I just ordered the gold-bezeled version of the green Aquis 400. Definitely not a bargain pick but it will be the bold, flashy watch in my collection. The Sellita Aqui are one of the best values in all of watches, and that red is gorgeous.
Both of these are spectacular. I own both a blue and green Aquis and am now considering tje cherry red. I don’t even 2 watches from any other brand, but I love the Aquis - modern, unique, rugged, with my favorite sunburst dials. That green and that red ….
Both are lovely watches and incredibly well made. Personally I would probably pick the green with the Sellita movement - I'm not sure that the large price difference is worth the money although I recognise the movement is very high end with an incredible power reserve. All Aquis watch sizes seem to wear incredibly well on the wrist - even the larger 43mm variant.
Yeah, I think it's best to go w/ the cherry red if you're not a watch aficionado & just simply want a high quality Swiss made one in your collection. Aesthetically, they're probably about equal in terms of attractiveness.
Thank you for the comparison. I already have a cal 400 Aquis, the fade to black dial and the larger more readable date really make it. Last weekend I was in the unfortunate position to be in the AD who had the cherry dial Sellita in stock and I walked out with it. It was the bezel and the dial combination that swayed the deal along of course with the price. My cherry dial Aquis is very close to COSC so far. As for which watch is best is debateable. The cal 400 as you mention is a 10 year service where if I recall the Sellita version may suggest service 3 to 4 times in that time. If like me you intend to keep the watch then the cost difference narrows a lot but the warranty on the cal 400 in my humble opinion is worth it. Oris seems to be right up there with the dial design and manufacture. If it was a choice of one then I guess in the short if term initial cost is primary the gorgeous cherry version would be the one that I would go for, other wise the cal 400 would take it on the 10 year warranty. Both are great. Videos and photographs do not do these dials justice so if possible check them both out at the AD.
I would get the Sellita powered watch. The extra power reserve is not worth the "premium" of an unproven movement to me (and the "premium" service cost that will come with it). Oris needs to offer a more compelling overall package for the "premium" price they expect.
I want Oris to make a calibre 400 with the relief dial so bad, maybe a nice grey sunburst with a colored seconds hand. imma hold off till the right aquis shows up but I really do love this design.
Good review; I got the regular version in the green but on a rubber strap. I had read some of the reviews concerning setting the time on the in-house version and decided to save some money, and of course put it towards another watch.
There supposedly is a new on the fly micro adjustment on the clasp in new versions. When pressing both side buttons, the clasp slides back and forth. Can you confirm it’s on your 41.5mm version, or only the 43.5mm one?
I wanted a black dial Aquis in 41,5mm. Cal 400 was the only option. I find the 43,5 just a tad too much presence on my wrist. But I would have been just as happy with a sellita movement. That has been going strong for 15 years now on my other Oris watch.
I have the cherry Sunray dial and I love it. As far as the whole regular vs premium argument you are just paying more money for a movement that you have to finger fuck the crown to set the time right. Something you should not have to do with a watch at this price. Hell at any price really. I do not think the price is justified for the new movement.
Hi Anders Just came across your channel and so happy i did. Your videos are excelent and you’re a fellow Dane - whats not to like 👍😅 I’m very interested in the regular Oris Aquis, but I’m curious to where is the best place to buy if not interested in paying the retail price? Any Danish websites or international you can recommend? Best regards
I am looking at the Oris Aquis date. This helps me make the choice. Thanks. Did I see it good though that there is a small misalignment of the pip against the 12 o’clock when showing the lume? Or is that the effect of the video angle maybe or the bezel not being at 12 exactly?
Hi Alain. It must be the video. Everything alings - it's not Seiko - sorry coulden't resist - good luck finding the right Aquis for you. Best regards, Anders
I really kinda like my Oris Aquis date blue dial black bezel, as my 1st watch. I just go for older version because the color option and also the price is much higher than older version. The new caliber 400 with that selling price is huge deal breaker. The new Aquis price can really go near to Tudor price range, I rather top up a little more just go for Tudor simply it has a better brand value and design. The new Caliber 400 version is exactly the same design than regular Aquis, Oris should rework on new bracelet design especially the clasp make it more distinguisher than regular Aquis if asking for higher selling price. My only complain is the bracelet doesn't come with those toolless micro adjustment clasp.
Don’t care what anyone says Oris produce some of the best dial colours on the market, these two in this vid are perfect examples of this.

Really just want that cherry watch with the new 400 movement.
Thank you! I have the basic Selita 200 but it’s +3 sec daily for 3 years now! The bezel protects from little scratches and still looks new!

I have the Date Relief model in 43.5, with the Sellita movement. Perfectly fine, great timekeeper, and a real looker.

Beautiful emerald dial on the Calibre 400 here. Kind of looks like the Northern Lights.

I'm looking forward to see the 400 movement moving into more watches from Oris. If the Cherry had the 400 in it, I would buy without thinking.
100%

This explained it well! Thank you

Thanks for the review. But is it just me or does the green bezel not match the green on the dial? It looks odd in my view.
Its darker and the dial is darker towards the edges and lighter in the center. This is probably why it looks like that to you.
Green is nice, the cherry irresistible.
Love that cherry but want the 400 movement!

I seen reviews on the reflective coating and it looks pretty bad, that was actually my only gripe for the watch
When set on a winder does this caliber 400 have a preference on CW, CCW or half&half?
Thanks

Hi André. Mange tak :) tag et kig på Chrono24 og husk at vælge indenfor EU, så du ikke skal betale told.
Mvh

@@TimeAndCrown Mange tak - det vil jeg kigge nærmere på! 👍😁 God dag.

Green 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Power reserve is overrated, so is water resistance and in-house movements. None of these actually matter. Perhaps accuracy can be considered important
Nice

If you own several watches the Power Reserve is not important
Oris is now was Rolex was in the begining
