I love the Aquis. It's not the best value for money, but it is among the best overall models for the price. The new cherry red dial is lovely. The 41.5mm size will appeal to many. What do you think?

I think the Oris Aquis is the most beautiful diver watch in the market. That cherry dial makes the Oris Aquis cool and collectible.
You can pick up a new oris for about 1500$ after discount and honestly for that price , i think its class leading when it comes to “the overall package” . Thanks for sharing Bruce !
Man I've had my oris for 3 years and especially when looking at the watch from an angle it looks so stunning. The crownguard and all the angles are so unique
The cherry dial makes it stunning along with the bezel ala Yatchmaster.
This is the first time that I will pull the trigger on an Oris!
Is so different!
Totally agree with your opening statement. Some watches are just more than the sum of their parts and it's the overall design that often makes it all come together.
I'm glad you get what I was trying to convey. Its hard to put into words
I’m not an enormous fan of the aquis, but this one is stunning. In this case this dial color along with the bezel and bracelet work perfectly together.
Absolutely love the little asmr portion at the end!
One of the best feeling winding and time changing Sellita movements was in my Oris Big Crown Pointer Date. I loved that watch.
A caliber 400 in the smaller case size Aquis would be a smashing hit! Great review Bruce. Totally agree with you. Would be interested to see a "Bruce opinion top 5 dive watch" video in the future
I own the green dial but man this red is spectacular !!
Although like you said just as mine the negative clearly is the antireflective coating.
Thanks for the good video as always Bruce 👍🏼
I totally get it what you said in the beginning, Bruce! I absolutely agree. My personal collection is more and more growing into a direction where there are more emotional and not rational perfect pieces. My Clean Ocean Aquis LE is just one of them! Nevertheless I absolutely agree what you said about the negatives of this watch. BUT I still think Oris is heading in the right direction and always delivers unique and strong pieces!
Great video, thank you!
When you get to the Oris display at a big retailer you have to stop and take in the garden of beauty that is the Oris line of divers. Colors and light play are their thing. For me though, I'm saving another year and getting the Omega. I prefer the more traditional styling there and slightly less heavy handed use of color. But, that said, I really enjoyed the tactile feel of the Salita in my Diver 65, the stying, and overall quality. Also, with Oris you are going with something less common and that's cool.
Thanks Bruce! Your review of the Lake Baikal limited edition Aquis made me purchase that watch!
Another great review Bruce! You are not helping me with my watch addiction. I love Oris and in particular the Aquis line and this one is sure tempting. I have the green Hangang and the Blue Carysfort so this would be a very nice edition.
one of the nicest looking red dials I've ever seen
I think the price on these will appreciate over time
Oh, that dial! I have got an Oris Pro Pilot big Crown Big Date with a blue dial and raised markers - and it is just such a great watch. I am a big fan of Oris. I think my next watch will be the Oris Aquis with this stunning red dial. Best regards Ulrich Sorensen, Denmark
Great video thanks !
That is one gorgeous cherry red dial, it's just crept onto my want list. Simply stunning! I like that it has the silver tactile bezel instead of a red insert as then may be a little too much distraction from the dial. I agree the lack of AR can spoil the view but it does look like it has AR on the underside. I have a few Selitta movements and generally find them very stable and comparable to the ETA 2824 but it can look a little agricultural by today's standards at this price, at least it gets the red rotor. If it gets the in house 400 movement the price would certainly leap and service options restricted but that movement has a 10 year warranty and 10 year service interval.
Love that crazy deep red dial.
Thanks Bruce. Nice watch. Your observations are spot on. I also really like the Aquis but wish they would do more options at 41.5mm and with a brushed strap. Not convinced about polished links.
Picked up one of these from Nick at Exquisite Timepieces at launch.
Gorgeous
Wow! Beautiful. Definitely right about the AR though, need to be able to see that gorgeous dial.
Spot on with this one. Overall a somewhat unique offering - with it's origins actually being the coolest story with this watch here, although not mentioned in this review. I have the same likes and dislikes, but it's a sentimental favorite as an example of a watch company literally listening to what it's customers would like, and producing what they've asked for - a great quarantine story.
Wooow very great video! The watch is a feast for the eyes. The color looks so nice and the steel bezel does not steal the show. My Aquis runs very accurately, at +3 seconds. That's why I was surprised which spread ORIS specifies. I thought they were all so accurately regulated. But the movement is super easy to regulate. In addition, new movements should run in about 1-2 months. The double curved glass is very nice! It could be better anti-reflective, but that should not by dive watches, because they can no longer be read well underwater. That's why Rolex has no coating on the glass at all. That's why I'm surprised that you mention it more or less negatively. But its remains a matter of taste. If I had no Source of Life I would also get the green Limited or the beautiful cherry.
Watch is good looking, Bruce, thanks for sharing.
Love the red rotor on Oris. The movement itself, however, leaves a lot to be desired. I always feel that you pay quite a bit for not a lot with Oris watches. On a personal note, I much prefer the older TT1 divers to the Aquis.
I agree with you to some degree but this is why I look for used. I have a TT1000 love it as well as the Hangang and the Carysfort
Wow that dial is incredible.
I love how analytical you are with your reviews, keep up the great content I enjoy your videos.
This is beautiful. I think it also would look better with a slightly raised crystal.
I like it, cool with the red dial
Red is such a underrated color on watches. I currently have 2 red dialed watches and one red bezel watch in my 9 watch collection. I would take red over blue any day
Nice watch. Good size but the red dial is a little OTT for me. Thx Bruce - keep 'em coming....
Only one thing to say about this watch..........brilliant
When I first saw the press photos, I thought it looked terrible. After seeing the video, now I want it but I’m still holding off in the hopes of a green GMT.
I totally agree with what you said. Love Oris but they’re too expensive brand new. However if you’re patient you can find them for half off on the grey market and at that price point it’s a no brainer. Bell&Ross are quite similar in that way: love their watches but they are absurdly priced
Excellent review. I was just about to purchase because the aesthetics of this watch are so appealing, but the movement and lack of anti-reflect kills it for me.
So you don’t like the lack of AR on oris, but when Rolex do it it’s some super duper special non AR crystal?
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I would love a 40mm version of that, it may be my grail watch
I think the relief bezel over the ceramic is a perfect choice for this dial
Great review Bruce. Can you tell me if the other Oris Aquis watchbands fit this watch?
Had my Aquis for a couple of months, Love it. 43.5, perfect size - wears much smaller and the bracelet is awesome. Sellita for me was a plus, coz I'll be able to afford servicing costs and get it done locally in the future.
Love this red one, certainly is a bit special.
Cheers mate 👍🏻👍🏻
I hope you mean that, because I have a 43.5 and wish I had a smaller one, but I haven't seen the others in person. I'm just going of experience with other 41mm watches.
@@ams914 43.5 fits me perfectly, I have 7 1/4 " wrist. Cheers mate 👍🏻
@@ams914 if you got 16cm wrist always watch Tim masso videos before buying a watch. Aquis 43 fits perfect on 16cm
Well made video for sure. I like the shots of The Hulk and other Oris you added for comparison.
This watch is really stunning. I'm glad you gave the Kamasu a mention too.
I'm not sure I have ever seen a review video that let's one appreciate the sound of the watch -- unless it was to criticize a jangly bracelet. That also gave me some appreciation of the tactile qualities of how the bezel must feel and how tight the wind is . Well done.
Yeah I’m in the club of not liking integrated bracelets. What about this design called for them? I feel it could have easily been made with a solid end link and kept true to the design language.
My choice at this price is - Tag Heuer Aquaracer 41mm Calibre 5 (ETA)
A great choice, I enjoy that one a lot
I never say "first!!" but I have been waiting for this ;)
Would look pretty awesome next to the Explorer haha
Nice watch indeed!
It’s a pretty watch ...I’ve had a lot of aquis over the years . For some reason I’ve never liked them enough to keep ...
Have this watch a love it - only criticism is the cuckle is not very scratch resistant
What would you say is the best value watch in this class?
Great video. Thanks!
I have to admit the Aquis line design wide just doesnt do it as a tool watch,it says Bling to me.I own a TT1 Steel 200m diver and a Prodiver 1000m in Titanium, bothpieces are more tool watch in my opinion.Great presentation !
Hey Bruce am I correct in saying if a watch has anti reflection coating on the outside of the crystal it shows scratches?
You didn't once mention that awesome relief bezel
Looks like a classy-Yatch Master to me…
Stunner of a watch! Would definitely consider it for purchase. The nit-picky parts of the watch you mention are legitimate and would be nice to have addressed by Oris. But of course we almost always give Rolex and Tudor a pass on anti-reflection quality, don't we? We are a weird bunch!
Rolex and Tudor don't have crisp defined reflections. They are enlarged and more opaque. I don't get the legibility issues with the brand
I would love to see a video with a top 10 list for bezel action.
I'll have to compile some more footage of some of the best. Great idea!
I might have missed it but is the embossed bezel steel or ceramic? That red dial sure is pretty. Hope to bring myself to purchase an Oris Aquis one day.
I love the Aquis model
But I absolutely hate how it only takes Oris proprietary bracelets
To me, a hug part of the fun of owning a watch is trying out whatever ideas I have and getting to mix and match it with all sort of other straps
Question...if you had to pick between the Oris Aquis Date Red Cherry Dial Men's Watch or the RADO Captain Cook Automatic Stainless Steel Red Dial Men's Watch ...which one would you pick?
Nice video and a beautiful watch. To the point about accuracy, my Sinn EZM 7, that I bought six months ago, has an accuracy of +10 seconds per day. I've heard, that Sinn always regulates their movements to top specs even surpassing chronometer specification, but the accuracy of my example is just underwhelming. I have also heard, that some Sinn watches with Ar-technology will gain about +10 seconds per day from the factory, but will self-regulate down to about +5 seconds per day in ca. 6 months. Mine hasn't, so that's not very satisfying.
Owning U50 and I haven't experienced any issues, like yours. Send the watch back to the manufacturer far a calibration.
I love a red dial watch.
I have the Yacht Master 40 and that colour bezel definitely makes the watch look smaller
i was wondering about that......i have a 114060, sub no date, and that is the smallest i would want to go. i really like the YM but i heard that it wore smaller than the sub.
OMG that disk is beautiful wow.
Hey when are you coming to utah man?
@@BruceWilliams I’ll text you. Hit my flights already booked 👍🏻
Nice looking watch. ORIS, come on and create an adjustable clasp without tools!
How does that red dial compares to the red Kamasu ?
Did you have a chance to review the diamond version? 🔥
I love the red dial color but not the gray bezel. I feel it washes the red bezel out.a bit and a black bezel would make the red pop more.
👌🏻👌🏻
Just bought one of these for $1800 from my local AD. My first Oris. The dial just had me from the beginning. I don’t even like red but this dial is just gorgeous. Hopefully I won’t lose too much when the time comes to sell.
It look like old signet ring only next to Grand Seiko magical watch.
Nice mirrow. 🪞
What about the bezel. What are your thoughts on that? I think the definition looks pretty sharp in the video (and pics ), but I was hoping to hear your thoughts on it's build quality and finishing
Bezel is good not great. A little bit of play. Nice sound, a decent amount of torque needed to turn, good grip. Finishing is above average. Lume is good. To me the only disappointing element is the lack of ARC. If I got bad luck on accuracy I would have my local watchmaker tighten it up.
@@RenaissanceRoster stainless steel, check out the previous aquis relief, gray dial/red strap.
Hey Bruce. Do you think the cal 400 is worth the extra 1 grand? I’m not so picky about in house movements. In many cases I prefer standard movements because they’re easier to service but it is cool to have them. I’ve compared the cal400 with a normal aquis and I can’t really tell any diffrrrnfes from a finishing point. So, is it worth it?
Its worth it if you value power reserve and antimagetic properties. The warranty is industry leading. I think the 'worth it' topic is going to differ for everyone. I like the 400 but I don't have issue with the selitta.
@@BruceWilliams that’s the thing. The power reserve is really a non issue for me butterfly lo
😻😻
Vs the Orient Kamasu Red Dial?
Whats the color of the AR coating? I heard all Oris models use blue AR, which I kind of dislike because it makes the dial unclean.
Honestly I'm not sure if this one has any
ORIS - where is our 41.5 black dial, black bezel???
ok.......... that bezel changes everything about this watch and just moved it up my list of things to buy
Why no one who reviews this aquis never mentions previous relief?)) Gray one on red rubber is much better
They need ar coating bad, the main attraction for oris aquis is their beautiful dial
Great review! But Oris should apply more AR coating or double sided AR coating. You can blind small children with this when walking in the sun.
Think this, like the Kamasu, would look better with a black bezel.
nice red cherry dial, better 41,5mm case ,but shame that Aquis second generation used this non atractive hands :/ befor hands was much more pretty.
Oris Cyborg
First 🏆
-5 to +20 spd?! Is really that hard to regulate to +/- 5? I don’t think so
Time and money haha
my vote for longines hydroconquest
+15s / day with mine. Not terrible, not great. :)
Really? Im sorry to hear that. While no that isn't terrible, ive had some expensive Seiko prospex models that were insanely inaccurate. Over the years ive owned 4 Oris watches. 2 Aquis's a pointer date which i still own and love and divers 65. They all were really tight in the accuracy department. If it does bother you, you can easily get if regulated by any watchmaker for not much at all.
@@jmount411 it bothers me to a certain extend, but not so much to be opening the watch earlier than on a servise. When that will be due I will have it fixed.
I must also admit that +15s is on average or lying top up. When wearing the watch it warry from +9 to +18s / day.
Liked your review, but disagree, I think it is the best value for money, and I have owned quite a few divers over the years. When I got the 41.5 Aquis, I was done with my journey
Its an awesome model
That uncoloured bezel compliments that cherry red dial
I'm so upset that I bought a goddamn 43, believing that the Swiss would never get any sense and downsize their ranges.
What are you paying for? Everything I am seeing about this specs and finishing wise seems like a $500-$1000 watch MAX
lol good one
I think the color of the bezel doesn't help the beautiful dial.
Burgundy or Black would have been cool
What did you drink? The Oris Aquis is the best diving watch up to 2000 euros / dollars. Breitling can hide with their cheap clasps.
I would say that the crystal is the same or worse than the Hamilton khaki. Worst reflections ever!
just save a little more and get a Tudor Black Bay Heritage
;
Great looker until you flipped it over. That’s a small undersized ugly movement and the performance is trash for the price. For me the engine is the watch.
That’s a wannabe Rolex Yachtmaater
Yes the bezel is kind of a rip off
It's nice but too small. Good for the ladies I guess...
It wears slightly larger than a Submariner, you know a ladies watch:)
