    I started my colection with the party pack and then add streaking kittens. The last one i bought was good vs evil. But i want to buy recipes of disaster next.

      At this point you’re a few expansions away from having the whole collection! While Recipes is amazing, it adds nothing new to the collection, other than the recipe cards themselves. Then again, that didn’t stop me to buying it the first chance I got.🙌🏼😂 Take care and have fun building your awesome collection!

      don’t buy recipes for disaster unless you’re a collector, buy zombie kitten and/or barking kitten and it’ll be a memory you and your friends will never forget. Also DON’T ever buy the burglar one if you already have the party pack or the original (again unless you’re a collector)

  • @sonicjhiq
    @sonicjhiq Год назад +7

    I would pick the cat burglar edition over the base game if you are on the completionist side since you get all base game cards plus a cat burglar toy

  • @adultmoshifan87
    @adultmoshifan87 Год назад +9

    I went for the Cat Burglar edition of the game, which (if I’m correct) is the base game with an additional Cat Burglar playing piece! Shortly afterwards, I got the Streaking Kittens expansion and I have shared them with some friends at a board games meetup. There were 5 of us last time so in case there’s 6 of us next time, I’m buying Imploding Kittens so that a 6th person can play! Even if you own the base game, you could maybe buy the 2 player edition if any of your cards have been damaged since (for example one of your opponents may have spilled a hot drink the last time you played) and even if you own recipes for disaster, you may want to buy the standalone Streaking Kittens expansion if any cards from that expansion have been damaged since. It’s important to have a means of sourcing a replacement for any and all cards!

      @gameswithdenverjames  Год назад +2

      I really want to review the Cat Burglar edition one of these days here soon! I love the addition of the plush cat. Plus the idea of adding the 2-player edition to your collection to replace damaged cards is a great idea! Between that set and the Streaking Kittens expansion, they’re both so cheap, you can’t pass it up. Thanks for sharing such valuable thoughts!

    Start with party pack, then recipes.. youll have most cards this way. Then optionally collect other packs if they contain cards that you dont already have.

    I just got the recipes for disaster and the box is great.. but i'm struggling to find a good card sleeve. The box fits the cards exactly so with sleeves they don't fit

    • @gameswithdenverjames
      @gameswithdenverjames  3 месяца назад

      You’re totally right! I wish the box was a bit more roomy. I’d like to be able to sleeve my own cards as well.

    i think the only problem is the back of the card is not the same for base game and expansions, glad i bought the rec. for disaster bcs if i bought an expansion i would be forced to buy slevees.

    If you’re ONLY trying to get every card, (not going the true completionist route).
    Instead, you can just get the “Cat Burglar Edition”.
    This version is IDENTICAL to the base game, from the card count, to the card types, and card art. 100% the same.
    The difference is that CB Edition comes with the a squishy cat figure that you use to steal “cat” cards from players. Also if you wanna get nit picky, Recipes for Disaster has Barking kittens that work differently from the Expansion version.

    • @gameswithdenverjames
      @gameswithdenverjames  Год назад

      Thanks for reaching out! In this instance, as a collector, I would get both! While you’re right in that the CB Edition comes with the cat figure, nothing beats the classic art design of the original box set, at least in my opinion. That said, I’ll eventually add the CB Edition to my own collection.
      Haha they got sneaky with switching up the rules for the Barking Kittens cards! It’s a fun twist. Take care and thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    • @micahflanders6789
      @micahflanders6789 Год назад +1

      That’s fair, I was just saying that if your goal is only to have every card, then you don’t need the base game
      (you wouldn’t need the 2-player or party pack for the same reason).
      Obviously a true collector would collect all the versions for the box art alone (which is what I did)
      I should’ve worded my original comment better.

      @gameswithdenverjames  Год назад

      Oh no worries at all! I appreciate you sharing what you did. In your personal opinion, what edition to the world of EK do you feel has been the most valuable? Nothing is off the table.

    • @micahflanders6789
      @micahflanders6789 Год назад +2

      RDF no question. The wide variety of cards it has is perfect to make custom decks.
      One of the the simpler decks I made just has just has skips, reverses, and shuffles with NO defuses, and it’s one of the most intense games we’ve played, as you can’t save yourself from the exploding kittens, and you never quite know where they are until it’s too late.

    • @gameswithdenverjames
      @gameswithdenverjames  Год назад +1

      Duuude!! That’s such a great way to play the game. I’m gonna have to try that out myself. Sounds like the most “roulette” way to play the game. And I agree with you on RFD as well. Zombie Kittens is up there for me, but RFD is too good to not put at the very top.

  • @mishayan
    @mishayan 11 месяцев назад +2

    I have the base + all the expansions and the NSFW version. I wonder if I should get the RFD? 🤔

    • @gameswithdenverjames
      @gameswithdenverjames  11 месяцев назад

      Whoa that’s awesome! RFD is like a “greatest hits” collection. It has nothing new, but it’ll have the fan favorite cards. If you’re a collector, it might be nice to have it! If you’re not, you aren’t missing out on much. Hopefully this helps!

    i recommend the party pack it has card set up for 2-5 players and for groups larger than 5 with the same cards as the base game plus some extra cards not in the base game. I wouldn't get the zombie pack till you got the rules down for the original style of play to me it felt a bit more difficult to teach the group as fast due to its new mechanics and unlike the base game it does require calculations some times

    • @gameswithdenverjames
      @gameswithdenverjames  4 месяца назад

      The Party Pack is a great way to go! I want to do a V.S video with it here in the near future. I also agree that it’s better to work towards Zombie Kittens after playing the initial game. Take care and happy gaming!

    Here's how I personally pick between them:
    1. Base + Expansions (Implo and Streak Only) for Travel
    2. Recipes for Just at Home
    I'm honestly content with the Recipe Pack. But since I wanna travel with it along with other games, I went for Red + the First 2 Expansions.

    Thank you for your reviews! We are quite new to Exploding Kittens and just started playing with the base deck. Now I am wondering, if I should get the Recipe for Disaster, even though I already own the base deck.
    Is it possible to combine the base deck with RfD to create a deck for more than 5 players, or would the back of the cards give it away?

    • @gameswithdenverjames
      @gameswithdenverjames  Год назад +3

      Welcome to the world of Exploding Kittens! I’m so glad that you’re enjoying the videos. I’ll share a few thoughts that will hopefully help you make a decision.
      To start, Recipes CAN be combined with the original game! When combined, you can play with up to 10 people. Plus all of the cards have the same backing, so that won’t be an issue.
      If you add RFD to your mix, it’ll definitely give you more creative ways to play. However, some people prefer to play the bass game on its own, because they feel the expansion cards muddle up the gameplay. (To be fair, it can get pretty intense.) That said, RFD does a great job of keeping things organized by utilizing a card organizer and the recipe cards.
      Hopefully this helps you to make a decision! Whichever route you go, Exploding Kittens is a blast. Be sure to let me know if you have any more questions!🙌🏼🙏🏼
