was in a dilemma between the Oris Aquis blue and Tudor Black bay, tbh I was leaning towards Oris a bit...and thanks to this episode I finally pulled the trigger and brought home my Oris! couldnt be any more happier. i get compliments all the time.
Awesome man. My dream is to have an Oris Aquis. Been eyeing that since I first saw it many years ago, and it has ever since kept its appeal.
No jumping hand for me. I have this watch in the anthracite dial and it has been a great watch so far. Well built, accurate, great wrist presence, comfortable.
Thank you for noting the lack of pretentiousness that is such a unique and refreshing aspect of Oris.
I needed this review in my life! oris is a brand I'm sooo interested in, but definitely need to learn more about! Thanks Teddy you absolute legend!
I think Oris have stepped into the Tudor level with the new cal400. Its a beautiful watch and ticks all the boxes.
Have you seen any reviews of that Cal400?? "Tudor level"??
@@istvantoth7431 The new movement in the ceramic Black Bay also had some issues, and much more major requiring service, not just an inconvenience such as having to move the crown backwards slightly when setting the time LOL. Other than that the Cal 400 is precise and solid. I don't see Tudor giving you a 10 year warranty or a 10 year service interval.
@@istvantoth7431 Yes better, I actually tried on a Rolex Sub and was shocked how much better the build qualty of the Oris was.

0:57 Second Hands synchronized! Love it
Those are beautiful looking watches and I'm glad many watchmakers are now starting to size down a bit from the oversized watch trend that was prevalent for so long. I'd love to see more companies offer at least two sizes for specific models. Unfortunately, the Aquis is out of my current price range, but I think anyone who buys one will be happy with their purchase.
Love the Green One! Thanks for showing them all Teddy!
Date location perfect, like I called months ago. 41.5 is *the* size to get here. Next: GlideLock on the bracelet, please.
Love the green and blue dial and smaller size!! Great video Teddy!
I hope Oris releases this calibre 400 into their Big Crown Propilot line. I would not hesitate to buy a Big Crown Propilot Big Date with a calibre 400 movement. That would be a dream watch.
I've been debating between this Oris (green dial) vs an Omega SMP300, which appears to be a classic comparison on RUclips; however, I find myself consistently clicking on Aquis videos rather than Seamaster videos....I may have my answer at this point.
And Caliber 400 comes with a heavy jerking of the minute hand while hacking the movement which clever Teddy avoids talking!!!
Bruce pointed out about this on his latest review, however, Rob pointed out why this happens in his review as well. When you hack mechanical or automatic watch, you need to pass the full minute to where you want to hack, then go back to the minute you want to stop, and when you press the crown all the way in, the minute hand does not move. Rob says this is the proper way to hack any watch. Just my two cents from what I learned.
@@thomascrown7818 Rob, as well as all of these youtubers, is also being compensated by Oris. That’s only an issue with Oris, not a recommended way to hack all watches.
It’s no coincidence that every reviewer has Oris watches out right now.
Terrific review Teddy, although I was looking forward to hearing your take on the jumping hand issue, which seems to be getting a lot of attention on social media.
Awesome to see all the colors compared.
My dream watch is the green one🤯 omg that looks beautiful
Thankyou, your information on this watch finally pushed me to pull the trigger. My first step away from ETA. Exciting times. Subscribed.
The 3 look magnificent together
My wrist is 7” I tried on the 43.5 and it did fit well, I tried on the 41.5 albeit on the rubber strap and it seemed small. If I was to buy one I’d go with the 41.5 because that’s the look I prefer. When you’re in a shop it’s hard to make a choice I believe if I bought the larger model I’d get bored of the size after a while.
i really love this watch, but i can see the jumping hand being a sore point for me down the road if i do get it..
There was a video out yesterday from Random Rob showing how to set the time, it is very easy to do and once you see how there are zero issues with it
same, better get a normal date and save some money for another watch
@@dorningarts i know about the overshoot method but personally, minor inconveniences do add up over time for me so until Oris fixes this with the next movement, i don't see myself getting their in-house movement watches any time soon :( thanks for still letting me know!
@@konadora I personally do not see this as a flaw, simply the way it works, but I understand what you are saying that it bothers you
Sorry, I didn't see any problems on the footage. Could you explain, what do you mean?
I love how low the date window sits so low at the 6 o’clock position.
Great review and it looks like Oris has something here to compete against Tudor and Omega. Would be great if watches like this at this price point puts pressure on those guys to keep prices under control.
I have been thinking about addding a green dial watch to my small collection, and this is certainly a possibility.
My opinion is that the size is effectively 39mm so a good size. The jumping minute hand is a quirk of the watch you can get use to working with. The dials are beautiful. Strap swapping is easy. Amazing power reserve.
Overall a very solid release. The problem for me is the cost.
What is the jumping minute hand?
Oris got a raw deal with some of the coverage of this movement. Lots of watch brands have jiggle in the minutes hand setting unless you overshoot and move back.
I always overshoot by 5 minutes, then move back before setting all my watches anyway. My main gripe is the integrated bracelet. Looks great, but I love using different straps and bands.
Can you name one? I’ve never experienced it in a watch, much less over $1,000.
@@triniboy05 it has happened to me often enough that I think of it as normal and don't make a mental note of it when it does. I can't remember specifically which ones of my watches do this, but I've seen it plenty of times with watches over $1000.
@@aminreviews2311 thing is, you say “lots of watch brands”, but I’ve never heard about it elsewhere, especially an in-house, at this price range. I don’t think Oris is being unfairly judged, I think they should’ve made a movement without that issue. Just my opinion though.
@@triniboy05 i've literally never seen this in any watches i've interacted with or owned though. so not sure where the "lots of watch brands" claim is coming from haha. you're right, especially if oris is going to charge this high a premium.
Very interesting stuff from Oris. So refreshing to forget all the pretentious brands and focus on excellent watch making combined with great value for money. How about a review comparing the Oris Agues Caliber 400 with the Tudor Black Bay 58?
Thank you for this video which is so explanatory, clear, professional and above all with some really well done shots! I would like to ask you if this 41.5 mm model can be suitable for a 17 cm wrist and if under a shirt or pullover, in your opinion it is too bulky or has a good fit. The thickness of the 13.5 mm case scares me a little, but from what you said, the lugs and the ceramic bezel tend to slope downwards and therefore, it probably fits optimally. The green model is beautiful but the blue is also very interesting... which one would you personally choose between the two? Compliments! Marco
Very nice Oris additions from a quality brand. I have the Aquis GMT.
I believe my money would be better spent on a Tudor than this Oris and I like Oris but the movement problem at this price point i think there are better options.
Well said. In that price range Tudor is definitely the better option
I'd also like to know, what are you talking about.
@@igorchistyakov8876 the caliber 400 has a problem with the minute hand jumping out of place when engaging the crown.
@@jodysilvia2 huh, really? I think such "quirks" should be more accentuated in a review. Thank you.
@@igorchistyakov8876 most youtubers go over it in detail, I guess if you sell the item and review it they probably won't mention it. Search Oris 400 problem you'll find plenty.
Are Oris watches ISO certified?
Teddy, is jumping hand problem solved?
Had the watch for a months bracelet fell apart. Was told to bring back to retailer. They would ship it back for repair. They could have shipped me the bracelet. Now I am being told 6-7 weeks. Customer service will not respond to this concern. Buyer beware.
Now if Oris could make an adjustable bracelet clasp on the fly they would have the market.
The integrated bracelet is not helping. Huge trend on swapping straps.
Is this movement Oris’ own in-house movement or is the Caliber 400 movement purchased from someone else?
Own in house
Beautiful piece, and I enjoy the new iteration here, but In house movement yielding an accuracy, or lack thereof, of -30 to +5 with a $3500 price tag???? For the price, I would have liked to see this come with a Chronometer certification, or at least come with an unwritten rule of thumb showing much much better accuracy.
???
The caliber 400 runs no worse than -3 / +5 which is Better than chronometer certification. Mine runs at -2.5 per day
Thanks for the quality content!🙏 can you by any chance compare thos watch to Tag Heuer aquaracer 200?
This is the first Oris, that I actually like.
One question does it have ISO 6425 or not and older aquis models too with red rotor does it have ISO 6425 or not because I cant find it anywhere...
I have a 2020 Tag Hauer 43mm gmt Batman. If I did not have that I would go for the Oris in blue!👍
How do I order black bezel for my green Aquis? Checked website with no luck……..
Sherry, I will be reaching out to you to pick up one of these great video
isnt the 41.5 around 45mm lug to lug?
Do you review watches you do not sell on your online store?
Oris should offer full lumed bezels for that price point !
I think that might go against Oris ethic. Maybe pretentuous for some. Just my opinion but I can see your side.
Hey Teddy,
Question for you or anyone else able to respond. What's the actual difference(s) between between a Field or Pilots Fleiger watch?!
Or is there a reason to purchase one over the other??
Lol you forgot to mention the hidden feature that Oris wanted to have for its new movement...
Making me pretty sad that I have a 43 with the SW-200-1 in there now haha. And the new bracelet... looks great.
Yeah, and next a new model will trump this one. Enjoy your watch.
The power reserve is great, definitely puts Omega to shame. I don't think the price is justified. Not much decoration on the movement.
If decoration justifies price, have you ever seen a rolex movement?
Price isn’t justified but it puts Omega to shame…pure nonsense.
Man, I wish they didn’t have the integrated bracelet. I like change bands, and this makes it very difficult (unless you just want the Oris rubber strap).
between a 400 caliber oris and a manjuarí diver cuervo y sobrinos which is better
No mention of the elephant in the room? That being the trick you have to do to avoid the minute hand jumping ahead when you set the time. I know there is a workaround for it, I just feel for over three grand y ok u shouldn't have to perform tricks in order for your watch to work correctly. Still doesnt change the fact that the Aquis, especially in that gray or anthracite dial, looks absolutely amazing. Perfect blend of bling and luxury.
Hence the reason why people should read the manual before operating an expensive technology. Rob actually talks about how to hack properly. I actually learned something new
Well, nice step in the right direction but still, i’m ready for a 38-39mm. 😏
Also 13mm is still chunky for my small wrist and definitely not a strap monster.
Does anyone have any information on evans swiss watch? i have one with landeron 45 movement my grandfather left me and I want some history details on evans watch company. thank you. btw..Im loving the new oris as well.
Beautiful dials, and nice video👍🏻
The possibility of -30 secs a day is outrageous for a watch at this price.
100% agree. Oris should have done a lot better here...Chronometer Cert. is what I'm thinking for that price.
i love oris watchs. and i saw it today in our oris dealer.
actually when he said the price after the discount i was blown away. actually the price was out of any reference u can think of. 2205$ so i need quick answer gentlemen.
Should i BUY it ? green or blue ?
Blue! More versatile than the green
Very beautiful watches just if you have the money you just got to get all the colors!
Does someone know if there is actually a green dial oris at 43.5mm calibre 400? On their website they have only 41.5mm.
Although I could find only in 1 online store having 43.5mm with green dial on mr porter, while they even confirmed its 43.5. Authorised dealers all said oris does not produce the watch in green at 43.5 so dont even know...
Thanks a lot
I love the red one.
Am I the only one that hears @8:39 "-30/+5 seconds a day"?
Yes was a mistake. -3 to + 5 per day the movement is how it performs
Oris makes me happy, why I don’t own one is mind boggling
I can’t choose between the Oris Aquis or the Sinn 104
Can anyone tell me how he gets the dial colour to be so dynamic and rich? Lighting or camera?
It’s like that in person too. It’s not a lighting trick.
Intergrated bracelet.. why
Dream watch 🔥🔥🔥
Does the green dial have a green bezel it's hard to tell if it's green or black
It has a green bezel.
@@TeddyBaldassarreReviews thanks Teddy love your channel do your contest include Canada and is there a better more affordable hulk watch then this ?
The jumping hands when the crown is pushed in or pulled out is a deal breaker. Especially if I'm spending thousands on a watch.... it better be perfect
check out Random Robs video from yesterday, easy to set the time
It's just like Seiko chapter ring is often not aligned even with the more expensive watches.
Yeah there’s no way I could spend this much on a watch that does this. I have a $250 Orient that doesn’t do this so why would I spend so much on a watch that does this. It’s really the only negative about the watch though.
FYI, my 8K Cartier with a Piaget movement also has the same issue.
@@matthoffman6962 I read its a design flaw in the double barrel power system, I could forgive if it only jump when you pull out and set time, not when you push in again. But of cause if it's your daily watch and it has 5 days power reserve the problem is minimal.
Love the Oris watches…
Teddy Baldassarre Reviews, great video! 2 questions, mate: There has been much hype about the arrow jumping issue with cal 400. Since you're selling these watches, what do you know about it and when will it be remedied by Oris. Question #2, this or Turor BB?
No brained.BB 58 !
@@matlindell5022 with less power reserve, shorter warranty and more boring looks?
@@almeladze fair enough !
Oris for me without a doubt. if offers more than the regular BB tbh. The Aquis is a better looking watch imo.
@@vincent8709 100%!
Oris should offer full lumed bezel. Even half would be amazing. A complete watch afterwards.
Price
Green watches really are taking over. Seiko needs to get a sub $200 green sundial
Orient kamasu green fills that void for me.
@@zxtang1 I have the red one and I love it
Good video .. but can I suggest you slow down the dialogue a little.. it would be a more enjoyable watch for sure
This watch was already smallish in the 43.5mm version.
Why is it that watchmakers writes "M" for meters and not the correct "m"? Just wondering. When everything is in the details it is just an odd thing to do.
consistency - all of the font is in capitals, it would look Strange otherwise (see what I did?)
@@C4LLUM1995 I see. But 200M = 200 * 1000000 and has nothing to do with meters. If one want to write M instead of m because of esthetical reasons it would be better to write just 200 and skip the M for Mega... I see this on many other watches as well. Just think it is such a strange thing to do.
It would look awful with an inconsistently sized M. It is only a problem if people are misunderstanding it, which nobody is - context makes it clear.
Missing hour marker @ 6. Or they should put a date frame instead.
Are we looking at the same watch? There is a date window at 6.
@@MrFloRolf, previous models have a shiny hour marker at 6 to make it alive. This model doesn't because limited of space. Or they can put a shiny date frame like most of Grand Seiko.
Is it a Sellita movement or not .. now I’m confused 😕
The watch would be better had they got away with the display back so they could lose 1mm, 13.5mm is too thick 10 - 12mm is ideal.
Looks great that
3 deal-breakers for me; too big, fumee dial and a design flaw in the movement.
The blue is killing me.
Oris needs to address the movement flaw before I even think about purchasing one.
i need the cal 400 with the cherry dial in 43,5 mm
You could find this watch at 1,5k with a good discount brand new.
Now you have to pay 1k+ more but for what ?
For a re-modified movement a and 2 mm smaller case ?
It’s no from me…
For what? How about a totally in house, better than chronometer accurate, and a highly anti magnetized movement that has 4x the power reserve of the entry level Sellita! Not to mention a 10 year warranty and 10 year service intervals
Tissot released the Seastar Professional 2000 recently, retailing just over $1,000. How do you think that watch stacks up against this Oris?
Hacking issue hour hand jumops allegedly. Well documented.
Envious of another RUclipsrs, feels inadequate & calls out said RUclipsr :
The Teddy effect.
hacking second, but no hacking minute hand? i‘ll pass.
I love this, I want this, I need this 😉😂
Where's the Red Cherry 🍒 dial?
Minus THIRTY to plus five seconds per day. That can't be right!!??!?!!?? I just placed an order for this watch. Minus THRITY!!!! Oh man, i don't even want it anymore
I have automatic watches under 200 bucks that only have a minus ten. Paying several thousand for minus thirty is daylight robbery
He made a mistake when i said that. It's minus 3 with the new Oris
Still too big... 38 ftw
For half the price just get the Longines Hydroconquest.
Much better size, very nice dials, although not a big fan of the hands , which are pretty boring in my opinion. Impressive power reserve, that’s a great plus . They need to upgrade the clasp though, the fact that they did not is pretty cheap and lame. They need an adjustable glide clasp like Omega has on its Seamaster 300m bracelet. Also if it’s a sports/ dive watch the bracelet should be all brushed , the polished parts will end up getting scratched quickly and then it will look terrible. Why have polished parts on a bracelet if it’s a tool watch? I mean come on , even I could do better than that. Oh , and it’s too expensive , this should be under $3000.
Beautiful watches at a great size, but over priced. The ‘diver’s extension’ on any watch is a gimmick and completely useless for diving (but may be useful in other sports) so they would be better off looking at an ‘on the fly’ adjustment for their bracelets. I’m not convinced by the movement, for a 3k watch.
I went to go see this watch today.. the bracelet feels sooo cheap... and the 41.55mm looks soo small on my wrist...
I have written to Oris twice in the last year requesting they make the cal 400 available with the cherry red Aquis dial. They refused both times and therefore I will never buy an Oris.
I guess they will make a watch solely for you. 🤦
