I switched to AG01 on my boxer. I am a daily flyer and I was curious. More importantly, AG01 stick ends are plain uncomfortable meat tube grinders. I ended up putting the original Boxer sticks back on the AG01 gimbals. Feel is good now but I am pretty sure it was more a want than a need!
While I’m not in the market for a radio, the fact that they make cool upgrade like this available would definitely steer me in their direction. I hope that they send Albert a replacement Zorro soon!
I had to take mine apart shortly after getting it to deal with a bad two position switch and it turned out the internal JSTs don't fit snugly. You might have a loose connection because the connectors are a hair too loose for the pins they used.
I got just a little sand on my TX12. Now the gimbals grinds and sticks a little. I was like, mini gimbals the same cost as the radio, no way. Now I can't wait to order them for replacement.
The eyelet that holds the lanyard on the Zorro came off on mine last night while I was changing batteries on a drone. The radio was hanging from my neck and hit the ground right on the arm switch. It still works but this morning I tried to get the screw out that was flopping around inside out. Dude what a nightmare. That radio is seriously crammed full of stuff. I ended up just shaking it out so I didn’t have to take it apart. Be aware of this problem everyone. I’ve only had mine less then a couple months. Great reviews as always Albert. Sorry about your Zorro. 😟
@@saharmesri1810 absolutely, but getting inside the radio deep enough to reach the screw is basically taking it completely apart. After I looked inside, I was like, Hell No! So I emailed Radiomaster and let them know about this issue. My arm switch is super bent but it works. I’m all in on ELRS but this sucked and getting another radio right after I just bought this one was not on my list of priorities. If I ever decide to upgrade the gimbals, I’ll replace the screw and add locktite, and probably the bent up switch as well. I’m bummed though. It’s brand new and I like to keep my things nice.
@@PoodlehawkFPV Yeah, it's sad when a shiny new purchase gets messed up through no fault of your own. Did the eyelet feel loose at all before it fell off? Mine feels pretty tight, it's actually slightly off-center but I haven't attempted to realign because it's on tight and I didn't want to mess with it. Thanks for letting everyone here know about the issue, sounds like for now people shouldn't 100% rely on that screw to hold up and address the issue if they ever need to open up the radio for something else.
@@saharmesri1810 yeah, I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else. Hopefully Radiomaster will start putting locktite on the next batch. Honestly I didn’t feel anything when it went. It felt snug and my NewBeeDrone lanyard fit perfectly. I really like the performance of the radio so far, but this sucked for sure.
Great review. I'd be interested in swapping them our for when my DJI FPV radio gives out, but I suspect it won't work. Thanks for the review. Much appreciated. Respect Albert Respect !!!! Still keeping it real!!!!!!
@@Adam_Carbone A open question. Does anybody know if DJI FPV Radio GYMBALS can be replaced? Does anyone have any links to any video of someone who has replaced their DJI FPV gimbals (STICKS)?
Nice review thanks On a side note: I dont know how people fly accurate by using thumbs?????? To me I see it is like writing, tape a pen to you thumb and try to draw a straight line between two parallel lines or even just try to neatly write and then try and use two fingers to draw with a pen, you will be 100 times more accurate and precise. Maybe I am too old school and all you younger lot learnt to use thumbs for everything???
I find thumbs easier to fly because I feel like you have better references. I find pinching uncomfortable while also holding the radio, and if I'm not holding it then my hand doesn't have as good of a reference for where the stick is. With thumbing the way the stick end rolls on the tip of my thumb also helps keep track of what angle the stick is at, hence what position it is in. On top of that I can move the sticks faster with thumbs, though that may be due to a lack of practice with pinching.
With the Frsky grand lotus stick ends thumbing is perfect for me. I never pinch probably because I grew up playing games with analog sticks that are too wide to pinch. I never have issues with slipping off or being inaccurate ripping tight corners in my dense backyard. Kids these days are thumbin'!!
Yeah I understand you guys can, but I guess it's like hand guns too, I use two hands to shoot accurately, it's a push pull scenario that makes it accurate, same with sticks on a remote controller pinching makes for push pull thats not to say people cant shoot with one hand, I know they can, its just that it is more accurate and repeatable using 2. Like a needle pulling a splinter out of your skin, sure you could do it with your thumb, but its just more precise when using thumb and index finger.
Bummer about your radio. Is there an option to get it repaired, is it worth paying to repair? I'm very happy with the full size ag01 gimbals in my Tx16s. Anyone on a budget, they're a luxury not a necessity. I'm waiting on my preferred stick ends. The Frsky Vatac Lotus in black. I'm a hybrid pincher. Happy flying everyone 🤓
This is why I love your videos so detailed thanks for the review I wanna try those gimbals but I ended up getting mambo tbs radio lol so let’s seeee how that goes wit all the mandalooooo
What a bummer, sorry to hear AK. ouch since it was your daily driver. It was probably because you are not a "Gimbal snob" lol, great comment. Love the honesty, never thought AK would make a user error.
Agreed that the standard gimbals are already very good on the Zorro, that radio is such a steal for the money they want for it ! I'd rather spend the price of these metal gimbals on other FPV stuff. Bummer what happened to your zorro, lucky it so affordable to replace though ! ;-)
Anyone using the Jumper AION nano module on their Zorro along with the carrying case? Everything seems to fit, just like the module Albert is using here, but it seems that if I leave the antenna attached it bends the antenna in a way that makes me think it might damage it in the long run. So far I've been just taking the antenna off before storage but that's rather annoying. So I guess which is worse, bent antenna, or using a 45 degree adapter to angle it up a bit?
@@Adam_Carbone yes, it would be great if Albert is able to weigh in since I believe he has this module and its stock antenna, plus a Zorro and the carrying case. If I could I would post a picture to show the issue. Its probably okay, but over the years I have seen many cables fail due to repeated strain on one spot, hence my concerns. Though I guess replacement antennas are cheap enough.
Most likely it won't. I've seen people put these into other radios with a lot of modifications to get it to mount. FYI, like anything, it might be possible with a lot of work.
What a bummer. You have had the worst luck with radios lately. I’ve seen the upgrade videos and I wouldn’t want to do it. Just a little too involved. Can loan you my Zorro til you get it sorted!
8:03 I'm a little confused here. You said that the stock gimbals were "potentiometer", but the specs on the manufacturer's site and all the other reviews and sellers are saying said they were Hall Sensor gimbals. Was this an accidental mis-phrasing or am I missing something? I haven't heard of mostly plastic-made hall sensor gimbals having such poor life expectancy before.
@@Adam_Carbone Guess I missed how the conversation bounced between the different radios and say both looking "complete" and was confused as to which was being referred to.

Just ordered these and will come back for install follow along ha
They will fit in the T12/T12 Pro and the T8SG with light modification to the module bay's sides to clear the tensioners.
Will it fit jumper t pro?

Hope they send you a new Zorro!
hello, by completion (cutting the loops ar01 mini) is installed on the jumper t-pro, t-pro v2. Installed on jumper light without modifications
Is it failing on stick movement, or switch movement? Radio position? Is a nylon bushing missing and a screw is grounding a PCB?
That’s sucks Albert.
Totally random. Could be anything.
