would say was one of the few negatives about the film because it was used well. Like it was the "Better" version of Godzilla's screen time in the 2014 film if you get what I mean. I also don't see how easily he was handled during the final fight and his death as bad because of the build up of his character
Aliser everything you said in this video was accurate and awesome and those are the best words to describe what you said my mind is blown I have not seen Godzilla X Kong the new Empire not yet but soon and I hope to do so with my mom and dad originally we were going to watch it sometime around my birthday in the movie theater but things that go exactly according to plan and that was back in March.
How can you honestly say it's accurate and awesome if you haven't seen the movie? Wtf? You're just brownnosing here... But have fun watching GxK, it was definitely a fine "war" against this jerk of a supposed "king". Not really terrifying, as you see early on, that all he does is depend on tools and he is fake af, which Alastair simply ignored in his video.
@@DigitalXAddict fake? let me guess? you're one of those boring POWER SCALERS that only see villain as shallow obstacles, Skar King is scary because he represents the bad side of humanity and it works to the narrative of the plot, Skar King's role in the movie is like the Joker that uses every tool on his disposal to get what he wants, the threat comes from his intelligence not his strength, but of course you wouldn't understand that because you only see this villains as shallow generic MARVEL POWER CREEPS.
@@chito2701 Is calling names the only thing you can? And tf? Comparing Skar to Joker? Joker is Madness. Joker is a phenomenal character, in (almost) all of it's itterations. Skar is shallow (to use your wording). He's just a tyrant that feels strong because he got 2 strong tools. That's it. Just pay attention to the first fight. He's like a "Weevil Underwood" (YuGiOh character). Full of himself, because of his tools, but a whimp once you take those tools away (which was also shown in the movie, in the first and the last fight). He would be terrifying, if he would still feel dangerous, albeit losing those 2 tools. That would make him terrifying. But the only thing terifying isn't him, but that a jerk like him uses such strong tools. The terifying part is an idiot having power, not the idiot himself. @@DigitalXAddict how long did it take for you to write this bVllshit? as far as i know that was the entire point, Skar king is supposed to represent the bad side of Humanity, he's irredeemable and pure evil, he mimics what humanity would be if they were GIANT 500 ft Hitler, he isn't just another generic kaiju doing generic Kaiju, he has goals in mind something Ghidorah and other previews villains are lacking, this makes Skar king very interesting, one of a kind and unique , despite him not as powerful as the other villains, his threat comes from his intelligence and his greed. then again after reading your entire paragraph made me realized you probably just making bvLLSHIT up, having very little knowledge and understanding because RUclips clips isn't?
@@chito2701 You're still unnecessarily offensive and still didn't provide anything that makes Skar "terrifying". I rather compare him to Kim-Jong Un, for comedic effect. Again, the fact that such a disgrace of a character is in such a position is terrifying, yes, but Skar himself isn't. He ain't that smart either, because his goals were pretty straight-forward. Just because he is a leader doesn't mean he's smart. Heck, if anything, I talked more about the contents of the movie than you did so far, you just chime what Alastair said, but in a more aggressive tone. Talk about having knowledge and understanding "because RUclips clips" 😂 Plus saying Ghidorah had no intentions and plans is also utter bs on your behalf. Skars only plan is to create 'more environment that causes his following to be weakened'. That's the only plan he had. That is why the apes lived in the cave in Hollow Earth, that is why he wanted to initiate an ice age on earth. It's not a big master plan. And he def wasn't smart, because (as I already mentioned), his actions were sraight forward. He saw a chance, he took it. His plan didn't work out and he had no idea what else to do. But I guess I'll just end it here. You're just angry, that's all and I sincerely believe you're a troll (eventho I give you the benefit of the doubt and still try to be respectful, albeit your disrespect towards me). Stop brownnosing and maybe watch the movie instead. Thanks and bye.
I loved how they portrayed the whole hierarchal society with Skar King being on top and his subordinates below him; they also really conveyed such emotion in the movie.
Anyone else think that skar is just big jack horner after the wishing star incident (by that I mean that they are both evil for the sake of being evil) aka return to monke horner
Him also have some similarities with the character "Death", as Skar initially dodges all of Kong's blows while laughing, also the fact that Kong is surprised when Skar makes a cut on his hand.
Scar Jo is by far the best Monsterverse "villain" mostly because he is the first adversary of Godzilla and Kong, that is just as if not even more intelligent than them. Smart, Strong, Agile, Versed with weapons, manipulative, cruel, sadistic, motivated. Would have loved to see how he got the Shimo Crystal though and how he learned to use it. The G-man could obviously have defeated them all by himself, no Kong or mothra, if they somehow got to the surface. But it was nice to see Kong included in the movie even if he's kind of a pushover at times.
I think this movie is 1) pure fun, had a blast watching it! 2) the non verbal communications are incredible, as this video highlights! 3) Not just giant monsters, but THE Godzilla and THE Kong teaming up against that pure evil prick of a bully! Pure monster fan gold!
That was a neat detail of the one ape patting the other ape on the back that you pointed out as well as the female kongs that were seen when Kong first sees the place, I just seen them in the area where Skar's throne was
What I don’t understand is Skar has those glowing blue eyes which told me before release Skar had power from the hollow earth, same power as Godzilla and kongs axe. When that turned out not the case it confused me, why the eye glow? That implies a power of some sort. Apes don’t have glowing blue eyes. Love the movie tho, saw it 3 times.
Adam wingard confirmed Skar kings eyes glow because since Skar has been in the dark hollow earth for too long, his eyesight has adapted to it, similar how light in the dark glows off cat eyes, it glows in skars eyes too.

Wouldn’t say some past kaiju are completely emotionless. Depictions like Shin and Minus One are certainly more reserved, but they do have their own quirks and behaviors that make them distinct from just animals. I will say GxK is peak kaiju personification.

Especially when he brought out Shimo, I could see the pain and torture in her eyes. Like even at the end of the movie and she stares into the sky, you can tell that Shimo looked so happy.
She looked very relieved. The pain of tort_re was gone.

When the king finds his people, it's one of the most heartwarming and heartbreaking things I've seen in a awhile 😢
The greatest part about this movie is how absolutely no words were used and you still can feel every scene!
Exactly like Primal.
If i were to name this trope, I'd call it "No dialogue necessary."

The more you think about it the more biblical themes appear, like Godzilla was the one who imprisoned Skar king in the hollow earth and god casted Satan into the deepest part of earth,I mean Godzilla/God these details here are excellent
Godzilla's japaneese name (Gojira) actually means "God Inkarnate" in one of the japaneese dialects.

If Kong is the reflection of the good of humanity, Skar King reflects all the evil of man which is clearly shown
What makes Skar King so unique among previous Monsterverse villains is how rather than being a mere animal, a force of nature, or a quasi-deity of sorts, he's a dictator, a tyrant, a warmonger and a slave master.

Man this video was freaking great! Awesome breakdown of that whole sequence!
💀 Kong was just trying to find other kongs or apes, bro was just tired of seeing ants everywhere and none of himself
You're making a huge leap.
Scar king is horrifying
I like the Skarr King for one, he's not some predatory reptilian animal who is simply living its nature. And two, he's just a villain because he's a tyrant and kills to maintain that power making him more human-like.
Just like King Ghidorah.
Beautifully explained. Hats off Dangerville ❤❤
I love how after all of this complexity, Shimo got turned into a giant puppy at the end of the film
Loved the Bible reference in the scene. Man, I hope we get to see the same emotional level with Godzilla in the next movie.

12:47 It’s also common knowledge that King Ghidorah likes destroying planets for fun, I view it as a basic hobby in their species.
A small thing, but I love how the apes are scrawny and smaller comparatively. Even scar king. Whereas Kong is this tall, standing rippling with muscle and battle scars hero
They nailed it with Scar king
Meh
Not really I saw the direction they were headed for but they didn't do well with it.
But maybe they can show more of what they were going for in a comic or show showing his backstory
I just wish I could see him as actually terrifying, rather than despicable. Nothing Skar did made me scared. There were no "oh no" moments, or pulse elevating scenes. Just acts that made me eager for his comeuppance. That being said, I can see why he would be a pretty scary guy to many.

I think its safe to say that King Ghidorah and Skar King are easily the most evil villains in the monsterverse both pretty much personify Pure Evil
and Skar is the more evil one out of them both.

Can you guys do a full film breakdown of the new Empire?
That hand drag and side look when we first fully see Skar King has to be the coolest thing in all monsterverse...and its one of my favourite scenes in the whole movie.
I would love to see more videos on Skar King’s lore, because it still echoes with mystery. There’s still so many questions about him and his character. Questions such like:
How old is he?

Hey a bit much are you able to do a voice over of the entire film somewhat like this like this. You can make it 5+hours and I will still watch it all
Skar represents cowardice and evil kong works together with Godzilla while skar controls Shimo with pain.
This was incredible
I don’t think this story of it could have been told any better. It was told almost perfectly for Kong & his long search
The non-verbal communication and direction of the movie’s storytelling involving the characters is astronomical amazing to me
I’ve only just noticed that the ape on the right next to scar and shimo when they come out the bottem has a godzilla dorsal spear or axe 1:08
That scene was like the scene for war for the planet of the apes
The Kong sections gave me serious Planet of the Apes vibes

Talk about having knowledge and understanding "because RUclips clips" 😂
Plus saying Ghidorah had no intentions and plans is also utter bs on your behalf.
@@pedropaulocarvalho4554 I just noticed that thank you for the insight👍
Scar Jo is by far the best Monsterverse "villain" mostly because he is the first adversary of Godzilla and Kong, that is just as if not even more intelligent than them. Smart, Strong, Agile, Versed with weapons, manipulative, cruel, sadistic, motivated. Would have loved to see how he got the Shimo Crystal though and how he learned to use it. The G-man could obviously have defeated them all by himself, no Kong or mothra, if they somehow got to the surface. But it was nice to see Kong included in the movie even if he's kind of a pushover at times.

I don't think they glowed, it was probably just a visual effect.
Adam wingard confirmed Skar kings eyes glow because since Skar has been in the dark hollow earth for too long, his eyesight has adapted to it, similar how light in the dark glows off cat eyes, it glows in skars eyes too.
