Hey all! I just built this golf app where you can get exclusive lessons from the world's greatest golf coaches. It's been the biggest game changer to helping me improve, and wanted everyone to be able to do the same. Check it out here! caddyai.io/
I think there are two types of golf coaches. Coaches that create customers, and coaches that create golfers. In the first 10 minutes of this video, Mr. Wydra gave me more information about the driver swing than I've seen from any other instructor on YT or in person. I've paid a lot of money for in-person lessons over the years from different instructors, and through all of those lessons, received less information than I just received in this video. This is the type of coach I wish I could find (and afford). This is, hands down, the best driver lesson I've ever seen.
Just wanted to say thanks for sharing your lessons with us. This one especially has helped me understand why I hit great irons and horrible unplayable driver. No one has explained the hands forward motion for driver as I do with my irons so I basically was tilted and slapping at it. Appreciate you.
Been having same issue with the driver. With this swing thought, it felt more natural for me with just a few practice swing. Can't wait to try this at the range. Thank you.
These lessons are gold , so many lessons on you tube are being given to already good players, these are great for people who can’t master or finding it difficult to master the basics
Im a 3 handicapper trying to get to scratch, driver is the club i struggle with the most, and feel if that gets better scratch is just around the corner. Just found your chanel and subscribed, your lessons wity Mike is some of the best Ive ever seen and ive seen a lot. Awesome stuff!! Keep this up and u will get to scatch, hopefully me first lol.
I'm an 8 handicapper but cant hit driver .....just went to the range and was terrible! Came home watched this and now I know why,THE BEST VIDEO ON DRIVER IVE SEEN #iveseen100s😂 Cant wait to work on this, what a teacher!
Just started back golfing myself and have had a hugh drive to get back to where i used to be in my golf game. Shooting around a 90 but hopefully i can get back to enjoying myself on the golf course again. Best of luck to you my dude!
The information density coming from than man speak is off the charts. Been listening to that several times and seem to find a new piece of information that hadn’t registered before. Great content Jerome, keep going at it 😁
Bro, you are helping SO MANY weekend golfers tighten up their game. I've fixed a bunch of parts of my game and I've started sharing the vidz with my friends... though, I'm not sure I want to as they may begin to beat me... ... crap! Thanks anyway!
Loving your channel, just watched your series this morning after a buddy sent it to me. We live in SD and started golfing about a year ago. Loving watching you hit up all the spots we started at. I would suggest trying out the Balboa executive 9 hole, it’s a bit of a step up from Mission Bay. Another good spot to work on your short game is the Colina Chip and Putt, it’s a great little course that’s well maintained. I subscribed and look forward to following your journey, I’ll be sure to say hey if I see you out there.
1st time a golf pro say don’t tilt on drivers vs every pro says otherwise. I do like his explanation about having one swing. Thing is, it’s easier said than done unfortunately. Great content as usual!
You took two lessons for driver around the same time. Both giving different information. Could you please let us know which one worked better. This lesson or the standard lesson that everyone else talks about, which is, to tilt the shoulders slightly and hit up on the ball. Even Rory in one of his training videos mentions that he tilts a little and hits up on the ball. He even says there's two different swings in golf. One for your driver and other for you irons which is contrary to this lesson. This lesson on paper sounds good, to have 1 swing for all your clubs. But did it actually work for you?
It is interesting seeing a video teaching the driver swing starting from zero to someone who is a completely blank canvas. Most lessons I have had and seen in videos try to adjust small parts of a person’s swing without considering the ideal swing mechanics - only small changes that might improve the swing quickly.
can you clarify the ball position here ? did not see it face on whether it's on the heel, on the toe, somewhere in general on the front foot, or still within the ball's length inside the heel ? 3:35 for the ball position, for example ? (middle of the front leg) It's nice to see these kind of experienced details from the people directly, rather than making your own content style version of what you learned from them. (just watched your putting one as well)
After listening to this golf lesson, I am happy I changed to the single plane golf swing years ago. It is so an easier swing to understand and execute. Jerome, if you want to hit the fast forward button on becoming a scratch golfer, call Todd Graves. It will cut your time in half. Good luck.
Appreciate the teaching from Mr. Wydra, have picked up several great tips with respect to setup. I am a bit confused, however, on one teaching point in this video. He advocated squaring the club face at impact by turning the hips and not using the wrists to "turn it over." But in a previous video, he taught the 5 words..."get ahead, turn it over" - basically using the forearms / wrists to release the club. What am I missing; is there a contradiction here?
This what I was thinking exactly! Turning it over is from what I have gathered the whipping feeling coming through the ball. If it bleeds out right the whip is too late. Here he is saying focus on rotation of the body to square the driver. I also don’t know how you get speed doing just body rotation
I’m glad! Def my intention for the channel. Figured people may have the same questions or concerns that most RUclips channels won’t be able to cover :)
I know I'm a year late to your channel but this is by far the best video I've ever seen on how to hit a driver and I've been playing for a year already I'm not near as good as you but maybe because when I started I was 68 years old😂😂🎉
The driver swing that's being demonstrated here are for those of that are young and athletic. Those of us that are older and have less rotation will need to lean more and swing up.
I remember hitting balls at UCSD range. It was basically a field where you brought a shag bag. Mike would give lessons there and I couldn't listen. I remember he gave one lesson on hitting out of ice plant. 😂 This was 1981
Ugh, can’t believe I missed this video. Great job tho man, I’ve actually also signed up for golf classes and although my teacher won’t let me learn the driver yet, I’m glad to see you do it. Hopefully I will soon.
I love golf coaches that give you so much information that there is less than a 50% percent chance you will answer any of their questions correctly about what they are trying to teach you (as you make the same mistakes repeatedly) lol. But it's ok because they usually follow it up with a dad joke before continuing to feed you even more information you are incapable of digesting, no less implementing into your golf swing. 😂😂😂 Meanwhile, I (or whoever..) am standing there half confused and half embarrassed because not only did I just hit a horrible shot, I then proceeded to answer his follow up question completely wrong (even though he made it seem like the answer couldn't be more obvious). I loved several points he made during the video but this lesson would have put my brain in a blender. I don't mean to sound critical. It just made me laugh because the experience is so relatable, as I have found myself in similar scenarios on several occasions.
I had my driver sussed a few months ago was hitting bombs straight all day...I've completely lost it and can not for the life of me figure out why...it's my left leg..I'm not getting it outta the way I'm pushing forward when I need to pull it back left with the driver! Looking forward to golf tomorrow again now!
The only thing I do not like about this particular video is that in one of your most recent driver swing videos, another coach completely contradicts all the tips in this video. Mr. Wydra emphasizes that you should NOT be tilting back to hit up on the ball whereas in your most recent video, that coach emphasized that the most important driver setup was that should tilt. I, personally, find this to be much more natural as the coach indicated that this driver swing should be no different than your iron swing with the exception of ball position.
So “guys” - golfisti - this session of Mike’s with Jerome is pretty much Proof of Concept of his methods! Please take care to listen to the 4 tips - it could, as for me, save you from lots of hooks! If I nail all 4 parts yes it feels funny(strange) but wow - off goes the ball!
man i just watched the other driver lesson you had where he had you hover the club and lean your shoulder back. am i crazy or are these 2 guys kinda contradicting eachother? Which did you end up going with in regards to setup?
This lesson is great, but I can’t figure out the putting the driver up on its edge. How is this done without changing grip or position of hands. Anyone any ideas
Chin in the middle of your stance, chin 10” from ball, makes the distance between the inside of my feet 20”. This puts my feet on the outside of my shoulders and seems awfully wide. Am I missing something?
Yes, it sounds like this is the only club where you don’t put the ball inside the heel, just put it 10 inches in front of chin and set feet wide to be stable
@@broccoliaugratin Thank you, I watched the video again and I don’t know how I missed the fact you tee the ball so much further in front of the lead foot.
I really enjoyed this video but I feel like there are some teachings that he says as an absolute which don't really cater to the individual. When he talks about releasing it later being more difficult then closing it with your turning exiting left I'd say that depends on the person. Some people are going to swing more rotational some are more vertical. Basically he's saying John Rahm and Brooks koepka swing a more difficult way. I think it depends on the person and what they're trying to do. I basically feel like he is teaching a "square to square" swing?

This 20 minute video was worth more than the $2000 I spent on lessons last year.
Easily ❤
On top of that, he also has a good sense of humor)
Pisses me off the coaches always leave something of the table for the next lesson
Best driver lesson. I’ve been struggling bad with my driver. Went to the range today and bam
Just wanted to say thanks for sharing your lessons with us. This one especially has helped me understand why I hit great irons and horrible unplayable driver. No one has explained the hands forward motion for driver as I do with my irons so I basically was tilted and slapping at it. Appreciate you.
That hands forward motion is a new one to me too and my driver is on and off and my irons are usually good, makes sense.
This content is pure gold. I'm so tired of hearing the same thing phrased differently from different Golf RUclipsrs. Kudos to you for uploading this.
I have seen a lot A LOT of these online swing lessons , this could be the best one yet 👏👏 absolutely brilliant 👍👍
That means a lot!! And yeah! My whole intention is for everyone to have access to all these resources as well!
Been having same issue with the driver. With this swing thought, it felt more natural for me with just a few practice swing. Can't wait to try this at the range. Thank you.
What a great coach! Breaks things down very well, and doesn’t over complicate the golf swing. Loving your videos!
Thanks! Really appreciate it :)
What a fantastic coach!
I’ve known Mike for a long time and he’s one of the best there is. Cheers!
Mr Wydra.....total respect for you're incredible insight and the way you teach the process.

Mike is such a nice guy - could watch all day long! Inspired me a lot! Keep going...
One of the best lessons Ive ever seen.
This video fixed my drives! The philosophy behind what he's teaching is game changing!
How do u get power with this swing I can only do half swings
Micheal L is 100% spot on!
Just started back golfing myself and have had a hugh drive to get back to where i used to be in my golf game. Shooting around a 90 but hopefully i can get back to enjoying myself on the golf course again. Best of luck to you my dude!
Makes so much sense...We can all use his help...

So much useful information that I’ve never heard before. I’ve always struggled with the driver so I can’t wait to try these tips out
Man watching this helped me hit straight bombs today- Mike is a G 💣
Nice vid!!! I cant wait to go to the range and try it out
Good luck!!
Pure Gold!
Thanks for this video. Will have to practice these 4 steps. My driver game is terrible. Either hitting toe or popping it up.
Wow this is the first set of tips to fix my slice after tons of lessons and videos. Plus I’m no longer in some weird contorted lean
Thanks for the content bro it really helps my golf
You got it! More to come :)

Great lesson. So much valuable information!😅
The grind don't stop baby!
👍
What a great coach this guy is, explains everything very well.
great golf coach stick with him
thanks im learning alot as well 😮
These videos have helped my game tremendously! Thank you!
Great video and mad props for the dedication
What a great coach... any on the course vlogs coming?
Great coaching lesson with the key fundamentals for hitting consistent bombs. Thx~
This guy is an amazing coach
Thanks for sharing! Great lesson
Hey, those first 2 shots were straight as an arrow...awesome video once again...subscribing!
Thanks! I just have no consistency at all :/
1st time a golf pro say don’t tilt on drivers vs every pro says otherwise. I do like his explanation about having one swing. Thing is, it’s easier said than done unfortunately. Great content as usual!
It’s weird though because he has some tilt. It seems he saying it’s natural because of how the hands are. You don’t need to force it.
Awesome instructor
If I were you I would not go to any other teacher. Stay with this coach he knows what is going on in the golf swing.
Wow that was a sick lesson man.
let's go. you can do this.

Strong work. Mike is an incredible teacher. Puts my GolfTEC instructor to shame. Stick with him!
Lol 😂, yeah the number of lack lustre instructors who just want your money out there is awful, it’s not funny really and boy do they charge

Haha maybe one day. That would be awesome to help 1 million people :)

Does this coach have a video on the right grip and how to ensure you have a good grip

Dope intro bro
For the algo! I'm binge-watching these!
I was always taught to have a tilt to the right on the driver swing
I can not stress enough how important the first 7 minutes of this video is.
How do u get power with this though, I can only get to like 50% speed with this technique
I learned so much from watching this. Thanks Mike! +1 for the algo
Can you show how to turn the face, step 4. Or am I just missing it?

Over under on when he breaks his hands on the table drill 😂
They are already broken hahaha
16:43 4 step setup.
What did he mean when he said put the edge of the club up? What edge? Having a difficult time visualizing it. Thank you.
Mainly the face of the club
@@JeromeRufin got it thank you!
Just did steps 1 through 4 in the living room. The set up feels so comfortable. Thank you for sharing your lesson!

what brand of hat is the coach wearing?
Damn I wish I lived in the States. I have never seen a coach so good. My brain is exploding right now lol.
bro are you based in san diego? this looks like sorrento canyon golf
F me dead I needed this
*Swings club correctly*… "Wow that's very similar to Golf" … LOL
What does he mean when saying put the club on edge ??
This lesson is great, but I can’t figure out the putting the driver up on its edge. How is this done without changing grip or position of hands. Anyone any ideas
Im puzzled too. I think a grip change and the face looks open and more lofted.. confused.
I think he means get the correct grip then roll the wrist to the right to open the face and give the look of a more square face.
"wow, look at that. It's very similar to golf!"... Classic
Looks like you're in Sorrento Valley
You can call me Mike😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Am I correct in noticing your swing is shallow naturally? I just can’t seem to do it I’m jealous
I don’t really know what shallowing means tbh 😬
Definitely a different way of thinking of ball position and driver set… at this point I’m willing to try anything….
Hopefully it helps :)

These videos are awesome man but I feel like I know nothing about the golf swing 😭 seems like every coach says different stuff
Is it still Get Ahead and Turn It Down with the Driver?
I don’t get where the power would come from if the only power is from just your waist and hips turning someone help
