Chris. I wish to thank you ever so much for the lesson on hand and arms generated speed. I followed the lesson yesterday. I played today and applied more speed to my arms and hands with much better results. My score improved by four strokes from my average. I am so grateful.
Your video is enlightened me. I'm lefty but use right hand clubs. My left wrist always blocks my swing and now I know why and how. Thank you very much.
Chris, should the flexed wrists be controlled by the weight of the driver head during the swing, if not, at what point should the wrists be relaxed throughout the swing?
Chris, my driver is anything but, however i will try this , is all logical, problem with me is too tense, I guess you nail it with wrist movement must be fluid and grip pressure and other major issue with me is movement in back swing , my mind kept bothering me and kind of loosen on the way down, my mind is muddle up
Excellent instruction Chris! Harvey Penick talked about the "Magic Move" being the hands lowering at the completion of the backswing. I'm working on doing this motion faster while keeping the width of my downswing!
Thanks Julian, I’d never encourage a golfer to not use the legs, but useful to show that most of the speed can be generated from elsewhere. Haven’t seen that video from Mike, but love his coaching
Mike Malaska made all the sense when I was in the golf-swing wasteland, I changed to a very strong grip; golf-swing is a hands & arms sport on a stable platform.
I feel its the arms but the body pulling my arms(body is driven by ground). Like a string with a heavy ball. I feel if I can create a smooth pendulum motion I get more and more speed.
I remember Crossfield videos in which he says, where the speed comes from totally depends on the individual player. I think it was with his pressure mats.
Hi Chris how do I book lessons with you? I tried from the details in description but it says your diary is not available and I had no response from the number given to contact. Thanks
The tricky part of the question was “most” speed and in view of the fact you’re holding the club with your hands, then hands and arms it must be. I also use this fluid, easy, lag type practice swing when using my woods… from one of your previous lessons! Another great video, thank you Chris.
The part that makes me crazy is that .. on occasion .. all the stars align .. and I find the drive I just struck is about 300 yards away from the tee box. The terrible part is: It felt exactly like the 240 yard drives I hit all day just before. No noticeable difference between the two swings.
About the only British-speaking golf instructor not telling everyone to leave their hands at the top and rotate or pivot to swing the club. Speed does not come from body rotation, get a grip European instructors, especially you Dan Whittaker.
Before watching all of the video, I believe the most speed comes from the wrists. Lack of tension in muscles and using efficient body motion, soft relaxed wrists will create tremendous speed.
Great insight Chris. Would you also say that the trail elbow position in the downswing will add clubhead speed? This is something I'm looking at being a "senior" golfer now at 52 years old.
Yes! Get that out of position and it can be really hard to get the speed out into the club head, certainly one to focus on and will actually make for a really good vidoe
Forearms is what impacts your swing speed the most, without question. You could have everything else on point in the swing, but weak forearms you might lose up to 30% of speed and driving distance.
I would say core, hips and lats. Being a hockey player, I get the movements fairly naturally but struggle when I overthink it or try to change things. P.S. The two quickest corrections that have made a huge difference to my game because of you are the leading heel ball position visual and hand placement (I was way in the palms and slicing the ball every time)!
Why would you not be able to generate 100mph if you can generate 115/120 on the course using all your body movements? You are young, mobile and a professional golfer with the natural talent and skill set. May I suggest you get an average amateur who generated a reasonable current max 90 mph club head speed and with your tuition demonstrate more clearly the issues the amateur experiences in trying to implement the processes you enunciate and yet can achieve the progress you claim ( relatively speaking). This is not challenging your method. I think it is more believable if you demonstrate what you are saying with a comparable amateur to most of your viewers.

Fabulous instruction. No one compares to you Chris. You're incredible!

Very useful. Thanks. Question, if you can answer, what's the app you're using? Thanks again. Fan of your videos!
Great video, which app are you using for measuring speed? Thank you!
Great lesson. Amazing insight into swing mechanics! Thank you.
Very interesting . Your best lesson was the speed boat . It really helped my game . Thank You
Very educational and helpful. Thank you,
Loosen up the wrists, not grip pressure. The best tip over the years!
Often overlooked, but so important

Please
What an instructor he was!! Great advice too
@@ChrisRyanGolf Harvey's "magic" tip of trail elbow near the side on the downswing, eliminates the giant OTT move entirely.
Saw mike malaska saying this years ago in a vid and makes perfect sense. So many coaches seem to disagree tho. Glad uv demonstrated it.

@@ChrisRyanGolf think its called ‘where speed really comes from’ check it out , v interesting.

Thanks so much

Thanks, yeah I love that visual and concept too, really helpful to keep tension out of the swing
Another eye opening video thanks Chris.
Extremely helpful video!
I was going to say leg's, hips, and turn of the body, with loose wrist hinge
Thanks for the lesson! Cheers Martin
Thanks Martin

Exactly my problem! Frustrating!
Most likely it was be it’s you got better spin numbers and launch on the good hit.

Excellent Chris, let’s put it in to practice 👍👍👍👍
Thanks
Great video as always, thanks so much
Thanks John
At the bottom with arms and hands. ?
Correct! 👊
As usual a great video
Thanks Sean

Reminds me of the Arnold Palmer anecdote when he was asked how to hit it longer...
“Swing the f#%¥ing club harder!”
The most speed comes from a proper sequence of events firing perfectly.
Agreed that if we are looking for the most speed then lots of things have to be in place 👍
@@ChrisRyanGolf easier said than done, thats the catch.

The faster I swing, the more fairways I cross
Core
At the bottom of the swing one foot behind impact
The ground
Lose wrists is how you hit good bunker shots as well.
Wrists
Well, in 30 years from 45 to 75, I've learned that speed does not come from the hands "chopping wood in a swing over the top".
Hmmmm.. he just hit a 194 yard carry with his driver..no legs at all right down the middle. Probably rolled 225-240yrds.. I just found my new swing!
From half way into the for ward swing of the driver. ‘Chak’
God speed
The speed comes from the arms.
Arms
wrists
200 yard carry w/o trying, that's a settle flex Chris.
Legs
That’s what Paul Wilson teaches. Relaxed and flexible wrists
Pretty key to generating speed in my opinion
hips?
foiled again!
The ground. Speed comes from ground force.
Lower body and lag
Most of your speed comes from your hips an abs then you arms an your hands

This is why hockey players are annoyingly good at golf.
If it's all about wrist tension, as guys, we should all be pros.
